Bellann Summer lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband and children surrounded by lakes and woods. In the summer Bellann enjoys fishing, camping, gardening and growing flowers. Autumn is spent out in the woods exploring the beautiful colors and nature at its finest. In the winter there is ice fishing, snowmobiling and sitting in front of the wood fireplace. She has always loved to read and any free time is spent with a book in her hand. When major life changes occurred, she decided to try writing what she liked to read. And it worked.
Oh man...I didn’t like this one very much. Definitely insta-love on steroids here. But did I want woman drama? No. Did I need a surprise pregnancy? Negative. I hate that shit. Oh well. Maybe the others will be better. What a crappy way to end 2018.
Audio edition, narrated by Darcy Stark. 2 hours and 27 minutes

I had just finished #1 Bear's Pup of this series. My review here. Bear's Pup was just a fun, silly, cheesy romance galore, but there's a point where cheesy becomes stupid, and it happened in this book. The story was just unbelievable and I was rolling my eyes harder and harder.
Jack Woods is a team member of the Rescue for Hire company ran by the main character of #1, Cade. Cade and Jack are also best friends. Cade and Bret of #1 also make an appearance in this book. This time the Rescue Team is called in to help with a shooting at the community center (what's with this town? Flooding and shootings all over the place?). There, Jack rescues one of the teachers, Brian Hayward, and his class of perfectly behaved 3 year olds, who just do as their told. and don't kick up a fuzz when a huge guys in tactical wear comes and is sneaking them all out to safety. (Yeah, right)
Anyway, bam! Insta attraction and love between Jack and Brian. Because, eye color.
------------------------------------- But what drew Jack in was his eyes. They were large and blue. Not light blue or dark blue, but a blue blue. With long thick dark lashes surrounding them. -------------------------------------
Cue, the cheese! What made me roll my eyes (blue, for the record. I don't know if they are "blue blue" or "dark blue", though) was not - the insta attraction, or - Brian's inability to pull up his own damn pants, or even walk because of some cuts and bruises due to a fall on the asphalt at the beginning of the book. Jack actually carries him around just because Brian has cuts on his knees and they were "a little sore", because Jack is such a nurturer, as the blurb say - or this:
------------------------------------- Brian's eyes widened as he watched this huge hunk of a man actually down on his knees in front of him. If he'd been near a camera he would have taken a picture, so when he was old, and in a wheel chair, he could just stare at the sight before him. -------------------------------------
What made me Judge Judy roll my eyes, was the insanely stupid story plot! Why not call this story (plot spoiler!)
The whole story plot was just so unbelievable stupid that I didn't get to enjoy the cheesiness. This one was a miss. I'm still continuing with the series, though.
After reading book one in Bellann Summer's 'Rescue for Hire' series, I was more than ready to jump right into Jack's adventure. As Cade's best friend, a valued member of the team, and a paramedic, I really wanted to see Jack find the love that Cade and Bret had. Plus, I wanted to see more of the guys. Sue me. I like 'em big, strong, and tough.
The team is on a rescue mission right in their town at the community center after some whack job opened fire. Brian is hiding in the closet in his room with his seven three-year-olds having them believe they're playing hide-and-seek with the manager of the center. I couldn't imagine anyone being that calm and self-possessed, especially when dealing with very small children. It made me like Brian immediately. Jack and Brian only need one look at each other to know they've found their one.
Everything would have been perfect for Jack and Brian, and their new relationship, if it weren’t for Sherrie. Jack and Sherrie had been on-again, off-again for a year, more off than on, though. Jack ended it with her before he met Brian, but she doesn't want to let Jack go. I had visions of a bunny boiling on the stove in a pot.
As with the first book in the series, what happened next didn't come as a big surprise, but I really enjoyed the way the author handled it. Even better was the aftermath a few weeks later that left me laughing in more than one place. And no, I'm not telling, it's a spoiler.
Another fun, sexy installment in a series about tough men and the smaller men who tame them.

I'm not going to finish this.
Again, the author lures you in with a witty idea in the first few pages and then everything falls to pieces with ridiculous events. I'm rather stopping now. Sad to say, because I liked the way they meet. Loss of potential.
Uh. Pretty much like the first book in the series. These people are on speed and everything is super-simplified. I also wish to know where Jack’s apparently endless funds come from. I mean, that house of his? Whoa. Not that I think the author truly considered such matters; I get the sense that these stories are pure fantasies of ideal situations. Someone’s ideal, anyway.
Once more there’s that strange fetish of huge guys lugging tiny guys around as though they are babies. And protecting them much the same way. Made all the more interesting when actual babies are added to the mix!
Speaking of, I just wish to point out that auditively there’s no real way to distinguish between someone saying . I suppose Jack was reading the subtitles.
On the whole I don’t quite know what to say. I didn’t really like this and overall it’s completely ridiculous. But it also demands about zero emotional investment and that kind of suits me fine right now. So I may attempt the next book as well.
Jack is the medic at Rescue for hire. He finds Brian Hayward (aka Sweets aka Pip) when he rescues the man after his child care center is attacked. Just like his Boss, once Jack meets Pip he knows he’s the “one”. Brian is a very small guy, he was born prematurely and has remained petite his entire life. He loves kids and dogs and wouldn’t hurt a fly. The rest of his family are sports fanatics so he’s never felt included or loved for being himself. Jack and Pip make a home fairly quickly but are stymied by one of Jack’s exes – Sherry. She ends up with a big surprise and won’t take no for an answer.
**
This another great Alpha/small guy story. Pip is really sweet and ends up being a central figure in the series (along with Jack, of course.) Pip’s family also ends up playing a role in the series and they’re more problem than can be imagined.
I really enjoyed this on Audio, too – Darcy Stark does a lovely job with the voices and this is a great way to experience this book/series.
Sorry, this one didn't work for me. Brian falls on some asphalt and scrapes his hands and knees. Poor baby :( He has to be carried around and couldn't even pull up his own pants after using the bathroom? Are you serious? My kids are 5 and 6 (now) and when they were smaller they would fall a lot and get cuts and scrapes. Guess what? They use the potty all by themselves. It was a little too much for me to get behind. The pillows and blankets in the truck? Yeah. No.
Wish we could learn more about the team though. Still don't know anything about them. Again, the writing more telling than showing.
I will still read more of this series. I am interested in reading about Treb.
Well... I didn't like it. It's more of the same things that were bad in the first book; jumpy narrative, flat characters, almost non-existent story... It was also really overplayed. Seriously, scraping his knees on the asphalt caused Brian to be unable to walk for days?
I honestly can't say anything about the characters since I didn't feel like I got any kind of grip of them. They were quite one-dimensional. It feels like this story was just about the sex, and they basically skip right to that, have a sex scene, skip forward in time again and then have another sex scene. We get a tiny bit of conflict in the beginning with Jack's ex girlfriend who just won't accept that they've broken up, but then she disappears almost completely from the story
All in all, I didn't think it was worth the read. Still, as I said with the previous book, if you're looking for some sex scenes and don't mind the "Plot? What plot?" story, you still might like it.
Have you ever made a mistake and then realized that fate had a hand in things and you stumbled into a book, an author, a series, that made you smile? Jack's Sweets is that sweet mistake and even if I do rate this the way I did, I will go out of my way, take the time and just click on the first book, Bear's Pup, so I could experience the joy of reading a relaxing nice read that is light and enjoyable.
This is a great escape book, and yes, I would be the first to admit to some guilty pleasures once in while. Okay, I admit, all the time I do succumb to these lights and fluffs for these are totally a joy.
We have Jack, a huge man with a whole lot of training, needing to feel the love only a partner can give after seeing his best friend find his one and only. Without seemingly looking for this rare individual, he stumbles into Brian, a small but independent man who just so happened to be in the way of a shooter who barges into the community center where he works with children. Jack was one of the team members who rescues him and there is an instant attraction.
Okay, so fans out there who do not like insta-love and such, well, this is one of those things but I do really like the way this was treated. Jack's type are small builds and eyes to die for and Brian just so happens to be that type. Yes, they fall insta-lust, but their relationship do go through the rigmarole of angsts and drama from an ex-from-hell.
The drama comes in when two little bundles of joy come in unexpectedly and in the most tragic manner and the men do get into all sorts of mess. Thanks to the team and three biddy old women, they do handle their new joys and lived to tell the tale.
Now this is not a shortie but it is so light and even lightly treated and written that it came out a shortie. It was entertaining, I did not have to think and ponder on the mysteries of the world. It was romantic, believe it or not, and best of all, it just had enough of erotica in it to make this sizzle a bit.
So yes, a discovery from a mistake that made me smile.
It pretty much lived up to the title...it was sweet...a little too sweet actually. Jack is the typical big buff alpha male and Brian is the typical petite feminine boy. I kind of liked where the story went but it wasn't anything shocking or New. I also thought that there was a missed opportunity to delve into Brian's feelings regarding the big change they were going through. If it had been any normal person in that situation there would have been many feelings and fears going through their head that could have effected the relationship. The book can be a bit choppy at times. I believe that the perspective transitions need to be improved. I find myself going back to reread a couple sentences bc I.realize that the perspective has changed with no notice or warning. These books are ok for a quick read if ur in the mood for a Toppy Guy and the Pretty Boy book. :-)
Jack is the second in command of Rescue for Hire. On one rescue he finds a small man hiding with his class. After the rescue Jack takes Brian home with him. Brian was a very premature baby and has medical issues from it. He is a sweet man too. They have to deal with Jack's previous girlfriend. Interesting book with just enough drama.
a bit better than bk 1 but not by much. same instalove, big dicked alpha Dom needing to be all end all for his small frail weaker man. and what is up with the weak guy getting pushed and getting road rash on hands n knees being unable to do anything for themselves all of sudden. on to bk 3
Approx 62 page read. Jack and Brian. Good read. Insta Love, together forever, nothing standing in the way. Crazy Angle Ranch, Rescue for Hire, Granite County and Rescue for Hire West are all connected.
