Lost in Tuscany

Rate this book
Predictable thirty-six-year-old Summer Andrews doesn’t realize there’s such a thing as drunk-booking a trip until she wakes up with a beastly hangover and a non-refundable singles-only bike tour through Tuscany. Not one to waste her hard-earned money and wanting to escape her impetuous mother, she quickly embraces the idea of going, even though she hasn’t ridden a bike in years and the only Italian word she knows is “gelato”. Summer arrives in Italy, fresh-faced and ready to find a possible love match. Instead of gliding through the Tuscan hills next to Fabio, she’s on a sweaty bike tour full of Lance Armstrong wannabes with matching bedazzled bike jerseys and spandex shorts. Relegated to the C-group of bike riding losers, her bike tangles with another in a Tour de France-style wipe out. Relieved to be off the tour and with adventure humming in her veins, she finds herself at the Rossi Olive Farm, knocking on the door of the charming, enigmatic Lorenzo Rossi. Summer takes her chances with a fun summer fling that quickly blossoms into something deeper. With the kiss of freedom fresh on her lips, Summer likes this new, sexy, confident version of herself. But when trouble brews back home, she’s torn between her sense of duty and her heart. If Summer returns home, she might lose everything she’s found in Tuscany.

Where are my romance and romcom lovers at!?! Or anyone who loves a fast-paced story that combines humor, strong women, and a whole lotta steam!

From the very beginning I just wanted to move to Tuscany just so I could hang out with this amazing cast of characters…and obviously it’s Italy, so why wouldn’t I want to jump right into this book!?!

Like all her other books, Sophie Sinclair writes a story that has you wanting to jump into the pages! There is always a bunch of laugh-out-loud moments, quirky characters, heart, friendship, and just the best kind of storyline to lose yourself in.

But the best part, like in all her books, are the real characters that take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions making your heart melt, has you getting good and angry, crying, and almost peeing your pants laughing - Oh the humor in this story is just the best! And I just loved the way I was able to relate and connect with each character.

As for the romance...This is an enemies to lovers that brings all the steam and tension I love!

If you are looking for a slow burn romance with tension, discovery and Italian atmosphere, then this book is for you.

Omg! My heart is soo full. I am in awe of Lorenzo. Like I might need to go to Italy.

Summer needs a change and apparently drunk Summer drank a bit too much wine and watch her favorite movie a bit too much and she booked a tour! Now she has to figure out how to BIKE! But an accident changes all that and she just happens to decide that California can live without her for a bit longer. She finds an Olive Oil Farm looking for an extra set of hands and just maybe it was written in the stars that she arrived at the perfect time

This book was fabulously designed. It was hallmark and Netflix romance all mashed together in the most delightful way. It had some spice that I wasn’t expecting but made it more fun. The characters were fantastic. Like I need Lorenzo but also won’t mind have Nonna as well. I loved Summer growth and Cara’s honesty. It just felt so real. I wish I could start from scratch and reread it all over again. Also OLIVE OIL FARM, this was beyond creative to me. I’m so used to reading about falling in love at a winery.

If you are a fan of Letters to Juliet, this book made me feel the same way that movie did

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and Sophie Sinclair for the ARC of this book

Sophie knows how to combine humor and heart with the perfect happy ever after and that’s why she has a forever fan in me.

“Lost in Tuscany” treats us to Summer, who has drunkenly planned a trip to Italy. Going solo has its own unique hiccups, but she makes the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity. When Summer’s path leads her to the Rossi Olive Farm, she meets Lorenzo Rossi. Lorenzo, along with his big personality family, challenges everything Summer expected from this trip. Is love a possibility? Can Summer trust herself and heart to this Italian family?

Sinclair mixes emotion into this story in such a fresh way. Found family meets obligation to home and family in a way that felt relatable. I found myself cheering for Summer and that she’d be able to have the love she deserves.

Bonus points for the perfect location — ITALY! Also this makes for such a fantastic summer read. The location! The people! The adventure!

Hi, it’s me. Just a girl wishing she was on a terrace in Tuscany, sipping wine, watching an incredible sunset, while twirling fresh pasta. I have always wondered what it would be like to drop everything and move to Italy. So I wrote LIT. One of my favorite movies is Under the Tuscan Sun. It is referenced in the book, but you don’t have to have watched it to read the book. I hope you can journey along with Summer as she finds herself in Tuscany. There is a content warning for an alcoholic parent. Barbara is not meant to be loved, but I do hope you can have some compassion for her. This book is about growth, finding love, family, and ultimately choosing your own destiny.
Grazie,
Sophie

!! I received an advanced copy from netgally !!

every single character was insufferable other than Noona...between Cara being the least supportive friend ever and the MC being so self-centered this was really a hard read...one of the hardest dare I say.

i had to speed through the last %70 because it felt like we were just rereading the same conflict that happened earlier in the book and it felt repetitive. i know people of all ages can be confused but they're in their 30's acting like kids.

i know miscommunication is a popular trope but lets try not talking to your partner at all after they opened up to you! the first %30 was really good and i was so engaged with the characters but after the doctor visit it feels like the story should have ended...idk maybe that's just me.

Italy, sun, summer, vacation, vineland, grapes, food, countryside, and of course, love. What more can a girl ask for. It’s all there in this delightful book. This is a hilarious love adventure who the main character Summer who was drunk while booking a trip only to find out it’s not the type of vacation she wants but ends up going.
I have laughed, giggled, sighed, weeped and smiled while reading the novel. It’s such an endearing romance novel that will still stick with you long after reading it. I can still remember this story couple months after reading it( I know I’m late. I’ve been so busy since summer hit!)
This book gets 4 1/2 stars from me and I’ll be recommending it to anyone who’s interested.
Thank Netgalley and Sophia Sinclair for this sweet charming eARC. As usual, all of my reviews are purely my own opinions without any influence from any publisher.

4.5 stars. Lost in Tuscany is the perfect summer escape! If I ever travel to Italy, I’ll be going on the night of San Lorenzo because it sounds so magical 💫

Summer is having a bit of a “midlife crisis,” as she drunkenly books a bike tour in Italy. She is brave enough to go, and I absolutely LOVED following her on her journey to find herself. She ends up working on the Rossi Olive Farm where she meets Lorenzo, who tries his best to stay away…I could feel their tension seep through the pages. Lorenzo is sure to be a top favorite book boyfriend. He is sweet, he is thoughtful, he is protective, and I love when he spoke to Summer in Italian 😍.

Lorenzo’s family is unparalleled to any other. They brought so much heart to this story, especially while Summer was struggling with her mom. I want to go taste Fiore’s cooking, tour an olive farm, and meet Nonna. My goodness did I love Nonna’s shenanigans that had me roaring with laughter. She was a hoot and an incredibly wise lady.

I’ve read all of Sophie’s books, and I’m always wanting to reread them as soon as I finish. I never want her books to end. I always admire how Sophie can write such witty banter and hilarious moments that will make you laugh, but also write such sweet, romantic scenes that will make you swoon…and they always have the best found families that will tug at your heartstrings 🥹.

Do yourself a favor, and put this on your summer reading list!!

This story focuses on Summer, who is in her mid-thirties and on a whim books a single bike trip to Italy. She is hoping to find something other than bad dates and a mundane job. A bike accident and another leap of faith have her staying in Italy for the summer with the Rossi olive oil family.

Overall, this is a light summer read, with all the key elements: scenic backdrop, hot Italian guy, FMC trying to find herself and of course family drama. The main love story really felt like insta love for me and that was a little hard to believe. I would have liked a little more development of their relationship. I loved the Rossi family, they are great and remind me of my own Italian family! If you need something light, a palate cleanser or beach read definitely give this one a try. I also now want to learn how to speak fluent Italian!

Rating: 3..5-4/5

Lighthearted, fun summer read. Lorenzo was the perfect MMC, and Nonna was amazing.

My only gripe - as a girl from Florence, is that he beginning in the email from the tour agency, it mentions that they will organize travel from “Florence to Tuscany”. That’s like saying you’ll organize travel from Rome to Italy. Florence is the capital of Tuscany…so yeah. You can organize travel around it but you’re already there. Minor detail but one that stuck out.

Other than that it was a lovely read - who doesn’t love an enemies to lovers with a little bit of a scheming Nonna tossed in!? Ultimately, Summer got her Under the Tuscan Sun romance!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

Attention dreamers and wanderers:

If you dream of exploring the Italian countryside, and/or falling in love in Italy, then this sweet summer romance read that comes out June 14th is perfect for you!

Lost in Tuscany is about our main gal, Summer Andrews. Summer accidentally books herself a non-refundable trip to the Italian countryside. While on her trip, Summer decides that she doesn’t want to return to her life back home. Summer ends up working for the Rossi Olive Farm, and meeting the handsome and dreamy Lorenzo Rossi.

This book was giving “Letters to Juliet” and “Under the Tuscan Sun” vibes. I thought the love story was so so sweet. I cried twice (it’s hard for a book to make me cry). I did skip over most of the spicy scenes, but that’s just a personal preference.

If you love found family, enemies to lovers, and adventure, then you should add this sweet read to your summer TBR.

Check the trigger warnings before reading the book, as the book does explore alcoholism and addiction.

A woman drunkenly signs up for a singles bike tour of Italy?! Sounds like my ideal romcom novel.

Unfortunately I wasn’t even 30% into the book and the bike tour was over?!?! All of a sudden the plot switched gears and it was all about the female MC staying in Italy and being stuck in this old farmhouse with a grumpy son of the landlord? Still a good storyline but completely left field from the start.

I also didn’t like anything about the characters. The female was way too obsessed with love and not being single which came across as clingy and desperate. Her best friend was annoying and completely unsupportive and the male character and his whole family was just way too over the top and trusting.
Overall, it had great potential but didn’t work for me at all

Thanks to netgalley for my gifted copy. I loved the sweet cartoon cover!!

Thank you Sophie for the advanced copy! As always, I love Sophie’s writing and stories, and Lost in Tuscany was no different! I loved visiting Italy and now want to go visit the villa and try Fiore’s food! I adored the aspect of found family too. Summer and Lorenzo’s relationship was sweet & hot! I was here for it!!

The only thing that got a tad annoying was Summer’s friend, solely because she only came around to being happy for Summer at the end, which was a shame.

I’ve read all of Sophie's books and can honestly recommend all of them! I can’t wait to see what’s next!

This is how I WISH my 3 months in Italy went. I can’t be mad because there’s a “smoking hot Daniella” character so I’ll take what I can get. I really enjoyed how the author didn’t drag anything out— love, arguments, miscommunications— it was all reasonable and not frustrating. I loved practicing my Italian throughout the story but thank goodness for the translations to double check. I am a Nonna Rossi stand.

A cute summer romance that flew by! Summer books a Tucson bike ride after a horribly bad date and ends up staying the full summer. It’s very Under The Tucson Sun, and a feel good, happy, predictable book. It was just a great story, the drama not overly done and I love the ending!

oh romantic italy, i wish i was there! i absolutely love it when books focus a lot on a good setting. this area, its way of life, and its people just win over your heart as you read. i really enjoyed this read, though i went through it a bit slow. the first part about the bike tour somehow feels a bit too long, and when i look back i sometimes forget its in the same book haha.

Synopsis: If Under The Tuscan Sun and Eat Pray Love had a baby it would be this book which sees the main character move to Italy to find love, and herself.
Pros and cons: Was this predictable? Yes. Did I love it anyways? Yes! I loved the imagery of this story, the Tuscany backdrop, and all of the Italian influences. It was a great escape and a portal to another world- everything a good book should be.

Lost In Tuscany captured a beautiful snapshot of summer in Italy! I’m just getting home from an Italian honeymoon and this really did make me miss such a magical place with food and family as central parts of the culture.

However, the execution of the story wasn’t for me. The characters felt very two-dimensional— specifically the two MCs. Summer was supposed to be 36 years old but her internal monologue sounded like she just graduated high school, and was often quite cringey.

Lorenzo, on the other hand, had some promise but was overall just a stereotypical hot Italian man. The only true depth we get from him doesn’t come til the end (his art) and feels a bit like an afterthought.

I did actually enjoy almost all of the side characters! Fiore and Nonna Rossi are my favorites (of course) but I was not a fan of Cara.

I am personally also not a fan of an epilogue pregnancy 🙅🏻‍♀️ but that is truly my own opinion, and I know there’s a lot of controversy on this.

Now I will say, my favorite thing about this book, other than the setting was the famiglia. I come from a broken home myself and have always dreamed of having that large, close knit family. Summer has the same kind of feeling; of not belonging until she meets the Rossi’s, and I could really relate to that.

Overall a two stars from me; loved the concept and setting but was not a fan of the execution.

One person’s 2-star read is another person’s 5-star read, so don’t be afraid to give it a go! It will have you desperately longing for Italian food and cool summer nights.

“There’s something about Italy that’s magical. The people are so friendly, the views are spectacular. It’s like real-world problems don’t exist here.”

Lost in Tuscany was an amazing weekend read for me.

The novel covers the Life of Summer a graphic designer by profession in California and how one drunk evening watching her favorite movie under the Tuscan sun makes her accidentally book a bike tour in Tuscany, Italy. It was too late for her to ask refund for this serendipity eventually leading her to go on this single bike tour to Italy. Apparently, she did meet an amazing soul in Harrison, a decade younger than Summer, during the trip. I liked his character because he was the one who nudged her to extend her trip to Italy and explore the whole of Italy.

The novel follows Summer meeting the Rosso family and the hothead and handsome Lorenzo who she hooks up with & falls for and has an amazing bond with his entire family.

I like the description of Italian houses &Villas and most importantly the pizzas and gelato without which the trip to Italy is an utter waste. I loved summer's bond with Lorenzo’s Nonna(grandmother in Italian) his mother Stella& his sister Fiore, who was very sweet and easygoing. Also, she had a great friend in Clara & Damian. I envied Summer for having friends who constantly looked out for her.

I also enjoyed reading about the process of making olive oil at The Rosso family-owned olive farms,& Cafe that had a garden theme with a stunning view of Olive orchard. The major part of the book descriptively mentions the Italian food, the breathtaking and mesmerizing architecture and not to forget the detectable Italian cuisines. I drooled 🤤 at the mention of hazelnut gelato & Strawberry 🍓 shortcake 🍰 prepared by Fiore. She was an amazing chef.

What I didn't like about the novel was how it took so long for Lorenzo to realize he loved summer but was reluctant because he had a bitter past with Gabriella his ex-fiance. Also, I didn't like the character of Barbara as she was a terrible mother to Summer but later revealed how she was depressed when she had her at 16 & things got better between the mother and daughter.

I love the mention of the Italian language in multiple instances in this book. In a way it was quite educational and had a lot of information on Italy. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and did feel that I accompanied Summer to Italy 😅. The book walks us through Italian culture.

Overall I loved it. It was very different from the novels I read in the past. The character development of Summer was well written and gives us a lesson that we should explore things and not hold ourselves from the Joy we deserve. An impromptu trip taught her a lot about life and people.

If you are looking for a vacation or weekend read, this book is perfect for you, and would recommend it to the ones who fancy Italy and Italian cuisines.
All in all a fulfilling read.

Thanks, Net galley BooksGoSocial & sophie Sinclair for the ARC.

P.S. Beware of Italian Men as Lorenzo advises & & Italian Drivers as suggested by Fiore.😂

Thank you to BooksGoSocial and Sophie Sinclair for the opportunity to review Lost In Tuscany in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Within the first chapter of Lost In Tuscany, I knew I would fall in love with this story as soon as it mentioned one of my favourite movies, Under The Tuscan Sun. I love a story where the protagonist seizes a moment, flings themselves into an adventure, and rediscovers/reinvents themselves. Stories of transformation are powerful and inspiring and fill me with hope, especially with a protagonist who's an older female character. I feel like in the world of fiction, everyone is stuck under the age of 35. I immediately fell in love with the protagonist, Summer Andrews, a character who loves Under the Tuscan Sun, who is my type of gal.

Summer Andrews finds her inner Frances to channel to make her own Under the Tuscan Sun adventure come true with a smaller-scale house remodeling. She falls in love with her quintessential enigmatic, handsome Italian boss, Lorenzo Rossi, while working on his family's Olive farm. The romance is full of sweet, adorable moments as they try to resist the attraction with a perfect balance of allure and tension. As their connection deepens, their relationship heats up a bit of spice, and all things are nice.

Sophie Sinclar brings to life the essence of Tuscany with her gorgeous writing with incredible accuracy, immersing the reader into the Tuscan landscape filled with rolling hills and patchwork countryside home to vineyards, olive groves, and charming villages. You can feel the sun on your face, smell the aroma of all the vividly described cooking that will make your mouth water, and soak in the soul of Tuscan's magical light around sunset and the golden glow that traverses across the landscape like a sea of liquid gold.

Her storytelling blends heart-warming romance, complex troubles of human relationships, pain and trauma that can inflict on us, and the strife of doing our duty and longing for the freedom to cast off our chains to follow our heart to deliver a charming, emotional, and engaging tale.
One qualm I have with all these books about moving or going to run off to another country in fiction – immigration and border control don't seem to exist or mind these characters flitting off to live and work anywhere they please. If only life were like that.

Lost In Tuscany is pure escapism – a charming, heart-warming romance that basks in the glow of the beautiful scenery of the Tuscan landscape. The twists and turns of this story will break your heart and lift you with the romance and adventure at the heart of the story – woven with comical moments to keep the story light, fresh with clever dialogue and amusing incidents.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. The summary seemed right up my alley. I’m obsessed with books about Italy and I could definitely relate to Summer’s situation. Growing up, I was obsessed with Under the Tuscan Sun as well, so I thought it was really funny Summer kept referencing that. I also fulfilled my lifelong dream of going to Italy last year, so it brought back some memories. I thought the story didn’t spend much time on the bike trip, but I loved it. The situation with the mom was definitely tiring. I felt bad for their strained relationship. But overall, the book was sweet and spicy. I loved it! I would definitely check out more books by this author.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary travel romances!

“I feel like I’m standing on the ledge needing to jump, or I’ll never learn to fly.”
“And when you land, then what? Better to be a tree with roots than a bird with wings.”
“Maybe so…but I need to be a bird first to find a safe place to land.” — Lost in Tuscany by Sophie Sinclair

Where do I even begin?! I loved this book!! I was pulled in right from the beginning by Summer and her horrendous date, turned drunken Italian bike tour booking. I found her so relatable and easy to love because she was so honest. Summer is stuck in a rut. A dating rut, a monotonous work rut, and a continuous cycle of trying to help her heedless mother without any success. When she realizes she can’t cancel her drunk-booked tour, she takes a chance and heads to Italy on her own where things are not what she was expecting. Sweaty and tired from all of the biking and overachievers on the tour, Summer is relieved when she has a bike accident that cuts her your short. Not wanting to give up on her dream on an Italian adventure (and a chance to find love!) Summer finds herself at Rossi Olive Farm where she just might get what she’s hoping for.

Lorenzo Rossi comes across as grumpy and rude when first meeting Summer and thinking she’s taking away his opportunity to reno an old house on their property. But as Summer gets to know him, we realize just how sweet and adorable he truly is.

Honourable mention for Nonna!! I adored Lorenzo’s Nonna so much! She was funny and cute but also such a mischief maker! I’ve read a few books lately with cute/funny Grandma’s and Nonna is near the top of the list for my faves!

I also really enjoyed learning about olives and olive oil throughout this story! That was such a fun add for me and really helped me to feel immersed in the storyline.

I think Lost in Tuscany would make an amazing film and I would love to see that happen someday! It would be so amazing to see this story unfold on a screen with the gorgeous backdrop of Tuscany.

Great setting, engaging plot and characters🌄🚲

4-4.5🌟stars
I found Lost in Tuscany a really enjoyable, light romance with undoubted reflections of and numerous references to the movie Under the Tuscan Sun about an American woman who impulsively transplants her life to Tuscany. Female lead graphic artist Summer Andrews loved that movie and at a low point drunkenly books a nonrefundable bike tour of Tuscany late one evening. She's definitely not an athlete and ends up enduring the biking until an accident fortuitously ends the tour but launches her into temporarily living the rural Tuscan life on an olive farm, welcomed there by an elderly owner who believes in "signs" and puts her to work in the olive oil tasting boutique. Of course, Nonna has a handsome, single son who runs the lucrative business and the romance is set.

Nonna and her extended family were strong secondary characters, right down to playboy doctor Angelo. I liked the way the author incorporated translations for the Italian dialogue by having people translate for Summer, who comes to Italy knowing only a few words of the language. And the drama with Summer's mother back in California added some obstacles and poignancy to the romance. Male lead Lorenzo's moves to keep the fire burning between him and Summer really made for a heartwarming ending.

There's not a lot of touring apart from a brief visit to Pisa and some nook and cranny villages in the countryside, but author Sophie Sinclair does a good job setting the farming, picturesque hills and small town Italian scene. I would definitely read more by this author.

Thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Lost in Tuscany : Sophie Sinclair

Format: eBook (NetGalley)
Publisher: BooksGoSocial
Publication Date: June 13, 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summer Andrews is a 36 year old graphic artist who has been very unlucky in love. One night she goes on a date with a guy from a dating app, and this date is horrible. She leaves the date, and goes home to wallow. She drinks a bottle and a half of wine and eats a bunch of cookie dough. She also watches her favorite movie, Under the Tuscan Sun. In her drunken stupor, she books a singles-only bike tour in Tuscany.

She wakes up the next morning to emails about the tour and she has no recollection of booking it. She tries to get out of it, but turns out drunken trip booking isn’t a reason for a refund. She decides to go on the trip in hopes that she will find herself and love along the way.

During the tour, she ends up in an accident and fractures her thumb. This renders her unable to finish the tour, but she really doesn’t want to leave Italy. Her accident leads her to Rossi Olive Farm where she meets Lorenzo Rossi. He’s a hot Italian man, and just what Summer needs. Will this end in true love or heartbreak?

Sophie Sinclair does a great job writing Summer’s story. She throws in humor, sadness, and lots of love.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sophie Sinclair for this ARC! I highly recommend getting this book when it releases on June 13th!

After the worst date in the world and a bottle and a half of wine, Summer wakes up to find herself booked for a trip to Italy, a bike tour of Tuscany. Unable to cancel, she flies there for a two week holiday and finds herself in the hospital after a nasty bike spill. Fate intervenes and she begins working/renting out a place on an olive farm and meets an incredible family and incredibly handsome single Italian man, Lorenzo. Two weeks turn into months and she realizes she found what she has always wanted, if her life back home wouldn’t get in the way.

This romcom was cute - I adore ex-pat protagonists finding themselves in another place and Sinclair does a great job of setting the scene in Italy. There’s plenty of Italian language, food, and family mythos, and their romance is very, very sweet. I yfound the steamy scenes to be a bit mechanical, but they definitely weren’t the point of the book. She also deals with family trauma and addiction in a way where it is given weight but it doesn’t drag the story down with it. This is one of those books where you pretty much know how it will work out, but you are still good with it - it’s a lovely journey to get there - and it’s all about the location and the falling in love. It feels like a perfect summertime read.
