The first Bowery book fast became one of my most favourite books by Matthew, and I was extremely excited on finishing that one to hear there was going to be more! Although, I then proceeded to wait until every instalment for Bowery II was out, because I knew it would drive me insane waiting for each part to be released!! Was it worth the wait?? Fuck yeah it was!
Vaughn wastes no time at all in getting back into the brilliant depravity and horror of the previous book…. and then he proceeds to ramp it up, a hundredfold, with no let up, giving your gag reflex a gag reflex!!
Michelle is off on a sightseeing trip by herself, she wants to take photos at the lake, and stops by a diner on the way. But she doesnt go unnoticed, a couple of familiar faces are looking out for her… Herded into a barn with others like her, she quickly realises the severity of her situation, but shes not going to take it lying down! Imminently she is introduced to Mother Cow, and just exactly what goes on behind the scenes, its not a pretty picture!
Back in the present day and The Supervisors have arrived, making everyone at the farm a little nervous, to say the least. The have got some serious explaining to do and The Supervisors arent easily placated.
Meanwhile, Sandra tries to make her escape, but its littered with horrific obstacles, until she meets Walter, and the wall…. and it seems that her destiny may well have been laid out for her all along….
Is revenge about to be served, in devilishly large portions? Can The Supervisors keep the old family tradition going? They have fresh meat now…. so to speak! 😉
With vivid descriptions, too vivid at points 🤢, the imagery was crystal clear, the sounds fine tuned, and all your senses got a severe battering. A tale of abuse, torture and humiliation of the highest degree. Broken women, their minds snapped completely, living in a hell of hugely sick, twisted proportions, yet showing a strength unlike any other. So much depravity, debauchery and just plain wrongness. Once again Vaughn brings emotion into the story amongst all the disturbing and horrific scenarios, making you feel real empathy for the cows and their predicaments.
It was also really cool to get the horrendous backstory on Mother Cow, very imaginative, a brilliantly disturbing insight into how her and the Bowery itself came to be. Crazy wild!! And the continuation of Sandra’s story was an awesome touch too.
Fans of Bowery, get on this. Fans of Matthew Vaughn, get on this! Just…. get on this! Preferably on your hands and knees, and dont say a word….unless it’s MOO! 🖤

While it eventually, albeit loosely, connected, the initial portion of book two appeared to be a repeat of the prequel, with recycled scenarios and lines, leaving me far less engaged than I had been with book one. I like the backstory and information in part two, which clarified some of my questions from book one. However, I still have a lot of questions and believe there are plot holes. Also, the plot took a supernatural turn that I was not expecting or excited about. Part three was the most semi-interesting section of the novel, but I was just impatient to finish it. Personally, I regret reading the sequel, especially since I held such high regard for the original novel. Overall, the demon, witch, ghost, and mysterious woodland did not appeal to me; I preferred the more terrifying reality that the first novel provided.

We return to the Bowery, Sandra survives after the attempt to make her part of Mother Cow, she escapes and is free... but not for long.
We also find out the origins of the Bowery and the devilish occult happenings out in the forest that birthed the very first mother cow: this was my absolute favourite part of this book.
We have more horrific S/A, torture and Violence, but with a huge c****d devil with demon fingers thrown in for added measure.
I enjoyed Bowery 2 more than its predecessor, however this one like the first needs another edit, as there are small mistakes and repeats that keep bringing me out of the story.
It's left open for a Bowery 3 and I would certainly check it out if it's released.

I enjoyed how this book explained the backstory and origins of the farm and mother cow. I thought the storyline was a little confusing and difficult to follow. I understand it may have been written that way to tie everything together in the end, but it did not flow easily for me. I would still read Cattle Drive to complete the series, but I think Bowery was my favorite.

I love everything about this series! This book gives you a lot of the back story for the mother cow and answer a lot of questions. Everytime I thought I knew what was going to happen I was wrong. I will read any Bowery book that Matthew wants to grace us with.

This book had a promising start that I really enjoyed - but the second half lost me. The plot took a supernatural turn that I could not get into.

This book felt more like a well paced story with the background we finally needed. Honestly this would have been great if it was included in the first book rather than a sequel.
