I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of a wrestler and a gymnast, and also a fur momma to Phoebe, Gaston el Papillon & Winston.
You can usually find me hollering for the whole Nashville Predators since I'll never give my heart to one player again. When I'm not in the gym getting swole, I'm usually writing, trying to make my dreams a reality or being a taxi for my kids. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, Supernatural, Disney and anything that sparkles! I'm pretty sure I was Belle in a past life and if I could be on any show it would be supernatural so I can hunt with Sam and Dean.
Seduced by the Game is a collection of eight hockey novellas. Proceeds support the fight against cancer. I received this book as an ARC, but you bet I went out and purchased it anyway. Supporting this particular disease is important to me. I lost one of the most important people in my life to Cancer, so this is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.

Anthologies are so difficult for me to review, so I am going to spotlight my favorite novella of the book, Tangled in the Laces by Toni Aleo.
Tangled in the Laces is set up as a prequel for the sixth Assasin’s book due out in late 2014/early 2015, Laces and Lace.
This novella killed me! After reading, I just wanted more... how could you end it that way Toni??? This was a beautiful story. Karson and Lacey were a great couple. I don’t want to spoil it but... Gah! I need their book asap! Please release early ;)
This anthology was full of steam, sports and romance. I enjoyed most of the novellas. A few five stars, several 4’s and 3’s so I will round to a 4 star rating. Definitely worth picking it up- plus, as mentioned before it’s a great cause!!!
*ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review
This book is for a great cause - Support the fight against cancer!

Seduced by the Game is a collaboration of authors who love the game of hockey, a little sexy times, and have a lot of passion.
I found this book through my fangirling worship of Toni Aleo! Ms Aleo is one hell of a writer, one hell of a lady, and she loves hockey (even if her team just creamed my team the other night! *04.12.14* LOL). I also really like the couple of the hockey books that Nikki Worrell has written. She has some great stories out that that y'all need to check out!
Hopefully you will enjoy this book like I did... and meet some new authors along the way.
And let's remember - everyone is fighting a battle we might not see! Support the FIGHT
While I received an ARC of this anthology, I actually have since gone back and purchased myself a copy. How can you not? Not only do you get a combination of fantastic authors, but you get to support an amazing cause.
I originally wanted to get my hands on this book since I'm a big fan of Toni Aleo and Bianca Sommerland, but have since discovered a few new to me authors that I'll be adding to my TBR as well. Though their novellas were my 2 favorites in the book.
Toni Aleo-TANGLED IN THE LACES (Prequel for Laces and Lace), 5 stars I am fully convinced that Toni Aleo is a sadist. Why else would she give us this AMAZING prequel novella, only to make us wait until 2015 for the book?! I may have cried and raged when I finished it, but wow. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of inta-love or insta-anything, and the fact that Miss Aleo not only made me completely fall for both the characters, the story, and truly believe in their quick connection says a whole hell of a lot. I may be dying a slow death each day in my wait for the book to follow the story of Lacey and Karson, but damn if I can't tell you it wasn't worth it.
Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr HOOKING HANNAH, 3.5 stars This was a light and steamy read. No angst, no overwhelming emotions, just 2 people finding love. It was cute and steamy though nothing I haven't read before.
Jami Davenport CRASHING THE BOARDS (Seattle Sockeyes 1.5), 4.5 stars stars Jami was a new to me author that I will now be adding to my TBR. I really enjoyed the story of Izzy and Cooper. I love reading about confident and take-no-shit type of women, and Izzy was certainly that. Cooper was deliciously sexy, and the novella packed a steamy little punch.
Catherine Gayle TAKING A SHOT (Portland Storm 2.5), 5 stars This was not quite a romance, but an incredibly beautiful and touching story. And it deserves 5 stars just for bring a tear to my eyes while reading. Incredibly moving and beautifully written.
Jaymee Jacobs A VALUABLE TRADE, 3 stars This was a cute and steamy little novella, but unfortunately just not one I really connected to.
V.L. Locey HEIR APPARENT, 2.5 stars As big of a fan as I am of MM romance, I hate to admit this was probably my least favorite in the book. The terminology was very odd and slightly off-putting at times (assgoblin? Frottage?). I kept forgetting that this was supposed to be based in US with some of the odd phrasing that was used. The younger character talked like a surfer boy at times, and I just never really found myself connecting to the story.
Bianca Sommerland BLIND PASS (The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5) I've always been curious about Tim's story and I finally got it in this book. If you're not familiar with Bianca's writing, she's able to combine erotic (menage and BDSM) elements while having her stories be incredibly emotionally charged. I think that's my favorite part about her Dartmouth Cobras series. This was more of her toned down books, but if you're a fan of BDSM menage, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the rest of this series. The woman can write one hell of a MMF scene, or a MFM, or a MFMM...well you get the idea.
**ARC given to Dirty Girl Romance in exchange for an honest review**
Seduced by the Game had a taste of old and new for me. I was familiar with some of the authors and even followed a couple of their hockey series but even the unfamiliar ones stood out after reading them as well.
I thought that I'd be completely lost by trying to read anthologies from series that I had never read but it didn't prove to be a problem at all.
It's like how the author, Nikki Worrell, had pointed out to me: each story was based to be standalones so readers shouldn't feel any grievance to backtrack or familiarize themselves in all of these book installments.
I liked how each story was unique and had a different feel to it. Sometimes it was funny, sometimes it included a lot of angst, hardships, and even happiness. But most of all, it was eye opening and heart warming.
This book has everything from love, faith, perseverance, suspense, homosexuality, choices, and just life in general.
I feel very blessed to have been invited to this blog tour (by Nikki) and to be exposed to these other talented authors. I had been stalking Nikki and even Toni Aleo's goodreads and facebook accounts for a long period so when I got asked to participate in the release blitz and tour I jumped on it right away!
Trust me guys. You won't regret purchasing this. Not only does it contain great authors and their stories but all proceeds go to the fight against cancer!! Please pick this book up and help us take a stand as about 8 million people lose the battle and die from it each year worldwide (statistic ref. HERE)!!
I never rate my own books, but this goes beyond me and I'm so grateful to the other authors involved. Quality and dedication to the cause. Pretty damn awesome, each and every one!
I was so excited to get an Arc copy of this book!! I read it as quickly as I could and it seemed to take over my life while I was reading it!
Tangled in the Laces by Toni Aleo(Prequel to Laces and Lace)
“Nothing ever distracted him but this girl had the power to.” -Toni Aleo, Tangled in the Laces
Karson King has always known that he would follow his father’s footsteps and enter the NHL. But his mother wanted him to make sure that hockey is what he wanted which is why he and his sister are in Chicago, attending university and playing hockey, of course. But when Karson spots Lacey at his practice he knows she’s the one that is meant to be his. Lacey has managed to survive a fight with cancer, unfortunately having a double mastectomy in order to do so. She knows that she’s not the one for Karson and is scared to try. When she finally takes a chance on him, she finds that they’re perfect for each other, and so in love. But Lacey’s brother and father are not happy with the relationship and who knows the lengths they will go to in order to protect their sister and daughter.
I’ve really enjoyed the Assassins’ series so when I found out that Toni Aleo was writing a short story for this anthology it just made me even more excited for it! But then when I read this, I just couldn’t help but giggle and sigh, and wish that Karson was mine. Once more Toni Aleo has created characters that are not only dreamy, sigh worthy, and just overall amazing but she’s also created characters that you feel slightly bad for hating. But only just a teensy bit. It’s easy to slip into the book and find yourself wondering where the time has went, especially when Lacey is the less than confident girl she is, and Karson’s the overcocky, future NHLer. They easily draw you in. Not to mention you get an insight to Lacey who has fought and survived breast cancer. It’s amazing to get a look into her head!
Then there’s the plot, it just makes you feel like everything is a fairytale, but towards the end you begin to see that everything isn’t always that easy. Toni Aleo has created a reality in which you could imagine yourself and easily put yourself in the heads of the characters, that is how well she writes the characters and her books. Occasionally the dialogue seems a slight bit awkward in the wording but overall this is a novella that you will have to read, especially before Laces and Lace comes out sometime closer to 2015. Oh, and I forgot to mention Tangled in the Laces is the prequel to Laces and Lace.
Hooking Hannah by Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr
“He didn’t believe in love at first sight or anything - who did? - but that woman fired up his blood.” -Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr, Hooking Hannah
Hannah’s never wanted the life of a NHL hockey wife like her sister has. But she soon finds that it might not be her choice when Scott catches sight of her. It takes some convincing but he finally manages to get her to go out with him. But will Hannah be able to get past his career to embrace the love she could have?
Both Cassandra and Cindy Carr have created a book that seems like it was written by one author. Sometimes when collaborating, you can tell the distinctive styles of the writers but in Hooking Hannah, it seems as if it is being written by just one author.
Then there’s the characters. Hannah is reluctant to follow in her sister’s footsteps and become a hockey wife, and yet we see her changing thoughts throughout the book. It is a slow change and Cassandra and Cindy Carr display it in such a way that it doesn’t feel rushed. They don’t make it seem all that shocking that she would possibly change her mind throughout the book which is great to see! Then, of course, there’s Scott. Swoonworthy, handsome, extremely thoughtful and sweet. Basically everything you want to see in a guy.
Throughout the novella, it’s clear to see the struggle that Hannah is feeling and the ones that Scott is developing. It keeps things going and the small but noticeable changes are the best. That way the ending doesn’t seem to have snuck up on you and left you totally confused as to why there was a total 180. Cassandra and Cindy Carr have created a great novella to contribute to a great cause!
Crashing the Boards(Seattle Sockeyes 1.5) by Jami Davenport
“Judging by the stubborn set of his jaw and those steely blue eyes, this wasn’t going to be easy.” -Jami Davenport, Crashing the Boards
Cooper never wanted to come to Seattle and is making it hard on the new team owners. Izzy has been hired to crash the party and turn it from a dud into amazing. But first she must convince Cooper, the team captain. When sparks fly, she thinks things may be easier than it seems but nothing is ever easy in the game of love.
First of all, I want to say that I am not very adventurous so having a character that is working to be a professional party crasher was really exciting and invigourating for me. Mostly because it allowed me to get inside Izzy’s head and have all the rush of everything she was feeling and doing without actually risking anything. Jami Davenport certainly did an amazing job with creating characters that were easy to understand the surface and get into their heads. She’s drawn the readers in and created a situation that is certain to make things difficult. And it does. But she also gives those romantics what they’re always looking for in any romance book.
Overall this was a great book for a great cause. Jami Davenport created relatable characters, that involved some hockey and a team that is struggling with it’s relocation. The plot is interesting and keeps the reader engaged as well as interested to find out more. I think I’ll definitely give her new series, Seattle Sockeyes, a chance when the first book comes out!
Taking a Shot(Portland Storm 2.5) by Catherine Gayle
“They gave me something to believe in, and there hadn’t been much of that lately.” -Catherine Gayle, Taking a Shot
Katie Weber has been diagnosed with Leukemia and is fighting for her life. She’s also had a crush on the Portland Storm’s Jamie Babcock ever since he joined the team that her father played on. But since discovering she has cancer, she’s decided not to go to Prom, that is until Jamie asks her, much to the dismay of her father.
Can I just say that even though this was a novella, it put me through an emotional wringer? Catherine Gayle makes you feel the emotions that her characters do and you just can’t help but laugh and cry even as you remind yourself that it’s just a book. Catherine Gayle has created characters that you can get behind and you find yourself cheering for the couple even as her father takes protective to a whole new level. But you can also understand his reasons. She gives you insight into this difficult situation and it was eye opening to see.
Catherine Gayle has certainly created a wonderfully created novella to support an amazing cause and has found a new fan for her Portland Storm series. I will definitely be adding the previous two books in this series to my to-read pile!
A Valuable Trade by Jaymee Jacobs
“I may not be a hockey player, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t know how hard trades are.” -Jaymee Jacobs, A Valuable Trade
Bryan’s been traded and his girlfriend is reluctant to follow him. When he arrives in Dallas, he finds himself greeted by the definition of a southern cowgirl, Georgiana, who also happens to work as the Director of Team Services for the Comets. After a drunken night together, they find that it’s not always easy to ignore things. But Bryan must decide between his girlfriend, and Georgiana.
At first I found that this novella was really hard to get into. I think mostly because of the point of view. It’s not one I’m always comfortable with and it seemed to be a little awkward at first. But then everything settled down and it wasn’t hard to find myself falling into the story.
Jaymee Jacobs has created two realistic characters in Bryan and Georgiana. After their drunken encounter, Georgiana finds things difficult and it’s easy to see why. Not only that but it’s clear that Bryan feels the same and why. Jamee Jacobs allows readers to understand the viewpoints of her characters without making a snap judgment about their behavior.
It was interesting to see the effect that the trade had on Bryan as well. Many times, we see only what people want us to see and it was interesting to get that glimpse into the difficulties of being traded to a new city, and a new team. Jaymee Jacobs in A Valuable Trade gives the readers an insight into what it truly is like to be a NHL player, and the sacrifices that the players make that the fans don’t alway see.
Heir Apparent by V.L. Locey
“I came down with a whole new understanding of who I was that day.” -V.L. Locey, Heir Apparent
Jacobi Neal has just been called up to the NHL as backup to his hero, Cam Evans. But when he first meets his hero, he finds himself fighting an attraction and certain issues. But he’s not alone in that. Can the two overcome their issues together or is this a lost cause?
V.L. Locey has created two characters that might just fit perfectly together. It was amazing to read a book about Jacobi and Cam, especially because Cam is older than Jacobi and Jacobi seems to have a bit of hero worship for him in the beginning of the book. It’s interesting to see how their relationship develops and how they interact with each other.
It’s not hard to get into Heir Apparent with the way it’s told. The book seems as if it’s just a good friend reminiscing about old times. The narration is smooth and keeps the reader interested with occasional comments that are obvious that the narrator is adding as he’s telling the story.
Not to mention the view we gain into being gay in the NHL. I don’t think it’s something that often comes up and V.L. Locey gives us a glimpse into what it might be like to be gay and in the NHL.
Heir Apparent is a marvellous book by a great author supporting an amazing cause. It serves as a great addition to an amazing anthology!
Blind Pass(The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5) by Bianca Sommerland
“He wanted to make her laugh again, wanted to use the time on the long flight to get to know more than her name.” -Bianca Sommerland, Blind Pass
Tim Rowe, assistant coach to the Dartmouth Cobras finds himself falling for the flight attendant on the way to one of their away games. But he’s not sure that he can meet her needs. When Madeline sees Tim, she knows that there’s something special between the two. But will their relationship be able to last?
Bianca Sommerland has created characters that immediately draw readers in. Tim is the man who is used to his brother getting the girls. And Madeline is a mothering type, someone who is always looking to help those around her. With the way that Bianca Sommerland presents them it isn’t hard to jump inside their heads and see their worries and fears. Not to mention fall in love with both. It’s clear to see that both are interested in the other and they both care for the team. It was amazing to read.
Not to mention the fact that it’s interesting to see a relationship that shouldn’t succeed succeed. I only say that because Madeline is a flight attendant and Tim is an assistant coach for a hockey team. This means that both are travelling quite a bit and long distance relationships don’t seem to work a lot of the times. It was great to see a relationship like that work out.
Bianca Sommerland has created a great addition to this anthology and it was certainly amazing to read!
Captain, My Captain by Nikki Worrell(Prequel to the NHL Scorpions Series)
“But there’s nothing to forgive. I was absolutely going to hit on you, but you blew it.” -Nikki Worrell, Captain, My Captain
Kelly’s had a rough life and is working hard to make it better. Keith has just been traded, and broke up with his girlfriend of two years. But when he sees Kelly, his ex is forgotten and he knows he’ll work hard to get Kelly in his bed and his heart. But will Kelly be able to let her past go and believe in his love?
Nikki Worrell has created two characters that share an easy banter. I think that was one of the things I enjoyed most about this novella. It was the easy banter that was still amusing that Kelly and Keith share. I was always looking forward to when the two would run into each other and there would be some smart comment made.
Again, an author has touched on the difficulties that can be had after having been traded and that’s always nice to see. Then there’s the fact that there’s a complete pain in the a-hole character that you can very much enjoy hating. It just seems to draw in the reader.
Captain, My Captain is a great prequel to the NHL Scorpions series and you should definitely check it out!
Phew, I made it through! And hopefully you did too! But reading through this anthology I found the time just flew and I was constantly having to set alarms on my cell phone so that I wouldn’t be late for class or miss a tv show that I was looking forward to. And even when I stopped to watch a tv show, I was sneaking a couple of pages in during the commercials. You will not be disappointed if you pick up this book and you’d be supporting an amazing cause! This is a must-have for anyone who likes sports, more specifically hockey, romance books.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
For any lover of hockey romances these are a fantastic collection of super hot stories. That they are being sold to raise funds and awareness of cancer charities, and that through some of them there is a cancer theme, makes them even more special.
Tangled in the Laces - Toni Aleo
An absolutely fabulous read, but 2015 before the next book in the series ? That is cruel! I am desperate to know what happens next ... Brilliant writing, wonderful storyline, extremely movingly written, and utterly convincing - thank you.
Hooking Hannah - Cassandra Carr & Cindy Carr
A sweet and sexy hockey story that leaves a lovely warm afterglow. Very well written; thank you to both Ms's Carr.
Crashing the Boards - Jami Davenport
Hot prelude to a new series which will be high on my pre-order list. In just a few pages my interest in Cooper and Izzy has been spiked, and I see plenty of adventures for her siblings too!
Taking a Shot - Catherine Gayle
Oh wow, what a weepy! Beautifully written story, just make sure you have a box of tissues nearby!
A Valuable Trade - Jaymee Jacobs
An unexpected trade finds Bryan in Dallas and facing a new team and players. His girlfriend is not so sure she wants to relocate again, leaving Bryan feeling miserable. Luckily the Team Director has a positive attitude that is rubbing off on him.
Heir Apparent - V.L. Locey
This thought provoking novella reminds the reader that times change and freedom to acknowledge one's sexual orientation is a very recently won right. This story is well written, extremely hot and most enjoyable. I look forward to reading more by Ms Locey.
Blind Pass. Bianca Sommerland
I am a huge Cobra's series fan, so this was my first stop in this wonderful anthology. There was never a moment when I was worried about my choice of reading. This is a wonderful short story that brilliantly interwove the team and a relationship together. Thank you Ms Sommerland once again.
Captain, My Captain - Nikki Worrell
Short story combining many of the winning elements that make a guy seem worth it - love of animals, hates disrespectful men, doesn't like puck bunnies ... Does he win through here? Read it and see !
Bianca Sommerland BLIND PASS (The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5) 4/5 stars I enjoyed this story though found it confusing. I understand the switch but was Madeline also one?
Jami Davenport CRASHING THE BOARDS (Seattle Sockeyes 1.5) 5/5 Loved this story and will be following to read more! A professional party crasher, never heard of it, but thinks its a brilliant premise!
Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr HOOKING HANNAH 4/5 I loved that we got to see not all athletes are asses lol. It was a sweet romantic story!
Catherine Gayle TAKING A SHOT (Portland Storm 2.5) 5/5 I sobbed like an idiot, over and over! I will be picking up more in this series! I need to know what happens and i need it now!
Toni Aleo - Tangled in the Laces (The Assassins series: Prequel to Laces and Lace) 5/5 I love a player meeting his match, though not thrilled with the end lol. I will be stalking for more books.
V.L. Locey - Heir Apparent I am a big fan of M/M and this had a great plot, good story line and romance! Its perfect 5/5
Jaymee Jacobs, A VALUABLE TRADE 5/5 Very sweet and romantic short story. Well done!
Nikki Worrell – Captain, My Captain (Prequel to the NHL Scorpions Series) 4/5 I was confused on the original hookup in the book. It didn't seem to be a part of the story unless needed for later books?? Otherwise I loved the back and forth between the MC's
Overall I really enjoyed this antho. it has something for everyone, YA, NA, M/M, lots of sex and romance! Its a great read for a great cause! I know I will be stalking some new to me authors.
I love hockey...like really love hockey so anytime I see hockey romance books I snap them up. Seduced by the Game is an eight novella boxed set featuring 8 great authors. Since I have read most hockey romance books, I was very familiar with six out of the eight authors and I was very happy to discover two (new to me) great authors. Most of the novellas are part of an ongoing series by each author but each novella can definitely be read stand alone. I totally loved this series.
Since the stories are novellas I really don't want to get into the plots and spoil the stories but I will say I enjoyed each and every one. A couple were frustrating to me because they had a bit of cliffhanger...not really a fan of cliffhangers but they totally made sense in the plots, just means more books I have to put on my future buy list.
Since the book is a fundraiser for the fight against cancer, I especially loved the stories featuring cancer survivors. Several of the stories you will definitely need tissue nearby when reading the story. Highly recommend this boxed set!!!
I love hockey romances. So when I discovered that a bunch of my favorite authors came together with an anthology I was doing back flips. Okay I’m not really capable of doing a back flip without seriously hurting myself, but I did a lot of them in my head – where it counts.
Even more amazing they put this anthology together for an incredible cause, the fight against cancer.
The anthology opens with Toni Aleo’s Tangled in the Laces (The Assassins series: Prequel to Laces and Lace coming out in 2015). All I can say is incredible, my heart just melted. It was a truly magnificent story about a strong heroine, Lacey Martin, who survived breast cancer and the wonderful perspective first-round draft pick hockey player, Karson King, who loves her. I will anxiously be counting day the days to the release of Laces and Lace to read the rest of their story. Tangled in the Laces has become my new favorite in the Assassins series.
Next up is Cassandra Carr’s and Cindy Carr’s HOOKING HANNAH. Hannah does not have the best image of hockey players. NHL hockey star Scott Richards plans on changing her opinion. First off, I love that the mother and daughter wrote this story together. I also enjoyed the concussion aspect and Hanna support of Scott. This is a sweet book, with lovable characters that I hope will resurface in a future book.
Jami Davenport CRASHING THE BOARDS (Seattle Sockeyes 1.5) The Giants hockey team has been sold and are relocating to Seattle. The players are not happy, especially team captain, Cooper Black. Management decides to hire professional party crasher, Izzy Maxwell to initiate some fun at the team welcome party to help team morale. This was a very creative concept and original story that will have you smiling.
Catherine Gayle TAKING A SHOT (Portland Storm 2.5) Eighteen-year-old, Katie Weber, is suffering from leukemia and beginning to lose her will to fight. Twenty-year-old Jamie Babcock has liked his teammate's daughter from afar. Jamie’s team mates talk him into asking Katie to her prom to help give her something to live for. This story made me cry from both heartbreak and joy. It is a heartwarming story you will not want to miss.
V.L. Locey - Heir Apparent is a clever tale about up-and-coming goalie Jacobi Neal and the relationship he develops with his childhood idol and new teammate goalie Cam Evans.
Jaymee Jacobs, A VALUABLE TRADE: Bryan Comstock is upset by his trade to the Dallas Comets, but his transition is made easier by their Director of Team Services Georgiana Pierson.
Bianca Sommerland BLIND PASS (The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5) Having followed the Dartmouth Cobras Series, I enjoyed learning assistant coach Tim Rowe’s story. He is a lovable character with a great romance.
Nikki Worrell – Captain, My Captain (Prequel to the NHL Scorpions Series) I loved hearing Scorpions Captain, Keith Lambert’s story. It was a great way to complete this anthology.
A couple of authors were first time reads for me: Catherine Gayle, Jaymee Jacobs, and V.L. Locey. I’m glad I finally had an opportunity to read something by all of them.
I would like to point out that I don’t remember ever giving an anthology five stars. Typically, I might love one or two stories but never all of them, so I give the book what I feel is an appropriate average. I literally loved the characters in every story and did not want any of them to end.
Whether you love contemporary sports/hockey novels, a good romance, or to support a wonderful cause: you will not be disappointed in this book. It should be a staple in every romance library.

A touching, heartfelt and uplifting novella. Catherine Gayle tells a compelling and incredibly sweet story about losing hope and then finding it in the people that love us. It’s a stock up on tissues story!
Catherine is joined by seven other talented authors to support the fight against cancer. But this 8 novella anthology is not just about the fight, it’s also about its hot protagonists and their love for hockey.
For those of us who have followed Catherin Gayle’s Hockey series (Portland Storm) Taking a Shot is a very special treat because it features the very adorable and loveable Jamie Babcock and Katie Weber. If you haven’t read about them, you can still enjoy this very sweet, moving story.
Without neglecting the excitement of the game, she depicts a show of strength, solidarity and family through what is the start of Katie’s battle against leukemia. While she is determined to fight it with all the available medical resources, she’s not fighting it with her heart, that is until Jamie mans up and does something about it.
“He made me want to be brave.”
As for the rest of these stories, I’ll be sure to read all of them, because I’m sure they’re equally emotive. Be sure to visit us during the anthology’s blog tour and launch of this fight against cancer.
WOWZAAAAAAA! I have waited for this book ever since I heard it was coming out, seriously chomping at the bit to get my hands on it and boy it didn’t disappoint at all! Except I wish all the stories were all longer because I fell in love with every character and I didn’t want to see their stories end just yet! I wanted me and I still do!
All the stories were sexy, chaotic, smile inspiring, JUST AMAZING. I love sport romance books, I don’t what I would do without them and to have all these great authors of the genre make anthology together, it’s a dream come true!
I recommend this book to any and all romance book lovers. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone and it’s also for a great cause. If the amazing books in this anthology don’t convince you, supporting a great cause should and getting 8 novellas that will melt the ice with how hot the chemistry between these characters is and the heartwarming stories of finding the one. The one true love everyone wishes they had. So go. Get. It. Now. Please. Thank. You. Much love to all the authors and I will forever be a fan of all your books, past, present and future.
I first learned of this anthology through Facebook. This anthology contains all hockey stories, two of which are from authors I have read in the past. Needless to say, I was excited to read Seduced by the Game and signed up to review it.
Please note, that all proceeds made from the sale of this book is to benefit Hockey Fights Cancer. Cancer touches everyone at some point in their lives. My sister, mom father and grandmother all had Cancer. So, another reason for me to review this Anthology is to help support people with Cancer and their families and to help find a cure for it.
Anthologies are both a blessing and a curse to me. A blessing because I get to read new authors, and a curse because I wind up buying those authors' entire library. With six new authors introduced to me, my wallet will be begging me for mercy!
Each story in Seduced by the Game sucked me in. Each author touched my heart with the story they told. I fell in love with each of the lead characters, and left me wanting more. And best of all......it hockey! I have to give Seduced by the Game 5 Hearts.
What a great book for such a good cause! This book has something for everyone. Of course I had to buy it with new novellas from two of my fave hockey authors, but all 8 of these stories were really good.I have some new authors to check out now as well. Thank you ladies for your generosity and donating your proceeds to this very important cause! Cancer sucks!
Cancer is an ugly word in my house. I lost my mother to cancer when I was a teenager, my godmother who raised me is currently winning her battle with breast cancer and we lost my amazing father-in-law last Fall to leukemia. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. I was so happy when I found out out that some of my favorite hockey romance authors had teamed up to release an anthology, Seduced by the Game, a collection of hockey novellas with all proceeds going to Hockey Fights Cancer.
Blurb: It's time to drop the gloves and fight! Support the fight against cancer that is. This anthology of 8 brand new novellas is hot enough to melt the ice these players skate on. Featuring stories from popular New York Times & USA Today, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble best selling authors, including Toni Aleo, Cassandra Carr, Cindy Carr, Jami Davenport, Catherine Gayle, Jaymee Jacobs, V.L. Locey, Bianca Sommerland, and Nikki Worrell.
Toni Aleo- TANGLED IN LACES: In Tangled in Laces, Karson King is on the fast track to the pros and Lacey Martin is coming back from a hard fight against cancer and is terrified of him, but their love is too much to ignore. Will Karson prove that he will protect her heart at all costs, or will he live Lacey to pick up the pieces of her life once again?
Review: This prequel has me setting up a count down ticker to 2015, it is hot, full of love, drama and just the right amount of angst to catch me.. hook, line and sinker! After this teaser I am so excited that these two are getting their own full length book and can't wait! Toni Aleo has never disappointed me with any of her books and I don't think this will be the exception! Write faster Toni! :)
Cassandra Carr & Cindy Carr- HOOKING HANNAH: When Hannah attends an all-star game, she doesn't expect a hockey player of all people to turn her wold upside down. Her sister is married to a player and Hannah never wanted that life. But Scott could change everything. For Scott's part, he has to know the woman who stirred his blood with just a look, and once he does, he realizes he wants Hannah to be his forever. Now to convince her…
Review: This was my first taste of Cassandra Carr & Cindy Carr's writing and it certainly won't be my last! I loved the story, it came together beautifully, and holy crap was it HOT! I can't wait for more from these authors and love the HEA they gave me in the small amount of space they had available!
Jami Davenport- CRASHING THE BOARDS (Seattle Sockeyes 1.5) Professional party crasher, Izzy Maxwell, needs the cooperation of reluctant party guess Cooper Black, the team captain of Seattle's new hockey team, but Cooper can't get past his anger over the teams relocation to Seattle. Can Izzy melt Cooper's frozen heart or will this party crash along with her fledgling business?
Review: Jami Davenport NEVER disappoints! Crashing the Boards is a whirlwind romance, full of steam. I loved Cooper and Izzy and the HEA I felt like I got at the end of the novella… THEN Jami surprised me by announcing that this is just a teaser that Cooper and Izzy are getting a full length book, I can't wait- it is sure to be just as fabulous as this prequel!
Catherine Gayle- Taking a Shot (Portland Storm 2.5) Katie Weber has had a crush on Jamie Babcock for almost two years, since he joined her fathers hockey team, the Portland Storm as an eighteen-year old rookie. When cancer takes her health, her hair, and even her friends, she can't bear to go to senior prom… until Jamie intervenes.
Review: First off, let me start by saying if you are a fan of hockey romance and aren't reading Catherine Gayle's Portland Storm series, STOP reading right now and pick up the first two books in this series. This author has a way of writing hockey romance that fans of the game and the genre will love. Now, back to this story. I have loved Katie and Jamie's budding attraction in the first two books of this series and had even emailed this author asking WHEN they are getting their story. They are slowly growing up before our very eyes and this book is perfect. Jamie has a crush on Katie from afar (mainly because her father, and his teammate, will have him sleeping with the fishes if he gets too close to his daughter). Katie is battling cancer and when Jamie risks life and limb (reference the previous sentence) and asks to take her to her senior prom it gives her the motivation she needs to keep fighting. This is a sweet story that left me with tears in my eyes and super excited to know that eventually they will get their own book and it is going to be WONDERFUL!
Jaymee Jacobs- A Valuable Trade Bryan's life gets turned upside down when he gets traded to the Dallas Comets, and things get even messier when he meets Georgiana the Director of Team Services. He's got a lot of work to do to prove his worth to his new team, but Georgian's sure he'll prove to be a valuable trade.
Review: I love a story where a girl who is "one of the guys" finds love. This is no exception, this was my first Jaymee Jacobs read and I look forward to reading more about the Dallas Comets.
V.L. Locey- Heir Apparent Superstar Cam Evans is fighting to climb out of a slump that's growing worse with each day of living in denial. Fresh from the minors, Jacobi Neal is hungry for this chance to play back-up for the legendary goalie. Can two men battle each other, their inner demons, and the sizzling attraction building between them.
Review: I am not normally drawn to m/m stories, but this novella gave me a taste of what I have been missing and I was hooked. These two men are not only fighting for their careers, but are also fighting for love, this is a hot, tension filled ride that left me wanting more from this author!
Bianca Sommerland- Blind Pass (The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5) Nothing could stop Tim Rowe, the assistant coach of the Dartmouth Cobras, from falling in love with Madeline, but love alone can't satisfy every need. Sometimes, to reach the goal, you have to take a chance with a… Blind Pass.
Review: How is their a hockey romance series out that I haven't read? I am so excited this anthology put Bianca Sommerland on my radar and after reading this prequel to her Dartmouth Cobra series, I MUST find all the books out so far and read them.. Geesh, and I call myself a fan of hockey romance. I am buckled in if this prequel is any indication of this series I am about to go for one fun, hot ride!
Nikki Worrell- Captain, My Captain (Prequel to Scorpions Series) Keith Lambert is captain of the Flyers- until he's not. To everyone's shock, he's traded to the San Diego Scorpions. As if that's not bad enough, Phoebe his girlfriend of two years, decides she doesn't love him enough to follow.
All alone in a new town, Keith is drawn to Kelly, his take out delivery girl. When she shows up at ice girl tryouts he's lost. She's all he can see. Can he convince her to forget her past and take a chance on him or is he destined to be alone in a new town a little bit longer?
Review: Nikki Worrell is one of my favorite hockey romance authors and I loved this prequel to a series I am already in love with! If you are a fan of hockey romance you need to be reading Nikki Worrell and this teaser gives a good peek into her writing style, get out your debit card, you will want to purchase the Scorpion books to date (if you haven't already) after reading Captain, My Captain!
If you can't tell from my reviews above, not only is purchasing this book supporting a great cause, but you are also getting a HUGE return on your investment. I enjoy charitable giving, but I think Seduced by the Game is the book that immediately gave me something back, with a collection of hockey novellas that are sure to make any reader of this genre happy
It’s time to drop the gloves and fight! Support the Fight against cancer that is. This anthology of 8 brand new novellas is hot enough to melt the ice these players skate on.
Synopsis
Featuring stories from popular New York Times & USA Today, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble bestselling authors, including Toni Aleo, Cassandra Carr, Cindy Carr, Jami Davenport, Catherine Gayle, Jaymee Jacobs, V.L. Locey, Bianca Sommerland, and Nikki Worrell.
Toni Aleo TANGLED IN THE LACES
In Tangled in the Laces, Karson King is on the fast track to the pros and Lacey Martin is coming back from a hard fight against cancer and is terrified of him but their love is too much to ignore. Will Karson prove that he will protect her heart at all costs, or will he leave Lacey to pick up the pieces of her life once again?
I absolutely loved this story. Great storyline and wonderful writing. It was sweet and very touching. The fact that one character has had such exposure to this horrible disease makes is so much more touching. Can’t wait to know what happens next.
Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr HOOKING HANNAH
When Hannah attends an all-star game, she doesn't expect a hockey player of all people to turn her world upside down. Her sister is married to a player and Hannah never wanted that life. But Scott could change everything. For Scott's part, he has to know the woman who stirred his blood with just a look, and once he does, he realizes he wants Hannah to be his forever. Now to convince her...
I really enjoyed this story. It’s sexy and well written. This is my first exposure to the works of Cassandra & Cindy Carr and I can’t wait to read more of their stories.
Jami Davenport CRASHING THE BOARDS (Seattle Sockeyes 1.5)
Professional party crasher, Izzy Maxwell, needs the cooperation of reluctant party guest Cooper Black, the team captain of Seattle’s new hockey team, but Cooper can’t get past his anger over the team’s relocation to Seattle. Can Izzy melt Cooper’s frozen heart or will this party crash along with her fledgling business?
I enjoyed this story immensely. Cooper Black and Izzy Maxwell are such great characters. It’s a hot and steamy story. This is also the first story I’ve read by Jami Davenport and I will be going back for more.
Catherine Gayle TAKING A SHOT (Portland Storm 2.5)
Katie Weber has had a crush on Jamie Babcock for almost two years, since he joined her father’s hockey team, the Portland Storm as an eighteen-year-old rookie. When cancer takes her health, her hair, and even her friends, she can’t bear to go to senior prom…until Jamie intervenes.
Wonderfully written and such a great story. This story like Tangled in Laces also finds one of the characters dealing with cancer and some of the issues that you have to face. Very moving.
Jaymee Jacobs A VALUABLE TRADE
Bryan's life gets turned upside down when he gets traded to the Dallas Comets, and things get even messier when he meets Georgiana, the Director of Team Services. He's got a lot of work to do to prove his worth to his new team, but Georgiana's sure he'll prove to be a valuable trade.
Hot! Absolutely, love this story. Very well written
V.L. Locey HEIR APPARENT
Superstar Cam Evans is fighting to climb out of a slump that`s growing worse with each day of living in denial. Fresh from the minors, Jacobi Neal is hungry for this chance to play back-up for the legendary goalie. Can two men battle each other, their inner demons, and the sizzling attraction building between them?
Such a great story and very enjoyable. It’s a glimpse into the how someone copes with their sexual orientation when even in this day and age many believe homosexuality isn’t right or has to be hidden. Wonderful story.
Bianca Sommerland BLIND PASS (The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5)
Nothing could stop Tim Rowe, the assistant coach of the Dartmouth Cobras, from falling in love with Madeline, but love alone can’t satisfy every need. Sometimes, to reach the goal, you have to take the chance with a . . . Blind Pass. Two great characters. Really great story
Nikki Worrell - CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN (Prequel to Scorpions Series)
Keith Lambert is the captain of the Flyers—until he’s not. To everyone’s shock, he’s traded to the San Diego Scorpions. As if that’s not bad enough, Phoebe, his girlfriend of two years, decides she doesn’t love him enough to follow.
All alone in a new town, Keith is drawn to Kelly, his take out delivery girl. When she shows up at ice girl tryouts, he’s lost. She’s all he can see. Can he convince her to forget her past and take a chance on him or is he destined to be alone in a new town a little bit longer?
Love this story. Will they both find happiness? Read and find out. Can’t wait to read more great books by Nikki Worrell
I can't say enough good things about this anthology. Great authors, awesome stories for such a good cause. I urge everyone to buy this anthology for some really great reading and to support a very worthwhile cause.
This anthology had 8 novellas. I read all of them, except for one DNF...and there is one that I can't currently remember...
Anyhoo, here is the breakdown:
Bianca Sommerland BLIND PASS (The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5) Nothing could stop Tim Rowe, the assistant coach of the Dartmouth Cobras, from falling in love with Madeline, but love alone can’t satisfy every need. Sometimes, to reach the goal, you have to take the chance with a . . . Blind Pass.
I started this, but didn't get through it. Madeline seemed more attracted to Tim's brother and just I wasn't feeling it.
Jami Davenport CRASHING THE BOARDS(Seattle Sockeyes 1.5) Professional party crasher, Izzy Maxwell, needs the cooperation of reluctant party guest Cooper Black, the team captain of Seattle’s new hockey team, but Cooper can’t get past his anger over the team’s relocation to Seattle. Can Izzy melt Cooper’s frozen heart or will this party crash along with her fledgling business?
3 Stars - This was fun. Light, airy and a little bit stupid, but sexy and entertaining.
Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr HOOKING HANNAH When Hannah attends the NHL All-Star game, she doesn't expect a hockey player of all people to turn her world upside down. Her sister is married to a player and Hannah never wanted that life. But Scott could change everything. For Scott's part, he has to know the woman who stirred his blood with just a look, and once he does, he realizes he wants Hannah to be his forever. Now to convince her...
2.5 to 3 Stars - This was just okay. It was well written but I found Hannah to be a little tedious.
Catherine Gayle TAKING A SHOT(Portland Storm 2.5) Katie Weber has had a crush on Jamie Babcock for almost two years, since he joined her father’s NHL team, the Portland Storm as an eighteen-year-old rookie. When cancer takes her health, her hair, and even her friends, she can’t bear to go to senior prom…until Jamie intervenes.
5 Stars - This by itself could have made the anthology for me. I met Katie and Jamie in Gayle's first Portland series book, Breakaway and I enjoyed the hell out of this little teaser. I can't wait for the continuation!
Toni Aleo - Tangled in the Laces (The Assassins series: Prequel to Laces and Lace) In Tangled in the Laces, Karson King is on the fast track to the NHL. Lacey Martin is coming back from a hard fight against cancer and is terrified of him but the attraction is too much to ignore. Soon their love is so intense, neither of them see the rest of their lives without the other. Will Karson prove that he will protect her heart at all costs, or will he leave Laceyto pick up the pieces of her life once again?
5 Stars - Holy fucking tease, Batman. Toni Aleo is basically just throwing us a rabbit to chase around the track on this one. I was totally engrossed and SO sad when it ended. Total cliffhanger. I can't wait for the release of Laces and Lace.
V.L. Locey - Heir Apparent Superstar Cam Evans is fighting to climb out of a slump that`s growing worse with each day of living in denial. Fresh from the minors, Jacobi Neal is hungry for this chance to play back-up for the legendary goalie. Can two men battle each other, their inner demons, and the sizzling attraction building between them?
5 Stars - This was a totally juicy mm surprise that I was definitely not expecting. I LOVED this one. In fact, I wish it had been a full length novel. This, Aleo and Gayle's tales made this anthology a winner in my book. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Jaymee Jacobs, A VALUABLE TRADE Bryan's life gets turned upside when he gets traded to the Dallas Comets, and things get even messier when he meets Georgiana, the Director of Team Services. He's got a lot of work to do to prove his worth to his new team, but Georgiana's sure he'll prove to be a valuable trade.
3 Stars - This had all the elements of a 4 to 5 star read. It was well written and cute and I really liked Bryan and Georgiana; however, I wasn't so into
Nikki Worrell – Captain, My Captain (Prequel to the NHL Scorpions Series) Keith Lambert is the captain of the Philadelphia Flyers—until he’s not. To everyone’s shock, he’s traded to the San Diego Scorpions. As if that’s not bad enough, Phoebe, his girlfriend of two years, decides she doesn’t love him enough to follow.
For the life of me I cannot remember this one right now...maybe I will come back to this later? lol
Anyway, overall, I really enjoyed this anthology, plus it was to support a good cause. Worth every penny in my book!
Just finished Tangled in LACES :(( HEAT BROKEN HERE :((
---------------------------
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I just finished the book and may I just say. The whole book is such an epic Cliffy (not in a bad way), BUT BUT BUT, it was all worth it I'm telling ya. This book will let you feel all emotions that is existing in this word. It will make you laugh, cry, pissed, confuse, name it! I don't know for the others, but for me it did.
Back to the epic cliffy. Yeap you heard me these stories might not be a cliffhanger for everyone but for me it is. One things for sure, I WILL BE WANTING MORE AND MORE and will be ANTICIPATING what will happen next to the stories of my favorite couples. (Especially Karson and Lacey)
You will not REGRET purchasing this book. One, because you'll be able to help supporting an ADVOCACY to fight cancer and your money won't be put into waste and be darn sure that it will help a lot of people just by buying a book. How awesome is that? You buy a book and you get to help and support people. AWESOME right? TWO, Hockey. Need I say more, all the Hockey fans there? You will surely love the stories in store for you in this Anthology. THIRD, JUST FREAKIN PURCHASE IT PLEASE :)
To be honest, when I saw that Toni Aleo is participating in this Anthology, well, i didn't need to read the blurb I know it will be awesome. To be able to read a lot more stories by amazing authors is such a great BONUS.
So you guys out there on DON'T FORGET ON APRIL 10. BE READY TO BE SEDUCED BY THE GAME!
I never rate my own books, or anthologies that I`m involved with, but this one is different because of the cause it supports. It`s bigger than just me.
I`m thrilled to be a part of such a fantastic group of highly talented writers. Each and every story is top-notch, as are the authors who are participating.
I'm not gonna lie I originally bought this for Toni Aleo's story. I'm a big fan and couldn't wait to read it. But I gave the other stories and authors a try.
If you'd like to read some stories about HOT hockey players then this book is for you. And it supports a great cause!
First off, you need to look at this story as a prologue to a future book. If you go in with this attitude you won’t be disappointed. Basically, Karson King falls head over heels in love with his best friend sister, Lacey Martin. Lacey doesn't want anything to do with Karson for fear she will end up broken. By the end of Tangled in the Laces, Karson is forced to make a choice, but isn’t allowed to let Lacey know anything.
By the end of the novella, you feel horrible for Karson, because he’s made to look like the bad guy. Man I hope everything works out for him when the rest of the story comes out and I hope the true bastard gets what is coming to him.
Hooking Hannah Cassandra Carr & Cindy Carr
In Hooking Hannah, we meet Scott Richard. After the All-Star game he finds himself drawn to gal who his hanging out with a player he knows. Comes to find out that she’s the sister-in-law to the guy. Instantly attracted to Hannah, he wants to get to know her better. Hannah is not one to chase hockey jocks, but she seems drawn to Scott.
Loved Hooking Hannah! It had steam and funny parts. I personally like the inner dialogue between Scott and Hannah. Scott pretty much won me over with his charm. For a quick little read, it sure packs in the steam and a pretty good story for being a novella.
Crashing the Boards Jami Davenport
Crashing the Boards was an all right story. I can see a lot a of potential to this story. I get the feeling that the story between Izzy Maxwell and Cooper Black is just getting started. So, I’m curious how this is going to play out, because Cooper isn’t happy being in Seattle, so that should be interesting. I guess we have to wait and see. At least we don’t have to wait too long for the story to continue.
Taking a Shot Catherine Gayle All right, I cried in Taking a Shot. We have Katie Weber whose father is a hockey player and she’s had a crush on one of his teammates, Jamie Babcock. She decides to shave her head, because of her hair is starting to fall out cause of the cancer treatment. She just saw herself as no one ever wanting to be with, especially Jamie.
I really liked this story, because it’s sweet and sentimental. Jamie decides he wants to take Katie to prom. Jamie was just so sweet to her during the whole time. Sweet story. I don’t know if there is a future for these two or not.
A Valuable Trade Jaymee Jacobs
I enjoyed A Valuable Trade. I thought it was a pretty good story, even though I had a little issue with Brian doing something he shouldn’t have done. However, it workout for the best for him and he sure was lucky. Once the matter was settled, I thought Brian and Georgiana were really cute together. The story could probably be a longer story, but it seems to manage fine as a novella.
Heir Apparent V.L. Locey
So, I read Heir Apparent. First off, M/M stories are not my cup of tea. They just don’t appeal to me. However, for those that enjoy these types of stories, Heir Apparent felt like a complete story. I believe this story will appeal to those who enjoy M/M romance.
Blind Pass Bianca Sommerland
I liked Blind Pass. I enjoyed the relationship between Madeline and Tim. There’s not much I can say about this novella. I like how Madeline decide to take a chance on Tim, when his brother was more her type.
Captain, My Captain Nikki Worrell
I have to say that I could see Captain, My Captain as a full-length novel. However, it was fine as a novella. I like how Keith and Kelly kind of latched on to one another. Overall, a nice read.
allover this was a very fun read for a good cause and I found several new auhtors I will be following! Toni Aleo - TANGLED IN THE LACES ♥♥♥ I thought this was an intriguing story. I loved how it tied into the theme of cancer and charity I adored Lacey. However, it was a good romance, nice and spicy with an abrupt ending. If you like serial type stories this a pretty good, and I will be reading the next. I prefer a story with a conclusive ending or even a cliff-hanger but with some sort of closure to the first story. Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr - HOOKING HANNAH ♥♥♥ Hooking Hannah was another sweet, hot romance. Hannah and Scott are two sizzling hot characters. I think you could say it had a happy for now ending or it could be leading into another story, it didn’t say there was one on the way though. If you like a good sweet romance about Hockey players and artists this is for you.
Jami Davenport CRASHING THE BOARDS (Seattle Sockeyes 1.5) ♥♥♥♥ This was such a beautiful, heart-breaking story. I think I cried from the very first paragraph. I applauded Katie’s dads team for standing behind them so much you could feel the family spirit. I am definitely buying the rest of this series!
Catherine Gayle TAKING A SHOT (Portland Storm 2.5) ♥♥♥♥♥ I absolutely fell in love with this story. Izzy is so full of spunk and fire. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Coop is also stubborn and determined. . I loved the chemistry between these two and I can’t wait for more . this is a charming, fun and super sexy story. Jaymee Jacobs A VALUABLE TRADE ♥♥♥and a half This was another good story. Though I felt it moved a bit fast I have nothing against sex on a first date I just felt it wasn’t in either of these two peoples characters. I really loved George and her fire. The characters ar strong and the story is full of emotion My heart went out for Bryan and feeling unwanted from the trade off and indecision of his girlfriend. If you’re looking for a fast moving romance this is for you.
V.L. Locey HEIR APPARENT ♥♥♥♥♥ This was another well-written story with broken men and team spirit .It is a Mm romance but I recommend it if you have been wanting to tread the waters of the genre. It’s full of emotion, sexy but sensual dealing more with th feelings of the men involved than the sex.
Bianca Sommerland BLIND PASS (The Dartmouth Cobras 0.5) ♥♥♥ I was on the fence with this one. The story had a good premise but I just couldn’t get the feel of Tim. I will say I haven’t read any of this series but I think I liked Tim’s brother the best.It is a good romance and has a touch of Bdsm. I feel if this was a full length story there was a lot of potential for it to have been even more amazing.
Nikki Worrell - CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN (Prequel to NHL Scorpions Series) this was another brilliant story. I loved the emotions of the characters and the diversity. Each character had a distinct personality and there was conflict and happiness I definitely will be following this series.. the only reason I gave a 4 not 5 is there was one scene I felt didn’t quite belong. It dropped a hint then disappeared... this being a prequel I’m sure Pip may show back up but I didn’t see it add anything to this particular story. Having said that, I absolutely loved this story.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads
Tangled in the Laces by Toni Aleo
Tangled in the laces is a cute love story about college students Lacey and Karson. I enjoyed the story but found the writing overly sentimental. Then the angst started and I was sucked right in only to be left with a cliffhanger. This is the prequel for the full length novel Laces and Lace which is due out in 2015. I will definitely be reading Laces and Lace to find out what happens with Karson and Lacey.
Hooking Hannah by Cassandra Carr & Cindy Carr
A romantic and sexy story for about ups with lives, careers and a heroine who had no intention of falling for an ice hockey play. I enjoyed this adult romance.
Crashing the Boards - Jami Davenport
Crashing the Boards is intelligent with sexy characters which is told from the point of view of both Izzy Maxwell and Cooper Black. This was fun read. A full length novel about Izzy and Cooper will follow and I'll definitely be reading it.
Taking a Shot by Catherine Gayle
A sweet and ultimately heart warming story in which our heroine Katie has leukaemia. Lovely romance and a bit of a tear jerker.
A Valuable Trade by Jaymee Jacobs
A nice romance with a strong female lead. This made me want to go line dancing.
Heir Apparent by V L Locey
I was not expecting to read an m/m story about hockey players so I was very excited to discover Heir Apparent. A story about being a professional sportsman and dealing with being gay. I loved this. It was my favourite of all the stories.
Blind Pass by Bianca Sommerland
This story started out with promise but it didn't work for me. The BDSM aspect just didn't fit and the story was disjointed. I've read plenty of BSDM but in this instance I didn't connect with the story.
Captain, My Captain
I enjoyed this and the glossary of terms at the beginning was helpful for those of us that don't watch ice hockey. In hindsight, this book should have been put first in the anthology because of the glossary. If fleshed out this would make a great full length novel.
I really enjoyed this anthology and I've discovered new authors and lots of new books and series to read. And the hot ice hockey players were good too!
Seduced by the Game is a fabulous Hockey Romance Anthology filled with 8 novellas from some pretty fantastic authors. Some are old-time favorites of mine, and some are brand new to me. This Anthology is not only bringing smiles to Romance readers faces, but it is also helping a GREAT cause. 100% of the royalties will be donated to help the fight against cancer. This is such a great and moving thing that these authors have created. An anthology is usually not number one on my TBR list, but when I heard about this project and about all of the authors involved, I couldn't just let it go by. I had to be a part of it. I had to get involved and help spread the word. This project and the idea behind it, is another reason why I LOVE what I do!
In each and every one of these novellas, there is a story about hope, about perseverance, and of course, about steadfast love. Some are heartbreaking, difficult to read, but incredibly beautiful. You will laugh. You will cry, and you will probably cry some more, but in the end your heart will grow bigger, you might look at your life a little differently, and you will just appreciate your loved ones that much more. In just a short amount of time, each and every author will capture your heart in a way, where there will be no turning back.
In Seduced by the Game, there are stories of survivors, there are stories of new-found love, and there are stories that will just have you reaching for some cool cloth, because not only are some sweet, but sexy as well. I would expect no less from the great line-up of authors involved. I can't say enough good things about this project. I was happy to be reunited with some characters that I know of, and I was ecstatic to meet some new ones as well. Same goes for the authors. I LOVE some great Hockey Romances, and I just found some more authors to keep an eye out for. So for the READERS, you need to BUY THIS BOOK and help SUPPORT this great charity. For the AUTHORS, a big THANK YOU for donating your time and your fabulous words to this project. Keep fighting the fight!
