I was seriously enjoying the MC and the writing style... and then I got to the Harry Potter reference. In 2024 it's no longer acceptable to me when a queer book includes free advertising for the world's most prominent spewer of anti-trans hate. An author can have whatever personal relationship to the HP books and that's fine; it can mean something to you in your heart and you're not hurting anybody. But every positive/uncritical HP reference I run across in a book makes me think "does this person not know that JKR is a vicious transphobe or do they not care?" Throws me completely out of the story. DNF.

This was such a incredible read!

Autumn and Lexi both ended up stuck in an Airport bathroom after a terrible earthquake. Autumn knows who Lexi is because she is her biggest fan and Lexi doesn't know anything about Autumn...yet!? They both start asking questions (to get to know each other more personally) and gave to answer truthfully. They both have a somewhat understanding of what the other person might be going through and they give each other advices especially when it comes to grief. And to strive for a better future.

I don't think I have related to a book more than I did with this one! Mental health is a big topic throughout this book and I related to both Autumn and Lexi so much! (Minus the addy issues!) This was a really great new adult novel. It's short but gets the point across where you connect with the characters and their struggles. This book also shows that characters can have more than one flaw. It's okay to about problems and important to reach out.

I was honored to receive and ARC and give an honest review. Thank you Jasmine Dade!

To people who think they can get together with their celebrity crush and those who want to find love at the airport, here is your dose of delusional pill

First off, thank you, Jasmine @jasmines.writing.corner for giving me the opportunity of reviewing this ARC and being a part of your street team.

This debut novel was the absolute cutest. The playful and flirty banter between Lexi and Autumn is unmatched! The chapter titles are powerful and perfectly named. Autumn and Lexi's love story was absolutely adorable, which Jasmine Dade still managed to cover the heavy topics of mental health, grief and difficult and toxic family relationships brilliantly and realistically.

There were so many quotes I loved but here are a few of my favorites:

"Life is way too fucking short to spend it focusing on the things that bring you pain."

"Music gives us something to relate to when talking to another person just isn't enough."

"Grief is not the same for everyone."

Thank you Jasmine for the ARC! I'm so excited for you to finally publish this <3

Aftershock is a cute and heartfelt debut with important mental health discussions and an absolutely sweet romance. I'll admit some of the pop culture references flew over my head but it didn't make the book any less beautiful to read! If you like celebrity romances, mental health discussions and aren't huge on smut this is perfect for you!

A lovely, heartfelt debut from Jasmine with characters I cared about and felt for. Also - don't we all wish we could get trapped in a bathroom with our celebrity crush? What a concept!

The pop culture references were so suited to my own likes, and a section about a past friend to boyfriend also got me in the feels!

The complex family relationships and mental health issues were all written so well and sensitively, and I laughed at the pastor's reactions at the end. I also adored the epilogue.

Well done Jasmine - great job getting your words out into the world!

This is by far one of the cutest romance novels. When I go for a romance book I typically go for a more smutty book. But this one really made me look within myself and made me realize that I am beautiful no matter what. I absolutely loved this book and I think you should give it a try.

Where can I start? I thought that the writting was pretty good and it kept me on reading for a while, but not through all the book, but there were other factors that influenced why I dnf this book.

Starting with the positives, writing was good and the topics of grief and mental health were well approched until a certain level. I think it was easy to understand what each character was going through and the way they opened up with each other without making the topics feel really heavy and hard to read.

But it didn't make sense at the same time. The characters just met, under a special condition, and them opening up so deeply was weird, in my opinion. I would have never talked so much about personal issues with someone that I've never met in my life, even if one of them knew the other one (since one is a celebrity), but still. That was what put me off and I only got up to 50% of the book until I decided to give up because it started to feel way to unrealistic. There was no build up of the relationship and/or world building.

Thank you to Jasmine Dade for sending me an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Review was late because of health issues.

Aftershock was an adorable and at times heartbreaking story.

This was a beautiful story of acceptance of your past and all the hardships that brought you to where, and who, you are now. Heartbreak can be absolutely beautiful in the Aftershock.

Sometimes losing someone is the best thing for us, and we have to be angry to understand we're stronger because of not having the person we thought should have been there the most.

Grief, depression, anger, sadness, acceptance... It looks different for each and every person. Healing is beautiful no matter who you are.

Especially if you're healing with your celebrity crush! 😍

First book from this Author. A bit too hallmark rom/com for me. Started out promising until the pair of funny bodyguards + flight attendants appeared. Plot was unrealistic a few times, however it is a cute, light and easy read.

This book was honestly amazing. The story flowed naturally and didn’t feel rushed, there were no random scenes that made you question if they were just trying to fill in some spaces. You can truly tell that she put her heart into this, the way it made me feel so seen and validated in emotions I’ve been dealing with for years. This is the authors first publication it was beautiful, I’m so excited to see how she grows and develops new creations. I don’t read many present time books, but man did this just make my heart skip 10 beats (not to mention I read it in a day). Hopefully we’ll get another book sometime soon
