A new Green Ranger has arrived, but his identity remains a mystery. Meanwhile, Lord Drakkon has returned, fleeing from something that instilled fear in him, which is a truly ominous sign.

The teenagers are navigating their lives post-"Necessary Evil," but the Omega Rangers are in a high-stakes race against time in space, hunting down the Empyreals—those god-like creatures that can obliterate a planet in the blink of an eye! They’ve got a wild plan brewing, and it involves breaking Lord Drakkon out of Zordon’s prison. Talk about taking risks! Now they’re galactic fugitives, dodging danger at every turn.

Back on Earth, the stakes are just as high with a deadlier Lord Zedd wreaking havoc, fueled by the power of the Green Chaos Crystal. Angel Grove is under siege, and the Power Rangers are in a desperate battle to save their home. Will they rise to the challenge, or is evil finally going to claim victory? The action is relentless, and every moment counts!

This epic adventure with the Power Rangers features drama, action, and suspense, as Billy secretly helps Grace Sterling create a new Green Ranger, while the Rangers try to infiltrate Zedd's dome trapping the citizens of Angel Grove.

I love seeing the origin story of Zordon as an Eltar warrior, and how he transforms from an insecure and flawed individual into the brave Zordon we know. The Eltarian's ongoing protection of the work is also fascinating. Astronema's villain origin story is both captivating and heartbreaking, especially considering her kidnapping. The Rangers continue to kick ass, although Aisha's character can be annoying at times. Despite this, the story remains action-packed and heartfelt, with the Rangers' battles taking center stage.

The time has come to join the battle in the Eltarian War.

Good to see Drakkon more of a focus again. The writing is still a lot slower to progress or generally do anything interesting than the earlier Higgins stuff. It’s a nice improvement over the beyond the grid stuff though.

This follows on from Necessary Evil, which I thought was a fairly straight-forward book series but then was told in such a jumbled order - it was a complete mess. In the poorly titled "Book One", the flashbacks are much more obvious and labelled. The story even begins with one; 10,000 years ago with the Eltarian's Zophram, Zordon and Zartus, battling the Hartunians and their enslaved Ortivox. In the modern day, Zordon wants to track the new Green Ranger who turns out to be , and we already know is working for Grace and Billy. There's more betrayal when the Omega Rangers end up with the motivations of dealing with the greater threat of the Empyreals; the "space vampire" race we have seen before in Necessary Evil. Meanwhile the main Power Rangers are dealing with the return of Lord Zedd who is infused with the green energy crystal and unleashes green energy infused Chaos Putties into Angel Grove. Another betrayal/twist is that . You see a flashback of a young girl that becomes Astronema, then in the modern day, temporarily teams up with the Rangers. There are some stories of Rita as a child to end the collection.
