Rosie Hunt is a British author of cozy mysteries both puzzling and historical. Her books include the Lady Felicity Quick mystery series set in the green and pleasant countryside of southwest England in the 1920s.
A history addict and former journalist, Rosie grew up immersed in the worlds of Poirot and Miss Marple. This early exposure to baffling murder mysteries rather coloured her outlook on life, and it was only a matter of time before she wrote her own.
Rosie loves clotted cream, knitting, and Golden Age crime fiction and never misses an opportunity to visit a National Trust property. She lives with her husband and their fluffy, four-pawed overlord on a river in Northern Europe.
Murder at a Flower Show by Rosie Hunt is a 1920’s cozy featuring Lady Felicity Quick. Felicity has been staying with her grandmother, Lady Henrietta, in preparation for the Bickleford Rose Festival. Felicity is no longer writing for the newspaper but rather for a well known ladies’ magazine, Alex is still with the Journal. He is also here to cover any news from the festival. It all happens rather quickly as the winner takes the podium to thanks his supporters and breaks into a tirade introducing himself as the long-lost on of a local family, one who had started the family to begins with. Then, shortly after that he was discovered dead. It was an odd mix. He had lived most of his life in France and his two employees were French. His sister had isolated herself for years with only a huge, surley gardener to watch over her. There were others involved as well: Percy, for one, who was the son of Lady Henrietta’s friend, who was dead. Too many people to consider and no apparent motive. Lady Felicity told herself she had given up sleuthing but that all changed when her grandmother appeared to be a suspect, engendering her dismissal from many of her charity committees. .
Lady Felicity is an excellent character. Her softness belies her abilities in a time where women were still pretty much kept out of the mainstream. Alex was now her beau but they had not announced they were officially courting, and needed to do that. She cleverly put together a scenario that was not all together correct, but started the process, while keeping on the right side of the police. This is a cleverly done book with plenty of clues which did nothing to help the reader know the murderer and motive. Lady Felicity and Alex are an endearing pair. Very English. Excellent read!
I was invited to read Murder at a Flower Show by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #RosieHunt #MurderAtAFlowerShow
Another great edition to the Lady Felicity Quick Mystery series. Felicity is a celebrity judge at Bickleford's prestigious Rose Festival. She's enjoying herself amongst the excitement and beauty of the flowers until the winner is announced and is found dead. There are plenty of suspects as a town scandal takes center stage and Felicity's Grandmother Lady Henrietta is the prime suspect. I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the "world of Roses" not realizing how competitive and involved it is and was shocked when the murderer is revealed. The ending leaves us with the promise of a new mystery and an interesting development in Felicity's and Alex's relationship. Readers who enjoy quick-paced mysteries transporting us to the 1920's and featuring a unique female lead will not want to miss this series #RosieHunt #MurderAFlowerShow I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was another very enjoyable read. This time Felicity is involved in a prestigious flower show when the sudden death of a participant is ruled as a murder. The surprise reveal of his real identity adds more suspects to the list and Felicity is determined to get to the bottom of things especially when her grandmother is quickly identified as a suspect and her reputation is fastly being ruined within the community.
This was an easy read and I liked how Felicity and Alex's relationship is developing with each book. The history of the murdered man and his family was quite intriguing especially with his sister being quite tight-lipped. The reveal of the killer took me by surprise and I really enjoyed how this played out at the end.
My thanks to the author for a copy of this and this is my honest review.
As Felicity gains fame as a sleuth, the Bickleford Rose Festival invites her to be a celebrity judge. All goes well until the Best of Show winner, Mr. Fox, is murdered after his negative, accusatory acceptance speech. Not only do the police suspect Felicity’s grandmother, Lady Henrietta, but the local ladies begin to ostracize her from their charity work. With a deep dive into the breeding of roses, Felicity and budding beau Alex work to find the murderer and restore Lady Henrietta’s place in society. I love the cast of interesting characters Rosie Hunt creates at the British Rose Association. They all play a part in unraveling the mystery of Mr. Fox. I look forward to Lady Felicity’s next adventure, Murder by the Thames!
Pernickety P.wonders why she was asked to be a celebrity judge at the famous Rose Show? Strange behaviours persist and just who will finally be crowned and receive the prize? Just who is this strange man? How will his shenanigans reflect on the community? will reason prevail and tranquility return to this quiet village? Lady Felicity and her fellow sleuth attempts to seek the truth may be revealing. There are so many other intriguing aspects in this story, that you are sure to enjoy trying to find the solution before the investigators do!
Murder at a Flower Show is another fun book to read of Felicity's adventures. This time she is a celebrity judge for a prestigious flower show. The surprise identity of the winner of the Best in Show is quickly followed by more surprises.
I enjoyed reading Felicity's adventures in trying to solve this puzzle and especially liked the development of her relationship with Alex.
This is an entertaining read and I recommend it. I received a free advance copy and this is my honest review.
Who knew flowers could lead to such heartache. A winner struck down, a dowager in distress and Lady Felicity cast once more as sleuth if you’ll pardon the cliche because this time it’s personal. I enjoyed this story immensely. It was full of big surprises and a few red herrings to keep us guessing. The true culprit was quite devious at covering their tracks. What an interesting twist at the end for Felicity! I look forward to her new adventures!
The Bickleford Rose Festival which was supposed to be a success is marked by disaster when murder and sabotage are connected to this event .Lady Felicity Quick knows that there was a lot going on than meets the eye . She steps in to investigate when her Grandmother is effected too by this murder and chaos. A captivating read with an edge of the seat finish.
I enjoy Lady Felicity mysteries. I did not have this one figured out at all. Didn't know who did it until the reveal and was quite surprised. It was an entertaining read and even though there is a murder, the reader doesn't have to attend the murder so it doesn't feel so violent. Perfect for me. I enjoyed reading this book.
Lady Felicity Quick never shies away from a challenge, so when her grandmother is accused of murder by a "friend", Lady Felicity sets out to clear her grandmother's name. That's the beginning of a wild and very entertaining tale, full of twists, turns, red herrings, and roses. I had a lot of fun reading it, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good British cozy mystery. Enjoy!
The victim is narcistic, oily and thinks he is God's gift to women but I guess even such an obnoxious character is not totally deserving of death, close, but not totally. But when his announcement reveals closely guarded secrets and challenges opinions, perhaps he edges closer to that.
I always enjoy Felicity's adventures and this is no exception. Great read, as always, deserving of 5 stars.
It’s so good to read a fun cozy mystery that has good character and relationship development over the series, with no typos or internal inconsistencies as many kindle unlimited books seem to have. Also not easy to discern the various perpetrators. Very satisfying.
This mystery was a treat to read. It has a depth of emotion, heart and very relatable characters. The murder had me puzzled. But I really enjoyed the journey towards the truth. I was a bit sad when I finished the story because I wanted more!!!!!
Another great addition to this series. There is a cast of interesting characters and the mystery is full of twist and turns with a solution that was surprising. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Felicity finds herself entwined in a heady mystery of roses and murder. With the help of her love interest Alex she solves a tricky case with more than one culprit and makes a stride forward for women as she does it.
Felicity is quite aware of things going on around her. She puts people at ease and they open up with their secrets. She just has to get the police to accept her detecting, which she does quite well!
Rosie Hunt has written another fantastic addition to the Lady Felicity Quick Mystery series, “Murder at a Flower Show” opens with Lady Felicity as she attends a flower show near her grandmother’s home as the celebrity judge! It seems simple enough until someone is murdered!
Trying her level best to stay out of trouble, she avoids investigating at first. However, when her grandma is made out to be a suspect, Felicity realises she can’t leave the mystery to the police! Unpacking motive and opportunity, with her trusty hound at her side, she works to discern what is village gossip and family dramas and what is behind a murder!
Filled with wonderful writing, interesting characters, and a mystery with a twist, this book is delightful from the start with a very satisfying finish! For those who are following the series, I particularly enjoyed the increased time with Alex and her grandmama highly recommend it if you enjoy historical cosy murder mysteries! It’s a five out of five on the enJOYment scale!
I received a free copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
