Tasha Ghouri was watched daily by over three million people as part of the country's most popular reality Love Island. But what sets Tasha apart is her superpower. Something that once made her feel like an outcast is now her greatest source of strength and community. We all have something that sets us apart - Tasha's superpower is her identity as a Deaf woman, what's yours?
In Your Superpower, Tasha will describe how she overcame hurdles growing up to feeling confident in embracing who she is now. She will interview people from all walks of life to detail disabilities and differences of all kinds, such as blindness, alopecia, acne, mental health, and will show how you can use your difference to make a difference, and how to be unapologetically yourself.
From love, respect, growth, determination and responsibility, Tasha will reveal how she embraces her superpower and encourage you to love, and use yours, for good, too.
such an incredible book. tasha is incredible. i've been a fan of tasha since she was on love island in 2022 & my gosh, i am so so so so proud of her.
tasha is so inspiring & is such a role model. i'm only 17 but i look up to tasha so much. i saw tasha on the strictly live tour in january & she was phenomenal.
in this book, tasha talks about growing up as a deaf person & deaf dancer & her experiences as a deaf person with her cochlear implant, making friendships, etc. we also hear from her dad, tarek and her mum, nicky. they speak about the moment where they found out that tasha was deaf & how it was for them learning british sign language (bsl).
also, in the book, we hear from other inspirational people who talk about their experiences with sexuality, disabilities, etc. for example, bradley riches, who speaks about his experiences being autistic (i'm autistic so found bradley's section very moving), tasha's friend, ty, who speaks about their experience with being non binary, and many other people, too.
then, towards the end of the book, tasha talks about her experience on the strictly come dancing live tour (which, may i add, she was INCREDIBLE on) and how being on strictly come dancing was one of the best experiences of her life. tasha also talks about her breakup with andrew (tasha, if you're reading this, i'm sending you so much love.)
if anyone gets the chance to read this book, please do!! its such a phenomenal book. & it also sends across such an incredible message which is to EMBRACE your superpower!
I’ve honestly loved Tasha since she appeared on love island, she quickly became my favourite islander ever and seeing her flourish after the villa has been amazing to watch. She’s just overall a very talented and inspiring person. Reading this book has been so fun, I really enjoyed reading about Tasha’s story and how she came to be it’s made her even more inspiring in my eyes. She’s a good story teller and just overall has a life worth reading about, if she ever wrote a memoir I would be the first to buy it. This book is about embracing what makes you different and turning it into something spectacular, in this book Tasha interviews people from all walks of life people with Tourettes, dwarfism, autism, ADHD, ect. Reading about not only Tasha’s experience with being deaf but also so many other people’s experiences with their differences was very enlightening and just overall educational. I very much enjoyed reading about what Tasha had to say about how I could better myself and embrace parts of me that might seem different.
2.5 ⭐️ Nothing I haven’t heard before, but hearing Tashas experiences and her way of coping-I was curious about. I think this book is good for young people as it was an easy read and packed with advice and perspectives to help them better understand, embrace themselves and others with differences.
