It wasn't until she watched her best friend find the man of her dreams that RayAnne Hill realizes there's a part of her missing. She knows the empty space can only be filled by finding her own true love, complete with kids and the white picket fence. Fear of letting someone in stops her cold, and it's much bigger than just finding Mr. Right.
James Shaw moved away from Kentucky and the family business to chase his own goals, settling in the small town of Kimmswick, Missouri. His business is succeeding, now he's ready to complete his life with a wife and kids. One night, one look and he's found her. RayAnne is everything he's been searching for.
As hard as James has fallen for RayAnne, can he be enough to help her overcome her worst nightmare? Or will he decide he can't wait forever, and walk away to find happiness?
Born and raised in Texas, Jennah is a transplant to Missouri long enough ago she should probably consider that her hometown. But she will forever be a Texan. She loves to write any story that will make a reader smile, laugh, and maybe even cry (although you won't ever hear her admit that she cries). Whether the next story she writes is contemporary, urban fantasy, LGBT, or whatever other crazy idea she comes up with, there will always be love and romance in the midst of trials and turmoil.
When she's not writing you can find her on Twitter, with her family, or buried in a book trying to escape reality for just a minute.
The plot to this story is quite simple. Boy likes girl, girl reluctantly likes boy but won’t make a commitment for some mysterious reason that she refuses to share.
I enjoyed this story and admired how the author finally found a way to make the female timid about falling in love yet strong enough to know what she wanted. I get tired of the push and pull in today’s romances and this author did a great job at having Ray pull back when she needed to but always open to walk back to James again and make her dreams come true. She was able to tell him what she needed and expected and he was strong enough to admit he needed to learn and what was important to him. Ray was trying very hard to take her best friend’s advice and just be herself out in public. We can see that there is something holding Ray back from just letting go and having fun, to show who she really is. She is carrying secrets that she isn’t willing to let go of unless she has a strong reason to. James had to convince her that she could decide what was best for her without her best friend’s advice. James moved to Missouri to find his own way. With a ranch that he now owns he raises and trains horses. His family he left behind is still important to him, but his life revolves around his horses until he can find that woman who will turn his world upside down and give him the family he dreams of. He sees Ray and instantly thinks she could be the one. After a dance the first night he says something that has her running. James isn’t comfortable with just letting her go so he seeks the help of Ray’s “big brother” and boyfriend to her best friend for help. Ray agrees to give James a chance but in the beginning she is going to have to understand her place, it comes after his horses. Their love story takes many turns and twists, but each event is important in the development of them as a couple. Where one door closes, the other is willing to reopen it and give another chance until they find the one thing that is missing……..trust. I enjoyed this story so much. It wasn’t the intense story that we find but it was strong enough to capture my emotions as I watched each of them be hurt, confused and even make mistakes. The forgiveness and need to make this relationship work was what fueled this couple and made my heart go out to each of them. I would recommend this story to any reader who would like an afternoon read that will give you the sense of love.

This book was a roller coaster of a ride of emotional feelings, longings, wants, desires and denials between two people, and what happens. This is the story of Ray Anne, or Ray as she is called, and her Cowboy James. James is a man that has moved away from his family to make his own way, and he starts a horse farm. James feels like his life has finally started to come together. He has a great horse ranch, a beautiful home and property and now all he wants out of life is to find a good woman to fall in love with, settle down with and to get married and have some children. Ray is a young beautiful woman, who is very lonely and although she would love to have a man, she is to afraid to let herself meet someone and fall in love just to risk all the hurt of losing that person. When Ray was very young her mother was driving them somewhere and they were in a terrible accident that claimed the life of her mother, and seeing her Dad turn into an alcoholic while she grows up reinforces that fear to never love to only lose. Ray misses her Mom terribly, and her Dad just is not there for her as she is growing up, as he is wrapped up in his own memories, living in the past, with a broken-heart, with no hope for happiness ever again. Then Ray meets James. He turns her world upside down, she falls in love with him. This is their story and what happens. For James, "Ray did something to him, brought a part of him to life he hadn't realized lay dormant." For Ray, her feelings for James has her running scared, causing all kinds of emotional angst and terrible situations between them. For James it seemed for every positive step they took forward, they took two steps back, and Ray refused to open up and let James know what was going on with her, he does not understand what he is doing to upset her. James feels like he has found his future, and yet Ray has him so twisted up, he does not know what to think. You really need to read this book and see what happens between them and how things end up. I really liked this book, it was well written and I can't wait to read another book by Jennah. She has a great writing style and had me at page one! I rate this book with a big five shiny stars!
I was provide a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
First let me just say that this is the first book that I read from this author.
I just finish reading this book and I have to say I love it. Love the characters and love how the book turn out to be, I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it, I did not wanted to finish it, that's how much I love it, this is such a sweet romance book I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
The story begging with James he owns a ranch and his business is succeeding. James is ready to settle down, he wants a wife and kids, One night he goes to the bar and that was the nigh that he saw her, RayAnne ( A.K.A. ) Ray, James knew that she was the one, after he ask her to dance they felt the connection, but that was also when Ray got a little scare and left, after that night James knew that he wanted to know more about her, so he when to the only person that could give him information, after he show up at the body shop that is own by Ryker Talcott, James let him know what he wants Ryker decide to help him, after that phone call and Ray agreeing to go out with him, what they both did not expected was how much their life where gone change.
I love and enjoy reading this book, love this two characters and seeing how they get to fall in love, this is such a sweet love story that just makes you want more. Author Jennah Scott THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome characters and this amazing book love it.
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. Once I started reading there was no turning back. Jennah Scott did a wonderful job writing this book. Emotions were high while reading this. There were parts where I wanted to cry for the characters , but also parts where I was so happy for them. Of course there was also a few times I wished I could have reached into the story and slapped some since into one of them too.
RayAnne was the lead female character and times she really frustrated me, but without her issues I don't know if the book would have kept me turning pages like it did. She has to grow and learn to trust herself and not listen to everyone else around her and she also has to deal with her past in order to have a future.
James ( *SIGH*) is everything I would ever want in a guy with the added bonus that he is a cowboy! He knows exactly what he wants from life and his future however things may have to change in order for him and RayAnne to be together.
RayAnne brings out a side of James that he never even realized he had. He also does the same for her. While they explore the connection that they feel towards each other it turns into a battle of what the heart wants versus what the head thinks u should do. Which one will win?
This book is a perfect example of how sometimes the heart wants what it wants no matter if our heads want it or not. It also shows that sometimes we may have to compromise in order to be with the one we love. We can't let fear rule our lives. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
I was given a ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Where to start? I have read MANY of Jennah's books and loved them. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was cute and sweet. But it honestly was something I have seen be done many times. It didn't bring anything new I felt. James was a sweet and adorable cowboy and I loved him. Ray was a sweet woman and she had her own issues. They both did. Family is very important to James and he is looking for his perfect family. He is ready for a wife and children. Ray is not always sure what she wants. I liked the two characters, but at times I didn't feel a connection with them. Sometimes it felt odd and uncomfortable between them. Especially in the beginning. My favorite part was their date with the horses and him showing her around. It was adorable. These two go through a lot together and to try and be together. Some twists happen and it risks everything and their chances of being together and happy. Will they let those events ruin their chances together or will they rise above all of that? you will have to read to find out.
All in all it was sweet and I enjoyed it. I just don't think I would read it again, or thought it brought anything new or special to the table. If there was more, I may read it to see what happens. I will also continue reading Jennah and especially her m/m books. Love them. She is a wonderful writer.
