I don't usually read horror, although I obviously read Ian D. Hall's books - it's hard not to as the editor.
Still, this one got me as a reader too. Psychological is my jam (and bread and butter), and I, Death is perhaps more psychological thriller than horror but has elements of both. Add in strong female characters - indeed, a female protagonist in the form of Detective Inspector Ingrid Bridge - and I was pretty much sold from the first page.
