A realm filled with monsters and dangerous men with their secrets. Some monsters are made, others are born.
Sage Torrin is the granddaughter of the High King of Alandria.
Before Sage was born a prophecy was foretold of a child being born of both life and death destined to be the savior of the realm or its undoing. From the moment of her conception, others conspired against her. On the day of her birth, she was whisked away to the Other Realm, meant only to return when she came of age to attend Aliria Academy.
That time is now. Follow Sage as she learns to navigate her newfound magical abilities, uncovers secrets, forges friendships, and steps into the destiny laid before her.
Ashley Eileen is an indie fantasy author based in America. Growing up she moved around a lot, never staying in the same location very long. After graduating, she kept on with the rhythm of moving around and starting over. Eventually, she found a place to call home in South Carolina, where she lives with her two rescue dogs, two cats, and long-term partner. She enjoys writing more high stakes fantasy and adding a twist to some of the lore that you all may have grown up knowing. When she isn’t writing she can be found reading, drawing, or diving into a board/video game.
Fate of Alandria is her debut novel and book one in her series Fate of Alandria.
A whirlwind of magic, secrets, and romance. Like a spicy Harry Potter I didn’t know I needed. And (either for better or worse) I will never think of plants the same 😂
This book captivated me from the beginning. There were definitely some moments I was waiting for things to happen, and it was easy to catch on to things but still have some twists and turns to the book.
I also enjoyed the level of world building was bearable. It wasn’t too much world building that you got bored but enough to make sense of the story.
The ending definitely took me by surprise but it makes me look forward to the next book.
“They get to forget about me, but I have to live with this ache in my heart.”
THIS BOOK HAS DESTROYED ME in the best way possible. I’m not eloquent enough to write a proper review (I can write books but not reviews apparently), but let me just tell you what a fantastic debut novel this is. I was hooked from the start. I’m VERY picky about books and within the first pages I can tell if I’m going to vibe with a book or not.
I totally vibed with this one. Yes, it is 🌶️ in parts, probably a little more spice than I’m used to reading, but it didn’t feel like spice just for the sake of having it in the book, more like it actually drives the plot forward and really anchors what the characters feel for each other. I did blush at certain parts because I am WEAK for the MMC.
I absolutely love Sage. She isn’t your typical sassy FMC with so-called witty banter (I can’t stand that kind of banter, but that’s probably because I’m dead on the inside). She’s such a well-written character - not flawless by any means, which is why I love her so much. Perfect FMCs who are super OP make me roll my eyes until they almost get stuck in the back of my head. No, Sage is absolutely perfect in my eyes. She has this inner strength and she also learns how to use physical strength to her advantage. She grows a lot in this story, and I LIVE FOR IT.
Now, let’s talk about Hassian. 👀👀👀 I’m going to talk about him with quotes.
“I’d much like the sight of you on your knees before me.” SIR. Why you teasing her (and us readers) like that?? Carry on. I’m listening.
The way he calls her ‘Princess’. It could literally make butter melt. Gahhhhh, I love him so much.
“You walked into this realm with a burden no one deserves to shoulder, but know this, you will never be alone, not as long as I breathe.”
This man and his words? S W O O N!!
Okay, not going to lie, the ending broke me. It took my heart, ripped it out of my chest and hit it with a sledgehammer multiple times. Yessss, I love it when a book does this to me.
If I could rate this book 10 stars I would. In fact, I would rate it even higher. 💜 I need the second book immediately.
When Sage tumbles into the life she's been destined for, she experiences with the readers the new culture and history of her people. She's at the center of a prophecy given before her birth and must navigate this new life she's never known.
Truly my favorite part of this book was the villain. I am such a sucker for a good villain and Fate of Alandria has it. All of his chapters, I was completely enthralled and wanted more, more, more!
The MMC I found to be hilarious. He is so open and forward and I really liked that he cut the bulls*t and just got down to, "We're meant to be, so let's be."
The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but one that's also a bit of a relief! And honestly, plant shampoo is fine by me 😂
Unfortunately, this book was not of my hopes. The fmc seemed very needy. The spice sceens seemed forced. The dialog from the fmc was hard to understand if she was narrating or thinking. There were a lot of unnecessary descriptions. There was too much information given within the first 20% of the book, and it really left nothing to the imagination throughout the rest of the book. Then the ending made no sense to me, so I don't feel that the 2nd book is gonna be any better.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Ashley Eileen for letting me read Fate of Alandria early! I absolutely loved this book - it was such a great read! I was a bit skeptical at first because it started with an arranged marriage, but oh my gosh, it turned into this amazing story about fated mates and I was totally hooked!
I loved getting to know the characters and watching them grow and develop throughout the book. The writing was so engaging and the pacing was perfect - I couldn't put it down! And that cliffhanger ending? Wow, I did not see it coming! I'm dying to know what happens next.
Overall, I'm giving Fate of Alandria a big fat 5 stars! It's a must-read for anyone who loves romance. Trust me, you won't regret it!
Fate of Alandria is about Sage, who is the granddaughter of the High Lord of Alandria. It was prophesized that she should either be the realm's savior or its undoing, so she was whisked away to the Other Realm at birth and hidden by magic until she became of age to study at Aliria Academy. To do this, Sage was kept in the dark about her true identity and the life awaiting her in Alandria.
Sage is fae and she's not the only royalty at Aliria Academy. In fact, we also have Hassian who she has been betrothed to since birth. And even though she wants nothing to do with him, there is a bond between the two of them that can't be ignored.
For me, the story of discovery felt too rushed. I would have loved to have spent more time with Sage as she tried to absorb that everything she has ever known was a lie. Her world was turned upside-down and she is being hurried away to study magic she didn't even know existed but her turmoil isn't really fully expanded upon especially compared to the magnitude of the revelation. I felt that too much was revealed to Sage too soon and all at once.
I did enjoy getting to learn about the various elemental magic, discovering Gaiwen, and literally gasping out loud over the last line of the book!
I couldn't put it down! The story dives into a richly imagined world filled with monsters, dangerous men, and a prophecy that sets the stage for an epic adventure.
Sage, the granddaughter of the High King of Alandria, is a compelling protagonist. From the moment she's born, it’s clear that her life is intertwined with destiny, and watching her navigate her newfound magical abilities is both exciting and relatable. The way she uncovers secrets and forges friendships adds depth to her character, making her journey all the more engaging.
The plot is well-paced, balancing action and character development nicely. The world-building is fantastic, painting a vivid picture of the realm and its complexities. However, I felt that some aspects of the prophecy could have been explored a bit more, as I wanted to know even more about the implications of her destiny.
Fate of Alandria is Ashley Eileen’s debut novel and she nailed it! It was very entertaining, full of action, betrayal, secrets and I enjoyed every page.
Sage is thrust into a world of magic and a prophecy that will either make her the realm’s saviour or their undoing. She may have doubts about herself but her character is smart, strong and determined and I’m rooting for her.
Loved everything about Hassian, from his cheeky flirting to his protectiveness to his sweet side. He’s definitely worthy of making my book bf list.
There’s more to our villain Gaiwen than meets the eye. To my own surprise, I’m actually wanting to find out more about him.
The cliffhanger was 😳but the epilogue gave me some hope and I’m looking forward to reading more of this world.
This fantasy novel was not for me. A mix of Harry Potter and Avatar: The Last Airbender. The novel as a whole was okay, but the story was very slow due to overly descriptive monologues about information that did not have any importance to the main plot. There was so much information given in the first sixty percent of the book that made the ending anti-climatic, and it was over-hyped throughout the book only to be about ten to fifteen pages long and mainly focused on the FMC and the Villain arguing. To me, the FMC was kind of flat and emotionless other than an immediate obsession with the MMC and constantly whining about how she "didn't ask to be removed from her previous life" and "everything is so confusing because she didn't grow up with magic".
“Fate of Alandria” by Ashley Eileen. 5 I, thoroughly, enjoyed this book and I’m, already, looking forward to the next one, to learn what is next for Sage. I loved the start in “our world” and all the little hints as to what was to come for Wren/Sage as everything she thought was the truth of her life, was thrown into confusion. I journeyed with Sage as she learned more about her changing life and her role in this new life. I enjoyed Ashley Eileen’s world building and enjoyed her characters especially Sage and her friends; Kira, Hassian, Gaiwen and her grandfather who she has yet to properly meet. The story is dark, in places, counterbalanced by some lighter moments, and all this is before a cliffhanger ending! A debut novel? Wow! I can’t wait for more!
Some of the fantasy genres "greatest hits" brought into a new world for adults struggling to understand their place in the universe. I loved how the author used classic fantasy tropes in her work. Our lead character, Sage, is thrown into a destiny that upends all she knew about her own past and family. I enjoyed following Sage's journey as she learned of prophecy and magic while finding her role in the world of Alandria. The academy setting was perfect for this story, as it allowed the reader to learn alongside Sage. The supporting characters were all interesting as well and I can't wait to learn more about them. I found the section from the villain's POV to be an especially interesting read. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
A mix between steam punk, Harry Potter, and Realm Breaker. Definitely an easy but interesting read. I do wish it had more, very fast paced. Sage has been secreted away for 18 years until her magic came of age, she is thought to be the one who can save Alandria from the blight and from her dreadful grandfather who currently sits as high king (by marriage). Will she succeed with the help of her new friends and fated love? Or will she disappoint everyone who has silently waited and prayed to the nines for her return?
Oh what ending was this, so suspenseful and exciting
Such an amazing world full of magic everywhere, lost of action, suspance and full of different beings, with diferent parts to play that will keep you on your toes. I started soon enjoying the book and as the pages turned and the world and story developed and we get to discovered more, the more I wanted to read and the more excited I was about what would come next and in the way the story was stoped ohhhh how can I wait so long for the next one.
This very much had Harry Potter meets the Fate Winx girls. I liked the overall story, it was very interesting to see the betrayal and background story of her mother. I do feel like the story could have had more of Sage getting use to her new environment, and the ending felt very anticlimactic. Like it was very built up for this bad guy, and the ending was like what just happened? However, I am excited to see where this story will go from here.
This is a spicy magical mates story. Sage has her world turned upside down when she discovers she is a princess and go through a portal to another realm.
What I loved about this book was the world building and descriptions of the realm and elemental powers.
If you love spicy fated mates with magical /elemental elements this is the book for you.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved how it turned from an arranged marriage to fated mates. I loved learning about character and seeing them develop. I wasn't expecting that cliffhanger. I can't wait to see where this story will go.
I got this as an ARC!! I absolutely loved this book!! I absolutely loved the characters! The only characters I hate are Sage’s grandfather and Professor West. I absolutely loved the way Hassan treated Sage. I can’t wait for book 2!!
ARC read I love the Pronunciation list and the map 18 years ago was a sad reading knowing your child fate. I know Wren mom struggle lol when I had my Afro my hair always had some pieces of natural attach in it. I wasn’t expecting that turn at the end of chapter 1. This story is really good that cliffhanger at the end mouth drop to the floor 😱🫨😦
