Life as a single parent is hard, and Maeve knows this better than most.
With two beautiful daughters, one vindictive ex-husband and no money, she's desperate to keep her head above water. Then, when the family court judge orders her to make some changes, she isn't sure where to turn--especially when the tenuous threads of her self-control threaten to unravel.

The courts need to believe the relationship is real.
But what is her heart forgets that its not?

Fourth Wall is a standalone in an interconnected series
Single mom body guard romance Christian has a dirty mouth but Maude dished it right back love that for her! This was worth the wait I’m a Stan for anything vee Taylor writes. This is another 5 ⭐️banger! Loved this so much!!
I would absolutely give this a 10/5 if I could! I am so sad to see this world end, but so satisfied in the way it did.
The mouth on this man had me literally melting -and when she got brazen and joined in 🫠 holy panty dropping delight! The banter that these two have, and I was so happy to see so much of that carry through! The number of times I wanted to smack both of them upside the head and tell them to get it together 😂 If you’re looking for found family, blended family, over coming addiction, finding your own power, supportive friends to be jealous of, fake dating, semi forced proximity, and a seriously dirty mouthed MC just dive right it! 5/5 ⭐️ stars 2.5/5 🌶️ scenes 4/5 🥵 talk 5/5 📖 storyline
The amount of tears Vee has made me cry. Omg. I’m so sending her my therapy bill after this series 😂 (kidding, kind of lol) This one is my favorite of the whole series. I completely fell head over heels for Christian, and his little Firecracker. I can not handle it. She is a bad ass, strong and amazing and vocal and comes into her own by the end of the book in such a beautiful way. And he… well. He is perfect obviously. But he is also caring, empathetic, protective, honorable, and every other thing you want in a man. He is the perfect man. Plain and simple lol. “You are the sun to my cloudy day, firecracker. The light to my darkness. The rain to my clouds. I would do anything for you.” Like what!?!?! Ahhhhh I love this book, I love this series. It’s crazy hot 🥵 the 🔪 play was 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and the spicy scenes were spicy!!! Read this series, and this book. She rips your heart out and then puts it back together with small pieces of the characters in this amazing series.
This was my first book by this author and I found it a cute and sweet read. The whole mafia/bodyguard aspect wasn’t a bit part as much as Meave and Christian overcoming their own personal demons and struggles to figure themselves out.
A bit slow paced for me I found the dirty talk a little juvenile and cringy at times but otherwise I found it was a good read that had my smiling the whole way through
Fourth Wall is the last book in the Marchetti Men series (which you can read as a stand alone!!) and although I have not read the other books in the series I loved Vee Taylor’s most recent book, “Into the Darkness” so I knew I had to check this one out!!
This book had me at bodyguard, fake dating, and friends to lovers. I admit I was expecting more of the mafia elements in this story, but the plot focused more on Maeve being a struggling single mother who meets an ex military and closed off bodyguard. I don’t think this book connected with me personally due to it being a “single mom” story but overall I really enjoyed the book. The other issue I had was the dialogue between Maeve and the other characters, it didn’t seem to add any depth or complexity to the plot in my opinion. But other than that it was an easy read for me! Maeve and Christian’s relationship started off complicated but they both worked through their traumas and came together for the better. They had many wholesome moments and I really liked the bond they shared. So I would recommend this book to people who like friends to lovers, with spice, and a relationship that grows through trauma.
⚠️Call me weird⚠️ but I can’t read books that are almost incoherent so this book is a DNF at the 9% mark. Setting aside the fact that he’s a murderer, setting aside the heaps of tell-don’t-show that has been provided up to this point: the writing is not good.
—My wave turned into the middle finger, where I screamed, “Never!” —“Christian and Maeve sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N—” I playfully patted her, and we both ended up in a fit of giggles. —‘I walked over to her, knowing I would scare the shit out of her because she had no clue anyone was in her house. I walked around the house slowly with my gun raised, hoping to god no one else was in this house with her. This was a huge safety risk, but there was no point in arguing with her.’
“Fourth Wall” is the fourth and final book in the Marchetti Men series by Vee Taylor. While it can be read as a standalone, reading the previous books first will help you get to know the characters better.
Read if you like: 🖤 Single mom ❤️ Friends to lovers 🖤 Fake dating ❤️ Former military 🖤 Knife play ❤️ Mental health representation
4.5 ⭐️ | 3 🌶️
TW’s: Mafia activity, single mom/parenting, toxic ex-partner, PTSD, military trauma, anxiety, and other mental health issues, alcoholism and sober journey, knife-play, dirty talk, degradation, bully, gun violence.
“She was somehow the anchor that held me together but, at the same time, was the one ripping me apart until I was raw and exhausted.”
Review: Fourth Wall is my favorite book in the series. I devoured it in a day. Maeve and Christian’s story felt authentic, full of challenges and healing through trauma.
Maeve’s ex took her to court because her life seemed chaotic. In a panic, she lied, claiming she had a boyfriend and was planning to move in with him soon. The problem was, she didn’t have a boyfriend. That’s when Christian, the ex-military bodyguard for Julian Marchetti, offers his help.
Though they are part of the same friend group and always shared playful banter, living together turns their arrangement into a passionate, confusing entanglement. The tension and chemistry between them are palpable from the start. What began as friendly banter evolves into flirting and growing feelings.
“There was never anything fake about us, firecracker.”
Christian struggled with PTSD after his military career, which led to alcoholism and ended his marriage. Julian offered him a job as a bodyguard and supported him through everything, becoming like a brother. Christian replaced his alcohol addiction with sex, but he needed to confront his past to be a better person for Maeve and her daughters.
Maeve is a strong, resilient mom who does everything she can to provide for her daughters after her divorce. She’s a good mother, and her ex’s actions were unfair, especially since he cheated. With Christian, she feels safe, and their journey, though difficult, is filled with important lessons.
“The journey that brought us here wasn't always easy, but the lessons I learned along the way truly mattered.”
Christian is usually quiet and observant, rarely starting conversations, but he feels he can be vulnerable with Maeve. He learns that there is strength in vulnerability and letting people in. Christian rarely smiles or laughs, but those moments become more common around Maeve. He calls her “firecracker,” a sweet symbol of luck and prosperity from his military days.
Once Christian opens up to Maeve, their relationship evolves beyond a fake arrangement. Their mutual support shines through. Christian is wonderful with Maeve and her kids, doing everything to protect them. Despite his difficult childhood, he finds a family he never expected. He often gives Maeve’s kids poppies, a reminder that he can always overcome hard times.
Their relationship isn’t easy at first; both have emotional baggage, but together they confront their issues and start to heal. Christian has a sponsor and sees a therapist, becoming more open about his feelings and choosing to be vulnerable.
“You are my home. You are the sun to my cloudy day, firecracker. The light to my darkness. The rain to my clouds. I would do anything for you.”
Maeve and Christian’s relationship is fantastic. They start with playful banter, and their romance is sweet. The spice? Christian’s dirty talk is top-notch. Knife play? Pretty hot. Maeve feels confident with Christian and isn’t shy about asking for what she wants. They are a perfect match, both in and out of the bedroom.
“You are so fucking exquisite on your knees, willing to submit to me. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.”
I loved seeing characters from the previous books and catching up on their lives. This book is a fantastic conclusion to a great series. It shows that no matter how difficult the journey or experiences, what truly matters is how we grow from them and the lessons we carry. I adore this story and highly recommend reading the Marchetti Men series.
Thank you to Vee Taylor and the Author Agency for the PR and advance copy. This review was left voluntarily.
Maeve is the divorced mother to two little girls. Her ex-husband ended up cheating on her with a man and has since made her life a nightmare. He is constantly taking jabs at who she is and questioning how good a mother she can possibly be.
When she is dragged into court by her ex she just knows he is gunning to take the kids away from her. She does everything she can for her girls even though she has very little education thanks in part to the ex. She is living at her parents home, working in a diner, and notorious for being late to everything. As everything is aired in court she must figure out how to make her life appear more stable in the next six months so she doesn't lose her girls. In a moment of madness she announces she is moving in with her boyfriend....one problem she doesn't have a boyfriend.
Christian finds himself hiding in the shadows among his friends as usual as Maeve tells them about her blunder in court. They attempt to come up with a solution to the mysterious boyfriend problem when Christian speaks up saying he will do it. No one even realized he was in the room but it ends up being the best option.
How will Maeve & Christian work when they both have so much on the line. Can Christian deal with all of the new routines, people, and feelings that are going to be coming up? Will he be able to open up about his struggles since returning from his time in the military?
This is a story with so much tragedy but also so much love and hope. It is a beautiful thing to see people coming in to who they were always meant to be. To see them open up and thrive and this is exactly what you will get in this story.
I have not yet read the other stories in this series but I will absolutely be doing that at some point because I love these characters.
Honestly, the amount of times Vee Taylor makes me cry is staggering.....but I'll keep coming back for more. If I could give this all the stars I would.
Fourth Wall in the final book in The Marchetti Men Series, which if you haven't read it you're missing out.
Let me tell you......the mouth on this man is absolutely filthy and I LOVED every minute of it! Christian and Maeve have such a fast moving but beautiful story.
Maeve is a single mom just holding it together and trying to make life better for her and her two girls. Her ex decides that her life is "too chaotic" and attempts to file for full custody of their two girls. Maeve decides to blurt out in court that she has a boyfriend and they're moving in together. While reeling from that lie after court with her friends, Christian, the bodyguard of her friends hudband and "viking" as Maeve calls him offers to pretend to be the boyfriend in an effort to help Maeve.
Christian is former Marines who suffers from PTSD which led him down a spiral of alcoholism until Julian found him and offered him a job that changed his life. Maeve is a badass single mom who although she doesn't have it all together, she has it all between her family and her found family of friends from work and their significant others.
The push and pull of Christian and Maeve because of his fears of being unworthy, not deserving of love and just all around damaged childhood. Christian ultimately decides after meeting up with his sponsor (theres a big twist you wont expect here) he decides he needs to be open and vulnerable with Maeve and from there the two of them begin an ACTUAL relationship, although I can tell you, it was never really fake for either of them.
The banter between Christian and Maeve even before he offers to be her fake boyfriend is great! I love that this ends with a catch up on everyone in the series and their lives going forward.
Thank you Vee Taylor and The Author Agency for the opportunity to advance read this book!
He calls her Firecracker, she calls him Big Boy but her sweet little daughters? They call him Poppy Chrisitan. 🥹
Fourth Wall is the final installment of the Marchetti Men series by @veetaylorauthor , the end of an Era, the end of her debut series but personally THE most anticipated book in the series for me. I remember when Vee was teasing the release of One Chance in July of 2023 and she posted an IG carousel she called ‘texts from the Marchetti men’. I INSTANTLY commented asking if Christian’s text thread was between him and Maeve because I was getting all of the vibes. ✨ And let me just tell you; this book did not disappoint. The spice was spicing and all forms of love were palpable. 😮💨🥵
After getting divorced and being taken through court Maeve is really struggling to love herself but she know she has to do what’s best for the girls. With threats of losing custody hanging over her head she decides a fake relationship is what’s best to prove to her ex Tyler and the courts that she’s not only stable but committed and in waltzes Christian West; a friend of a friend who she’s bantered with before and can barely stand. But as readers, if we know anything about fake relationships paired with close proximity and ‘I can’t stand you vibes’ then we know we’re in for a whirlwind of emotions. From ups to down, with feisty banter and sexual angst you could cut with a knife – pun intended 😏 – this book was everything I hoped it would be and more. If you like a dirty mouthed MMC then you’ll love our FMC just like Christian did, because who doesn’t love a woman who can match your dirty talk? Fourth Wall was PERFECTION 🤩 and you can read it now on KU or order your own copy to keep on your bookshelf here 👉🏼 https://a.co/d/4BoAogy
** Although this is the fourth book in the Marchetti Men series, they can be read pretty independently. Just know the other characters endings roll over into each book.
The final instalment to the Marchetti Men series is here! I’ve really enjoyed this series and loved seeing all of the Marchetti family characters again, they have such a beautiful supportive dynamic with those found family feels as they all came together again to help our single mama Maeve.
Christian + Maeve have always been somewhat frenemies and when Maeve is taken for full custody of her children by her ex, Christian is the one who steps up to help her. They enter a fake dating arrangement but sparks start flying between them that feel very real.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: single mum, friends to lovers, body guard, fake dating, light mafia, age gap (26/36), formal military mmc, surprise pregnancy.
I really loved Maeve, she was strong, loyal and didn’t back down when things got hard. She’s going through a lot during this, but I loved how headstrong she was and the way she didn’t make it easy for Christian.
I did struggle with some aspects of this story, there were inconsistencies I noticed and some cringey dialogue that made it hard for me to get through at times. Christian was very flawed and while I understood his struggles, there were some events that I struggled with that unfortunately affected my enjoyment of the story overall and prevented me from getting invested in their romance. I did love that he sought help to be better for Maeve and her girls, stepping up to be the person they needed.
Thank you to the Author Agency and Vee Taylor for providing me with an arc.
This is the fourth and final book in the Marchetti Men series and I have been grateful enough to arc read 3/4 of them. I can’t believe this series is over but this was pretty much the perfect ending to the series. While these can be standalones but I truly recommend reading them in order to fully get the most out of this book as it truly wraps up everyone’s happily ever after in the best way. This one is a single mom romance as well as fake dating and bodyguard romance.
Maeve is trying to survive being a single parent after her husband left her pretty much out of nowhere. She was a stay at home mom and overnight had to learn how to provide for her family and now her ex husband is trying to take away her daughters. When the family court judge orders her to make some changes, she isn’t sure where to turn. Christian is the last person she expects to offer to help her. He’s an ex-military bodyguard and they can’t help but bicker. But he makes her an offer she can’t refuse, he will help her by fake dating her and offering her a place to live until the judge and her ex back off. They never expect to end up tangled in feelings and with risks to their happy ending when they finally accept how they feel.
I have been so excited for Maeve’s book since the first one in the series. I knew her story was gonna be a painful one but Vee told it so well. Maeve and Christian have been hurt by those they loved in the past and neither one is looking to find love any time soon but they find it with the other. Christian is still getting over his trauma and we see that throughout this book. I really liked how it was handled and that it wasn’t excused but accepted. Their relationship is rocky for a while but they both care so much and we get to see their relationship grow throughout the book.
I really recommend this series and I can’t wait to continue to see what Vee Taylor writes next. I recommend reading this in order personally as you get the most pay off and get to see how they all interconnect.
It took me a couple of days to finish this book, not because I was not liking it, but quite the opposite actually. I fell in love with Maeve and Christian since I read “One Chance”, and I was eagerly and not so patiently waiting for their happily ever after. When I finally got this ARC, I was so excited, yet I couldn’t get myself to read it because, as excited as I was, sadness consumed me knowing it was the last book in this series that I loved, and which made me create a bond with the amazing author behind these captivating stories… Vee.
So, once I told myself to finish it, I was bawling my eyes out and fell in love once again with these two complex characters. Their journey to happily ever after was not linear, and they had to struggle to get there. But like the saying goes, "Nothing worthy comes easy," and boy, was it true for Maeve and Christian.
If you want to read a flowery romance book, “Fourth Wall” is not for you. However, if you want to read about how two characters love each other profusely yet can’t do so freely until they love themselves first, and struggle with their past and the mistakes they’ve made, then this book is for you.
“Fourth Wall”, the final book in the Marchetti Men series, includes some of the fan-favorite tropes such as single mom, fake dating, possessive hero, bodyguard, and friends to lovers.
This book was a spicy read! This is a fake dating romance (and we all know how those end). Christian and Maeve think they can just keep it friendly, but the tension between these two is to inferno levels.
Christine is a bodyguard for a mafia family. He has no real family of his own and he is okay with that. He makes great money, has his job, and lives out his vices in different women every night. Until little Maeve and her two daughters need a stable home to live in for 6 months.
Maeve is a single mom whose ex is truly a POS. Thinks he knows best even though he left her and their two daughters for his side piece. Maeve is just a single mom trying her best to give her daughters everything she can, but when all you were was a stay at home mom/trophy wife it’s hard to land on your feet when your man leaves you. But she is one bad ass mom and isn’t afraid to step up. She may see a bit of a mess and running late but she spends all those moments with her girls! And ain’t no one can tell her she is a bad mom.
Christian and Maeve are all 🔥 and their relationship was meant to catch. Fall into these twos chaos and soak up all their dirty talk! You won’t regret is 😏
*𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘵 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘱* because Vee has left me sobbing in my bed at almost 11 pm. I've adored Maeve from the very start, and I've been waiting until we could delve deeper into her character. Throughout the first three books, Maeve radiates strength, confidence, a sprinkle of chaos, and badassery as a single mom, but in Fourth Wall, we get to unpack her inner demons and the invisible scars left by a toxic relationship/marriage. This book doesn't just reveal Maeve's struggles; it introduces us to Christian in a more intimate way beyond his role as Julian’s bodyguard. We get to hear what happened before he left the marines and how much the Marchetti family really saved him. The tension, chemistry and growth between Christian and Maeve are *𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘧𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘴𝘴*. Not to mention Maeve’s girls will absolutely melt your heart!
This entire series is phenomenal, making it impossible to choose a favorite. However, Christian and Maeve have undoubtedly claimed a top spot alongside Daddy Elio and Gianna! 🫣
“Fourth Wall “is a fake dating, friends to lovers, former military, divorced mom, found family, romance with a HEA It centers around Maeve MFC and Christian MMC who end up fake dating to prove to her ex husband that she a fit Mother for their two children. They end up falling for each other and the rest is pretty predictable. I did really feel for Christian’s character because of his turbulent past when he was enlisted in the military. I know so many VETERANS who have to deal with the repercussions of war and it’s truly heartbreaking. The intimacy and spice was ok… just felt like the spice dialogue was a little odd. It really didn’t appeal to me.
Overall it was a good ending to the “Marchetti Men” series and I did enjoy this book. ❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Frenemies to Lovers … he’s the calm to her chaos & vice versa. Christian was swoon worthy … I mean calling her firecracker because it means good luck charm 🫠 I love a hard exterior softie! Maeve was a beautiful chaotic mess & I found her completely relatable! Single mom just doing her best for her kids! Christian def fell first, but Maeve wasn’t too far behind! This can be read as a standalone, but it’s part of an interconnected series. I’m going back to read the rest of the book series. 🎉
Maeve has been put through the wringer after battling in court with her now ex-husband, Tyler, but Maeve is always going to do what’s best for her girls . Except now with her ex threatening custody, Maeve knows she needs to find a solution fast before things escalate . Christian is a very complicated man with A LOT of things he is working on/through, but he is perfect for the job of fake boyfriend/fake dad . Now the two of them must not only appear real and united to get her ex to back off, but the two of them must decide how much of this is actually real .
This is the fourth and final book in The Marchetti Men series and it can be read as a complete stand alone BUT I do recommend reading the series in order to understand the full dynamic .
This book was given to me for honest review by the author and The Author Agency .
THE FOURTH WALL ♥️ Beautiful, just simply beautiful! This story from the start will get you hooked, in no time you will be devouring FOURTH WALL and craving more ! A beautiful romance with an emotional connection and a heartfelt story that will inspire you to step out of the shadows, to look around and find your own love and happiness!
Fourth Wall: A Bodyguard x Single Mom Romance (The Marchetti Men) Part of: The Marchetti Men (4 books
Ok let’s get into this very surprising story.
Maeve ♥️ The divorced single parent to two beautiful girls, she was struggling as it is when her overbearing ex husband took her to court for full custody of the girls who’s her entire world, So when the judge orders her to make changes in her life or lose custody, well Maeve came up with a plan, Which it’s one that found her accepting help from the unlikeliest person of all, Christian West The Bodyguard!
Christian♥️ Is the Bodyguard ex Military with a shadowed past that still plagued him daily. He Was used to being the guy looking in, always in the shadows never feeling as if he belonged, But Was shocked that he offered to help fake being Maeve boyfriend so that she could keep custody of her beautiful daughters.
Pretty soon they were drawn to each other despite their own problems and fears .. Maeve desperately trying not to be the person her ex seemingly dislikes and disapproves of, While navigating the nuances of fake dating this gorgeous tattooed Viking looking god who drives her crazy with wants and desires. Christian, who’s battling the scars from his past while trying to be what Maeve and her daughters needed , someone in the present and not the past.. if only he could stop his desires and fix his problems before things get messy and complicated. 💫
“Our bond taught me the power of communication, understanding, and empathy. It was about being vulnerable and open, sharing our fears and dreams, and supporting each other through thick and thin”.
“I would walk where the stars meet the ocean and back if that meant I could have just one more minute with you on this earth.”
I don’t just love you. I belong with you.” 💫 Maeve and Christian journey together is one I will always remember, the way how they communicated the way how this man praised supported and loved on her and the girls while fixing himself to be better for them is … sigh… it’s everything!
Although this book was Part of: The Marchetti Men books series , I read this as a standalone and totally enjoyed the heck out of it ! But now I’m completely hooked and will be doing the Series just because I fell in love with the Characters mentioned in Fourth Wall Story !

Overall Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ Spice Rating: 3/5 🌶️
Right away, and with only knowing the two big tropes are single mom & bodyguard, i knew I was going to ADORE this book & absolutely eat it up so fast. From start to finish, I was hooked on this book, and hooked on the chemistry between Christian & Maeve.
This is my first Vee Taylor book after stumbling upon their instagram, although i’ve heard their name in passing before, but I’m absolutely blown away with his book & am so so glad I picked this book up. To say I couldn’t put this book down was an understatement — Taylor’s writing is so well done, so easy to read and so easy and fluent to imagine in my head. The way they write is just so overall immersive and made me feel like I was there, living through Christian and Maeve while they navigate their lives around one another.
I feel like i’m usually so stingy about my made men / mafia books but this one was an easy heck yes, i’m all in and i adore it completely. There wasn’t solely a huge main focus on mafia elements, but more of like domestic elements, like Maeve and her kids, which I really liked the blended and balanced mix of both the mafia action & the relationship elements too. A good mix makes it just work so well.
Christian & Maeve are so funny together - I loved their banter & tension and how they both push each other’s buttons literally 24/7. They’re total opposites in most ways, but they have so much in common with each other too and I was happy to see those vulnerable & tender moments of them together as they slowly opened up and got more comfortable with one another.
Even though Christian said over and over again how much he disliked Maeve, he was so gentle, understanding and caring for her and I loved every second of it. And with Maeve, I loved how independent and unapologetic Maeve is in herself - it’s what everyone women should feel and I loved getting to see such a strong character like her. I’ll be thinking about these two for such a long time!
I ended up reading this book (as the fourth book in the series) before the others in the series, and had no problems understanding and going forward within the story (although I can definitely tell other character stories had likely progressed from their own stories into this one), but I’ll definitely be going back & reading the others to get more of the other characters stories. I loved the girl group vibe that Maeve had with the other women, i’m such a sucker for those types of small complements in books and it just makes me so happy to see.
❤️ opposites attract ❤️ single mom ❤️ made men / mafia ❤️ ex-military bodyguard ❤️ mental health rep ❤️ friends to lovers ❤️ trauma growth ❤️ knife play ❤️ fake dating
I recieved in ARC copy of Fourth Wall and all thoughts & comments on this review are my own!
I absolutely loved this series! This series was everything!! I think Maeve and Christian’s story is my favorite though! This book gave me all the emotions, I cried, laughed, go angry and made me so happy! I feel like this book was the perfect ending to this series.
