Imagine a book that doesn't tell you when, where, or how to invest, but instead, guides you on where not to invest. By focusing on the pitfalls and red flags, this book potentially reduces the risk of your money getting caught up in fraudulent schemes or poorly managed ventures. In today's fast paced world, where everything is influenced by digital technologies, it’s no surprise that our economy is deeply affected by these advancements. The landscape of business and economy is undergoing dramatic shifts, driven by rapid technological progress. This disruption will only accelerate with the growth of AI, 5G, and the internet. But what led two hedge funds, backed by Nobel laureates in Economics, to go bankrupt? If even these brilliant minds can falter, it’s clear that the so-called pulse of the market is often indecipherable. This book explores the complexities of digital transformation and provides insights on how to navigate this new terrain with caution.

"Digital Fortunes" is a nonfiction, finance book helping us to understand the market complexities and the emerging trends in economy. This book helped me to understand the mechanics behind markets and made me a more aware person. In addition, it delves into the emerging trends and technologies that are reshaping industries, offering readers a roadmap to avoid common pitfalls. The book takes dual approach, first it gets us introduced to the market and then brings the digital economy in the discussion. This is definitely not what I was looking for but it's a tresure to cherish nonetheless. Knowingly or unknowingly I found a book that helped me to learn market psychology. With practical advice and real-world examples, the book equips investors with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions in an unpredictable market. Although it was really informative, I would have loved more insight on the digital asset area.

Engaging narratives in nonfictions are hard to come by, but the writing in this book is very simple and easy, yet does not compromise with the narrative, making it an engaging read. The writing is excellent both in terms of quality and style. Whether you're a seasoned investor or just starting out, this book serves as a crucial guide to safeguarding your financial future amidst the relentless pace of digital change. Recommended to people interested in reading personal finance.

⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
In a world transformed by digital technologies, the landscape of business and economy is subject to dramatic shifts, the disruption of which will only accelerate with the growth of AI, IoT and much else. The book aims to explore the impact of these technologies, delving networks which have helped create the platform economy, and cryptocurrencies, where truth and falsehood can be blurred.
The book has an interesting premise that aims not towards financial literacy per se, mostly because there a ton of books available for that, but towards helping an average Joe learn how digital currencies have and will continue to affect the economy on an atomic level. Swain provided a great number of case studies, from Amazon to Zomato and Paytm, discussing how their business model generates profits and aims to build a conglomerate.
The research that went in this book was very much visible upon reading it, and with the citation notes given at the end of the book, it made referencing for further study quite convenient.
The writing was concise, gripping and expansive.
Digital Fortunes by Smarak Swain is a great read for those interested in finance.

This book is somewhat different from other managerial books, whether it be about marketing, investment, or digital marketing. Usually, we find books that provide us with ways of planning investment or a better blueprint to follow for successful expansion. This book is not a guide for sure. I feel like I am seeing reality through some real case studies. The chapters provide detailed information on ongoing issues, which has been well-researched. Of course, these days we are stuck between coping with fast-changing technologies and our old mechanisms. Not everyone is comfortable using platforms like Zomato and Amazon to move forward. However, we cannot deny the convenience and support they provide. Similarly, investment policies, benefits, and patterns have advanced to the next level. Therefore, this book is a must-read for upcoming and current investors, and hopefully, it will be beneficial for many. I particularly enjoyed the case study section and the diagrammatic representation of different situations. Overall, it was definitely a good read.

As the author has mentioned this book is a guide to navigate a rewarding but risky area that is crypto. Crypto is very misunderstood in various parts of the country. Not every sector feels like investing there.
The author has shared how the investment firms work in crypto and how the businesses are getting effected with it.
The best part is that the role of digitalization in shaping the market is well explained in the book.
The book is well researched and the language of the book is simple.
I feel this book is a must read for the investors and the policy analysts.
