Vivian Williams won fiddle championships, played bluegrass professionally, composed and recorded tunes, researched musical history, taught fiddle, and wrote scholarly books and articles. In 33 interviews between 2017 and 2022, Vivian shared the stories of her life, her friendships, and her music. In these stories, she included details about the Northwest Folklife Festival and the other beloved contributions that she and her late husband, Phil, made to our cultural life. This book presents those stories set in historical context and sumptuously illustrated with photos taken mostly from Vivian and Phil’s vast collection.
