About the author

Sarah Hobbs

10 books11 followers
Sarah Hobbs is a poet from South London. Born and raised on the streets in and around London they bring these experiences passionately to their poetry.

Seen regularly on the Spoken Word scene around London and the South East of England they are one of the up and coming talents, even describing themselves as the Syllabic Seamstress of poetry.

Their style is very simplistic and mirrors that of Benjamin Zephaniah, their great inspiration and idol.

They believe that poetry needs to focus on a younger audience in order to entice people to love this not so common art form.

Simplicity and rhythm is therefore crucial, because it is this that makes it available and enjoyable to anyone, of any age, race or gender.

I was honored to read this brand new poetry book. I spoke with the author beforehand, who told me about the eye opening family research they had done in order to write this book.

As soon as I started reading, I could feel the author's honor and appreciation for their family history. The poems are so gentle, sweet, and loving. This is not simply a history book of a family, but pulls you into the nuances of the family culture.

It was such an experience getting to almost be a part of this family for the moments in which I read this book.

Readers will find the language accessible and easy to comprehend, even if they are beginners in the world of poetry. It's a beautifully simple and simultaneously complex book.

One of my favorite poems was "Two Hills." As I read, I was pulled further and further into the story it told.

Thank you, Sarah Hobbs for the opportunity to read this. Congratulations on your publication!
