An accessible and informative dip into our mnásome history by Kunak McGann, author of A Hundred Words for Grand, Red Rover, Red Rover! and with Sarah Cassidy, The A to Z of an Irish Christmas, The A to Z of Being Irish, Ahh … That's Gas and Irish Mammy in Your Pocket.
The perfect stocking filler for the feminist in your life!
An excellent little book crammed with achievements of Irish women - one entry for every day of the year - that will fit in your coat pocket! There is something here for everyone as a huge variety of women are covered, the activists, artists, writers and so on. Most of the women included were absolutely new to me. The book also provides a compelling introduction to Irish feminism and activism. Every secondary school in Ireland should have a copy of this celebration of Irish women in its library.
Part diary, part history lesson. Interesting and well researched snapshots of the lives of lesser known Irish women. Not convinced by the title, but this didn't detract from the originality of concept and detail included.
