This is a short and sweet tale about a baby elephant who learns to stand, walk, nurse and run during the first few hours after he is born. The narrative is short and is good for beginning readers and the illustrations are wonderful. Our youngest brought this book home from her first grade class as part of her reading homework. It wasn't much of a challenge for her, but we all enjoyed reading it together.
