Blood and Thorns Duet #1

I was very excited for this mafia story.
The cover was fantastic and the blurb caught my interest.

However, there were a lot of side stories, filled with many tropes, plenty of grammatical errors and the story didn’t have the originality I was looking for.

This started out boring but then the suspense kicked in and I was all for it. Well this ended in a cliffhanger, one that totally caught me off guard and I'm jumping right into the next book.

Merciless Vows is just went downhill. The story is supposed to be dark and gritty. Only about 10% of the beginning is good. Promising even. Miss Summers then just went downhill.

The conversation, the characters, the plot, the banter even the sex became so ridiculous and stiff. I even dozzed off somewhere in the middle.

Not looking forward for the next book.

My Review

This is book one of a duet it’s a mafia romance I’ve read another story by this author before which I did enjoy this one had the slight edge for me and it easily managed to keep my attention and left me wanting more, so glad I don’t have to wait for the conclusion as the second book is already out.

This is the story of Lucca and Aria and through a series of flashback memories, it actually spans from the time they were children there lives intertwining along the way. Aria though has no memories of this past as a few years ago she was injured in an accident that took her mother from her and when she awoke from a coma her past was missing.

Lucca is Bratva and out for revenge against Aria’s father he was hoping to accomplish this through Aria but finds himself no matter how much he tries unable to separate his feelings for her from his ultimate end goal. Through blackmail, He takes Aria for his own intending to make her his wife she was just meant to be collateral damage but now he finds himself conflicted as more than anything he just wants to keep her safe loving her but also wrongly hating her at the same time mostly because of the actions of her father which reach far further than he ever could have imagined.

Aria seems to be everyone’s pawn the scapegoat for the evil of others I really felt for her as she is truly innocent of any wrongdoing she is just caught in a situation that’s not of her making she deals in the best way she can by biding her time and complying as to do anything else could mean her death. She has grown to care for Lucca her past emotions combining together with her current feelings but further revelations make her question everything about their shared past and fragile bond.

This was well written and engaging there’s a lot of chemistry between Aria and Luca and this ended on a cliffhanger that left me wanting more. I definitely recommend this if you like mafia romance it’s a good one.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Merciless vows (Blood and Thorns duet #1)

First if all, that ending was heart pounding and cruel! I kept tapping my kindle for the next page because I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!

With Aria losing her memory she’s at the mercy of her husband, Lucca and that was just fine with him because Aria fell nicely into his plan of revenge. I was really trying to see the good in Luca, yet he didn’t give me much hope because every time I thought this is the moment, he’d revert back to being a jerk. Aria tried getting answers from Lucca, yet he wasn’t really forthcoming or wanting to help her because it seemed that he was hiding something.

I’ve read the Dark Syndicate books that Faith Summers & Khardine Gray have written together and I knew that this duet would be just as thrilling as those. Would Aria remember everything? Would Lucca get his revenge? So many questions and not many answers- yet. I’ll be waiting patiently for the next book. Kara~ 5 Heart pounding Stars

Very Torn while reading this book, it had a lot of potential but within the story was many other things going on other stories that made it so chaotic. It was an okay read, but at the same time i was confused and kinda bored. And the dialogue was kinda blah.

It has amenisa trope.
Russian Mafia.
Long haired hero.
Arranged Forced Marriage.
As it's a "Dark mafia" it does have dark TW elements: murder, rape, pedophilia, memory loss.

Every chapter is SUUUUUPER long and dragged and absolutely nothing is making sense. I don't get why length equals quality. Filler, filler, filler and more filler. Just get to the point, already please.

Omg!!!
This was a new to me author and one I'll definitely be reading more from including the final book in this page turning, must read duet.
I'm going to keep this review short and sweet as for once I'm actually speechless.
This book had a bit of everything and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Yes there was more steam than I normally would prefer personally, but unlike many books, the plot didn't get lost to it, and for that alone it deserves all the stars.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book as that ending had me slack jawed and close to throwing my kindle.

Star Rating : 4.5/5 Stars

POV : Dual

Cliffhanger : Yes

Hero : Lucca

Heroine : Aria

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 5/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Triggers Involved : Kidnapping , Forced Marriage , Dub Con scenes

Plot Summary :
Lucca has his eyes on Aria. The pretty angel fits amazingly into his plans of revenge and there is no limit he won’t cross to get his revenge. The only problem is his history with Aria. A history that she doesn’t remember. And it is better that way because he is pretty sure that won’t be able to handle the fact that the guy who was her savior is now her worst nightmare.

Aria’s whole life changed when she survived an accident with her mother. The accident that took away her memories leaving her all broken. That is until Lucca came into her life. She can feel that she knows him but can't remember why. He says it is better that she does not remember and sometimes that is what she believes too. Because the Lucca she knows now is definitely not a nice man. He is the one forcing her into marriage and plans to break her and any other truth about him is not something she can handle.

Overall Opinion :
I am a huge freaking fan of this author and there is nothing I won’t read by her. Her mafia books are my new addiction and she is simply amazing! I have read the DARK SYNDICATE series by her and they are phenomenal so I was pretty crazy to read this new duet by her. And suffice to say that I am not at all disappointed.
Aria and Lucca have an amazing tale that I enjoyed a lot. The plot was not at all predictable and the ensign was one big smack of a shock to me! I loved that twist so much although the cliffhanger is killer. I hope that the next book comes soon because I am going crazy here. Faith’s books are the right level of steamy so there's that too. I would definitely recommend this series to all the mafia romance loving people out there!

This book should have gotten a five but due to the typo's misspellings and use of incorrect words throughout the book I couldn't give the novel a five. Author's need to understand that when they sell their books whether it's on-line or not; the book needs proper editing. There is no excuse for poor editing. If an author self-publishes a book then they need to pay for a good editor before doing that. I have read too many books that are not properly edited because they are e-books. A good publishing company would not allow poor editing in a paperback, but e-books seems to have developed a life of their own when it comes to this and get away with selling books that have not been properly edited.

Pros: Character development/Aria 4.0 Lucca 4.5
Storyline/Content 5
Plot 5
Entertainment value: 5
Editing: 2.00

Cons: Dumbing down the heroine
Too convoluted/long and repetitious in certain parts of the book
Lacks continuity when referring to Bratva doctrine

The story and characters in this book for the most part are very entertaining. The storyline is well developed and the characters are interesting.

Aria's characters' is that of the "dumbed down daughter of a ruthless/governor" who is a monster heavily embroiled in the underworld. As book one reveals the monster he is, she still can't grasp the idea of him dying or being murdered for the greater good. Seriously? What is the tipping point in this story that she stops being his little girl and becomes a realistic 24 year old? As her memory slowly comes back to her she still won't accept the monster he is and always has been. I hate it when an author "dumbs down" the heroine to this point of frustration. It's lessens her role in the story because she loses her validity due to her immaturity and lack of reason/common sense. Any reasonable 24 year old should hate this man, considering how he has lied, manipulated, and physically abused Aria her entire life. Her remarks throughout the story of "he is still my father" had me grinding my teeth. Her character obviously has it's good points throughout book one with her attempts to bring light into a very dark Lucca. Aria and Lucca's attraction is a slow burn long sought out connection beginning from childhood. I hope book two will help her character to evolve and become the woman she is meant to be. So much of book one is about finding her memories i.e., physical abuse, rape and the murder of her mother etc., with everything coming back to "daddy dearest". She has been kept alive for only one purpose; what she holds over her father's head and what he needs in order to rise in the ranks of the Italian Mafia, otherwise she would have been sold long ago as a sex slave, forced into an arranged marriage, or dead by now.

Lucca's character is one that is driven by revenge. Considering what he has endured the reader understands why this man is so driven to get the answers he needs in order to find some kind of peace. Aria starts out as "collateral damage" in Lucca's quest to get the revenge he needs, but turns into something he didn't count on; love.

The storyline has more twists and turns and revelations than many stories like this and is well developed leaving the reader wondering what is going to happen next. Lucca's one downfall is trusting people he shouldn't even when it's clear there is a "mole" in his organization and enemies often present themselves as your " best friend" when in actuality they are your "worst enemy".

The book ends on a cliff hanger with book 2 coming out in a few days which I applaud the author for doing. I hate it when you read book one and the second book doesn't come out for months after the release of the first book.

Time will tell where this story goes and if the characters survive the and death and dying associated with this story.

Book: Merciless Vows
Read By: Ebook
Author: Faith Summers and Khardine Gray
Genre: Dark Romance
Recommend: Yes
< b>Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years
My feelings:

“Don’t let me spell it out for you. I like to fuck bareback, so I need you clean and on birth control.”

Lucca Dyshekov's loyalty lies with the Bratva, and he has always suspected that Aria's father was responsible for the tragic death of his best friend Timothy, as well as Timothy's wife and child.
She takes me back to being the boy I once was before the darkness took me, and she was my light.

When Aria's father causes an accident that takes the life of Lucca's beloved wife and leaves Aria with amnesia, Lucca sees it as an opportunity for revenge. He takes control of Aria, determined to make her pay for her father's sins. But he soon realizes that she is more than just a target - she becomes a siren's song to him, drawing him in with her enchanting beauty and mysterious past.
“Thank you for saving me,” I say. “You don’t have to thank me for that.” “I do, Peter Pan.” He smiles at that. “Then kiss me, Wendy.”

Despite their families' hatred towards each other, Lucca finds himself wanting Aria in ways he never expected. As they navigate their complicated relationship, they must also face the reality of their families' feud and question if they can ever have a future together.

As much as I was curious and so excited when I read the blurb, I felt detached from the characters. I continued reading 200 or so pages but could not continue. I thought that there was no real chemistry between the couple. Lust, yes. But that’s it. (Perhaps my thoughts were colluded partly due the Double Ds?)
So I was disappointed in that sense.
However, below please find what I concluded thus far.

The story teased with a cryptic glimpses of the relationship between the couple from the past that made the readers instantly aware that Aria knew Lucca from her previous life.
It unwrapped with Aria revealing that she’s had amnesia, no memory of her life after the accident that left her 6 months in a comma.
She’s beautiful, ethereal and innocent; an unfortunate collateral damage just because she’s the daughter of her mafia father.

Lucca’s fascination with her did not prevent him from exacting his revenge against her father, though – by marrying her. It was annoying how controlling Lucca was at first. He’s some a**hole who just wanted her to know he was her ruler.

This is my second book by this author, and evne though this is just part 1 of the duet, I can already tell that it's going to be my favourite one. What an amazing story!

Lucca Dyshekov, AKA Merciless is not called so without a reason. He's a coldblooded k*ller, master manipulator, and he's on a vendetta. Aria De Marchi is an innocent young woman who gets dragged as a pawn in Lucca's dangerous game of revenge. The chemistry between Lucca and Aria is crackling, and there is more than what meets the eye between them. I don't want to give out more, as their back story is actually the real core of the story. Its gripping, raw and emotional. Sensitive readers, be warned, there are elements of gore and other triggers, this story isn't in a grey zone, it's a proper dark romance.

And that cliffhanger! Bring it on! Can't wait for the conclusion of this story!

4.25 stars--MERCILESS VOWS is the first instalment in Faith Summers’ (aka Khardine Gray) contemporary, adult BLOOD AND THORNS erotic, dark, Mafia romance duet focusing on soon to be twenty-five year old Italian Mafia princess Aria De Marchi, and twenty-eight year old, Bratva assassin Lucca Dyshekov.

WARNING: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Aria and Lucca) using present day and memories from the past, MERCILESS VOWS follows the enemies to lovers relationship between soon to be twenty-five year old Italian Mafia princess Aria De Marchi, and twenty-eight year old, Bratva assassin Lucca Dyshekov. Two and half years earlier Aria De Marchi lost her mother, and she herself almost died, leaving our heroine in a coma for close to six months. Upon awakening, Aria is suffering with retrograde amnesia, and presently is unable to remember any of her earlier life. Sold to Lucca Dyshekov for sins of the father, Aria soon discovers there is more to her history, family and new life than she could have ever imagined. Both hating and growing to love our story line anti-hero, Aria slowly begins to recover her memories, memories that threaten everything she ever knew about her life, years ago. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Aria and Lucca, and the potential fall-out as Lucca is targeted, and betrayal rides high on the list of suspects.

Aria De Marchi doesn’t remember anything prior to her ‘accident’ almost three years earlier. The death of her mother weighs heavily on her mind but her father’s sins are about to place Aria in the direct line of fire, as she becomes a pawn in a bigger game of the Mafia vs the Russian mob. Lucca Dyshekov lost his entire family years before, but the death of a friend pushes Lucca over the edge. When Lucca gets information about his past, from the Mexican Cartel, Lucca sets out to take down the people responsible but betrayal from within finds Lucca fighting for his life.

The relationship between Lucca and Aria begins as a business arrangement, payment for sin, by our heroine’s father. Aria is an innocent, and knows nothing about her father’s life, but with the return of her memories, Ari begins to suspect that her father is not who he pretends to be. Lucca struggles with both his attraction to, and need to destroy our story line heroine but as their relationship grows, Aria’s love for Lucca is tested when Lucca discovers the truth. The $ex scenes are dramatic and intense, and not without some question of consent.

We are introduced to Aria’s father Raphael De Marchi; Lucca’s foster-father, of a sorts, Damien Mikhailov; Pakhan Grigori Ivanov; Lucca’s right hand man ad security specialist Jon, and Alexei; psychiatrist Dr. Belmont; as well as Lucca’s housekeeper Marylin.

MERCILESS VOWS is a story of betrayal and vengeance; family and deceit; secrets, lies, brutality and the truth. The premise is dark and gritty; the romance is aggressive and intoxicating; the characters are broken, powerful and hostile. MERCILESS VOWS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

[Review for Duet]
FYI - some trigger warnings (didn’t see noted on book but believe there are some on her website)

…clearly I’m on a roll with hate reading lately…

☹️ Not a fan of either main character, unfortunately (again, I REALLY wanted to enjoy this duet)
—> Lucca (mmc) was so cold, cruel & just flat for 85% of the book, unless he was talking about sex.
—> Aria (fmc) was a of course a doormat 🚪🫓 (so damn old) 🙄

🌟HOWEVER, I enjoyed both narrators! 🎧💗
* My absolute fav way to read books is having it on both KU & Audible! ~ sometimes I’ll read & listen in unison but usually it’s 1 or the other (I like to have on KU for reference)

[[ some SPOILERS below ]]

** 2 things I liked, kinda:
1) ending —— only if I pretend that Lucca apologized (he NEVER apologized, but she was apologetic??), hell at the very least he could’ve acknowledged maybe 1 of his mistakes, for example- not believing her about Damien, especially since at that point he started getting suspicious & was told by 1 or 2 others he was not trustworthy (that’s just 1 of TOO
2) secret reveals & plot twists were pretty interesting

SOME background (just scratching the surface):
-- Aria (fmc) had amnesia for the last 2 years prior to this & is slowly gaining her memory back (learn cause in this book)

-- Lucca (mmc) was to kill her per mafia law > Aria’s (fmc) father Raphael, murdered mmc’s entire family, including a 5yo sister & 6mo brother.
- He supposedly doesn’t kill her cuz they had a secret childhood bond (imo, if he ever felt that bond, he no longer does & comes off indifferent)
- SO, to avoid killing her (he marries her & plans to claim a company she is to inherit on her 25th bday (& more that I won’t go into). Same company her father, Raphael, manipulates & endangers her in attempts to take & get rid of her after - her mother left it to her after learning bout husband’s betrayals & when he found out he had her murdered, not knowing Aria saw (she regains this memory) Her gem 💎 of father also sold her to another mafia/pedo guy for sex when she was 5yo!!!
>> most known in book 1 & addressed/comes to light in this book

SOME THINGS I DIDN’T REALLY LIKE:

•~• Connection?? What connection? …often think mafia books do poor job of showing real connections, beyond lust & insta-lust….. in this duet I really did NOT feel a connection between these two (beyond lust).

•~• It’s 1 thing to keep her in the dark bout things (per typical in this genre) but in this duet, it defeats the purpose cuz she literally just takes it —> says, ‘I prob should be mad’ or ‘he’s a butthole’ ….hmmmmm….not the reaction I was expecting 🤪
>> often she learns things from others & then seems to either talk herself out of or lets others talk her out of being rightfully pissed &/or hurt. 🙄
>> other thing I don’t like is when stuff happens that I think fmc she find out about but doesn’t (like what Lucca did for the OW)

•~• OW makes an appearance & he gives her $ & sends her away to keep her safe (imo shows her same compassion as FMC & feels guilty for her situation - seriously?! She’s a selfish & hypocritical chic that treated Aria like trash & tried throwing herself at you!
>> I found this part pointless & damaging to the so called connection between the main characters:
- the fmc….NEVER finds out & OW….DECLARES her LOVE for him!!
- OK, I get trying to wrap up what happens w/the OW, but this just makes it seem like he cares for her cuz his character acts like a cold, uncaring prick most of the time, especially to Aria!! It would be different if at that point he showed more compassion & love for fmc, but that doesn’t happen (the lil bit he does comes much later)
- also, if ur gonna include this, maybe let it be for drama, by clueing fmc in & play off that (all it did for me was further my view that Lucca & Aria lacked a real connection)

•~• as usual the fmc is a gd doormat with NO backbone. She keeps apologizing to him! Come on!
She should be WAY more hurt & angry. She lets Lucca repeatedly treat her like shit. One chapter he talks about caring for her, next he’s admitting using her & then next she’s a weakness. He is cold & gives her breadcrumbs & she soaks them up pathetically. This continues thru at about 85% of the book (2)!! 🤯😡
>> He doesn’t grovel an ounce…but he does show remorse (lol… a little bit) He’s too selfish & pompous!

•~• Lucca NEVER defends her!!
(imo - no OTTJ alpha here)
** ex 1: Violet, Lucca’s prev on & off hookup & P.A. (OW) and Damien, mafia member (forgot his title, if it was given) Lucca’s father’s best friend — repeatedly call Aria a whore to her face & to him. He says nothing!! Umm she was a raped as a child & only been with Lucca (🧐 wtaf?)

** ex 2: Damien’s still pissed Lucca didn’t kill her, makes known often & conts to insist he do it - I get his anger & it’s their law, but Lucca married Aria to avoid killing her AND don’t forget, he plans to take the company she’s to inherit on her bday, in about 10 days & give it to Damien)
>> oh and, aaaannnd 🤭….get this, Lucca chooses to tell Aria about the plans for her company right after he rescued her from her father & a childhood rapist (no SA but trigger warning). Adding that, he’s not asking her permission (excuse me a**hole??)
…..THEN he thinks to himself that he STILL agrees BUT in the same sentence says it’s not really her fault (???) 🤔
>> find out later Damien isn’t the man Lucca insists he is.

Lucca to Aria after she learns most of the lies & secrets:

“Everything so far has been forced on her, everything except the attraction and the raw, primal need to be with each other. That part’s real, and that’s what I’m going to use to work with. “You can choose to stay with me after your birthday, and the company transfer is complete, or I can give you your freedom when I know you’re safe. If you stay with me, we stay married, and we figure things out. If you leave, we never see each other again. It’s as simple as that.”’

** He just talks about f$@cking her. He says he doesn’t love her, he can’t, makes him weak & she’s a weakness to be exploited - all stuff I’ve read time & again in mafia romance books.
BUT to me, in this duet, I believe him when he says he doesn’t love her & can’t (ever). He is so cold & barely makes an effort with her.
And for her part, she’s kinda delusional - she acts like his attention, good or bad & his weak words of affection are hard to ignore & she can’t deny her feelings for him & of course the whole body betrayal bs (again, I’m willing to buy these things, IF written in a believable way).

OKAY….done with my rant (lol I really do want to love these & go in with an openmind cuz I love mafia romance….most of the time) ❤️‍🩹

There's very little about the Mafia in this overly long, predictable, and formulaic story about a Bratva assassin who forces the corrupt governor of California to hand over his daughter like a piece of property so the Bratva can appropriate the company she was unaware she was about to obtain legal control over.

Also: there's a "gy*sy" prediction for some reason. Also, they were best friends when they were kids and reconnected again when he was ordered to kill her in college. Also, she now has a very convenient long-lasting case of amnesia that keeps her from remembering exactly how her mother died or a bunch of relevant details about people in the Bratva. Also, the supposedly clever assassin keeps a bag that has DNA evidence linking him to each one of his kills, which is certainly a choice!

I am still death. It was that other word that got to me. Rapist. I’m not that. Not in the least, and I don’t need to be.

At this point, you've forced a woman to move in with you against her will, physically forced her into intimacy she told you she didn't want, and told her that you'll do it again and again and she can't stop you. I don't care what he identifies as, this is about who is is.

Editing is very rough, with many misspelled/misused words.

2.5 Stars. This book clung to common dark mafia tropes, throw in some soap opera chiche, some "I'll never want you! ...but my body betrays me" sex, and then use trite and boring dialogue to drag us through to the cliffhanger ending. There is a lot of characters and maybe backstory (like Aria in a sex trafficking ship rescue.. wut??) that I think come from past books by this author which made it feel very chaotic to me. Additionally, I feel like "Merciless" is easily manipulated by his trauma and that kind of proved true in the cliffy.

This book took me days!!, days on end to read because I could not find an investment into the relationship until the last few pages. I had decided I was not going to move onto the next book until I came to those last few pages and the cliffy. So, now I'm going to give the next book a shot but I wish I had more faith in it being essentially compelling enough to not skim to the end.

I've now read several books by this author, but no more. All these books were exactly the same...same petite female lead character who's the daughter of the male lead's enemy, same plot where the male steals away the female to marry her in a power grab and to get revenge, same phrases, same poor sentence structure, same poor editing, same mixed tenses of past and present, same over-explaining and telling instead of showing, same sex scenes, same picking out of the wedding dress scenes, same small attempts at rebellions the female makes by not eating for a few days, same shower scenes, same murders done by the male lead to track down whomever killed his family, same traumatic childhoods, same sub-plots...same of every single thing except the names.

This smacks of lazy writing and lack of imagination.

I'm done.

I wish authors would stop manipulating amnesia to their liking!
First let me say total amnesia is more common in books than in life but putting that aside-you don't un-know things you knew how to do - like play an instrument
Second-the h was such a 'go with the flow'
OH, you kidnapped me? O. K oh, my father passed everything I own you you? O. K... I mean.....
And third-I was bored... I will not read the next book....

The first book in the Blood and Thorns duet, Merciless Vows is a well written dark mafia romance packed with drama, secrets, lies, deceit, danger, twists and turns, revenge, blackmail, tragedy, sizzling chemistry, betrayal, suspense, mystery, lots of questions, but very few answers, and plenty of steam.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

Omg. This was..... just such a great read!!

Our FMC, Aria is having it very tough. She woke from a coma about 3yrs and lost her memory. She still can't remember anything, and her father has control of her legally and the therapy session she attends aren't bringing anything to the surface but he tells he to carry on.

While having a drink in a club, under the watchful eyes of her dad's guard she locks gazes with a gorgeous guy..... As she dances with him, he injects her and she falls unconscious.

Aria wakes in a bedroom, which belongs to lucca, and is told this is where she's go live now, as she tries to get her father to take her back he hits her, calls her a little bitch and coldly walks away. This is the first sign to her that he isn't who he's played himself to be since she woke from the coma.

Lucca, our MMC, is an assassin for the bratva. He and Aria actually gave a long history but she can't remember that, and with the Vengeance plan he has for her father for torturing and killing his best friend, its best she doesn't.

He blackmail Raphael (her dad) to giving him control of arias therapy, changing her Dr which has a positive effect immediately. He also arranges a marriage, which leaves a company Raphael was counting on going in arias and her new husband, luccas, hands.

This is just the beginning....

Arias memories begin to return with haunting bad dreams and matching faces....
Lucca is digging further into Raphael history as he's not just included in his bratva, he's playing with the Italians and Mexicans too.... But who's involved?
He needs more info before he can take it to his Pakhan, and not just for his personal vengeance...

And then there's the love building between the stubborn twosome... both fighting it for difference reasons, but there's no denying that the sparks are most definitely there, the care is there... But they will deny until it causes possible tradegy....

That cliffhanger!!!!! AArrrrgghhhh!!! Seriously. Book 2. Now please!!!!!
.
Loved the way the book built and gathered speed - went at the perfect rate! Info was given at the same time as characters which is always better than finding out before!! Just a great read. Always wondering who's going to be the bad guy or the traitor!! And it's not who you think....!!!!

I received a copy of the book in return for an honest review
