Abyss

Abyss is a full length play in two acts with an interval in between. It is essentially a racy crime thriller full of gritty suspense. Act one builds up slowly to result in a crescendo of conflicts between personalities and ideas finally to end with an unnatural death before the interval. Is it a suicide or a murder? Act two evolves through a series of incisive interrogations to unravel the truth, which is deeply disturbing and affecting. As the play unfolds into a very well crafted situational thriller, underneath is the debate about using land for agriculture or for industry, the ethics of a working author and the nexus of a modern state all wonderfully enmeshed into its storyline and the personal lives of its subtly etched out characters. The highpoints of the play are its central conflict between a mother and her daughter and its female sleuth – Renuka.

A thriller narrative put in the form of performance is something unheard of for me. Creating a story including only the actors and a few things on the scene and executing it into a novel is very praiseworthy. I have never got across such books where there is space as well as character restraint, and yet those limitations do not restrict you to deliver cracker of a thriller. Sabarna, with every book of his, catches me by wonder, completely.

The personas, the twists, the narration, and the entire structure, takes you by surprise. You think you understand the story and what's gonna occur, but then instantly, the next minute, you are taken by surprise. I admire how the writer arranges that so effortlessly and faultlessly. Playing and portraying human characteristics in a frank yet twisted way is his masterpiece. This book's title has you intrigued like all of his books; but, I wish the cover was more appealing.

Me sharing the same professional background as the author, I never thought that a person of an engineering environment could be a writer as well, not just any writer but an outstanding one. I am falling in love with his work with each book. Depiction of the thriller in two acts, the background score distinctly stated in brackets, and the representation of sentiments of concupiscence, leadership, faith, and passion, is pellucid.

I would surely suggest this book to everyone and particularly the psycho-thriller fans; you are in for a treat!

Dark thriller

When the story starts in the drawing room of a house, with two characters who are apparently lovers, Oindrila and Mriganka, one can never guess the twist in plot that follows. The narration is quite gripping and the otherwise simple characters gradually turns shady and malicious. With each turn of page, a new character is unfolded, a new secret is revealed. There are so many diverse characters in this book but not at all confusing. All the characters contributed equally to the plot. The language is very simple. The ending keeps you in a cliffhanger yet satisfied. I recommend this book to everyone. Also a must read for thriller lovers.

Debasree a middle age attractive woman, Chief promoter of the Lahiri group of companies & Oindrila's mother. Oindrila, a 27 year-old woman with Masters is Chemical Engineering, a diploma holder in Business management & the apparent heir to the Lahiri group of companies. Mriganka, in his thirties, a not so successful writer. There's a cold feud in the family regarding using land for agricultural or for industry which leads to the tragic death of Oindrila. Is it a simple suicide or is there a bigger conspiracy?

Abyss is a small play in two acts with an interval in between. This is a short crime thriller play about love, life, betrayal, crime and death. In the first half we get to know the characters and their mindset, after the interval things get dark and gives a hostile vibe.

I like the settings and ambiences this book has. For every scene there is a dedicated ambience and stage setting. Talking about the writing style, it's good and flowy. One thing I didn't like is the sudden personality change of almost every character but I like the way through a series of interrogations the truth finally comes out.

The story was pretty predictable that's why I liked it short because there's no point stretching a story so long to which I already know the answer. Though the characters were very disturbing and flawed I can see how true they are. We can find millions of these characters roaming on this earth and cases like this occurs in real life. So I can say this book is a true reflection of a particular group of people surrounding us.

A fast-paced mysterious play!

Abyss is a full length play consisting two acts representing a family drama.
A beautiful and a charming girl named Oindrila daughter of a very successful woman named Debasree commits suicide or it may have portrayed like one. Renuka, a private investigator is hired to look over the case and solve the mystery.

Act 1 starts with an arranged meeting to make Oindrila's mother meet Mriganka, her lover for the first time. Things happened and Oindrila dies and then the interval happens.

Act 2 is all about investigating all the suspects which was the most interesting part I'd say.

Reading this one was something new for me and surprisingly great. I entirely enjoyed this play. It's a fast paced and a short one as well. The plot is interestingly pretty engaging and well-crafted. The narration is fast and stable. It can be easily read by any kind of reader.

An abyss of greed, love and lust in which a person is seized and happens to do the unimaginable. Hence, the cover and the title completely justifies the book.

I was hooked to the book once I finished the second scene and completed the book on a go.

I recommend you to read it if you love reading mystery and suspense!

Writers and industrialists usually don’t go together. Former are practical and latter are emotional. In this play these are shown to get along or do they don’t?

Debasree is a strong woman and after the death of her hubby she took over the greedy family and business both. Her daughter Oindrila loves a writer named Mriganka. He is very emotional and rebellious.

This is a two-part play and a thriller. I loved the play and I recommend it.

This book is written as a play and have some morally-grey,extremely well written but flawed characters.

The story revolves around love, lust, greed and basically their effects on human psychology.

Where her own people were spoiled with greed, lust and power, so much to even kill her. Not only her mother but also her own family is against her and have a very well defined motive to murder her. There are a couple bunch of characters who has got their own reasons to be the way they are. Whom to trust? Her boyfriend , who was no more in love with her? Her own cousins, who wanted to get revenge for everything they have been through? Her own mother, who spent her entire life for the good sake of her daughter. This short book took me on an extravagant journey of understanding human emotions and nature.

I'm extremely compelled by the authors writing style. He has this ability of understanding human emotions and articulating it in the simplest manner possible.
It took me about two hours to read so, definitely a fast-paced.
The writing style is easy yet intriguing to read.
There's also a detective/mystery element in the story.
The revelation wasn't that surprising but the way the author put it, it makes sense and give a texture to the story.
And as I said flawed-complex yet interesting characters. All of them have good reasons to be bad, there're not bad just for the sake of being bad.

Overall I'll rate it 4.25 /5. Loved it so much definitely one of my favourites by Sabarna Roy.

The title and the cover of the book is really catchy and intriguing. The story folds out as a stage act with all those intervals and conversations. The story tries to explain the greed and lust and the extent of things it makes the humans to do.

Like ABYSS ,"a deep, endless, bottomless, immesurable space or cavity" here the characters have fallen into the abysses of greed and lust.

The play is divided into two acts and act consists of five and eights scenes respectively. The first act was narrated lesisurely, slow building up the suspense for the second act. The second act went through a series of investigation and interrogations which helped to keep up the pace of the book.

The story is about a single mother who raised to the top of her husband's family business after putting up with her in laws. And how affectionate she was towards her only daughter which was going all good untill a devil comes in their life in the form of a writer who establishes his own prespective of things and exhibiting his rude and open behaviour.

The author has involved a lot of emotions in the book which keeps us engaged till the last even after a slow start. The ending was pretty obvious and expected, it does not turned out to be a suspense as we expect it in the crime stories.

The language of the book was not that easy. But the emotions and feeling were easy to understand. A mild hint of agricultural land being exploited for industrial purposes was pretty nicely conveyed by the author. Not reccomended to first time readers.

The title of the book is very catchy. Abyss means "a deep, immeasurable space, gulf, or cavity; vast chasm. anything profound, unfathomable, or infinite: the abyss of time."

The book is in the form of a play divided into 2 parts. The first part before the interval is slow pace and then steadily moves faster after the interval. Both the parts are very well narrated and the play talks about a writer and a very strong women on the other side. Each act has various scenes and each scene unfolds itself with very thrilling story.

The first part very slowly builds up the thrilling story and then the second part after the interval unwinds the whole thrill. The story is mainly focused on 3 characters -
Debasree who is Tall and strikingly
attractive, Chief promoter of the Lahiri group
of companies, Oindrila’s mother.
Oindrila who is a Melancholic beauty, A Master in Chemical Engineering and A Diploma Holder in Business Management, Heir apparent to the Lahiri group of companies.
Mriganka who is Irreverential, Writer, Brilliant eyes, square jawed and lightly bearded and Oindrila’s lover.

The book talks about an interesting thriller whether to use the land for agriculture or industrial purposes. There is a great thrift between the writer's ethics and a story headed modern industrialist woman. It beautifully also has their personal aspects.

A book that definitely has a very dark and treacherous side to it. This book is a remarkable example of what human's basic emotion such as love and greed in excess can produce and in turn change the meaning of the most virtuous and unadulterated relationship of all times. How it corrupts and destroyes a person and their values to the core.

The book starts with a very ordinary plot of a daughter bringing her muse to her home. In order to garner her mother's affirmation. But later the plot takes a nose dip into the darkest realms of a human character ever possible. The plot further takes worst turns in terms of human behaviour but best possible turn in terms of storytelling. The plot unravels other character which are equally shady and evil.

This book will definitely not let you get up, even if it is for a second. Until somebody forces you to, which by the way happened in my case and that is because number one - It is quite short in length and number two - the plot is extremely interesting.

Even though you get a tiny bit of hint about the ending beforehand, it still keeps you hooked until the end. In order to know the ultimate truth, the ultimate end you have to keep on reading until the last page, until the last moment.

Every character had their own share of dark life and had one single person to blame for their sorrow. The author will make you hate the antagonist and still leave room for admiration.

You cannot and should not give this a miss at any cost if you have Passion for thriller/mystery/dark thriller

This book is from supense, thriller genre of books. The story is written as play. The play has two acts with diffrent scenes. In the first act a Beautiful and charming girl named Oundrila has arranged a meeting for her mother to meet Mriganka ( lover of Oindrila). Debashree( who was married at very young age and lost her husband at the age of 24) is the mother of Oindrila. Debashree is rich, standard living style, a comapny and a plan to extend the company. However she doesn't consider Mriganka as a perfect person for her daughter. Mriganka is a struggling writer and has written few books earlier. Oindrila has arranged this meeting so that her relationship can be approved by her mother.

Things happened and Oindrila committed suicide or may be it was a murder but arranged in a way to look like a suicide. To know the truth, Debashree hired a private investigator named Renuka ( ab ex IAS officer). And the story revolves aroung revealing the truth. The second act is all about interrogation of all the suspects.

The story is totally engaging and the plot is well crafted and maintain the suspense as well interest throughout the whole book. I am very satisfied with the characters and loved every character for their role whether it's Debashree, Oindrila , Mriganka, Debibabu, Renuka, Ayan or Lalita. They all are strong, conversation among them is totally mind-blowing. The whole plot is very sharp and to the point. You can't even miss a single part of conversation. You will be hooked until the end of the book and woahh you will be really surprised, unable to say a word as the climax is totally unexpected but yeah beautiful. I loved the climax. This book is short but really very very interesting.. that's why I am highly recommending it to everyone. If you want to read a thriller book then just go for it without thinking twice.

Sabarna Roy's "Abyss" is an outstanding and super engaging book that comes with an exotic story penned down in peculiar style. It's a crime thriller read presented in form of acts that mainly focused on ethical values, conflicts and conspiracies in relationships and corporate.

Storyline's form is a play of two acts including sequential scenes mostly with living room and investigation room as background.

Act 1 starts with conversation of Oindrila, and her lover Mriganka for his first meeting to would be mother in law Debasree. She finds Mriganka unmatch for daughter rejects reluctantly. Last scene is about Oindrila's mysterious death leaving question whether it is suicide or murder.
Act 2 is following the mysterious death happened in act 1. Investigative scenes are played with two additional charachters of Samaresh and Renuka. Renuka is investigating all suspicious characters shown present with oindrila before her death. Scene ends with shocking revelation with identified culprit and the motive to kill.

The title 'Abyss' is quite appropriate and suits the story wholly as it depicts hidden dark sides of human and their secrets meant to be unrevealed. I love the concept of presentation of the contents in innovative form and simple and smooth language.

It's absolutely an amazing read with the perfect blend of thriller, suspense and mysterious charachters. Its fast pacing story that will leave you clueless and intriguing throughout. I would definitely recommend all to go for this book and give it read.

“Abyss” is a nail-biting action-packed dark thriller from Sabarna Roy this book is a proper play and divided into two acts.
The story starts with a couple Oindrila and Mriganka and they both were waiting for Oindrila’s Mother Debasaree for her approval. Mriganka is a struggling writer who writes as per his own taste in literature and didn’t bother much as getting higher in this game. Debasaree doesn’t consider Mriganka as her daughter’s choice, Debasaree is a Business tycoon, a strong personality who we did not satisfy with anything less what unfolds between Debasaree and Mriganka is worth reading, Meanwhile, Oindrila dies and Debasaree hires a Detective.

How Oindrila dies was she murder or is it an act of suicide?
Does her murder was related to her business and employees?
Did Mriganka murder her?

Lots of Questions are there it’s better to read this play than to give any more spoilers.

It’s been a long time since I read a play, so when I got this book I was totally hooked on it, this was a faced pace book and it took me less than three hours to finish this. Firstly all the major characters were strongly developed and the ending was actually unexpected. The writing was lucid, and the dialogues were good. The second act was even faster than the first act was the Detective Renuka investigates the case, and as a detective

I am really impressed with Sabarna Roy's play Abyss. Well etched characters, quirky dialogues and conflict that is introduced early, make this play highly entertaining.

A business martinet, who doesn't approve of her only child's lover, warring cousins and a faithful employee who seems to have changed sides, Abyss has every essential of a good play. The story is believable with characters that are easy to relate to. This being a play, it was important that every character should exhibit its traits through dialogues, and the author highly succeeds on this front.

This is a murder mystery and the author does a wonderful job of camouflaging the true murderer. He weaves compelling circumstances which make you look at every character with suspicion. This is his success as a playright.

I am dying to see this play being enacted on the stage. I am sure it will run full houses. I also look forward to read and watch other plays by Sabarna Roy.

Abyss by Sabarna Roy is a full length play in two acts with an interval in between. It has shades of lust for money, opposite sex, fame, in addition to depression and betrayal.

Oindrila and Mriganka were lovers.Oindrila's mother Debashree had no plans of getting them married as she doesn't seem them a perfect match. With in a few days of Mriganka meeting Oindrila's mother something changes so drastically that Oindrila lies in the trenches of depression all day drinking sensing that Mriganka doesn't love her any more.

Why did Oindrila's mother didn't seem Mriganka as a perfect match for her daughter?
Why did the love of Mriganka vanished for oindrila?
Did Debashree tricked Mriganka to change his mind of marrying Oindrila?

The play was well penned with all the features of elements of play like background music and curtains raising and falling. It would be interesting to see if this story would be performed on the stage as written. Story flow was excellent. But at some point the story became obviously predictable for me may be because I watch a lot of crime patrol episodes😅.

On the whole it's a pleasant read, definitely a page turner.Narration was simple.Language was understandable.Title, Book cover and end were perfectly apt.

"Abyss", a thriller play of two acts by Sabarna Roy is about a murder mystery which takes place in a family where each member is of different personality and are having a pretty hard time to grapple with the crisis that had led from this personality clash. If this is not enough, there might a new addition to the family. The story actually gears up right from when Mriganka has come to meet the mother of his lover, Oindrila.
.
There are total of nine characters who are introduced individually right before commencing the play. Starting with a conversation between a woman and her writer lover about meeting her mother, it all soon turns into a debate reflecting their cerebration. More of this type of discourse will be seen further in the play. Love, betrayal, lust, power, family and treachery are the themes around which all the characters move along.
.
The one of two acts is formed up from all the moments leading up to the death of one of the character and the other is an interrogation piece by a female detective, which will ultimately disclose whether it was a suicide or a murder. This play is much more than a normal family feud. It is about the prospects one can go through to achieve power and whatever they want.
.
In the second act, the character of Debashree is a very strong one as a self made business woman enduring many hardships of life. This has also led to her love of being in power. This results in disagreement between family members and soon after a death creates another chaos. The role of Renuka is also well portrayed as the detective and the series of questioning with each character in separate scenes. This will unveil many secrets running in the family and eventually the truth.
Read this amazing suspense thriller and get to know about what exactly happened.

Book Review: Abyss
Author : Sabarna Roy.
Pages: 115
Genre: Play, Mystery, Thriller.

The play is well written. The concept is not new, yet the plot is engaging. The depth in the characters is appreciable. The dialogues are striking and exemplary. It was short at times incredible. For any new reader in the genre of thriller drama plays it's an excellent read. The language, scene description, plot was up to snuff. The characters could have been explored a bit more but given the length of the book the work was exquisite. One can see hints of every emotion and human behaviour in this book.
Could have added more visual aspects.
The book name does justice.
The book cover could have been better.
In short a quick ride of drama and mystery that anyone would like.
My rating for this one will be just below 4.
My rating: 3.8/5.

This is a story written in the form of a play. This was different and I liked all the characters. I never thought the person would kill Oindrella. Mriganka was a different person.

This is a short thriller where Oindrella and Mriganka were waiting for her mother to get acceptance of her love. Debasree is a single mother who was so bold and took the family business and made it a big kingdom after the death of her husband.

On the day of the family meeting, Oindrella was found dead while everyone was waiting for having dinner. Who killed her, was it suicide as she was going to head a venture and her cousins and Debibabu. To know what happened just read it guys. You will enjoy reading it guys.

Story of the book is about oindrilla, book mystery revolve around her anyhow.
Book is a theater play which have 2 act and have dialogues only no further information added which is important to build suspense.

Act one start with the conversation between oindrilla and mriganka, they are in love and mriganka visit to meet debashree (oindrilla's mother) for their marriage agreement. Story involve characters like Debibabu, Ayan, Lalita, Samresh and Renuka.
Start of the story of oindrilla's marriage turn up into her murder mystree , Renuka the investigator try to solve this mystery and try to collect all the shattered pieces of the puzzle and interrogate every single suspect.

Writer tried to show how a person's desire, their greed, jealously, love and hustle can change behavior, reason and motives.

I find authors motive to write this book to show how relations can be betrayed, how things get darker after every incident and you can't find what people actually willing to do.
Investigation of Renuka find out how ayan have love with her and he wants to revive their relationship, lalita is completely jealous with oindrilla so she have tried to kill her before and her current meetings with mriganka, debibabu have served for debashree's company for years but he felt fool after realising debashree's plan. Oindrilla death rise so many questions which have allegation on every character because everyone has a motive to kill her.

This book has:-
Location:-Where it is being played like most of the scene is played in dinning and drawing room and dinner table.
Character involvement:-Character involves with the scene like act second is full of interrogation scenes with Renuka which show some background stories.
Timing:-What time of the scene is presenting like dinner party at night, almost every character have been to denashree's house  at the noon of the date of murder.

Author creat a very well written play. Book has only conversation so the audience need to understand every character's perspective by their dialogue like how mriganka a very mature writer show his jurk face infront of debashree that was a jaw dropping moment for me... You can't find the killer and killer's motive. Three most time i feel the peak of the thrill with surprises you may find more.

Defiantly a great book and great work by author.

Review:
Sabarna Roy’s book “Abyss” is a chilling crime thriller play all set in Kolkata. It has two acts with an interval in between. If you are into thriller books, you would definitely like this one. Honestly, I had read Sabarna Roy’s books before, but I never knew he has a good taste in thrillers too.
In Act 1, all the characters are introduced. You will first read about Debashree, a strong woman who runs her family business. Basically she marries young at the age of sixteen only, she has a baby at eighteen whom she names Oindrila, and her husband dies when she was just twenty-four. You will see how hard she fights to get her rights of the business into her hand after her in-laws betray her. Time passed by, as she expands the business, and gains more money, with that power. Now, she decides to transfer the business in Oindrila’s hand. But, does she wants that? She loves an aspiring and struggling writer Mriganka, with whom she just wants to lead a happily married life. Debashree wasn’t in favour of their relation. Now the first twist comes, Oindrila dies! Is this murder or a suicide? End of the act.
The 2nd act marks the investigation where Debashree hires a private investigator names Renuka to catch the mastermind behind the murder. Will not delve into the 2nd act much, don’t want to give a spoiler. Will Renuka get hold of the culprit? What was the real motive behind the murder?
The raw and cold emotions shown in the book will definitely catch your mind. And the revelation at the climax will leave you spellbound. Each and every characters written are shady, that what makes the book more engaging. You will understand why the author titled the book Abyss after reading the book. My rating would be 4.4 out of 5. Recommending for sure!

Different

It is a different book, a different play. Not like the usual. The emotions described are cruel, yet appeasing to the inner eye. It brings out the cruel and yet justifies it.
It is a story based in Calcutta about Mriganka, a not so successful writer who loved Oindrila and is unable to convince her mother Debasree who was a shrewd businesswoman. This is where the plot begins, it includes some twists and turns on the way. Lalita, Ayan, and Debibabu are other characters in the play.

BOOK : ABYSS
AUTHOR : SABARNA ROY
RATING : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

What according yo you should a thrilling book have?
A story which will take you to deep thoughts at every page, which will give you goosebumps and which will make your heart beat fast.

Well, this book has everything and let me give you a glimpse of this book.
This book is divided into two parts.
Part1 is about introducing all the characters and describing what all happened.

Debasaree is a powerful character who has experienced worst of the worst scenarios. After her Husband passes away all the responsibilities is now on her. Taking caring care of her daughter, handling business, doing home chores. But she handles everything nicely.

Her world is now her daughter Oindrila.
The author has shown Oindrila character in a very beautiful way. She is not intrested in her mom's bussiness and wants to live a dream life with a guy who she loves the most. His name is Mriganka.

As time passes Oindrila introduced Mringanka to her mother.
Now you might think where the thrill is right?

So,the thrill proceeds when something happens to Oindrila and she dies.
Everybody thinks its a suicide but her mother thinks its a murder. So what do you think what is it ? A murder or suicide?

Now part2 is full of case solving, ups and downs, full of hints and suspecting each other .
Her mother tries to find out what exactly happened with her daughter with the help of an investigator Renuka. Renuka is an intelligent character.

The way Renuka has solved the case is amazing. Finding hints, suspecting on Mriganka and by wacking brains will all this help to solve the case ?

I really enjoyed this book and I really recommend all the readers to read this thrilling book filled with romance, investigation and much more.
The language was lucid and the flow was smooth.

Review:
I absolutely love the way Sabarna Roy writes.
🌼
The plot kept me hooked through out, its so engaging. The play is written well, it completes in two acts. The play surrounds a mother, daughter and the son in law. The emotions and relationships between humans are well explained through this play. Debashree was married at an young age and lost her husband.Oundrila her daughter is said to be best daughter for her. The mother daughter share a warm strong bond. Mriganka who loves Oundrila fails to impress his to be mother in law. Debashree sees that he's isn't perfect match for her daughter. Oundrila has arranged for a meeting between her mother and lover. Things take turn and Oundrila is found dead.

What made her die? Was it a suicide or murder?

Will Debashree try to find the truth behind her daughter's death?

The story is now gets thrilling and the suspense is carried well. Though the play looks like usual story, but the way it is conveyed makes it interesting. The story focuses on themes like love, greed, power, politics, heart breaks... The narration is smooth and language is lucid. Cover hints about the thriller plot. Title is apt for the story line.
🌼
Overall a good and short read

This book was very unique in a way that instead of the normal crime thriller, we get to see an enactment as a way of an act/play.

As a lover of theatre, I absolutely loved this rare demonstration of the story. I have never came across such an uncommon concept, so it was alone enough to pique my interest.

Basically, the book is divided into two scenes of an Act of play, wherein the first part, we get to know about the characters while the second is all about guesssing game.

The first scene of the Act One starts with a conversation between two lovers Mriganka and Oindrila, who have been together for some time now and are waiting to meet the protagonist's mom.

Reading about their conversation, we could get a glimpse that Mriganka and the mother don't share a cordial relationship. I personally felt that Mriganka was very whiny and sort of Negative Nelly.
But then we get to meet Debasree and the way she tried to control and dominate others around her, I thought that Mriganka’s disdain might not be so unreasonable.

Despite their differences, Debasree and Mriganka decide to work together for their own benefit, without Oindrila’s knowledge.
Every interaction that happened between Debasree and Mriganka was filled with double meaning, without not so innocent innuendos.

And then right before the interval, something happens, which was totally unexpected and holy moly, was it the thing that no one could have foreseen.

In the second Act, there's an interrogation and each scene with different individuals was very gripping and kept me on my seat, making me think about who the suspect would be.

I did have a faint idea about who the killer was, so the ending did not surprise me at all. Though I have to admit that the reason why things happened was definitely a shocker. I cannot fathom that just a petty jealousy would be the reason why an individual would have to lose his/her life.

Overall, the book was very interesting, albeit a short read for my liking, but I feel that with 90% of books, so it could be just me. The writing was very intriguing and I didn't feel like skipping any parts. So, that's a definite win for me.

I am going to give this book FIVE ABYSS STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

To write a play in a format of novel it itself praiseworthy. The author is famous for depicting human psychology wrapped in a bucket of words.

The play starts with a strong and independent woman who after her husband's demise put her hands in the family business and also give it a high wings to fly. It's difficult to raise a child alone but despite of all hurdles debasree somehow managed to raise oindrila as a strong and independent one. There comes another character namely Mrigangka whom the author introduced to us as an writer ; whose contents are mostly based on violence and sexualities. It's hard to accept an outsider whose status is not similar. How will debasree react when she came to know about her daughter's liking towards Mrigangka ?

People should be aware about whom to trust and to share confidential info. To know about oindrila's fate grab this gripping one.

Definitely a mystery thriller . The dialogues are heavy in nature.

Abyss by Sabarna Roy is a perfect piece of play of a family drama which contains two acts. In this play we meet Oindrila and Mriganka but when Oindrila dies mysteriously, a private investigator is hired to solve the mystery around her death. This was a well-written story and the author got the mystery and suspense right. Excitement, thrills, tension, and realism to keep the pace non-stop. Ingested with plenty of peril to keep the pages flying.

It's definitely a dark psychological thriller. I have to admit, this wasn't what I expected. Given the premise, I anticipated something more flimsy, but it was an addictive story. It's extremely suspenseful with lots of twists, subterfuge and intrigue. When things get really dicey, my nerves could hardly stand it. This book is full of flawed characters and it was really hard to know which ones to trust. If you like to read well written psychological thriller books, you won’t regret picking this page turner and plot driven book. This thriller, with it’s suspense, twists and turns, as it moves towards the finish, is brilliant, and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

Cover Page: The cover doesn’t give much just stairs to infinite. Which I believe what the author is kind of trying to tell with the story. So an Ok cover.

Review: The book is an theater role play about a famous industrialist whose daughter is about to join her company and is in love with a writer. And How one death is and the real picture behind the mask comes out.

When I finished reading i was totally grossed out at the end, and I could predict how it will end. As the new era comes relationship has lost its value and the book is completely on it. What I liked is the from the second part and how reality reveals its face. I predicted the ending but I didn’t want it to end that way. Character details are mentioned in the start and when characters keep coming I had to take a screenshot and check who is who.

Overall an ok ok read.

A well narrated play

Abyss as the title suggests takes you deep down the hole where you feel to be getting lost between lies and truth. The story starts with the scene where Mriganka and Oindrilla were waiting for Oindrilla's mother to talk about their relationship. The conversation goes on discussing about their careers and other issues involving close cousins of Oindrilla.

The title is apt for the plot and the narration is very clear and the scenes proceeded in a very interesting manner. The last scene especially the interrogation by Renuka was fantastic.

As this is narrated in the form of a play, the stage setting is briefly given making it easier for the reader to imagine the surroundings. The backdrop and the dialogues gave the required experience of watching a play live on the stage. Overall, this is a different read with a nice experience.

I would recommend this one to everyone who is interested to catch up with a short and refreshing read that would give out a gripping tale.

A proud businesswoman, a politically inclined writer and a daughter found dead under mysterious circumstances. These were the precise elements that made me pick up Abyss and it did not disappoint.
This play, consisting of 2 acts is a domestic thriller that revolves around the themes of lust, greed and family feud. Act 1 introduces us to Oindrilla, her lover Mriganka and her mother Debasree, and their relationships, tension, lives and business. Although relatively slower than the following act, this one builds a firm foundation for the ensuing story that unravels in act 2.
Abyss also boasts of wonderful character arcs, making you see, read and understand every decision and action taken by the characters in the play.
The language, however, was not to my liking as the dialogues were unnecessarily descriptive and failed to render a natural tone to the conversations. Minor grammatical errors too dampened the impact of the dialogues. However, the plot is certainly novel and fresh and the original narrative makes the story truly stand out.
