Izzy Hazelhurst never thought loneliness, insecurity, or fear would play a part when she reconnected with Henry Carlisle, the boy she’s loved since she was twelve.
But Henry’s now an A-list actor, and though he’s shown her a life she could never have imagined, Izzy finds the price of his fame harder and harder to deal with.
Then, when Henry’s off filming his dream role, she learns she’s pregnant. Unable to tell him and feeling more alone than ever, Izzy runs to the safety of her grandparents’ home in Australia, leaving only an empty house for Henry to find upon his return.
Heartbroken and confused, Henry follows Izzy to Australia, determined to win her back, but he’s about to learn their relationship wasn’t quiet as perfect as he believed..
Can Izzy and Henry find their way back to each other, or is love built on childhood dreams never meant to last?

Laura Ann is a Queensland, Australian based author. Outside of writing, she’s turns her eyes square by sitting too close to the tv and immersing herself too much in the imagination of others. She’s also a book hoarder, who can’t seem to make her TBR shrink. As well as a self-taught sewer who frustrates herself by not reading pattern pieces correctly when she’s designing her own costumes for cosplay.

I found the story to be authentic and relatable, with characters that truly came to life. I resonated with the bubble of loneliness Izzy experienced and her struggle to express her emotions with ease. I picked up both Izzy and Henry's frustration levels and how they would navigate their paths moving forward. Honestly, I would have appreciated a bit more detail on the three-month living arrangements in Australia before Grace's arrival. However, for first-time effort, it was a sweet easy read. My favorite line in the story was "nurturing a connection that never truly fades", which perfectly encapsulates the essence of the story.
P.S. If the book cover winks at me, I want to read the story - loved the book cover!

Izzy and Henry began as the perfect friends to lovers until Izzy realised his lifestyle was too much for her. Izzy embarks on a journey of self discovery while questioning everything she thought she wanted.
I love the emotional journey Izzy goes through during the book and how she deals with her situation.
The characters all bring something to the story with their quirks and personality.

Uncomfortable is a book written by me, I've spent the past five months looking at it nearly non stop, sending it to two editors and six betas. To say I'm finally an author is actually really incredible.

While my book is in the month before publishing, I'm going to read my proof copy. Not just as the author, whose trying to find those last minute issues but also as a reader.

It's only fair I review my book and take off the author hat. Before I start reading, I'll give it an automatic 3 stars. Just for the sake of making a dream come true..but as the story goes on, the scale can easily go lower or stay at 3.

I think this falls into the "celebrity romance" trope BUT in saying that, the story doesn't heavily focus on the celebrity element but rather snippets here and there..Henry's an A-list actor while Izzy isn't. This is also a "pregnancy trope" but it's not necessarily a surpise pregnancy. It legit mentions Izzy is pregnant in the synopsis but there is literally a line that says "a unplanned surpise." So..take that as you please.

The fun part of writing this book was researching other countries. Uncomfortable has a dual citizenship to UK and Australia, though majority of the story is set in Australia and has brief sentences mentioning America.

This book is a stand-alone and an ambiguous ending; allowing the reader to interpret how Henry & Izzy go from the epilogue.

By chapter 27, my eyes started to get all teary. 🤧

There is a few punctuation errors, that'll hopefully be caught before publishing.

Overall Uncomfortable is a short easy read.

One thing I do hate is due to the height of the book, it feels so awkward to hold. Definitely feels like the sizing is off but eh..

The playlist for this book is roughly 4 hrs long, but the story only takes about an hour to read. So, hitting play may not matter too much..

Looking at the cover art and what's mentioned in the book is kinda funny. Bedside table photos definitely reflect in the artwork, specifically mentioning the airport photo..could kinda match that.

One final thing..the page count is weird. From first page to chapter one, it's labelled page 1 - 8 than come chapter one where at page 1. That's just odd. Definitely needs to be fixed before publishing.

As the author of this story, I can't wait for y'all to be introduced to Uncomfortable. I do hope you give it a chance. Thank you to everyone's support throughout my first book journey.
