But some stones are meant to be left unturned. What crawls out from under this one could upend the entire Worthington County criminal justice system.
Lethal Harvest is the hair-raising seventh book in the Detective Jake Cashen Crime Thriller series. A former police detective, author Declan James brings you authentic, small-town, crime fiction written by someone who's been there. This edge-of-your-seat mystery will keep you guessing until the very last chapter. Perfect for fans of Connelly, Box, Dugoni and Baldacci

5+ stars. WOW! Blown away. What a story. A real gut wrencher for Detective Jake Cashen this time. Just love this author and this series. These books just keep getting better, but this one was incredible. Grateful the author released it early. Can't imagine what's next for Jake, but I can't wait to read it.
Great who done it! Trying to solve a mystery that is 15 years old is hard. What is even harder is someone is in prison for the crime and most people are not interested in exonerating the accused and finding the real killer. Usually, readers follow the clues and have a few good guesses. Good luck with that.
I anxiously await the books as they come out. The characters in the stories are good people with their own baggage but it doesn't stop them from doing things the right way. The way the detective figures things out is really interesting and suspenseful. Love the series and Declan James other books
Love Detective Jake Cashen! Was so excited for this book release, and wasn’t disappointed. Great character development. Not too many characters where you forget who is who throughout the book. I like all the characters, and look forward to yet another “Jake” book to get lost in.
This new Jake Cashion novel was a great mystery. All the characters were so realistic and you were drawn into their story. This is a masterful mistreat written by Declan James. I highly recommend this series.
Lethal Harvest is the seventh book in the amazing Jake Cashen series❣️
Jake is once again drawn in to investigate a case, which was supposedly closed by a colleague, who is now running for Sheriff. However, after reading a letter and talking to a few pivotal people that were involved in the investigation, he has enough questions to reopen the case.
Unfortunately, nothing is easy and Jake finds resistance wherever he goes. But he’s nothing if not persistent and determined for justice to be sought and the truth to be revealed👏
I’m extremely excited to read the next book, as I got a brief teaser at the end of reading this. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️🩹
Wow. Talk about a cold case. A bungled cold case. This one kept me glued to the page.
I really fell for the victim’s family. Today, in a world made distant and cynical by social media, it’s easy to forget there are still salt-of-the-earth people out there. While these are fictional characters, they represent a real segment of our population you can’t help but root for.
Jake, Meg, Birdie, and some of the other background characters step up in this one, matching the altruistic traits of the victim’s family. We also see the results of the long-awaited election, though not the fallout. I look forward to seeing how that is resolved in future books.
The clues in this one are clever, but the author made a medical mistake. I don’t know how many readers would catch it, but it pulled me out of the story for a moment. It’s the one thing keeping this from becoming my favorite of the series. Even so, I’m looking forward to the next one.
Like the others in this series, this book was hard to put down. The characters have depth, and background stories on them continue to evolve throughout the series. This edition turns into a cold case murder mystery after evidence arises that a death-row inmate may have been wrongly convicted. The only negative thing I can say is two small errors that should have been caught by the editor: a wrong character name is used once, and a blood sample is said to be type AB positive, then 143 pages later it is type AB negative which is important to the case. I recommend reading this series in order to better understand the recurring characters and their relationships.
I avidly follow this series and 'Lethal Harvest' is my favourite so far. I am in awe of how the author pulls the reader in from the first paragraph, then see how well the pace picks up chapter by chapter. How he gets everything pulled together by the end is a lesson in masterclass and Declan James is one of the best! I hope this series continues to run for a long time. I am always excited when a new book joins the series. The only complaint I have is that these books are so very hard to put down once started. I hope this is a positive complaint and taken as so. Anyway, bravo Mr. James. A job very well done.
Jake working a difficult case, against terrible odds, as a dedicated investigator.
I thought that his character showed more vividly than in prior books. He worked with no one but Birdy, the Wise Men gave advice, but no real assistance.
I am looking forward to the next few books in this series, hoping that Jake shines as brightly.
…to get the next one. This seventh book was the only one I didn’t guess the killer within the first chapters, but that never stopped me from reading them, and this was one of the best in the series. I am not at all amused I won’t ‘see’ Jake, Erica, Meg, Gemma and Max again until July. The only thing missing is a dog.
I enjoy the Jake Cashen series, especially the characters. This episode was not as interesting as the others, as the plot was hard to believe. No cop would have taken on this case at the expense of all the others on his plate . Also, there was too much repetition. Sam was described as a good man too many times .
The story was filled with suspense from the first page. Try as you may you are not figure out who ordered Ruby until the end. Then you will be totally surprised.
Anything to do with the election or just piss you off ! Try to enjoy a story without worrying about the election.
I’ve loved every single book in this series and this was the very best. Jake Cashen is a detective in his hometown. Politics always seems to be in play and the interpersonal relationships add a lot to all of the books. In this one, Jake is trying to figure out who committed a gruesome murder 15 years ago. You’re not going to believe who the killer was.
Just when you think the storyline can't get better.. Read the story in one day again. Couldn't put it down. Good thing its snowing outside and I can't work I. The yard... On to the next..
This is a wonderful series that makes you sorry to have to wait for the next book by this author, Declan James!! He really knows his subject and how to present the suspense!
I liked this book. Jake Cashen has done it again, solved the case, or should I say, Declan James, the author did. I didn’t guess who did it, it was a surprise
