The Rock Gods #3

Make You Mine

Rate this book
Cooper Rand is the high-energy drummer for his band Ivory Tower. Everyone is drawn to Cooper; which makes him the go-to party guy for those lucky enough to call him friend. He loves the lifestyle that comes along with being a rock star and feels perfectly suited for the role. He is also a professional when it comes to the hook-up, unwilling to stick around long enough to allow emotions to enter into what he's doing. He's lived his entire life 'in the moment' and it isn't until he meets Jayson that he begins to question the direction of his life and if he's been missing out on something truly special all this time.

Jayson Keller has spent most of his life living on the island of Martha's Vineyard working as a builder. Living on a small, conservative island also has Jayson working overtime to keep his sexual orientation secret. He has mastered the art of hiding in the closet, but he doesn't want it to be a forever thing. Jayson always said if the right man came along he'd happily leave the safety of his closet and live openly as a gay man. The problem is, living where he does limits his partner options and finding someone worth coming out of that closet for seems an unlikely prospect.

A party at Alex Metcalf's island estate brings Cooper and Jayson face-to-face. Lightning strikes hot and fast and suddenly their lives take a whole new path. Has Jayson finally met a man worth leaving his self-imposed closet? Have a couple of hours spent alone with Jayson opened Cooper to the idea there is a deeper meaning to life beyond the stage and the value of a committed relationship? But, a bigoted family and the rock star lifestyle could ruin everything and keep both men searching for what was standing right in front of them: a soul mate.

It was good, but just too long. I kept thinking, ok this is the end.

But no. I'd still have several more chapters to go. So I'd sigh, and think ok, it shouldn't take too much longer. But it did. *sigh*

There were also editing errors, which pissed me off. If I'm paying freakin money for your product, then the least you could do is make freakin sure that it's in freakin perfect condition before you put it out there for freakin sale! GOD! It's just getting old and I'm sick of buying books that are unfinished and poorly edited. Get your shit together people and do it right for fuck's sake.

Anyway, off the soapbox.

I did like the story. Cooper and Jayson were sweet together and I actually really appreciated the fact that they talked to each other and respected their relationship enough to work things out instead of falling victim to the old "misunderstanding". I really loved Cooper. He was adorable.

The sex scenes were hot, yes. But they did get repetitious and there were a ton of them.

I think that's it. It was a good story, but the editing sucked and it was too long. I liked the characters and I thought they had good chemistry. But the sex scenes almost overwhelmed the story.

That's all I got.

I liked this a lot better than the first book in the series. The editing is still pretty bad, and the headhopping was quite awful, but I loved that these guys at least tried to communicate. No useless misunderstandings or wasted, relationship breaking angst. There was a lot of sex, but at least I really felt the chemistry, so it took a long time before I started skimming.

Well this was a very nice, very sweet, very steamy and especially very very long story. I liked it but like many others here, I think it was too long. It would have been nice if there had been a bit more interaction with other people, especially the other bandmembers. It was mostly about just them and what they were thinking. The same thoughts over and over again, and to me it got a bit boring. It's also very light on angst and drama. Sure there is a fight or two, but they are resolved within 2 pages. So there wasn't a lot going on. It was quite heavy on the sugar...I think i have some cavities now. There is also not a lot about the band. No performances, fans, media or whatever.

I did however love the steam in this one. Very very nice and always a plus for me....both men bottom ;)

I did not read the previous books in this series and I had no problem following the storyline. I do think that if you read the previous books, you would have more knowledge about all the characters, but that's just logical.

3 stars from me....for the steam...and I did really like Cooper...

This was a well written enjoyably sweet story.
The main characters Coop and Jay, are a Rock Star and contractor respectively, and one of the things I have been enjoying in this series of books, is that the Rock star's have been the characters who have been more patient and consistent in their feelings.

Their relationship develops and any conflict is dealt with, by them discussing it ( No dramatic flouncing off and leaving )

There is some angst from outside factors, and you get to see characters from previous books, best of all for me at the moment, no one gets kidnapped !

The author tells the story in such a way that , I felt invested in the MC's and had to devour the book, to see what happened. Once they reach their HEA, I liked that there was no abrupt ending, and although there is no epilogue the book continued for a couple of chapters to let you bask in their happy place for a while.

I will definitely be continuing with this series.

I liked this better than Book 1 but alas "the curse of the too many pages" afflicted this book too. I can confidently say that this 400+ page book should've been 200 pages or even less. It was just too long with nothing actually happening.

We knew these two were in love by the first quarter of the book so, I asked myself what on earth was in all the pages left. I got my answer: sex, mundane thing, sex, mundane thing, sex, sex, sex then some drama with the family, more sex, a wedding I wasn't remotely interested in(because say what you may but that hypocrite Chase CHEATED, and I couldn't stand Alex too sooo yeah) , sex and o look, more sex.

Needless to say I totally skipped the sex scenes and even had to start skipping the mundane narration about their daily lives.

Also, the POV narration in this was as bad as the Book 1 and gave me another headache.

Why did I finish this you may ask? Simple answer: Cooper. I just loved that guy! He made me laugh and any character who can achieve that deserves to have their books finished.

5 ROCK AROUND THE COCK STARS!!

This was a great read, loved the simple love story and how both Cooper and Jayson were so caring and gentle with each other's feeling, but then the sexy time gets thrown in and omg! If they weren't bonking each other's brains out they were whanging off thinking about each other and it was hot!

So whang, bang thankyou mam! Next please.....!

Once again thanks Di for the rec :)

Love Cooper and Jayson

This is the third installment in the Rock Gods series and they just keep getting better and better! At the end of the the second book, Take What You Want, it's clear that something is gonna start brewing with Jayson and Cooper. Oh, and it does.....
Jayson Keller is Chase and Danni's good friend who meets Ivory Tower's drummer, Cooper Rand, at a party at Alex Metcalf's (fellow band mate and Chase and Danni's lover). Sparks fly immediately between these two, and there starts their east coast, west coast long distance romance. To watch their relationship unfold as they both come to terms with how to move forward, Jay and Coop learn the meaning of trust, patience, honesty, loyalty and true, undying love for each other instead of dwelling on any of their angst and uncertainty that could ruin them....the result is breathtaking....beautiful and sexy....the love scenes were scorching hot.....
The thing I love about Ann Lister is that she creates all of her characters to be vulnerable and believable...every one of their feelings become your feelings as well....and, this is a biggie for me, I love how the acknowledgement and importance of ignorance and bigotry towards gay people is brought forth and dealt with in all her stories. Jayson's step-father, Ron, tops the charts with his hatred and verbal abuse towards Jayson. Jayson has a step brother, Eric, 17, with whom he's very close with and of course old Ron thinks he's gotta put a stop to that....you know, because Jayson's gonna turn him gay....things escalate badly between Eric and Ron which leaves Jayson no choice but to head back east to defend his poor brother. Jayson takes matters into his own hands in an intelligent and kick ass way....I also loved how Alex hired exclusive photographers for his, Chase and Danni's commitment ceremony and will have all of the proceeds from these pics sold, going to his favorite charity for anti-bullying of gay kids in schools....now THAT is keeping it real!!!!
I hated to say goodbye to Jayson and Coop but at least I know they're in good hands with each other...! Next up, I say Wheland!!! And remember...love is love....it doesn't matter who we love but how deeply we feel...sigh.....loved this book so much.....love you Ann Lister❤️❤️❤️!!! You rock!!!

This was book 3 in the "Rock Gods" series. Cooper Rand the drummer for Ivory Tower is a happy go lucky guy that everyone likes he's the life of the party. Cooper loves his life he doesn't do relationship he does hook ups. When Jayson Keller runs into Cooper at Alex Metcalf's island estate lighting strikes. Jayson also doesn't do relationship he's still in the closet being from a small island and the the fact that his stepfather is a bigot has lead him to believe that he will never have a long term relationship. This was a really good book both of these characters are feeling each other but they both believe that the other only wants to have a hook up. Cooper has to deal with his band mate who hooked up with in the past and is jealous that Cooper has found happiness. Jayson comes out to his family and his stepfather took it like he knew he would. Jayson who is best friends with Chase also has to help them when Danni leaves and needs a place to stay with leaves Alex also leaves. These two have some really hot sex scenes. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking for to reading the next book in this series.

I generally liked this third installment in the Rock Gods series.

Cooper and Jayson met in the second book, so there is some overlap. It’s nice seeing their relationship development from Chase’s viewpoint in one book, then both their POVs in this one.

This book has less relationship angst than the others, though since this is both men’s first adult relationship, there are some learning curves. I like that for the most part, they communicate well, and even when there’s a breakdown, both are committed to making things right.

This book we get to visit all the characters from book # Fall For Me and book #2 Take What You Want. Ann did an amazing job with this story we get to meet and grow with Cooper and Jayson . Jayson lived most if his life on Martha's Vineyard living in The Closet afraid to come out with his sexuality, that is until he met Cooper Rand the drummer for one of the biggest bands out Ivory Tower.
Ann takes us on a journey with this book that will have you from page 1 . I highly recommend this 5 star read. I could not out this book down once I started it

This book was great. I loved the intense instant connection between Cooper and Jayson. They were so good together and it was nice to see them so committed. Eve when they fought they didn't give up on each other and were determined to work it out. So rare in a relationship these days.

This series has been on my TBR pile for a while, and I've decided to start them. I like them, but I am finding them really hard to get through which is disappointing me.
I enjoyed both Cooper and Jayson and like them together, I am just finding that these books are quite long and I find myself losing interest half way through. I think I'll take a break before starting the next one.

Loved these two, and this was my favourite in the series. However, on re reading it the threesome scene is really upsetting. Mainly because Jayson is so into it and takes so long to finally back off. Watching Cooper in pain while Jayson is so turned on really turned me off. I lost a lot of respect for Jayson, and wondered how much he really loved Cooper and would be faithful. It went too far in my book.

Wow! This book does not disappoint! It had everything!! Two very highly anticipated weddings!! That I was very happy about! A very beautiful love story between two people trying to come to terms with it. A little drama… Not a lot. This book was just right… For me anyways.

Jayson & Cooper are like night & day.
Jayson is a construction worker that owns his own company. Lives his life very privately and not in the open.

Cooper is the drummer from Ivory Tower. He’s lived his whole life in the fast lane. Never really had to answer to any one. He’s lived his life like that for so long. That when he finally met someone who can finally ground him. It through him for a loop!

It through both of them through a loop! What started out as only hook-up’s. Turns into something way more than both of them ever anticipated.

When Cooper bumps into Jayson (literally)…& they both look into each other’s eye’s. They both knew there was something different about each other.

The sexual attraction between Cooper & Jayson was out of this world! Omg! I loved it! The author did a very good job making you feel what they felt!!! The build up.. Anticipation of seeing each other. It was off the charts!!

I liked the the pace of how everything unfolded for Jayson & Cooper. It wasn’t one of those look into your eyes or spend one night with them & they are already saying I love you’s. They author build you up to all that. I loved that!!

I was also really happy when my favorite couple Ryan & Dagger were in this story!!! & Alex, Chase, & Danni. They were in it.. But didn’t take over the story! It was just perfect.

This book touches on a very serious subject about not being excepted for who you are.
I will never understand why anybody would even care about who you are with. Boy boy or girl girl.. Or in a 3 couple relationship. Who cares. It’s so dumb.
Just let people live their own life’s and you live your own lives. It’s as simple as that!!

I’m so looking forward for the next book in The Rock Gods series!!!

At a party hosted by Alex, the lead singer of Ivory Tower, Cooper the drummer for the same band crashes into Chase's best friend Jayson. Coop and Jay are immediately attracted to one another and they share a steamy encounter on the beach, but although over the next couple of weeks the two men cannot get the other off their minds, they have to contend with the fact that they live on opposite coasts. Can they find a way to make it work?

I'll be honest, I've read this book or at least portions of it numerous times. I absolutely love Jayson and Cooper. They are one of my favorite couples of all time. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is or why they are special, they just are. I love their story and throughout each subsequent book in the series, I look forward to the glimpses of them.

Below is my original review and as you can see, there are things I would have liked that I didn't get, but for me, it's still a 5 star read!

Holy HOTNESS Batman... This book was steaming hot. The chemistry and sexual attraction between Cooper and Jayson was electric!

So, here's what I loved.
Cooper and Jayson had awesome chemistry(I know I said this already, but it needs to be said again)
The sex was Hot, and plentiful, but not overwhelming. These guys were sweet with each other, and talked through their problems, instead of the normal misunderstanding, I'm leaving, I'm going to be pigheaded conflicts most romances have.

What I didn't like..
I thought this book was realllly loooong.. It was stuffed with a bunch of fillers, when scenes that could have been added weren't. I wanted to see how the band reacted to Cooper coming out. How Jayson's best-friend, accepted who he was dating. I also wanted to see more interaction with Jayson's brother. I wanted to know how the band's fans reacted to Jayson and Cooper being together.

Some parts of this book were repetitive. The inter-dialogue of both men was repeated a number of times.

I know there are some negatives here, but I really did love this book and these guys. Immensely enjoyable and highly recommended!

Rock God, Cooper Rand. What can I tell you about this man? He is irresistible for starters, he's the fun guy to be around. His partying lifestyle is lively to say the least but there does become a time in everyone's life when they start to think about more. Until Cooper met Jayson the word 'more' didn't even enter his vocabulary.

Jayson Keller is Chase's best friend, you might have met him in book two 'Take What You Want' and if you haven't, boy do you need to read that story. Jayson met Cooper at a party being hosted by the awesome Alex who you can also read about in book two. They strike up a friendship, friends with benefits some might say. God this book was hot, how the pages didn't burst into flames while I was reading is a mystery because it certainly was too hot to handle.

Cooper has had endless hook ups, living the Rock Star lifestyle to it's fullest, partying, drinking, smoking, women, men, totally not choosey. Him and Wheland liked to play around. When Cooper's way of thinking starts to change, Wheland does not make it easy for him.

Cooper and Jayson become real close both thinking of a future but then unsure of what the other is thinking. Life has not been easy for either of these guys and Jayson is still dealing with a lot. Cooper wants to be there for him when things go bad but Jayson hasn't quite grasped the concept of being in a relationship yet. Mistakes are made, people get hurt and only true love can survive.

This was a passionate story filled with love, friendship and some seriously HOT sex. Every time I read another book from the Rock Gods series, I think, oh I love him and this is the best book by far but in reality they are all amazing and I couldn't just choose one.

This is a must read for all M/M Romances lovers, nobody throws out passion like the Rock Gods.

5 STARS ISN'T ENOUGH FOR THIS BOOK!!!!

I can't praise Ann or her series The Rock Gods enough. This has to be by far one of the best M/M series I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Ann doesn't just write a story she brings it to life. From the story lines that captivate you to the characters that pull you in each book feels like coming home to family. This time we visit Cooper Rand and Jayson Keller's story.

Cooper and Jayson first met in Take What You Want (The Rock Gods #2) where they had instant chemistry. Both of these men in the past have hooked up with both men and women in the past but now they are only involved with men. Neither Cooper or Jayson have ever been in a relationship before. They start off as hook ups but then emotions become involved. Emotions that were already there just not being acknowledged. Cooper and Jayson have many obstacles to overcome if they want to reach a place of happiness, love, and contentment in their relationship.

One of my favorite things about this series is that we also get to catch up on what's going on in the lives of the characters from the previous books. If you haven't read this book yet I recommend doing so now. You will be blown away by this love story. Though this book can be read as a stand alone I do recommend reading Fall For Me (The Rock Gods #1) and Take What You Want (The Rock Gods #2) first. This way you will be better acquainted with some of the characters.

Thanks Ann for another fabulous story. I can't wait for Wheland's story and my next trip home. <3

This is the first book that I have read from Ann and also from this series. This is book #3 in The Rock Gods series, and can be read as a stand alone.

I gave this book 5 stars.

This is Cooper and Jayson's story.
This is the first M/M story that I have ever read and I was a bit scared going into it. I didn't know what to expect, BUT OMG from the very first page I was like DAMN. This book is HOT!!! The love scenes were amazing. And they were sweet and loving and I felt like i was reading something that I shouldn't because it was so intimate. I felt like I was spying, I actually got butterflies a few times, and that is very rare for me. I COULD not put this book down, I started reading it knowing I had some things to do, but figured I would get a chapter in and then go and do what I had to do, but I go a 1/3 into the book before I could put it down and go and do my chore. I kept saying oh one more chapter I gotta see what they are going to do. If you have never experienced a M/M book you need to give this one a try. I am sure to read the other two books in this series. I can't wait to catch up and see what is going on with the other characters. Thank you Ann for a great book! I look forward to reading the rest of your work. <3

Beautiful True Love Story!! Ann has done an amazing job with this series. I've come to love all the characters and the emotional bonds between them. The story line has been strong through the first 3 books and look forward now to reading the 4th. The sex is Hot and the relationships that have been formed are so real and romantic. This particular story involves Jayson. Chase's best friend, and Cooper, the drummer of the band, Ivory Tower. They meet at a party that Alex, the leader of the band, had given and an instant connection formed. It took a few weeks to really get things started between them, but it happened. This book showed that True Love can surpass anything that life can throw at you and these two had their share with Jayson's family and Cooper's past hookup history. This was a wonderful story of two totally different gay men who found each other with hopes of forever. If you love MM Romance you will love this one along with the rest of the series. Must Read. Loved it! This novel takes place over a year, beginning with the party at Alex's Martha's Vineyard house. We get to see bits of Alex, Danni and Chase's implosion and Alex's accident from Cooper's and Jayson's POV. There wasn't so much of it that it felt like I was rereading the same story at all. Just a hint of it all.

Jayson and Cooper navigate a relationship, pretty well, actually, for a couple of guys that have never really attempted such a thing. Neither were perfect and both of them made mistakes along the way, but they do ok. Cooper knows his reputation means he has more to prove in the monogamy and commitment department, so he does everything he can to reassure Jayson of his feelings. It's very sweet.

Really more like 3.5. I liked this one better than the first in the series but this author needs to get a freaking editor. Seriously, I don't know how much they cost but the amount of errors is ridiculous. So here we have Cooper from the band and Jayson, Chase's friend. They meet at a party, start seeing each other, have some smexy times....you know. Neither thinks it's a serious relationship until it is. These two actually talk to each other so any misunderstandings were resolved fairly quickly without any of that unwarranted drama. A little family drama, a little band mate drama, just enough to keep things interesting. I do feel it was a bit long though. I kept thinking it would end but it didn't!

These have always been good books. A good series, they are full of emotion and great sex. The characters are a little difficult to tell apart. They all seem to have close to the same personalities. I will work the male readers that this is more of the female-type gay book. All romance and, babe and I love yous. I happen to like those so it was all good for me. As with all of the Rick a God series, they could use a little editing because they are a touch too long. Don't get me wrong, ai do enjoy the reads.

This was a nice somewhat unexpected book. There isn't a huge amount of angst and drama. There isn't any worry about "OMG the rockstar is GAY!!!!" or trouble with the press. It actually turned out to be a somewhat sweet romance with small bumps along the way to the HEA for them. There were a few over the top moments where I was thinking "overreact much" but they didn't lead to huge fights or breakups so they in the end didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book. It is a little long but I found myself enjoying the time I spent with Jayden and Cooper.

Gave up at 86% I found it boring and the communication very sappy (who talks like that every time they have a conversation) I absolutely adored the first two books there was loads going on and things to work through but this couple were together from very early on and have been way to happy for way too long.. I need a bit of drama to keep me interested and the family issue was not enough to keep me interested .. Not sure who book 4 will be about but wheleand could have a more interesting story
