The Prodigal Son Had Returned

Dale Metcalf had spent fifteen years running from his past. Then a string of suspicious deaths linked to a fierce epidemic forced the outbreak specialist to return to his boyhood home on Lobster Island with Dr. Tansy Whitmore - the one woman he'd never stopped loving.

But the sinister incidents that coincided with their arrival on the windswept coastal island - a mysterious plane crash, a raging fire and a near-fatal attack - proved that someone desperately wanted them dead.... And now, in a race against time, could the two stormy lovers combat danger - and desire - before it was too late?

Jessica S. Andersen is an American writer of mystery and medical romances. She obtained a PhD in Genetics, but when she finally settles on a single career, she will have been many things: a doctor of molecular genetics, a patent agent, a freelance editor, a professional horse trainer and riding coach, a fiance and the proud owner of a pair of corgis. But if you ask her who she is, Jessica will say, "I'm a writer. The rest is all background research."

Jessica lives in a smal farm in eastern Conneticut with her own personal hero, Brian, as well as the corgis, two cats and a handful of young horses, who she claims are investments but never seem to get sold.

This book in the series for me has to be the best so far. Not great, but better than the rest. I felt there was a lot less eye rolling than the others and I think a key point to this was I actually liked the characters. Armstrong built the right amount of atmosphere between the characters and did not go overboard so this for me was a little more believable.

The book for me did drag a little, there was a lot of repetitiveness. I have never known a man so in tune with his emotions, and I thought I was an over thinker! How Tansy didn't lump him one I will never know, but then this is supposed to be romantic. I like Tansy as a character, this mainly due to the way she thinks and acts being relate-able. Dale on the other hand is too much in his own head as I mentioned before, I won't hit hard on this though as he wasn't soppy like others that have been in this series.

3 stars for Body Search. I actually cared what happened in the end and that kept me reading, however this wasn't a masterpiece but was a nice easy read over my lunch break.

Enjoyable and fast read. I liked this because the setting is on a island and there was just enough suspense to keep me reading.

Body Search is a great romantic suspense by Jessica Andersen. Ms. Andersen has provided readers with a well-written book furnished with an outstanding collection of characters. Dale has been gone from Lobster Island for 15 years but he must now return. He's against his ex, Tansy, being assigned to go with him, but he doesn't want her to lose her job. Tansy and Dale's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Jessica Andersen in the future. Body Search is book 4 of the Boston General Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I started this book unsure of what to expect and then it quickly sucked me in. Then when I thought things had settled BOOM sumn else snatched my attention. I thought it settled then BOOM sumn else. And repeat. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and will be keeping this for a reread later on. I did guess a part of the big twist but that's not unusual for me. I still was able to enjoy it.

if you take the sex out, the story is about people getting very sick and the doctors can't find out what is causing it??

Normally, I am not too keen on reading 'Intrigue' novels, simply because the number of suspects is limited to the people introduced and described in the front of the book, minus the hero and heroine of the story, of course. That generally does not leave much room for mystery and suspense, simply because the baddy or baddies has, of course, got to be one of those. So, the less people listed, the smaller the 'pool of suspects'.
What sets this particular story aside is the fact that it is set on a small island which limits the amount of people present, nonetheless, there is still plenty of mystique as to what exactly is going on. Add to that the fact that the hero and heroine have a history together - and very common, every day issues - and you have got a good storyline right up front.
Jessica Andersen spins a wonderful tale out of these components with plots and subplots intermingling perfectly, making this book a compelling read indeed.

Interesting plot. Writing left a little to be desired, I was scratching my head way too many times not understanding what the author was trying to convey. This was especially true with scene descriptions. For instance, there's a cave scene where our hero spend enough time exploring by flashlight to find food, but yet somehow misses other "rooms"? I couldn't figure out the layout required for that one to happen.
