I received an ARC from Booksprout and I'm willingly leaving a review
Really interesting facts, but mostly about elections, politics, people's moods depending of who was president, or under which influence the country was under, and the likes. Not much and/or nothing about the people's habits, food, clothing, buildings, etc. That's too bad because that defines a country also makes us understand them more. Written more like an essay than a book, there are many repeats from one paragraph to the other.

The content of this book is great. The actual history of the Dominican Republic is fascinating. However the writing style was as dry and boring as possible. It was hard to get through, and it was difficult to remember what I read afterwards because it was delivered in such a monotone, school assignment type of way.
