“3:40 a.m.” is a poetic take on the constant tug of war between the head & the heart, a forever battle between logic & emotion. It takes the reader on a journey starting from “grieving” & ending on “acceptance”.

Narrated by a fearless character, Zara, the book is a roller coaster of emotions ranging from desperation, emptiness, anxiety, denial, heartache, betrayal, and depression to letting it go, joy, love, union, art, hope, growth & so much more than one can imagine.

A few of the verses that piqued me:
🩸 "The most
Beautiful place
    To be in love
    With our own self."
I wonder, do we admire the first person we belong to, "Me"? I feel many ignore themselves in regard to their responsibilities and tasks they adhere to. The beautiful place to be loved the most is your own self.

🩸 "I live
inside my head so much that
I can rarely listen to my heart beating.
   I approach everything in life.
With logic so often
  That now emotions feel
Like a weakness. "
Occasionally, every person reasons out what they are doing. They find a logic behind every task they do. In this process, they forget to hear their heart and justify the emotions behind the task.

🩸"Before you decide to love again
Make sure to heal & rest.
From your past
     Else, you will end up
     Expecting them to heal
     Your wounds
Which were yours to heal all this time."
If hurt by the wrongdoings of someone or yourself, one should give time to heal your body rather than carrying the baggage of your guilt on someone else's shoulders. Every human has an expectation that he feels to satisfy in a relationship. He gives away if the baggage of guilt is loaded too much.

The author has beautifully blended the emotional turmoils and reality of life. The illustration of the verses pokes the reader to think about the situations when they try to pass on or tell someone else. The vivid yet sharp verses hit hard on your psyche.

Overall, it is an extremely enthralling collection of poems. Highly recommended!

"3:40 AM: From Heart to Head," a poetic collection by Urja Joshi, offers a profound exploration of the fragile dance between the heart💗 and the mind🧠, set against the backdrop of the most introspective hour of the night🌃. This book echoes with vulnerability and courage, inviting readers into a world🌏 where emotion clashes with logic, portrayed through the journey of Zara, a character who embodies determination and emotional depth.

Urja Joshi weaves a tapestry of raw emotions, capturing the essence of despair, anxiety, and heartache, while also illuminating the path to joy, growth, and love. Each poem serves as a poignant reflection of Zara's experiences, illustrating her inner turmoil😕 as she grapples with betrayal and the shadows of depression.

One of the standout lines that resonated with me reads:
     "I hope
That you are not
    Willing
To settle for someone
    Who calls you
         Sunshine
    When you are
        Literally
   The sun☀️ itself."
This encapsulates the essence of self-worth and the importance of recognizing one's true value, a recurring theme throughout the collection.

Each poem is accompanied by beautiful illustrations🖼️ that enhance the emotional impact and provide a visual representation of the themes explored. Urja Joshi masterfully captures the raw essence of human experience in its most relatable form. 3:40 AM From Heart to Head takes readers through the late‑night turmoil of Zara, a character navigating intense inner conflict. Set during the vulnerable hour of 3:40 a.m., it poetically illustrates the tug‑of‑war between feeling and thinking—between heartbreak and reason. The collection is thoughtfully divided into three sections—Heart, Head, and Soul—mirroring a progression from emotional chaos to mental clarity, and finally to personal healing through introspection. The emotional path is raw and relatable: the verses move from grief, panic, and betrayal to self-discovery, acceptance, and hope. Zara’s feelings feel authentic—trapped one moment in despair, the next reaching for resilience—as the poems draw the reader into the roller‑coaster of human experience.

This opening section plunges us straight into Zara's emotional core, where late-night vulnerability is raw and visceral. The poems dwell on sorrow, longing, betrayal, and the overwhelming ache of an open heart. Lines are fragmented and breathless, capturing the quiet suffering of heartbreak and the lingering pain of loss, as Zara grapples with deeply felt but unspoken emotions. Switching gears, Head brings a sharp, internalized shift—Zara’s thought patterns take control. The voice becomes analytical, repetitive, and at times claustrophobic. Short stanzas loop in anxious cycles, reflecting obsessive questioning, obsessive problem-solving, and that relentless chatter we experience when we overthink in the darkest hours.

The final section (Soul) includes two deeply personal diary letters from the author. These conclude the narrative with sincerity and guidance, modeling self‑love and inner strength. This ending is a kinda off therapeutic—and a powerful invitation to engage in one’s own emotional journey. Joshi’s free‑verse, minimalist approach delivers maximum impact with minimal embellishment. The language is direct yet poetic—a perfect match for the late‑night introspection it portrays. Each line resonates with clarity, making the reading experience both immediate and intimate.

In conclusion it stands out for its raw honesty, structured emotional progression, and heartfelt conclusion. It is a soulful, emotionally honest collection that captures the midnight battle between heart and mind. It’s a compelling companion for readers seeking poetic clarity during their own moments of vulnerability—and a testament to the transformative power of raw, authentic poetry. As a piece of contemporary poetry, it stands out for its unfiltered honesty, thematic structure, and capacity to resonate on a deeply personal level.

“𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳, 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬.”

That’s exactly where this book finds its voice. Before anything else, let me say, 3:40 AM isn’t just a title, it’s a feeling. It’s that fragile, in-between hour when the world is asleep, and you’re left alone with your loudest thoughts. The author captures this delicate hour with astonishing honesty, when the world pauses and your emotions pour out, unfiltered.

Told through the lens of Zara, a fearless and fiercely honest protagonist, the book journeys through the emotional maze of heartache, anxiety, longing, growth, and self-love. Split into three thoughtful sections- Heart, Head, and Soul, each part feels like peeling back a layer of your own mind. The “Soul” section, with its diary-style letters, felt particularly personal and quietly powerful.

What makes this book even more special is that it doesn’t shout; it whispers the kind of truths we often hide even from ourselves. It doesn’t follow a dramatic plot, but rather lives in the subtle rhythm of thoughts we all carry. It’s poetry, yes, but more like quiet confessions scribbled at dawn.

And then there are the illustrations, minimal yet meaningful, they don’t just accompany the words; they speak their own gentle language, adding depth and grace to every page.

This is more than a book, it’s a companion for your quietest nights. A must-read for anyone who’s ever searched for clarity in chaos, or solace in words.

Before everything else, I must mention how personally significant the time 3:40 AM is to me. It's that hour of the night when the world is quietest, and you are loudest inside your own head. Urja Joshi captures this time so truthfully--the most vulnerable, introspective mysterious, poetic, and honest hour of the day, as she calls it. It's also a time that can feel depressingly lonely and terrifying, a theme the book gently but powerfully reflects. One of the things that struck me most was the artistic expression of emotions through doodles. As a
doodle enthusiast myself, I found them
incredibly meaningful-they didn't just
decorate the book, they spoke the unsaid,
added a new layer of emotional texture, and complemented the narrative in a way words alone couldn't. This book isn't extraordinary in the conventional sense-it doesn't boast a grand plot or dramatic turns. But that's precisely its magic. It speaks of the everyday thoughts, the quiet battles, the longing healing, and small emotional victories that we all experience but rarely articulate. That's what makes it so relatable, captivating, and deeply comforting.

'What is love, If not chosen insanely.'

'3:40 AM From Heart To Head' by Urja Joshi is written as a narration by Zara, a determined, courageous woman, who is equally emotional. I related very much with the book, because maybe I'm someone like Zara- the union of logic and emotion. The book is written like the constant dilemma between the heart (emotions) and the mind (logic).

The major themes of the poems are heartache, betrayal, anxiety, hope, and finally rediscovery. The poems are honest and relatable, written in simple and poetic words. The book is divided into three parts- Heart (grief), Head (acceptance) and Soul (letters from the dairy). There are poems in the book that affected me deeply and helped me introspect the various parts of life. The book ends with two letters, which felt very personal.

Last but not the least, what can I say about the beautiful doodles along with the poems! They are so pretty and bring the poems to life. I can't even begin to explain how much I liked reading the book more due to these little doodles. I appreciate the young poetess, she's so talented!

3:40 A.M.: From Heart to Head is a soulful collection of poetic snippets that beautifully capture the constant battle between the heart and the mind. Told from the perspective of Zara, a bold and fearless woman, the book explores deep emotions we all experience at some point in life.

The title itself "3:40 A.M." represents the most vulnerable and honest moment of the day, when thoughts feel raw and real. The book takes readers on an emotional journey, from feelings of desperation, emptiness, anxiety, and betrayal to moments of letting go, love, joy, self-acceptance, and hope.

This book is a unique read, especially great for poetry beginners who want something expressive yet easy to grasp. The illustrations are beautifully done, adding an extra layer of emotion to the words. The physical book itself has a premium and aesthetic feel, making the reading experience even more special.

Overall, it’s a touching and relatable collection that stays with you long after you finish it.

3:40 AM: From Heart to Head is an intimate portrayal of emotional resilience and self-reflection, told through the lens of Zara, a bold yet vulnerable narrator navigating her way through heartbreak, self-doubt, and rediscovery. Urja Joshi captures the haunting silence of early dawn—when the world sleeps but your thoughts scream—with profound honesty and simplicity. The book gracefully weaves poetic snippets, journal-style reflections, and raw inner dialogues, making it a therapeutic read for anyone in the midst of emotional chaos. The accompanying doodles aren’t mere illustrations; they are extensions of Zara’s feelings—delicate, expressive, and powerful in their stillness. This book doesn't promise a dramatic resolution, but rather offers a gentle nudge towards healing, one tiny step at a time. Its charm lies in its relatability, its quiet strength, and the comfort it offers like a late-night conversation with yourself. A beautiful, cathartic read for the soul.

I recently read 3:40 AM: From Heart to Head and I have to say, it really hooked me. The book is a collection of poems and thoughts but it feels more like a personal conversation between your emotions and your logic. It dives deep into the quiet thoughts we often have late at night, especially during that overthinking hours.

The main voice in the book is Zara and through her author takes us through a rollercoaster of feelings like heartbreak, confusion, love, self-doubt, healing and self-love. What I really liked is how the book is divided into three parts ie Heart, Head and Soul. Each section felt like a step forward in a personal journey.

One of my favorite things was the Soul section at the end as it includes letters from the author’s own diary and they felt so honest and relatable. The writing is simple but powerful, and there are some beautiful illustrations inside that make the experience even more special. Highly Recommended

Cue this, you have undergone a hard task to move past a challenge which broke you to your core where external factors were superlative pushing you to lonely depths, but then there is the pain, heart is wailing with it, but head is trying to be protective to ward off by building walls which are creating even more havoc in your system. Will you ever be able to move past this ?

Well, I know it can be really daunting as I have been there, but then maybe seeing the struggle you are going through on the paper of a journey of healing the heart, followed by head and soul, might make it a bit easier for you, to process it to move forward. This book follows it, narrated by a character who has decided to be free and starts to bear it all in raw but real words, but then slowly slowly inch by inch starts to move bit by bit.

And yes, it covers spiralling, of going back to your choices. I know we all feel the need to rehash it to maybe change it, because I have been there, and I still do at some moments. This book found me a spot of relief when things were starting to get to me again, despite the awareness of where I am spiralling to, but pain won't go anywhere unless we release it, right?

I can go on and on, but I loved reading it. This book is very fluid, varying from thoughts, meanderings in poetry, to journal entries to let it flow, that I couldn't stop reading it. It felt cathartic at the end that I have come a long way, so maybe taking one more tiny step will make all the difference *wink*

Book Recommendation - Hell Yeah, even if you need a reprieve as things are getting overwhelming,

Through Zara’s honest and fearless voice, the book takes you on a deeply relatable journey between logic and emotion, tackling heartbreak, confusion, hope, and healing in a way that feels real, simple, and powerful.

If you’ve ever been up late wrestling with your thoughts and emotions, this book will feel like a comforting, honest companion you didn’t know you needed.
