I've never been the type to put stock into anything I couldn't see. If it didn't make sense, it wasn't for me. Until the day I walked into the Washington Hotel, and came face-to-face with her, the woman who has haunted me for the last six months. As my past and present collide, not believing could cause me to lose her, and the future written in the stars for us.
This starts off kind of rough. The separation between what’s reality and what’s not is clear but the inner monologue and the MMC’s actions and attitude didn’t line up for me and I was confused more often than not. I think this would have been better in 3rd person omnipresent. And if Elain would have been utilized more. I just didn’t enjoy the fact there was no indication if the curse could be broken. I also think spending more time doing things that rekindled Emmanuel’s feelings instead of relying on the soul connection would have been more engaging. I enjoyed parts of story and magic but didn’t love the execution.
My eyes still leaking. Idk how Kimmie managed to make me care about these characters so fast but she did. This is outside what we normally get from her and I hope she decided to step into her paranormal romance bag more. This gave ME everything I wanted. I was intrigued, confused, hopeful, devastated and then some…and I felt all these emotions in 150 pages. I don’t know what to tell yall except READ THIS BOOK. Let Emmanuel and Syren share their story with you because it’s a really good one!
Let me tell you, Kimmie Ferrell is going to take you on a romantic ride that will take you into another dimension when you read A PHANTOM AFFAIR. I loved everything about this great love affair that completely mesmerized me. Emmanuel and the woman of his dreams, Syren, are positively “Soulmates” that transcend time. The backdrop , the Washington Hotel, is the perfect setting for these lovers who come together in spite of an evil presence. It seems that evil also transcends time. Read the story; I guarantee you will get it! Great read! Kept me turning pages!
This book sucked me and didn’t let go until the end. I was all in waiting to see how it would end. I wanted more in the best way. I finished it in one sitting. I really enjoyed every page I hope we get Elani and Jacob’s story with update on this couple. Definitely recommend
A word of advice. If you are a speed reader, which I'm not (lol), find a way to slow down. The back and forth between what is real and remembered, can trip you up. After a restart though, I thoroughly enjoyed Emmanuel & Syren's story. The way Kimmie was able to make us feel their shared raw emotion, was a joy to read.
