“LA NOTTE DI SAN SILVESTRO” è un romanzo di facile lettura, scorrevole e veloce (ho impiegato solo un giorno), che però non mi ha particolarmente entusiasmato.
Margaret St. George racconta le vicissitudini di Bailey e Cole, che si incontrano per la prima volta la sera del 31 dicembre 1979 e instaurano una profonda amicizia sotto il segno dell’oroscopo per il nuovo anno. Così nasce per loro una tradizione da portare avanti nel tempo, a prescindere dagli eventi, felici o meno, che vedono i protagonisti rispettivamente gioire o disperarsi, appoggiandosi l’uno all’altra, finché il 31 dicembre 1992 cambierà tutto…

Bailey e Cole vanno avanti per tutto il libro con i tira e molla da parte di lei. capitoli dove si scambiano mail intervallati da capitoli dove si festeggiano il capodanno nell'arco di 10 anni. Il loro amore nasce la sera dell'ultimo dell'anno quando Cole va a prendere Bailey (amica della fidanzata) sotto una bufera ma non succede niente per il rispetto di Pam, quindi decidono di rimanere amici e da qui nasce un lunghissimo tira e molla. Non lo consiglio assolutamente lo avrei mollato se non cerco sempre di portar a termine le letture.
