The cover

For real the cover was the initial draw, and then I saw the author and prepared for a good read. And yes, this was a quick read and it's a good love story. That's all you need...

New To Me Author ❤️

I was gonna cuss Angel out, but you know what all I gonna say is gurlllllll THANK YOU!!! for being nothing but an idiot for giving up a man like Quincy 👍🏽 because he was able to heal from the hurt and the pain you cause him so that he can be ready to love the right woman and that was Whitney and her daughter Rayleigh.

✨️Justin, there is a saying, "Wen trouble tek yuh pickney shut fit yuh" because ain't no way an educate man like you be out here acting 😒 so stupid and look where it got you.But you learn a valuable lesson and make the changes you need in order to be there for your daughter.

✨️Angel god gave you a second chance, and you turned yourself around and am gonna extend you dome grace just the same as Whitney and as she said if we can help our own black women when they are in a time of need who is gonna help us despite how rude you were to her initially.

✨️ Talia and Rayleigh instant connection was beautiful. These two little girls created a bond between them that will never be broken 🎶"twin were, have you been?" 🎶

✨️Give me a praying man like Quincy, a family man, a lover, a father, a man who protects his family and my heart. Quincy was everything Whitney and her daughter needed and more, and she was the same for him and his daughter ❤️

This was a really cute, easygoing love story. De’Quincy knew pretty early on that Whitney was the one for him, and I enjoyed watching them settle into a soft, natural romance and blended family dynamic.

I also appreciated the acknowledgment of the challenges Black women face within healthcare. However, I do wish the story had gone a bit deeper with that aspect. Since Whitney is an NP, I kept expecting to see her engage in some form of advocacy or at least have a more direct confrontation with the doctor involved. It felt like a missed opportunity to flesh out that storyline more meaningfully.

I also wanted more context surrounding Whitney’s past issues with her parents. We’re told there were challenges and that they feel remorseful about certain things, but it never really gets explored in depth, so that plot felt somewhat underdeveloped.

There were also quite a few editing issues throughout the book, along with some awkward scene and timeline transitions that made the flow feel choppy at times. One moment the family would be at dinner, and then suddenly the next sentence would jump ahead three weeks.

Even with those issues, this was still an enjoyable read overall. The romance was sweet, the family dynamics were engaging, and it was enough to make me interested in reading more from this author. I’m definitely curious about Carter and Wendy’s story next.

I'm Sooooo Happy!

This story was everything DeQuincy deserved! Having a story unfold with memories from previous relationships that revealed growth from everyone, healing, maturity, forgiveness, but most importantly grace, was the best parts. Talia came back to us with reinforcement, adding Ryleigh to the pack! Jos gave us a peek at who DeQuincy was in her previous release. But babbbyyy da man, we got here, whewwww... 🥵🥵 Chileeeee, where do they make em like dis? I'm looking forward to seeing Carter get his HEA! 💐🎉🥳 Great read & highly recommended! 💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

2.5

This was more like 2.5. It started off great and up to about 43% I was into it. But it’s super boring the little bit of conflict was really nothing, and the relationship just took off out of nowhere. The transition in the time jumping was bad, but it was ok after you get over the confusion and realized that time did jump. I love the maturity of the story but at the same time it was so boring. Maybe if we got to journey into the relationship and build as the characters were building their relationship it would have been better. The chemistry wasn’t there for me after the initial meet. It was like yea we gone move slow, and then the next paragraph they were having sex, and in the next chapter they were meeting ex’s to let them know they were getting married soon. Umm wha? So yea with so little details and not really being apart of the growing relationship this was very boring and long for no real reason. I’m not one for super detailed either but a good balance would be nice. Other than them going to work, picking up kids, and having family dinners, nothing was happening. The dates the author spoke of we didn’t read about she just told us they went on dates. There was really no conflict, and it was bit repetitive. 🤷🏿‍♀️ idk maybe it was just me.

needed to be edited

The story was okay. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two. I did like the discussion about how black women are treated medically and blended families. I felt like we needed a little bit more clarification on Whitney’s issues with her parents.

The timeline was all over the place. It went from their first family date to multiple family dates, all in a matter of a paragraph. The story skipped time all over the place. A lot of misspelled/misused words and grammatical errors.

Star level: 3 stars Spice level: 🌶️🌶️
Trope: black love, love at first sight, single parents, marriage
Trigger warnings: jail
Fav quotes: “ I mean I like a little thug in my man, but not the kind I’d have to bail out of jail or worry if he’s going to make it home at night.”
“when your heart is seeking its soulmate, it will lead you to that person when the time is right. Destiny, fate, God’s plan all works together to bring something beautiful together.”
About the book: This book is very slow but also fast pace at the same time. This story had a lot of time jumps but none that confused you. De’Quincy has been watching Whitney for months and finally made the move on her and claim her as his future. But De’Quincy knows what he wants after thinking he found the love of his life but she left him heart broken and a single father. So this time around he wasn’t wasting his time and energy especially since he has a little. Then we have Whitney she giving no man no time especially after the fresco with her ex who wanted to live the fast life and got sent to jail. After that she was done with him even after he got out and got on the straight and narrow and raised her little girl. This story was clean cut not a lot of drama well De’Quincy baby mama tried to start drama but got over it quickly. This was a cute blending of the families story and I love how the little girls felt like they were sisters

Good Story

This is the first time I’ve ever read a book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Though I like the books I read to be a little hood with some drama occasionally I love a good love story that’s really just a good love story and this book delivered and the bonus is that it is a standalone but it also left clues that this may not be the last we hear from DeQuincy and Whitney because Carter and Wendy may have a story coming. Even with the bit of curiosity lingering this story is complete.

I also appreciated the author putting connected character links in this book. For example Camille is someone DeQuincy was interested in but it didn’t work out a link to her story is in the book prompting me to download it now I will read that next. More authors should do that. I love when connect characters from previous books I love it even more when there is a link to that book and I can find it without having to investigate what story they came from. If Camille’s book is as good as this one, this author may have just gained a new fan.

Blended Love

I enjoyed reading about De’Quincy & Whitney’s love journey. De’Quincy knew from day one that Whitney was his forever and he waited patiently for her to eventually catch up. Their daughters, Talia and Ryleigh, were best friends so it was quite natural for them to get to know each other while their daughters spent time together. De’Quincy, Whitney, Ryleigh, and Talia had a beautiful, loving, blended family that was so sweet. I wanted to know what they were going to name the twins. Did Carter step up into a relationship with Wendy and what ended up happening with Angel and her baby daddy?

i didn’t care for de’quincy. something about his demeanor just kinda threw me off. i also thought the pacing of the book was off. like in one paragraph quincy and whitney would be saying one thing and in the literal next paragraph they’re doing what they said they wasn’t gonna do. or how at the very beginning they said they were gonna take it slow, but the next paragraph whit is talking about all the dates they’d been on with and without family. i’m just like HUH. i found myself getting bored with this book towards the end. kinda skimming the unnecessary dialogue. i was truly ready to get this book over with.

🔥🔥🔥

This story flowed beautifully, as each character grew into their own. The two best friends I think is what really assisted in the relationship growing and developing smoothly, I thought there was going to be some kickback from Q baby mother but he kept things in check with her respectfully so she had no choice but to get with the program even when they had the other parent partake in a group conversation it indeed was a great idea. It's always best to know what you wanted and to be exact when you pray and Whitney got her happily ever after.

Flowed Beautifully…Job Well Done…

You did that Sis…Kept the ghetto at bay and kept it cute through out the entire book..DaQuincy was one for the record books…A black man at his finest allowing his word to be his bond..Whitney handled the cards dealt and played her hand to win..Absolutely appreciated you sparing us the cheating back and forth toxicity… DaQuincy and Whitney put their past relationships to bed…Bypassed being bitter and embraced the real when God put it before them..Talia and Rhyleigh were too cute…Real curious to know what happens between Carter and Wendy..

spell it into existence

This was a good read DeQuincy did not let his heart harden after what Angel did but he took it to go with prayer and patience he found his love in Whitney who wasn’t looking for love but found it in Quincy & Talia….Quincy and Whitney were both honest of their needs and desires on a relationship and putting prayer and communication at the forefront and leaving the toxicity out…I hope carter and Wendy get a book i know their story will be filled with some craziness mixed with a whole lot of love

3 ⭐

I would have loved this book if we were able to see the romance develop. The author did more telling than showing us the early stages of their romance. They flirted, homie was ready to commit from the jump, we get told about them spending time together and growing their relationship and then boom they damn near living together.

To be fair to the story, this did not make the book feel rushed in any way. We were able to see the relationship progress and got some ex drama sprinkled in. But I could have done with all the extra, if we got to see more of the beginning of the romance.

Beautifully written!

First time reading this author’s work, and I’m not disappointed at all. Love Whitney’s determination to break away from the foolish narrative of “ a ride or die” babymama ,as well as the resolve to set a good example for the girls. Also loved Q’s resolved to date with intention and the ultimate request of asking the Most High for His guidance!
Wanted the ex’s to be more in their feelings , especially Angel, although she got her karma.
Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for a beautiful story,no errors at all.

Good read

Ill give this a 3.5 rating. I think the story was good but I would say the transition to the next topic wasn't really smooth. For example after the conversation with Quincy and Angel is just swiftly move to the next 3 years. I was confused at first but realize oh the story time jump. That kept happening other then that Quincy and Whitney love story was cute and I loved the blended family aspect. Slight drama but it turns positive

Great Read 📚 👏🏾 ❣️ 👍🏾

Wonderful characters with solid and relatable backstories. Excellent level of spice mixed with joy and fun. Kids were realistic without being bratty. Family dynamics had dysfunctional elements without being toxic and overbearing. Chemistry between the MCs was great and genuine. I loved the inclusion of Godcas the head 9f the8r human lives! I would definitely recommend this book. This was a great read 📚 👏🏾.

NTM Author.

I liked it. It was sweet. Very wordy. I wanted more from it. TBH, I wanted them to not be so.. easy going. I was like nah, these people are walk overs, or am i mean?

However, I loved the fact that the FMC was a practitioner. I love lady bosses! She was strong, determined and doing well for herself and her kid.
I loved their HEA and of course the twins!

The MMC's baby mama could have went to hell. I'm sorry.

love after letdown!
new-to-me author and I enjoyed this read! Quincy accepted his circumstances and he decided to keep going for him and his daughter, in spite of! Whitney, the same too! I loved how she knew that enough was enough & chose to be a better example for her daughter. I loved Whitney & Quincy together and how their girls were tight knit. A beautiful blended family! Quincy was a patient man with Whitney, to an extent lol and I loved that he knew without a doubt that she was HIS!

fantastic read

Quincy and Whitney were all that I really enjoyed this story they were the sweetest couple and those children were absolutely adorable. Now Angel was a mess in the beginning but she redeemed herself and Carter and Wendy should be next. Blended families can be awesome if all adults got along.

Great book

I look a book about forgiveness and letting God leading you next go round in a relationship. Clearly, DeQuincy met his wife when Whitney entered the house at his daughter’s Talia party. I glad all was resolved and loved really did show up and show out with God’s hands in it of course.

Honestly, the errors were irritating.

Otherwise the book was pretty good. The girls relationship and the relationship they had with both parents, how everyone really co-parented and was absent as a whole. I loved Whit and Quincy relationship. But let’s ask about Carter and Wendy cause that is starting to sound too cute too. Anyways, I love the little drama and lots of love In this book.

Wonderful story!!

This is my first time reading this author and I loved the story and the storyline of how God was incorporated into everything they did. And it was a pleasure to see how they co-parented and how Whit took a liking to his ex and all the things she did for her. Just an all-around awesome read.

I breezed through My Love Is Only for You by Joslyn Marks was an easy, quick read that kept my attention the whole time.

There were definitely things I enjoyed. De’Quincy claiming Whitney with zero hesitation? Loved that. I also really appreciated seeing both of them show up as great parents. And the friendship between their daughters was honestly one of my favorite parts. Even though the girls sometimes acted a little older than their age, I didn’t mind much—they really held each other down, and that bond was sweet to see.

That said, the romance moved fast. The relationship progression felt a bit rushed, which made it harder for me to fully connect at times. I think if things had developed more gradually, it would’ve hit a little deeper emotionally.

Overall, this was a solid read that I did enjoy. I’d be open to checking out more from this author in the future.

This was a beautiful book. Whitney and De'Quincy went through so much prior to finding each other. I am glad their girls both them together. Ryleigh and Talia were so cute. they helped each other through a rough time.
Angel was a different type of mom in the beginning. I am glad she was able to evolve in the end.
Justin grew up, too.
I would recommend the book.

I stumbled upon this book in Hoopla and went in pretty much blind. I’ve never read anything from this author, and I was so pleasantly surprised. The main couple is mature. There’s no back-and-forth push and pull or drama within the relationship. They know what they want and they went after it.

No third act break up.
