Mind Over Gray Matter

Rate this book
When Adam Rich takes a shortcut between classes, he has no reason to think the path between two buildings would change his perception on reality and indeed his entire life. Seeing a stranger floating in the air, and the two weeks which follow, stretches the limits of everything the college student ever thought possible.
Caught between a web of innocent lies he feels forced to tell his girlfriend and the ageless mentor unlocking fantastical abilities only told of in lore and fantasy, what Adam Rich discovers is his life spiraling down a pit of isolation and fear.
While the mysterious stranger claims to be bored of life and ready for his new apprentice to finally be the one to replace him, can Adam's new perspective give him the will to unlock boundless opportunities or will the encounter instead unleash an as of yet unimagined new horror.

This book has some deep and intriguing dialogue, mostly between the main character and the mercurial antagonist, and an original premise that kept me turning the pages. For my own tastes, it does rather take its time cutting to the chase and could benefit from a more clinical edit, but the central mystery and the author’s sheer imaginativeness go a long way to making up for that
