This is a fun little book for a younger reader.

The story has a good progression where the character has to overcome obstacles (literally) in search of respect and friendship. There are a lot of distinct characters and the illustrations give a sense of the story without being too distracting.

I did feel all the marine related terms and especially the food types might confuse some of the target audience and take them away from the story.

I enjoyed reading this and the message it provides. It also can easily be read as a stand alone rather than part of a series.

About the book:
There going on a school trip and Rick and donny make fun of Harry on the school trip and they have a race and he got a big medal and made friends with Tony.

My favourite part:
When he made friends with Tony because it’s what Harry wanted.

What could of been better:
If Tony thought Harry was a silly hammerhead.

Ocean, Davy A Fin-tastic Finish (Shark School #5) 139 pgs. Aladdin, 2014 $5.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G

Harry Hammer is a big fan of the Olimpet gold medal winner Tiger shark Turbo Tex, the fasted shark in the ocean. Turns out his summer camp has a competition theme and there is even a Tiger Shark his own age there. Harry is determined to make friends with Tony and learn some fast swimming moves. But Tony just ignores him and nothing goes as planned. Features illustrations on almost every page.
I think this was a great read that young readers will enjoy its humor and especially its shark theme. The cover is appealing as well. Perfect for 2-3 graders looking for a tiny step up from an easy chapter book. This was my first time with this series and this was book 5, but it could function as a stand alone, which was nice for me and easier for readers in the lower grades who don’t understand what a series means or bother to look for the book number.
