I have read every single book in the Matti Baker Thriller/AESOP series, and they have ALL surpassed my expectations. Matti Baker is more than a fierce protagonist. She is relentless in her fight to protect her family and her country. She is demanding of everyone around her, but her spirit pulls the best out of the people around her. Even with her smart-ass attitude and drive to serve and protect she has an unlimited amount of love for God, her family, friends and for what is right.
Michele Packard can pull from history and current events that run parallel to the story line which will make you ask yourself – ‘What if this really happened?’ or ‘Is this true?’ Each action sequence and/or location is immersive, and the reader is able to see through Matti’s eyes what is happening. I love that this story is told from Matti’s perspective. She tells her story to the reader directly – especially while using her little side comments. (Perfect)
The author integrates songs and movies that we all grew up with perfectly into the storyline. This makes it easy to imagine exactly what the protagonist sees and what she is doing and, in my opinion, makes it personal. Matti says out loud what most of us are thinking. (maybe that’s just me.. but I said it so who cares) This last installment focuses on the power of AI and its ability to arm the world. With what? It’s limitless. All the agencies that are in place to protect us seem to lose track of the bigger picture. Is it greed and money keeping them from their job, is it bureaucratic red tape or willful ignorance?
In a world on the brink of chaos, Matti stands at the crossroads of family and destiny, caught in a pulse-pounding journey to confront insurmountable odds. Every step she takes brings her closer to a monumental struggle—one that will demand everything she has. As she fights against overwhelming forces, the weight of justice rests heavily on her shoulders, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Don’t miss Baker. Fans of the series know what to expect when it comes to a Matti Baker series. There’s action, twists, political intrigue, social commentary, sass, and delightful quirkiness. This book has it all and then some!
Once again, Matti finds herself in the crosshairs of America’s enemies. With her family and trusty team, she risks everything to eliminate those hunting her and plotting to destroy the USA as we know it. In trademark fashion, she does this in style and with the insightful wit we’ve all come to know and love.
This was a fantastic addition to the series and those last few chapters tore my nerves to shreds. Fast paced, fun, with some brutal twists. Enjoy!

I happily received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
This is the conclusion to the very well written Matti Baker series. The series is an exciting thriller that will leave you captivated and hooked!
I love the Matti Baker series, and the strong, witty, and intelligent main character, Matti Baker. Matti is a powerful force of nature. You don’t want to underestimate her prowess or her love for her family and closest allies. She is also funny and is always one step ahead of those who wish to cause her harm. She is a realistic yet unearthly, strong female character who is all business yet all heart! The supporting characters in this series are also written well, complement Matti, and are interesting as well as complex.
If you love action, political theatre, conspiracy theories ( that just might end up being factual) , suspense, and a true thrill ride then this novel is for you. There is never a dull moment in this book. There are also references to sensational musical lyrics and current events that line up with the story.
This is the last book in this amazing saga, and the ending has a shocking surprise! Don’t miss it or the rest of the series. You can read this novel as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the entire series. You won’t be disappointed!

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story begins with Matti being interrogated after being captured. It then shifts to yhe period prior to her capture. Matti and her family as well as those that work with her are being hunted by an unknown party. To try and make sure of their safety, they are spread out in many groups. Matti and her own crew are moving from place to place to try and stay hidden. Once they discover that they might have been found, they move to another location. Eventually each group appears to be disappearing leaving on Matti's contingent and her brother David. Matti makes the decision to save David and his family before they can be taken. The rescue works, but they run into a problem as they try to leave.
Discover who is hunting Matti and her people, what situations are discovered that forces Matti's departure each time, How Matti makes out from her capture in addition to how it all ended. This is one you don't want to miss.
This is definitely a fitting conclusion to the series!

I hope that this author changes her mind and someday gives us more of Matti. There is no one that provides a more vivid picture of someone than Michele Packard as in this quote, "I wasn't sure what I was looking at as she got out of the car--some dirty, emaciated-looking, f'ed up, meth head with any clothes in a man's jacket ten times too big, with eyes going in different directions, black greasy hair with some serious bad roots, and speaking in some foreign tongue.
God hates me.'
Not only is Packard the queen of fabulous descriptions, but after sending the reader on some butt-clenching rollercoaster ride, she gives us pages of facts to back up the hell she's just created. Drugs, money, corruption, conspiracies...it doesn't quit.
Baker has been a fabulous finale to the series, though I wish this wasn't the end. I'll definitely keep this writer in mind because who knows what she'll come up with next!

Big Pharma and Big Government are closing in on the team Big Time. They think they have Matti Baker right where they want her—but bringing down this kick-ass, special ops, soccer mom is going to take more fire power than they bargained for. I truly didn’t see the twist coming, and it’s a doozy. Packard’s ability to mix conspiracy theory with current events will leave you on the edge of your seat and wondering—is this really happening somewhere right now? I’ve loved every book in this heart-racing series. Baker is no exception. The scrapes Matti finds herself in left me breathless for what was going to happen next. I read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Do yourself a favor and Read. This. Book.

As with the other books in her Matti Baker series, Packard left me equally entertained and unnerved in her nail-biting series finale, Baker. She infused each book with eerily plausible scenarios of corruption and manipulation, balancing them beautifully with witty sarcasm, humor, and a cast of characters you can’t help but root for. I’m sad to see the end of this series, but am left fully satisfied.

Enjoyed this fast-paced hi-tech thriller dotted with pop-culture and rock references, filled with wit and humor, and led by a charming but strong female protagonist. First favorite quote of many: “And you may want to revisit the Second Amendment. If you have to look that up, revisit natural selection too.” Or this brilliant line from a son trying to get his mother to wake up after she’s been unconscious: “Momma, wake up. I met someone online that I want you to meet.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this action-packed thriller but do wish I'd started reading with Book 1 of the series so I'd understand more about Matti's background. Lots of great characters!
