Before the heir to the throne of Rajpur can become the emir, the law states that he must shift into his wolf in front of the sixteen assembly members, something Kamir has never been able to do.
Not that Kamir ever expected to live long enough to see this day. Despised by his father for his compassion and desire to bring peace to their land, he knew that the moment another son was born to replace him, he would forfeit his life. But suddenly Kamir's father, a bully both at home and abroad, dies fighting a losing war before that could happen.
Needing to protect Rajpur from his tyrannical uncle, even if it means his own death, Kamir attends the pre-coronation ceremony. Enduring a gluttonous feast of food, wine, and pleasure-slaves when his people are starving only cements how important it is that Kamir shifts so he can be crowned.
Tsaria was sold by his father to a brothel when was ten years old. Now nine years later, he must gain the interest of the emir, or risk being sold at the Market of Lost Souls. He will be forced to take fever white until he becomes addicted and then he won’t care what he has to do to get his next fix. Tsaria would rather die.
Neither man expects a miracle. One expects to die, and the other prefers to. But it isn’t a wolf that saves them both that day.
Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.
She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.
And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.
One man who does not wish to be a ruler, another who is sold into slavery. A kingdom that is in need of a just ruler. Together they will become just what the kingdom needs.
A story of twists, turns and unexpected revelations, this is a gripping read from the first chapter. Kamir and Tsair were both suffering in their own ways but together they find the strength to overcome the obstacles in their path and fulfil the destiny meant for them.
I really enjoyed Kamir and Tsaria story! It was sad and difficult in places, and there was a lot of danger, intrigue, and learning to trust. However the characters were interesting and varied and the ending happy!
While you don’t have to read book one, I highly recommend it as this book will spoil aspects from that one.
There were a few editing errors (wrong names being used) that took me out of the story, but it was minor.
I really liked it. It feels like forever since I read the omega thief, but it's one of those good books that remain in my memory so getting to this one wasn't hard. And I enjoyed Kamir then and I like him even better now, trying to make his kingdom a better place than what his family can make it be. And dragons. That is always neat
I wanted to like this book. I was excited after the first book for all the fun world building and interesting characters that the first book was filled with. While the story itself was intriguing and fun, I found the characters were confusing and sometimes unlikeable. But what bothered me the most was the drama after drama after drama. By 70% of the book I was exhausted and confused.
Kamir and Tsaria have a fun beginning. The whole surprise of Kamir’s transformation was really well done. But the aftermath was disturbing and so quick, I found myself almost disassociating from it all. Suddenly we were in a different place with drama after drama, and instead of any kind of reprieve, we got miscommunication and a heaping pile of distrust.
Tsaria’s wearyness was and distrust was understandable, but I never found myself really connecting to his character or sympathizing. Maybe if his character had made some moves to protect his mental health, or maybe if his distrust wasn’t combined with the Miscommunication, then maybe I would have felt better about this book.
This is the second book in the series Wolves of the Five Kingdoms. The first second does not need to be read to understand this book, but all the little details and most of characters are best appreciated if you do. The majority of the characters, including the MC of this book, are introduced in the first book, The Omega Thief. It is now Kamir's turn to try to save his Kingdom, a kingdom he never wanted to rule. But rules and traditions must be obeyed and his evil uncle should not be allowed to become ruler. But then life throws him a twist in the form of his mate, a slave named Tsaria. Tsaria has only known cruelty and unhappiness, making him distrust anything promising hope for a better life. Not realizing the one promising him that hope also has intimate knowledge of cruelty, heartache, and pain. Kamir and Tsaria's journey to their HEA made me cry and scream in anger, frustration, and heartache then in happiness, encouragement, and satisfaction (karma is sweet), taking me on an emotional roller coaster ride. It also had me at the edge of my seat in suspense, unable to put the book down, needing to know what will happen next. Especially when new enemies were introduced, making it even more riveting. The twists and turns, action, humor, steam, angst, and sweet/tender moments were all perfectly interwoven. The secondary characters were also fully developed and intriguing, adding much to story, which made me really want their stories, lol. So hoping there's another book coming soon, don't matter whose, as long as I get to revisit this phenomenal world.
I truly loved the first book in this series, The Omega Thief, but I think Victoria Sue has outdone herself with The Omega Slave. She knows how to put her MCs through the wringer, break my heart, and put it all back together again.
I can’t tell you how many times I was holding my breath while I read this story. I was on pins and needles for much of it. Tsaria didn’t deserve all of the bad things that happened to him but they brought him to Kamir. The two of them together fight for the changes that Kamir wants to make happen in Rajpur.
This story is full of twists and turns, with more than a few surprises. I can’t wait to see what Victoria Sue has coming up next in this amazing series. 💖
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Victoria Sue has created a marvelous world of five kingdoms where she is setting these stories. In this one she brings together the unlikely duo of a prince called Kamir and a pleasure slave called Tsaria. This was a very emotional story and is written with Victoria Sue’s usual imaginative style. This story actually made me laugh out loud and cry in different parts and made me feel great about the tale when it was done. I love the dynamic between the two main characters and the ups and downs that they go through as they try to save their country from various predators of the political type. We get to see characters from the first book and characters that I hope to see in future books. Another definite win in the writing of Ms Sue.
Kamir has his hand forced to fight for a kingdom and throne he never wanted. Tsaria has suffered a lifetime of abuse. Fate has a plan for them both, and they will need each other in order to survive. Their relationship was hard fought for and so very much deserved. There's lots of twists and turns, betryals, fast-paced action, danger, and political machinations. There's also many moments of joy, laughter, and sweetness between these two men who absolutely deserve everything good, especially each other.
This book is action-packed and full of intrigue, betrayal, and deceit. In the midst of that, a beautiful love emerges between mates, Kamir, an royal who doesn't want the position, and Tsaria, a pleasure slave. The book doesn't hold back on the brutality of conditions for orphans, slaves, and the poor. Kamir must shift to assume the Emir position and help protect his kingdom from his cruel uncle and cousins. When he first sees Tsaria, it triggers his shift. This book is rich in detail and has a deep love that also heals and saves. Very enjoyable!
He was meant to shift into his wolf years ago. Instead, he waited — the transformation never came. Now, on the day of his coronation, under the eyes of his kingdom and the weight of ancient prophecy, he shifts not into a wolf… but a dragon.
Magic surges. Panic spreads. What was supposed to be a celebration becomes a moment of exile, suspicion, and self-doubt.
As secrets unravel and family out to destroy and betrayal
Will they find each other in time… or will it all be lost to the sand?
Starts with a bang, and the surprises keep on coming!
Is there hope for a reluctant Prince who finds his bonded mate to be a common pleasure slave? Victoria Sue doesn’t disappoint, in this tale, with twists and turns at the most unexpected places… are the good guys good really? and are the bad guys bad? I tell you, the book will keep you reading as the plots become thicker and twists twistier… best read in order, the “wolves of the five kingdoms” series doesn’t disappoint! Now on to book number 3!
The blurb is not wrong! There are so many twists and turns that caught me by surprise. Kamir is a lovely man with a big heart trying to help his people. Tsaria is a pleasure slave since age 10. There is miscommunication as both have been hurt, Tsaria so much. Help from friends and a Dragon finally get lead to a hea both men deserve but it’s hell getting there.
This second installment has many violent scenes, both on and off the page, with deceit, murderous conflicts, misunderstood characters and a constant low level of insecurity and self doubt from the MCs. It ends well, with a promise for a better future but there was a significant struggle to arrive.
Tsaria and Kamir were absolutely wonderful characters. They both had to deal with their own trauma filled lives before fate brought them together. I love every visit to the Five Kingdoms and their journey was not different. I can't wait to go back.
Here be dragons!!! What a great story. My heart was breaking for both Kamir and Tsaria throughout this book. You should definitely have tissues on hand for certain parts. This us a perfect complement to The Omega Thief.
I enjoyed this book just as much as I did the first one in the series. My only nitpick is I think the love story aspect was a bit lacking. Overall, it was a really good read.
Wow! What can I say? This story was absolutely enthralling and captivating. The story was full of drama and intrigue and espionage. Tsaria is a pleasure slave who was sold into slavery by his father and he learned to adapt to his life as he knew it, but he knew that it would soon be time where he would be fighting for his life, that is, until he was taken to the palace to be chosen by the emir as his pleasure slave. What he didn’t know was that day his life would change drastically, he would learn his true heritage. Kamir did not want to rule and wish that his sister was able to become the Emir in his stead, but knew that women were not allowed to have that role. He knew that unless he could get his to appear, he would lose his life, but it was meeting Tsaria That his dragon appeared, wicked, set a trap, and Tsaria was imprisoned in the dungeon and Kamir was locked down in the palace. This is where all the excitement happened and there was a lot involved in Kamir trying to get his kingdom back, but he always had his trusted servant with him and now his bond mate, Tsaria. I really enjoyed this book and I couldn’t put it down until the last page but I still want more.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
