An ancient evil is returning, a war that was already won must be fought again, or once more, twice, like they already had it, but now they are doing it again because doing stuff again is what you do when the first time went ok, but this time it might not go ok, so, well, its a risk, isn't it?
Drew, Sabastian, Mary, Shamus, and Teak have had a rough old time of things, but they are still battling, still fighting, still resisting, and now with help from new friends they are ready to face their last battle, their final war, their final resistance!
Simon carr is, well he is me, hello. I write comedy Sci-fi and horror books. I started writing in 2018. I am severely dyslexic, on the very high end of the scale. So, writing a book was just me being defiant really, doing something I ought never to have been capable of doing.
I really enjoyed writing my first book, Space And Stuff, so I carried on writing. That makes it sound a lot simpler than it was, but after a lot of learning and editing; so much editing! And going through proofreaders at a rate of knotts, I got my books to a standard that only made a few grammar Nazis heads explode; so it will have to do.
I am from Blackburn in the UK, born in the summer of 1976. I have actually won three awards for my books, I know! I was as surprised as you are. If perfect grammar is your thing then you might want to give them a miss, but if you like satire and goofy scenarios I might be what you have been looking for.
In this final (?) book of Da Resistance Trilogy, Evil Emperor Amos is back trying to take over all the universes in the multiverse. Drew, Shamus, Mary, Sebastian and Teak are still resisting those attempts as they fight for freedom. Hey, it worked before.
But, this time Amos is trying to release Khaos from his prison to gain the advantage. Da Resistance is seeking help from the rest of the Vallopi, the former Apocalypse Blockers, across all time. I think there are characters in this story from every book Simon Carr has written except the One Eyed Cy stories. Since this may be book 15 or 18 in the ever growing Space/Time/Apocalypse Blockers/Bob the Blob/et cetera... Trilogy that makes for a lot of people, things, and robots being involved.
Whether you read this for the Guns N Roses reference, the Bon Jovi reference, or DNA enhanced frogs, you are sure to laugh. Although there is much less of the snarky narrator as compared to some of the other books there is more reliable spelling and grammar. Still not for Grammar nazis, but immensely closer to normal than some early books by Simon Carr.
You will definitely laugh even while being given some quantum physics lessons and you may even get a little teary-eyed during this epic battle over the fate of the multiverse over all time. This may be his best book yet. Well, at least until the next one.
This is a magnificent, science-fiction tale taking place on a planet-lite! Adventures brew as the story takes off for Carl and Norman on the moon-base. This story has creative twists and turns, and the antics of the characters are unpredictable and fun! A giant crater with drills shooting out plasma, some escape tunnels, and also ultimate weapons meld together for an actuality beyond time and understanding. The being that supersedes all space and time is known as Khaos. A beautiful band of characters coexists in this book's extraordinary happenings. Max, Choggy, Evil Mouse, and Sanjiv are in their own enclave, and the The Resistance Leaders are also part of this quest. Teak, Shamus, Sebastian, Drew, and Mary all bring their own flare to Simon Carr's fantastic "Final Resistance." What happens inside sensory rooms? Are characters all projections? What happens if Khaos returns? Discovery all of this inquiry in Simon Carr's impressive, spectacular work. This is a well-recommended read!
I love comedy and satire but very few books make me laugh out loud. Final Resistance had me laughing till I almost cried for help. As with his previous books the author wields his pen like a rubber sword. The characters of all his novels have been brought together and appropriately aged of course. The Resistance is up against the wall and all of reality is the prize. With a gigantic cast of literally trillions of sentient beings it’s all on the line. I recommend this book to all adult readers with a sense of humor.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The final book in the Resistance trilogy that brings together all of the surviving Apocalypse Blockers for the climatic battle for the universes.
Full of the authors trademark humour and swipes at popular culture but with an added gravitas that only the end of the world as we know it could bring.
It's sad to say goodbye to this cast of unforgettable characters but knowing Simon, he's already spawning ways to crowbar a few prequels into the mix.
If ever I'm in need of being cheered up or just need a chuckle I'll pick up a Carr title and lose myself in a world of absolute madness.
Another fantastic entry in the series. Certainly a page turner to find out what the next crazy event will be. With an epic ending to the trilogy bringing it to a close. Simon's books are always so funny.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Storyline is good. Characters are interesting. While I enjoyed the book I didn’t think it surpassed the previous ones in this series. Still worth getting as there is still quite a bit of fun to be had. I still say if you are a Douglas Adam’s fan this series is right for you.
Book 3 of the Da Resistance series continues to show us why Simon Carr's book win awards. They are snarky, illogical, tongue-in- cheek , and at times darkly humorous.
I am so disappointed that this series is ended. Simon Carr and his characters along with his unique sense of humor are to die for. I have NEVER laughed so much while reading a book as I have with this series. They are so good that my 16 year old nephew got intrigued. He's not usually an avid reader but after letting him read a short bit of on of the books, he's hooked and I've even ordered the entire series in paperback for him. He's all excited.
