The more I am reading about Ambedkar, the more I am realizing that how much the political theories of today’s so-called ‘Ambedkarites’ are different from the thoughts of Ambedkar himself. But before discussing about this issue, I want to discuss about this autobiography book, especially the inspirational parts.
After being deprived from many privileges, Ambedkar in his childhood, never lost hope. Instead, he considered himself as ‘special’. Babasaheb’s love for books is highly praised. In current times, specially in social media, many people discuss Ambedkar’s criticisms on Hinduism as well as Islam and Christianity. But how much we should take from these criticisms?
Ambedkar clearly mentioned that he was deprived from learning Sanskrit due to the narrow-mindedness of his Sanskrit school teacher. So, he learned Farsi instead. So, it can be assumed that he learned about Hinduism from fake translation of Shashtras. So, his criticisms of Hinduism should be dismissed. But his criticisms of Islam and Christianity should be considered as authentic, as he was learned and well-equipped in Farsi and English.
How much he was unknowledged about Hinduism was proved by the fact that he translated ‘Dharma’ as ‘religion’ in one go!
The Congress, which now yells ‘Caste’, ‘Dalit’, ‘Ambedkar’, ‘Constitution’ etc. for 24x7 to divide the Hindu votes, can’t tolerate a single criticism about Gandhi. It calls everyone ‘terrorist’, who criticizes Gandhi. But the same Congress worships Ambedkar who criticized Gandhi like thunder! In his words, “Gandhiji is a corrupt yogi who dwells in the kingdom of fools”. Ambedkar also explained how the Congress party defeated him in election and conspired to prevent him to enter the parliament.
The Communists, who shout today, “we fight for the Constitution” will be shocked to know that Babasaheb himself wrote in his autobiography that the Communist party opposed and even cursed the Constitution of India.
My favorite chapter of the book is ‘Communism and Buddhism’, where it is proved that the problems, which bothered Karl Marx to create ‘Communism’ were already solved by Gautam Buddha many centuries ago. It proves that Ambedkar’s mind was not fully colonialized.
