I totally loved this series. This is a four part series. I'm so so happy that I got to read this in full as I'm sure I'd end up screaming if I had to wait to read any of them.
I've got to admit I don't normally read paranormal stories. This book slipped my net and I'm so glad it did. This is a really gripping read that I read within twenty four hours. Here's my short review of each book....
Give Me Reason This is book one in the series. Wow I was so glued to it. I so admire Vivienne. What a strong character she is. She's got a shit life and a shit pass but hasn't let that pull her down. Micah... Who is he? I need to read book 2 to find out more.
Give Me Hope Oh my dayz. I just loved this book. We find out who Micah is. I've got to admit I haven't read many paranormal books. I think part of me thinks I'll not be able to follow it. However the author has done such a great job with this that I'm glued to this collection.
Give Me Desire This is the third part in this series. Things are moving on now and the picture is becoming more clearer for me. Loving this series.
Give Me Love Omg I could barely breath reading parts of this. I was so hoping it would go the way I wanted it to. This may have been my favourite book in the series. The inside of my cheek is raw from me biting it.
I received this series as a complimentary copy in return for an honest review. I highly recommend this great read.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Ms. Zoey Derrick at a convention in Minnesota. I purchased the entire Reason Series after attending a session she spoke at and I'm so glad I did.
This particular series is about two people finding out they are angels, falling in love, and fighting evil. The book was well written with a solid plotline that kept me interested. More than anything, I felt the series detailed a very realistic relationship of two people from start to end falling in love. Their challenges were different in the sense that they were paranormal in essence, but regardless, it evenly matched what an average everyday relationship might face.
My favorite part of what Ms. Derrick created in the series was the visualization of the angel's wings. How they extended, their sensitivity, etc. Truly beautiful. This series was low on the heat scale, probably around 4 out of 10 for me which suits a standard sweeter contemporary romance. I'd recommend this series to angel loving paranormal romance readers and look forward to reading more of this authors work in the future.
“An angel is he Alone in this world With the wealth of three He’ll meet his true love Answering her song His wings he will grow His heart will respond Him she will follow His wife she will be Two joined making three”
Give Me Reason: The series starts with Vivienne Callahan trying to start her life over again after escaping an abusive relationship. Struggling to make ends meet she is determined to take care of herself; she’s been doing it since she was six. She is sometimes too strong for her own good. Mikah Blake is a young, handsome CEO of his own company who is drawn to Vivienne by a sixth sense. After meeting her at the diner she works and seeing the poor condition she is in, he is determined to be her knight in shining armor, to save her but Vivienne doesn’t want to be saved. She’s determined to do it all on her own no matter the cost. This first book left me with more questions than answers. This story deals heavily with domestic abuse against women. You come to understand her jumpiness and hesitation in trusting Mikah. At times Mikah seemed at stalker and I thought he was in cahoots with the abusive ex-boyfriend. By the end of the story you a left with a very big cliff hanger and an even bigger question; Why does Mikah care about Vivienne so much?
Give Me Hope: From the time he walked into that diner and saw Vivienne Callahan, Mikah Blake knew his life would be changed forever. The fiery redhead takes him by storm and on a merry chase. All he wants to do is help her with no strings attached but Vivienne has never had that in her life. Vivienne doesn't want his charity. She's insistent on making it on her own. When the sadistic and evil Riley, Vivienne’s ex and father of her unborn baby, strikes again Mikah is forced to take things in his own hands and I for one was grateful. Mikah does all he can to take care of Vivienne without taking away her sense of independence while struggling to understand the changes occurring within him. We learn a lot more about Mikah in this story and why he’s doing all these things for Vivienne. It was good to learn that he wasn’t a stalker or in league with the ass of ex-boyfriend. It was also good to see finally get a little bit more of where the series was actually going. While this story doesn’t leave you with a cliff hanger it still leaves you with a ton of questions.
Give Me Desire: To me this particular story doesn’t answer any questions but asks more. When finally see Vivienne coming to terms with her life and the fact the Mikah only wants to help her without wanting something in return; though she still has problems excepting that help. We also found out that Mikah and Vivienne are sharing the same dream. We finally get to it see Vivienne and Mikah’s wings fully without them being in a dream. We finally get to some sexual chemistry between the two. Evil is stepping up its game to destroy them but you still don’t know why. This one also leaves you hanging on cliff; this time a sexual one.
Give Me Love: Mikah and Vivienne trained then successfully faced offed with Riley to make sure the world stays in balance while having a shit ton of sex. Vivienne turns out to be stronger for the right reasons not just being stubborn. We are left with the thought that Riley will get is just do, thank the Lord. We find out why Vivienne’s mother treated her the way she did. The wrap up to the end of the series gave a ton of answers and explanations about Mikah and Vivienne’s lineage. A lot of the background in this book should have been in the first three. This one was also harder to read with the different POV changes throughout each chapter. Though I am not a fan of first person the first three easier to follow and the flowed with ease. There were a lot of sex scenes in this one book. I would call the series a romance instead of a paranormal since there was not a lot of paranormal activity within the stories. Though a bit slow this was a well written series with a lot of emotion that others can relate too. Thank you.
I was provide a copy of the series by the Author for an honest review.
WOW I just finish reading this series and I love it, I did not want this series to finish I want more, love the characters love how the series turned out to be, this series grab my attention from the very first page, I couldn't put the book down I was hooked, this is one series that everyone should read, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

Book 3
Give Me Desire, in this book we get to see Vivienne finally get to terms with her life. And she comes to the fact that Mikah really want to help her, without wanting anything in return, but she is still having a little bit of a problem accepting his help. I love it how we to find out that Mikah and Vivienne are sharing the same dreams, I love their sexual chemistry that they have between them, and love it when their wings are fully display and they are not in the dream, what I did not like the ending of this one cause it leave you hanging and with a sexual one too.
Book 4
Give Me Love, This the final installment in the series, we finally get to know about Mikah and Vivienne origins, and the reasons behind the danger Vivienne has been experiencing, now trained they successfully faced offed with Riley, to make sure the world stays in balance, and while doing this they are also having a lot of sex, we finally get the answers to a lot of the question, and we finally get to find out why Vivienne mother treat her the way she did. This was a really good ending to this series.
I really enjoy and love reading these series, the way I see it this is such a beautiful series, but what cant I say I love anything that has to do with angels, Author Zoey Derrick THANK YOU for this WONDERFUL, AMAZING CHARACTERS AND THIS AWESOME SERIES LOVE IT.
Give Me Reason In Give Me Reason, we are introduced to Vivienne and Mikah. Vivienne is rather down on her luck but surviving. She's recently escaped from an abusive relationship so when she meets Mikah, she's very leery. There is a pull between these two that is undeniable. But Vivienne does her level best to do just that. She doesn't want to accept Mikah's help and she pushes him away. She's doing the best she can at fending for herself until a threat is posed.
I'm enjoying the gritty world Ms. Derrick has drawn for Vivienne to inhabit. And I admire Vivienne's pluck and desire to make due on her own. I also really like Mikah and look forward to getting better acquainted. The side characters are also fairly well fleshed out and I'm anxious to see their continuing roles in Vivienne's life. The mysterious paranormal element to the story also has me more and more curious.
Give Me Hope While Give Me Reason was told in first person from Vivienne's POV, Give Me Hope is from Mikah's. I loved getting inside his head. Especially since more on the paranormal element - and his lack of knowledge of it - is revealed. The threat to Vivienne escalates and that intensified things. I think Vivienne is coming to realize that the pull between her and Mikah is something special. And it is indeed special. What was revealed about Mikah and Vivienne was exciting. I like how Ms. Derrick has blended mythologies together and I'm even more eager to see where all this is leading.
Give Me Desire Whoa! This part of the story started with a plot twist that had me gasping. Although this part of the plot isn't expanded on much, Give Me Desire was still thrilling. We learn more about the paranormal element and what it means for Vivienne and Mikah. And we watch as they get closer and their pull on one another gets stronger. Vivienne also learns more about herself and it was a pleasure to see her blossom into a more and more confident young woman.
Give Me Love This final installment reveals all the details of Vivienne's and Mikah's origins and the reasons behind the danger Vivienne has been experiencing. Give Me Love switched from first person to third person narration and while I understood the necessity behind it - much more dialog from multiple characters - I missed the intimacy with Vivienne and Mikah that first person provided. I really enjoyed the development of Vivienne and Mikah's relationship as well as the closeness among them and their four guardians. I did feel that the way in which the dangers posed to Vivienne culminated was a little anticlimactic.
I so enjoyed my introduction to Ms. Derrick's writing and this series was a joy. The way in which Ms. Derrick presented her mythology and the world building was fresh and exciting. The story was well-written with a nice pace. I was sucked in and loved it! I would love to read more from this world and these characters.
The Reason Series is a compilation of the four books in the series. Each book makes up a "chapter" in this collection. It starts as we're introduced to Vivienne. A girl who is trying to put her life back together after being severely abused by her boyfriend. Her life isn't easy and she's barely scrapping by, but she's determine to put herself back together for the sake of her unborn child. It's while working that she meets Micah Blake. A wealthy businessman, who's appearance intrigues her, Vivienne begins to question just what he wants from her and if she is simply a pity mission for him. But there's no denying her feelings for him or his need to take care of her when their worlds are thrown upside down by revelations about Angels, Elysium guardians and pacts with the Devil himself.
I really enjoyed the part of the book that was GIVE ME REASON and GIVE ME HOPE. Both of those parts focused on the relationship between Vivienne, Micah and the relationship they were starting to build. Despite the drama and the things that happened to Vivienne, both Micah and Viv were forced to take a look at their feelings and decide what to do moving forward. But as we moved from that we got into the aspect of the story, with both of them discovering their angels and their worlds turned upside down, that I lost momentum with the story. I still liked Micah and Vivienne, I was just ready for them to have their HEA without anymore drama. Even without the whole angel piece, they'd already had enough drama with the domestic violence. I wanted them to get to a place where their relationship was stable, Vivienne figured out what she wanted to do with her life and they lived HEA. They got there...eventually, but not as soon as I liked.
I will be the first to admit, I don't generally read books that involved angels, etc. I'm not sure what it is, they just don't appeal to me. But I thought I would give this one a try. But the whole becoming an angel if one of your parents is part angel and/or demon and being a fallen angel even if you have done anything bad was lost to me. I'm sure others will enjoy this book (and they have by the reviews I've seen), but for me I would have been happy with just Vivienne and Micah's story.
I was disturbed at the gritty nature of this story but it was an emotional ride that I won't soon forget. I fell in love with Viv, I was proud of her strength she displayed so many times throughout this read. This series is swoon worthy paranormal meets crime drama meets thriller. I love the angelic quality to this book. I love angel stories and this one was quite unique. The characters were really great and I loved each personality that they possessed. I can't imagine going through half of the stuff our brave MC went through or what Mikah went through either. I am team Mikah all the way! LOL! I think that if you like Paranormal Romance you should have no problem with this series.
I enjoyed the action and drama that these books brought and I was intrigued and left guessing the entire way! I went through a gauntlet of emotion in stages of this book and found myself needing a break. Some parts were so terribly hard. The whole descriptive nature had me right there with Vivienne. And with Mikah as well. I think this series was paced well having read it altogether. As seperate books I'd have been dying for the next release!!!
I like the POVs that we get to experience and the different insights it brought to things. The series has depth and I was engulfed in it most of the way through. I think subject matter was a big thing for me, sometimes authors get brave and tackle these sorts of things. Great job to Zoey Derrick on a great series full of great characters!! If there are any futher addition to this series I will so be reading it!
This collection was given to me for an honest review. Mikah has known severe loss in his life. Vivienne has known pain and suffering. Mikah has money loads of it; Vivienne is fighting to pay rent. What can these two have in common? One night after a business event Mikah is drawn to a dumpy diner, he isn't sure why he feels the need to go. Inside, waitressing, is Vivienne working herself to the bone just trying to survive. Mikah and Vivienne are full of secrets some of which they don’t even know about themselves yet. But, he is determined to help her. He doesn't know why, he doesn't understand the pull, but he has the need to protect and help her. Vivienne has been on her own too long, she doesn't depend on others to survive she doesn't want Mikah’s help or interference in her life. How will these two overcome their differences? What about the secrets that they learn about one another and about themselves…how will those affect them? This novel is a wonderful read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it kept me guessing what could come next. It also makes you question heaven, hell and everything you once thought about angels.
This series was well written and very easy to follow considering it is what I consider "Paranormal" and regardless of what genre you typically read, I highly recommend that you pick this one up.
You instantly feel for Vivienne when she is introduced. Battered, pregnant, and eating hot dogs. She's busting her hump to make a less than meager living. Her mother was not a stellar mother and never took care of her as a mother should.
Mikah the rich, mogul angel who is drawn by an inner force to Vivienne. He doesn't understand what draws him to this beautiful red head who waits tables.
Vivienne is so independent and wants no help from anyone. Mikah is there trying in any way to be a part of Vivienne's life.
There are twists and turns, Love, and loss. I was completely captured by this story and wanted more and more of Mikah and Vivienne. I was happy that Vivienne didn't just roll over and play into all of what Mikah was offering. She had strong convictions and beliefs of how she should live her life without the help of a man or family.
This series was well worth the read. It was beautifully written and well thought out as a whole. The struggle Vivienne endures is, unfortunately, one many women around the world are all too familiar with. Beneath the wonder that is Paranormal Romance, is a story of a woman coming into her own strength and finding the one man who would come to compliment that strength and provide a healing balm to old hurts. You hit rock bottom with Vivienne and then begin the epic crawl out of the gutter and into the sunlight. In a word…beautiful. As much as I enjoyed these stories by themselves, I would recommend reading the entire series. The stories are not written in a way that allows them to be stand alone titles. Doing so will only leave you with more questions than answers. That being said, The Reason series is heart wrenching and sometimes tear jerking but a series I would recommend to anyone!
As a whole this series was pretty good. There are a lot of different angel stories out there but this one was different and enjoyable. It was emotional and funny, loving and heartbreaking. All in the same four books. The story had a nice flow to it even broken up. I 'm not sure they needed to be broken up but that's not for me to decide. They were worth it!
I enjoyed this book a whole lot. It's the first thing I have read from this author and I think that I will continue to read more. If I get attached I read all of their books ... I think Zoey Derrick just made the list. This is a new author I definitely need to watch out for.
I loved this book collection. Each book brought on a differen't situations that some were predictable and some suspenseful and some full of surprises. The one thing that was common was how much I loved and enjoyed reading these books. One of the benefits to this book was that the books seemed to have a cliffhanger and you can read straight after what was going to happen. Another good thing is that if your a busy person like I am you can read one book at a time and each of them consists of about 150 or so pages so you can read them take a little break and get to the next. I loved the characters and that there was more then one point of view to a couple different people depending on the book. I loved the connection between the Vivienne and Mikah. Overall I really enjoyed this book 4 of 5 stars!

When I started this series I thought wth have I done? I don't do paranormal and this is going to be a long read for me. I was wrong, so wrong.! This series grabbed me right from the beginning, it had me asking questions I really wanted to know the answers to and it pulled me right in. It is romantic and mysterious and so magical and beautiful.
After being in an abusive relationship and a harsh childhood, Vivienne needs a fresh start. However life gives her another obstacle to over come. Vivienne is trying to survive day to day with her unborn child, when Mikah comes to her life. The attraction between Vivienne and Mikah is strong, but she is determine to fend for herself and tries to push him away. Mikah is an interesting character and i got to learn more about him in Give me Hope. I am not a big fan of paranormal books, however The Reason was an easy to follow book and i was able to keep engaged.
Wow what can I say about this series other then I love it. I have read other angels and demon type romances and I have to say this is by far my favorite one. there isnt one thing I didn't like about it other then I wish there was a book 5 lol.
Give Me Reason by Zoey Derrick is a quick, enthralling read. It deals uniquely with so many difficult subjects, child abuse, addiction, domestic violence, and poverty, yet left me with hope for the future. The cliff hanger ending makes me want to jump right in to the next book. Give Me Hope by Zoey Derrick is absolutely overflowing with hope. Hope for everyone. Unfortunately, this hope comes at a terrifying price. I have been so tearful thru all of this one. The characters are so strong and the story line so realistic, I just cannot help but be pulled in. So many questions yet to answer. Give Me Desire by Zoey Derrick is a terrific addition to the Reason series. This entire series has pulled me so far in. I love these characters and am constantly amazed at the story line. Derrick has woven a spell. And the cliff hanger in this one is such a happy one. Moving right along into finishing this series. Highly recommend this. Give Me Love by Zoey Derrick is the perfect way to end this series. All the buildup and back ground information from the first three books, culminated is a thrilling, emotional, yet HEA ending. I just love these characters and will miss them in future stories. Derrick has done a fantastic job of keeping my attention straight through all four books. Well done.
A sexy, intriguing paranormal series. I was hooked from the first page all the way to the end!! If you looking for a sweet and sexy paranormal series that will keep interested from start to finish I definitely recommend this series!!
