Bozzrah Apostolou was nothing more than the dancing dog in the Oserov’s slaughter circus. A fixture. A pet. Beaten, starved and chained, he’d looked out from the bars of the cage that his life had become with indifference, and an acceptance brought on from knowing little else. But even the most well-trained animals have their limits. Bozzrah finds his when Iskra Ozerov gives a command to put out the only light in his personal dark.

Having bitten his master, Bozzrah must cross an ocean, escape a sadistic fallen angel, avoid instigating a war, and save the life of a woman who may well prove more dangerous to him than all of it combined.

A better review will probably follow, but this book was just as good as the first. Bozzrah is innocent of all crimes and Roksana is perfect. Can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

I think the best thing about this is the author's note warning that all of the characters were problematic in some way, and yet, by the end of this, I can only say that every character in this is perfect and I love them. Bozzrah and Roksana could do no wrong and I love everything about them.

With every installment I read into this series, I find myself more and more desperate to find people to read these books. I need people to talk to about these. They are unique and fresh and stand apart from every other paranormal romance I have slogged through before this. The characters are richly written and they come off the page completely. We might focus on a specific couple but there are so many things going on in the background that the pacing never seems to lag. Characters that we've fallen in love with stay present and important throughout the book while not taking over the story from our main focus. Bozzrah and Roksana had such vibrant lives crafter masterfully by the author. They felt like real people and you can help by feel the heartbreak for them through every additional trauma they collect while trying to survive together.

This is dark and the content warnings are important to read. No word feels wasted while you read this. Everything leads up to the ending that feels deserved for everyone. It's fast paced, violent, disgusting at times, and heartbreaking at others. I cannot recommend it enough.

This second book in the supernatural High Blood series focuses on Bozzrah's story. The amazing world-building from the first book continues, and our favorite characters from Book 1 return as well.

Bozzrah is essentially enslaved by ruthless villain Iskra (Amarantha has nothing on her brand of evil!) and forced to follow her every command. He does so, shouldering whatever punishment she doles out, because he believes Iskra, in the past, has saved him. But Bozzrah hits his limit with her when he finds out that a woman from his past - someone very important to him - is now on Iskra's hit list. And he will burn the world down before he'll let anything happen to Roksana.

Even as Bozzrah and Roksana fight to save one another, they both feel like they don't deserve each other. And you're left wondering if they are ever going to realize that they NEED to be together! As they run for their lives, trying to find a way that promises safety from Iskra's reach, you will find yourself screaming at them to just let their love win out!

The action is still non-stop in this second book, the plot twists always twisting, the intense scenes even more intense. Once again, in between the times Bozzrah and Roksana are fighting for their lives, the banter is witty and oftentimes downright hilarious.

The second book in this trilogy takes us on as many twists and turns as the first, while following Bozzrah's story. Featuring appearances from our favourite characters from the first book, it was such a pleasure to get to know Bozzrah and Roksana better. With dark, gritty action and just the right amount of angst, this book is peppered with the author's signature witty banter and excellent one-liners.
