She’s searching for peace and grace. He’s ready to step into his next big adventure.
Haunted by memories of the fateful day that changed her life, Luna Campanelli seeks a fresh start in Pendleton, Oregon. Life in the wild western town is nothing like she imagined, although the rugged beauty of the area soothes her troubled spirit. An unlikely friendship with one of the area ranch hands lifts her hopes, until she discovers the cowboy isn’t who he’s led her to believe.
Hunter Douglas didn’t intend to hide his identity from the woman he met on the train, but when she assumed he was his sister’s hired hand, he didn’t correct her. He never anticipated forming such a deep connection to her, especially when thoughts of her continue to infiltrate his carefully made plans. As a recent college graduate with an inheritance he intends to use to start his own ranch in Pendleton, Hunter must decide if he is willing to open his heart and include Luna in his future.
Will they embrace the unexpected love that has blossomed between them, or let fear tear them apart?
This sweet and wholesome romance is a story of love, healing, and the power of hope in a delightful western setting. Join Luna and Hunter on their journey as they discover what it truly means to love unconditionally.
A hopeless romantic with a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure, Shanna Hatfield is a best-selling author of clean romantic fiction written with a healthy dose of humor.
In addition to blogging and eating too much chocolate, she is completely smitten with her husband, lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller.
Shanna creates character-driven romances with realistic heroes and heroines. Luna is a beautifully written story of loss, hope, and new beginnings.
Luna Campanelli is trying to start over after a tragedy in New York, City. Deciding to travel to Pendleton, OR to visit her cousins and try to heal.
Hunter Douglas, after completing college left Asheville, NC for Pendleton, OR., to work for his sister training horses.
Luna and Hunter never dreamed that a chance meeting on the train will change their lives forever.
The energy between Luna and Hunter is fun-loving with some comical scenes. Hunter’s compassion with Luna and her PTSD like symptoms dealing with her attack is heartwarming.
I loved the mystery of Hunter’s identity and finally getting his own story.
Luna’s ability to hold her own, as well as learning to lean on others for healing was a hard decision she handles with grace.
Shanna always brings stories that remain in my heart long after I finish. Superb writing with emotional subjects she delivers with kindness.
A young woman trying to forget the past; a young man trying to forge a path for his future. Luna has to learn to wish again and not to assume what is best for Hunter. Hunter is ready for love and forever, but is waiting for the perfect time to make it happen; he learns to seize the moment (with a little help from a couple of law men).
This was a delightful story filled with historical events woven through the plot. I felt as if I had stepped back in time and lived the story with the characters. A gentle, tender romance with a sweet HEA.
I received a complimentary copy and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review
I don't know how she did it but Shanna brought me to tears several times, throughout this story. With Luna loosing both parents at such a young age, and Hunter at the age of 19 finding out his fiancè really dispised him and only wanted his money. Both of them had a very tramatic adolescent to adulthood life, especially with Luna loosing her fiancè dying in her arms. Through several struggles and feelings of inadequacy on both parties they are able to overcome heartache through the love for each other and family. This story is worth every minute you will spend reading it and will more than likely re-read time after time.
Luna went through a very traumatic situation back in New York and the after effects still haunt her. She felt getting out of New York and going to Pendleton, Oregon to stay with family and work for her Aunt would be perfect for her. As we all know, you can't always run from your feelings and Luna has a few episodes of panic. However, being with family, in a mostly quiet town, she starts to find some peace. She also finds a certain cowboy handsome and charming. Do they have a chance? This is a great story, I know you'll enjoy it.
Luna Campenelli was orphaned at 7 and came to America/NY to live with her father's brother. A year ago she had been walking in the streets with her fiancé when shots broke out. He was killed. Luna has a scar from a bullet on her neck. She has anxiety in loud situations. She is on her way to Pendleton, OR to stay with relatives. Her family thinks that getting out of the city will be good for her. On the train, she meets Hunter - a scruffy cowboy. When she arrives in Pendleton, she blacks out when they get off the train because of the noise and people. Hunter takes her to her cousin's shop. They are smitten with each other, but Hunter had a fiancé who was only after his money. He inherited money from his grandparents when he turned 21. He's heir to a plantation in NC, but prefers OR. His sister is also there. Their mother grew up in Pendleton. So Hunter tries to hide the fact that he's rich from her. He thinks she's still in love with her fiancé. Luna finds out about his wealth and doesn't think she's good enough for him. The Italian relatives connive to get them together. Such a sweet book. Setting is 1914 so there are some cars, refrigerators, and electricity. Loved the setting and the history that was brought in.
This is an exquisitely written, unique tale of a young lady, Luna Campanelli, who was orphaned at a young age and was brought up by an aunt and uncle in NYC. When she is seventeen years old, she gets a chance to travel, by herself, to the West, where the rest of her Campanelli family lives! She finds so many interesting people, one who is striking in resemblance to herself, and many exciting discoveries! She has a shock at the difference in manners, especially table manners!! Of course she meets a handsome young man who works at her aunt and uncle’s ranch, taming horses. Their adventures are very special, but tend to get more and more challenging for some reason. This was such a dear book, and I hope you all get to buy it for yourselves to enjoy! I was a member of the ARC team. This review is written in my own words!
In am a huge fan of Shanna Hatfield and have read all of her books, so some may consider this as biased ;). She has done it once again. Luna is filled with all your favorites from previous books in the Pendleton series plus our new Luna herself. She is wonderful character. She is sweet, with issues and a hope of getting better as she moved to Pendleton to live with her cousins (the Campanilli family). Our handsome hero Hunter is incredible. I can just imagine him. How lucky Luna is to have snagged Hunters attention. This young couple takes on all of what life has to throw at them and conquers it. Shanna does an excellent job with characters, the quality, the premise, the....let's just say everything. It has It all. Totally worth the read. It is a clean read. Well done.
Oh, wow! I loved Hunter and Luna so much. I am so glad that Hunter got his story. I cried with Luna as she made a hard decision, and I laughed shortly thereafter when family got involved. I thought the author handled the PTSD-type symptoms and panic attacks well, and I loved the way Hunter responded to Luna during those times. It was also good to get to revisit some friends from past stories. On another note, I love the historical facts that this author places in her stories. Sometimes in a historical book, I will stop and wonder if they had whatever the story referenced at that time in history. However, with this author’s books, I know that she has done her research, and I can trust that they are historically accurate.
Hunter and Luna. Two people destined to have their lives intertwined by, some would say fate but I would say by divine intervention. Meeting on a train, Luna is trying to put a life altering event behind her which she has relived in her mind over and over either by dreams or loud noises. Today’s diagnosis would be PTSD which Shanna does a great job of incorporating it in Luna’s life but also how it affects others close to her. I loved how Hunter is so patient with Luna as she struggles to overcome her past and move on. This author always does an amazing job of researching the time period of her stories and they just come to life from the very first page. This story is about hope, laughter, struggles to overcome, love, and faith to guide them. Roni Fody May 31, 2024
Luna is visiting her cousins in Oregon. She leaves her home in New York because of traumatic events in her past. Hunter works on a ranch but is actually much more. They meet on the train as they are both coming to Pendleton, OR. Luna is afraid to open her heart because of past loss; Hunter is afraid of being targeted for his wealth. Can the Lord overcome their pasts and bring them together?
Shanna Hatfield is a gifted writer of Christian fiction. I have enjoyed all the books of hers that I have read.
This is a very enjoyable story that emphasizes family relationships, true love overcoming obstacles, and trusting the Lord.
I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.
Wonderful addition to the Pendleton Petticoats series by Shanna Hatfield. Luna is on her way to Pendleton to visit her distant relatives. On the train she meets Hunter and they become friends. Little does she know that he is a wealthy man who is looking for land near Pendleton. He is also the brother of one of her cousin’s wife. He mistrusts most women because of a past experience with with a woman back East. Luna is still morning her ex fiancé who was shot and killed. Their attraction grows as they get to know each other better. Luna feels she’s not worthy of Hunter since he is so wealthy and she was orphaned at a young age. *I received this as an ARC reader and am leaving my unbiased review.
I love the Pendelton series and this is a great new addition. Hunter and Luna meet on the train as she is coming to visit her family. She is hoping for a fresh new start, leaving behind the traumatic events that cost her fiancé his life and has brought panic attacks she can not control. Hunter doesn’t want Luna to know who he is, or his financial status, as his ex-fiancé was more interested in his money and not in him. It’s a great story intertwining the lives of these two young people with the friends and families that we have come to know and love
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
This is such a sweet romance. Luna is just an ordinary girl with a few challenges from her past, but she maintains her youthful innocence and isn't bitter at all, which is nice and reflects the love she was shown by family. And similarly, Hunter, he just seems like a typical young guy, full of ideas and dreams for the future, not wanting to let people down, and at the same time prove himself as an independent man. I so enjoyed reading how these 2 came together. When you read a romance novel, you know they're gonna end up together, and part of the fun is trying to guess how it's going to happen. I did not guess this one at all!!
Luna and Hunter are perfect for each other. Luna has had so much tragedy in her life. She has PTSD and is afraid of loud noises and crowds. When Hunter lays eyes on her, he is instantly smitten, but he doesn't let her know who he really is. He was engaged before, and his fiancée was only after his money. Now he is wary around everyone. But he soon realizes that Luna is not interested in his money. She is sunshine and lights his life. She, however, doesn't think she is good enough for him. It is going to take some convincing for her to stay in Pendleton and the people in town are happy to help cupid along.
This is a tale of Luina and Hunter. Luna is an orphan, but a very special woman. Hunter comes from a very effluent family, but he does not want to be sought after for his money or position. Hence, finding Luna is both a trial and a temptation as they are both are intrigued with the other. She carries fear of not being worthy and he has had his heart broken by a money grabber. How will this issue be resolved? I found this epic story very moving and rewarding. Don't miss out on their struggles.
Return to Pendleton! Luna comes to Pendleton to live with extended family after suffering a great loss. She doesn’t plan to ever love again—it is just too painful. Then she meets Hunter! You will love the way this author weaves a story of renewal and new love. You will want to sit down and eat at the restaurant! It is wonderful to catch up with all the families in Pendleton. It is a stand-alone book but after reading it you will want to read the others. If you like clean, sweet, funny, inspirational romance, don’t miss it!
I was excited to read this book and to return to Pendleton and see the next generation grow up and fall in love. Luna is struggling and has come to Pendleton for a fresh start while Hunter is looking forward to his future and is dreaming, and working hard, towards it. I loved how Hunter cared for Luna and made time for her amidst his busyness. And the interfering Aunties (& Uncles) who helped things along! An engrossing read that kept me entertained for several hours! I totally recommend you read it, though best appreciated when you have read others in the series.
This was an incredible read from start to finish and grabs your attention from the first to last page. The story is believable with lots of warmth and love. Luna is a new comer and a welcome addition to Pendleton. We met Hunter earlier in the series and know he is perfect for Luna. Hunter and Luna had some bumps along the way that resolved in a happy ending. We got to see several characters from prior stories in the series. So much fun to see where they were in their lives. Highly recommend.
Luna by Shanna Hatfield is a wonderful clean romance part of the Pendleton Petticoats book series. Luna and Hunter were interested in each other from the time they met on the train. It was fun to watch them fall in love. I just love the way this talented author brings together all the people from the past books. It’s such a joy to be able to see how their lives turned out. I hope Shanna Hatfield never stops writing this series. I have fallen in love with Pendleton and all the family’s that live there. I highly recommend this book and series!
I found this story to be absolutely heartwarming. The characters are well written and grow such a wonderful connection. Luna heads to Pendleton, Oregon to be with family after some tragic events in her life. She needs an escape to reset her life and heal. While on the train Luna encounters who she thinks is a rough and tumble cowboy named Hunter who is a cowboy but he’s well-mannered and comes from a well to do family. This is such a sweet story I couldn’t put it down.
This was a sweet story of restoration and healing. Luna came to Pendleton to her cousins Catarina and Tony after suffering a traumatic loss. She battles fear and panic attacks, but as she develops a relationship with Hunter Douglas, his kindness and patience help her to find healing. It was so much fun to visit Pendleton again. Shanna writes such wonderful characters and it always feels like visiting friends.
I received a copy of this book as an ARC, but the review is my honest feelings.
I love Luna and Hunter’s story! It is 1914. After a terrifying accident in NYC, Luna travels by train to Pendleton Oregon to visit cousins and stay to work for the summer. Traumatized by her fiancé’s shooting, Luna has panic attacks when confronted by loud noises. Hunter Douglas climbs on the train in Baker, Oregon and takes the only remaining seat, next to Luna. I love their sweet romance and the facts about the beginning of WW1.
this is a wonderful story. luna and hunter meet on the train to pendleton he jumps on board the train still dressed in his chaps and spurs and the only seat left is next to luna. this is a great story of friendship and misunderstandings. i enjoyed meeting all of the people again. could not put the book down till the end . looking forward to the next story. i was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review i had to read sadie again after this story
I loved this book! Luna was so relateable especially since I myself suffer from anxiety/panic attacks. I knew how she felt and how some situations can make life more difficult. I liked that she was brave and willing to step up and out of her comfort zone when someone was in need and Hunter was so patient with her and never made her feel less than because of her episodes. I loved their happy ending and seeing all the gang from the Pendleton Petticoats series.
After a terrible experience Luna needs to leave and what place is the best to heal, Pendleton. Her family welcomed her with open arms. And so does Hunter, literally, when she fainted. They became friends and got feelings that could lead to more. But he’s busy to build a life for himself and there’s more that stands between them. I love all the characters in this series, so nice to catch up with them in every new story. So much love and friendship and not to forget humor.
I totally enjoyed this book. Luna, a cousin from New York comes out to visit a cousin in a small town we all grow to live. Wealthy rancher Hunter falls in live with our Luna. Luna has just been through too much in her life and feels she would never fit in. A plan is hatched by some of the townspeople to fix this. Read this charming story. You will be trying to find time in your schedule to get back to it!
I really enjoyed this book. Luna has been through a very traumatic time in New York City in which her fiance' was killed and she was injured and left with panic attacks. She moves to Pendleton, Oregon where a lot of family lives. She meets Hunter on the train and they become great friends. She feels that she isn't good enough for him since he is from a rich family and she grew up in a poor family. I laughed a lot and cheered while reading this book. I definitely recommend it.
Shanna Hatfield always has some surprises in each book. No spoilers here. You will have to read for yourself. I love how each book in the series brings in characters from past books to broaden & complete the story & researches historical events to again give a broader understanding. She is one of my favorite authors. Thank you for posting your books on KU as I rarely buy books. Fellow readers enjoy.
Luna and Hunter have a wonderful story. They fall in love pretty quickly, but they don't see it. Their friends and family do, though, and help them along.
The story is realistic and exciting and includes many historical facts.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
Loved catching up with the Pendleton characters. Loved this story about Luna and the hardships that she has overcome. Love that Luna has an Italian temper like Caterina. Love how Hunter wants to help Luna and wants to show off for her while training horses. Great characters, humor and sweet romance.
