In the last book we got to see Jessie finding her long, lost brother Jaxon. He now works with the Shining Knight Protectors too. In this one we get to meet her first love Eli; he had given me a kiss for my 18th birthday and then he just walked away, and I have not seen him since.
Detective Elijah Kincaid is now a policeman with the Seattle Police Department and when one of his friends is killed, he calls on us for help. I guess there is an underground drug ring that he is trying to bust, and they have kids selling the drugs. This is what Jessie found herself in the middle of when she was in the foster care system growing up. Jessie and Jaxon grew up on the streets of Seattle and Eli was Jaxon's best friend. So, they were tasked to help him get around all of the red tape and solve the case. Jessie will be returning to a place where her old life ended and a new one began, but now she has her faith, a weapon and the team to lean on and help her through. We find out that Eli had gone into the service when he left Seattle and that the old feelings for Jessie are still there. He just has to convince her that he deserves and second change and for her to give him one.
This book is great from the very first page and will leave you wanting more. Maddie has another fantastic book on her hands. There is a lot of action in this book that will keep you wanting to see what happens next. I read the book in one sitting, not able to put it down.
I am proud to be a part of the ARC team for Maddie and will be happy to leave a review.
This Christian romantic suspense book is a page-turner. I love strong female lead characters and Jesse fits the bill. She's feisty and independent without being masculine. She knows when to be emotionally vulnerable. Elijah is a perfect match for her in that he is "alpha" enough not to let her boss him around, but also emotionally vulnerable enough to ask for a second chance. They're working on an interesting drug trafficking case involving youths (no spoilers!). The supporting cast are also funny, cool, well-rounded characters. I would recommend this book to romance lovers who also love action and intrigue. Both believers and non-believers can enjoy this storyline.
Side-note: The day that I read Jessie's come-to-Jesus testimony, my daily Bible reading plan included the exact Scripture that she said "led her to Christ." The e-book was stuck on that page for awhile. I had to mention it to those in my study group and reboot the program to get it to move forward. What a prophetic synchronicity!
PSALMS 18 For the choir director: A psalm of David, the servant of the Lord. He sang this song to the Lord on the day the Lord rescued him from all his enemies and from Saul. He sang:
1 I love you, Lord; you are my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. 3 I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies. 4 The ropes of death entangled me; floods of destruction swept over me. 5 The grave wrapped its ropes around me; death laid a trap in my path. 6 But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. 7 Then the earth quaked and trembled. The foundations of the mountains shook; they quaked because of his anger. 8 Smoke poured from his nostrils; fierce flames leaped from his mouth. Glowing coals blazed forth from him. 9 He opened the heavens and came down; dark storm clouds were beneath his feet. 10 Mounted on a mighty angelic being, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind. 11 He shrouded himself in darkness, veiling his approach with dark rain clouds. 12 Thick clouds shielded the brightness around him and rained down hail and burning coals. 13 The Lord thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded amid the hail and burning coals. 14 He shot his arrows and scattered his enemies; great bolts of lightning flashed, and they were confused. 15 Then at your command, O Lord, at the blast of your breath, the bottom of the sea could be seen, and the foundations of the earth were laid bare. 16 He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. 18 They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. 19 He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me. 20 The Lord rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence. 21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I have not turned from my God to follow evil. 22 I have followed all his regulations; I have never abandoned his decrees. 23 I am blameless before God; I have kept myself from sin. 24 The Lord rewarded me for doing right. He has seen my innocence. 25 To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity. 26 To the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd. 27 You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud. 28 You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. 29 In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall. 30 God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. 31 For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? 32 God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. 33 He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. 34 He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. 35 You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great. 36 You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping. 37 I chased my enemies and caught them; I did not stop until they were conquered. 38 I struck them down so they could not get up; they fell beneath my feet. 39 You have armed me with strength for the battle; you have subdued my enemies under my feet. 40 You placed my foot on their necks. I have destroyed all who hated me. 41 They called for help, but no one came to their rescue. They even cried to the Lord, but he refused to answer. 42 I ground them as fine as dust in the wind. I swept them into the gutter like dirt. 43 You gave me victory over my accusers. You appointed me ruler over nations; people I don’t even know now serve me. 44 As soon as they hear of me, they submit; foreign nations cringe before me. 45 They all lose their courage and come trembling from their strongholds. 46 The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted! 47 He is the God who pays back those who harm me; he subdues the nations under me 48 and rescues me from my enemies. You hold me safe beyond the reach of my enemies; you save me from violent opponents. 49 For this, O Lord, I will praise you among the nations; I will sing praises to your name. 50 You give great victories to your king; you show unfailing love to your anointed, to David and all his descendants forever.

Madison Love has done it again and given us another Romantic Suspense story in the Shining Nights Protectors series. This is Jessie and Elijah’s story. In book 4, you get a set-up and a picture of Jessie’s past, including the fact that she’s never been romantically involved or had a boyfriend.
Jessie and Elijah were best friends growing up after she was adopted by a former FBI agent who found her living off the streets finding food in the dumpster outside of his martial arts studio. Obviously, taking her in he also taught her Ju Jitsu and despite her petite size, she easily takes down any and every man or women who spars against her. The only one who has been able to get the upper hand is Elijah.
She gave her heart to him when she was 18 and he kissed her on the mat at the end of their match. After that he disappears without so much as a goodbye. Their reunion is one of the best Meet Cutes I’ve ever read (see second pic).
Jessie and Elijah work together to help solve a dangerous case in trying to crack down a drug operation that targets the Seattle school system. Jessie and Elijah still deeply love one another after 14 years apart. They don’t beat around the bush and talk through their hurts with understanding and forgiveness. Their kissing is enough to make any reader swoon but not going into overly sensual detail.
There is a heavy presence of Christian aspects throughout the whole book and they shine a light on the spiritual growth for each character. Jessie struggles with trusting God’s sovereignty, but in a very reckless way. She throws herself into danger steadfastly and without much thought of who she would hurt should she succumb to the dangers of her profession. She is Daring and resilient. But needs to understand that while God is sovereign He also gives us wisdom.
I won’t go into much more detail because you HAVE to go read the book. Madison Love is officially one of my favorite top 5 authors and I will read every book she has!
If you want to start at the beginning of the series, the first 4 books are current available for purchase on Amazon. Book 5 is just as good on its own as well and available TODAY!
I am so emotionally attached to these characters that I’m having serious drawbacks and I hope that Madison has plans for more books to add to his series.
I give this book a 5-star review and highly recommend it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Shining Knight Protectors series is one of my favorite series. This story is built around Jessie and Elijah. Elijah is a detective with the Seattle Police Department. He broke 18 year old Jessie's heart all those years ago when he kissed her and left her with no explanation. But when he requests assistance from Shining Knight, they do not hesitate to come to Seattle. Someone is using children to peddle drugs and someone is also killing cops. Something stinks in Seattle. The depravity is deep, and they do not know who they can trust.
This story will bring Jessie's past back into the light as they investigate this case. This could also be an opportunity for a second chance for Elijah and Jessie, but they will have to clear the air first.
Jessie is one of my favorite characters in this series. She is full of spunk, strong-willed and strong in mind, body and spirit. Let's suffice it to say that you better not underestimate this woman. She gives new meaning to dynamite comes in small packages.
This author always has a deep spiritual message in her books, and this one is filled with testimonies of lives changed because of the characters' faith. Madison Love always mixes in a little humor as well, which makes this book even more delightful to read. If you enjoy romantic suspense with a top notch cast of characters, you will enjoy this book and this entire series.
Thank you to BookSirens and the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The 5th of the Shining Knight series, and it's Jessie's turn to take the lead. She's going home to Seattle and having to face the man who broke her heart 14 years before, Elijah Kincaid. He knows he made a mistake as soon as he returned from his military tours and she was gone. Letting her go has haunted him, and her. Will they have a chance to reconcile the past? Can she forgive if she allows herself to understand? Can he move beyond Jessie and the team's deceptions? First, they'll have to determine who, is ultimately behind the upsurgance in youthful drug offenders. Is it the former child pusher turned billionaire do-gooder?🤷♀️ Oh, there's also cop killer on the loose.😲 The team pulls out all the stops as they race to solve the puzzle before another cop (maybe Elijah) falls and more drugs hit the streets.
This series is absolutely wonderful. Each book is a standalone, but they do in some ways build on eachother and are best enjoyed read in order. There is a strong presence of God in each book (just mentioning I'd this is an issue for you). For me it gives further depth and understanding to the characters and is a welcome addition. Thank you Madoson! I was very fortunate to receive an ARC of this book and volunteered my review. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
I did not want to put this one down! The adventure was fast paced, the banter between the characters (not just the MCs) was adorably hilarious, and the story line kept me guessing the whole way through. Jessie’s spunk and kindness both save the day and get her in trouble but make her even more endearing. Ethan is an upstanding detective who just wants to protect the vulnerable, save his team, and make up for the mistake he made. The men in her life care for Jessie and must figure out how to balance protecting her, challenging her, and keeping their own feet on the ground! I appreciated that many of the main characters were Christians and as they tried to figure out what was happening, they also were tested and grew closer to God. The bond this team has is strong and runs deep, which makes beautiful relationships and a bad day for the bad guys! If you’re looking for an engaging read with witty banter, fast action, plot twists, and a happy ending, this is the book for you!
Daring does include some spoilers from Resolute (Book 4) but you do not need to read Resolute to understand what is happening in Daring. It also ends with a peek into the next book, which makes me even more excited for Book 6!!!!
Wow! Another great read to the Shining Knight Series. Feel blessed to have read every book in this series and feel like I'm reading about family now. In this particular story there happened to be more Bible verses and quotes and Madison worked them in perfectly.
Jessie had to learn the hard way in realizing everything in life is prayed to God asking His desires, as we must never assume or guess that what God wants can only be found by our approaching and asking God's answer. Know what it's like to have an impulsive, get-go for the Lord personality and taking a step back and giving myself a few minutes breathing is very important to contemplate and talk with God to learn His desires.
Elijah, oh my to have such a strong faith in Christ and to live a life accordingly is not easy in this world. Even though a new character for the series, he was an easy like and won over the heart.
Figured part of the ending, but was surprised once again by your good writing the final ending was great and unexpected. I feel very blessed to have been able to read all of these books in the series and hoping to get my hands on your next story of Roger and Harper.

Another great story in the Shining Knight Protectors series! "Daring" is filled with humor, miracles, conspiracy suspicions, and so much more! Jessie & Elijah parted ways 14 years ago--right after he kissed her on her 18th birthday and then disappeared from her life. When they meet up again on a political conspiracy and drug ring case, can they pick up where they left off, or will they choose go their separate ways? I enjoyed Jessie's feistiness and Elijah's honesty when she crosses over the line on staying safe. Is she too fearless for her own good? And when they have to infiltrate a group of at-risk teens, I liked that Jessie cared enough to want to be truthful and a true "friend". As Jessie combines her family ties with her current coworker "family", it's a heartwarming mix and great balance to the many dangerous twists and turns. Ms. Love has a wonderful gift of portraying characters in a way that they become like friends to the reader. The danger, romance, and camaraderie kept me turning the pages into the late hours of the night. I highly recommend this book and this series! And maybe we'll learn more about Roger & Harper soon? Can't wait! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.
Jessie and Elijah grew up together and were as close as best friends as one point in their lives. Then, they fell in love. As Elijah knew that his path was uncertain, unpredictable, dangerous, and challenging -- he walked away to give Jessie a chance at a future. It's not until years later that they meet again and join forces to protect others from evil. As they reconnect, they make they have the opportunity to resolve the past. During this case, or operation, they decide to fight on the side of right, truth, and justice. Throughout the danger encompassing them, they right a few wrongs and show kids how the word and trust of a worthy adult is a truth that could set them free. I truly enjoyed Daring! It gave me time to remember that the Lord of ALL CREATION has enabled us to be sustainable as we are with trusted people by our sides. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars as a book I could barely put down. It was full of action, love, and second chances. The words may not have stated it, but this story reminded me of this one favorite thought: "The TRUTH will set you free"....
Elijah and Jessie were best friends and then on Jessie's 18th birthday, Elijah gave her a sweet and tender kiss and then he disappeared from her life. Now, 14 years later, Elijah needs the help of the Shining Knight Protectors and Jessie needs answers as to why he abandoned her.
As more danger and tragedy enters their world, they need answers to solve the murders that have occurred and protect those who are in danger now. During all of this, is it possible for Eli and Jessie to find the happy ending they both want or is that old history and not possible for them?
I have read a few of the books in this Shining Knight Protectors series and each has been a lot of fun to read and get to know the characters and their stories. Jessie had a really difficult childhood that has shaped her and who she has become. Eli's experiences have also made him who he is and he knows what he wants now.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Each book centers around one main couple with a HEA. Best if read in order as the characters interconnect throughout the series and there are multiple references to things that have occurred previously. This book centers around Jessie. Her pasts, with all three identities are about to collide. She's adjusting to the connections from before she was 3. Now she's returning to her hometown to help the guy she fell for in her teens, after her 2nd adoption. Unfortunately, the case involves the parts of her life as a child with her 1st adopted family. What happens when she has to tell Ethan about the entire tangled web? How does he react to seeing a dead friend alive with a new face? Will they be able to stop the masterminds before anyone else dies?.
I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the latest in the Shining Knight Protector series, involving one of the team members, Jesse. You don't have to read the books in order, but it does allow small character details and references to make sense. This is an easy book to read and I enjoyed that it was light-hearted and clean.
There is an interesting twist to this plot that was developed quite well, and I always enjoy a happy ending. The biggest problem I have is that most of the characters seem very similar to me. I didn't feel any real tension from clashing personalities. Everyone in the book is happy and outgoing, say what they mean, etc. It just felt a little flat to me. The characters were likable, but not as unique as in some other books.
Jessie is “Daring” to be bolder and better – no kidding, she can take anyone of her teammates down with her Jujitsu skills. Neither will she just chill when she can take matters into her own hands. But there is a problem when Elijah, a detective with the Seattle Police Department and an old flame, returns with strong feelings and a desire to protect Jessie. Together they are working a case involving murder, drugs and political corruption. Can Jessie also work through her hurt feelings and heal her heart to finally have the relationship of her dreams? This was an enjoyable read, well-paced and entertaining with interesting family/friend dynamics, as well as, helping street kids from going astray. It would have rated five stars without the religious aspects.…I received an opportunity to read and provide an honest and voluntary review.
Another great one from Madison Love. I am in love with the Shining Knight Protectors series. Daring doesn’t disappoint. You get to know Jessie and more about her past, how she grows and learns how to let people in.
I would recommend reading all the books in order.
In the first book you get to know all the characters and one by one you fall in love with the whole team.
I love that you can be part of each character’s faith journey. What a blessing to have a group of friends who support you through thick and thin, all having the same love for Christ.
This series is like a puzzle. Every book has a few puzzle pieces of all the characters, giving you a hint of what’s to come.
Can’t wait for the next book!!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
In our last book, Jessie found both faith and a brother. I loved how they both had solid ground in this book. The protective instincts of a brother plus those of our hero. In this second chance romance with childhood friends, we find ourselves searching through a tangled law enforcement web and multiple cases. The past comes to bear. With a brothers best friend trope, we get plenty of interaction between the three. This book has fighting and guns, drugs and kids on the street, past demons, protection, suspense, mystery, faith, found family, and more. This Seattle romance was fast paced and held a lot of emotion. I’m excited for the next one.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A wonderful series with internal light in the main characters. This time it is Jessie's turn to reveal hers and learn her background leading her to the light. When the team is called in to assist with the investigation into law officers murdered and the possible use of children in illegal activities, Jessie is reunited with her best friend, Elijah, after 14 years. Besides their working on the same case, they also need to work through the past and together in dangerous situations. Although I had pre-ordered this book, I was fortunate to receive an opportunity from Booksiren Reviews to be able to start reading earlier. Madison Love is not an author to miss out on good, clean Christian romantic suspense.
Continuing from the previous book, Jessie has finally re-unite with her brother, Jaxon. Due to her past relationship with Elijah, he requests for her help specifically on a drug trafficking case in Seattle. Hence, Jessie, Jaxon and the rest of the team end up joining forces with Elijah on the investigation.
With multiple threats and incidents happening, there is never a dull moment in the book. I also liked how Jessie and Elijah reconciled in a mature and calm manner, with minimal angst involved. It was the case of right person at wrong timing but 14 years later, hopefully it is now the right time.
I wished though that we had more sweet moments as the suspense took a larger portion of the plot than I expected.
Get ready for a thrilling adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book's numerous twists and turns will leave you awestruck and intrigued. Elijah and Jessie's relationship is a beautiful reminder that love can blossom in unexpected ways. Their first meeting is unforgettable, blending passion and humor. The dynamic among the investigators is truly inspiring, fostering a desire to be part of their talented team. Each character's quirks make them lovable and relatable. The mystery keeps you engaged, leading to a stunning climax. Throughout the story, the message of second chances and redemption shines through, highlighting the impact one person can have on another's life.

This is a fast paced suspense story with several twists and turns before the end. Eli is a detective in the Seattle PD. He is investigating the deaths of two officers who were investigating a ring of teenage kids selling drugs to other kids. He contacts a friend at Shining Knight Protection agency to aid him in the investigation covertly. He request a childhood friend specifically. Jessie last saw Elijah on her 18th birthday. He left without a word and she had not heard from him until this request. How can she not help him? Read the danger and suspense that surrounds their investigation to see if they will be able to finally find closure.
This series may be the death of me. There is no way I can start one of these books and not read it mostly straight through, meaning I lose a bit a sleep if I start it too late. Thankfully, I’m retired and don’t have to miss work to finish one. I will admit I had my suspicions about the villain from the beginning, but I’ll admit I was wrong. Well, partially. This book has love, romantic and family, reunions, deaths, humor, loyalty, and more than one twist and surprise. I’m just hope Madison Love doesn’t let only married readers read the next book. I might have to look for a mail order or fake groom.
Becca couldn't even live properly enjoying a pasta dinner due to her carbs. Elijah's heart belonged to Jessie even when he had to leave. Joe was another that did his best to do what was right after he got away from those controling him at a young age. When someone is rotten to the core they refuse to change when they are given a chance to change like Becca,Nan, and Dimitri. Now the last to find thier love is Roger but he is unwilling, but realizes his obligations to a friend. Excellant book keeping me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
This book is part of a series where the back stories and future loves of the characters have many links. The stories are full of action, secret service or special police or forces…. these guys are there for justice. The stories can be read as standalone books but it is more fun to follow the paths in chronological order. In Daring we see Jessie meet up with a guy who loved and kissed her on her 18th birthday and then disappeared. This is a nice story of how they work together or justice and find their live is still there….

Another great book in the Shining Knights series!! Jessie and Elijah’s story is well written with moments that are fun and light hearted while in the midst of some very serious and heart breaking situations. The ending was really good, I saw part of it coming but there was still a twist to it. Faith, prayer, forgiveness, and redemption through Jesus were all present. So glad I found this series!! I’m looking forward to the next book in the Series! Highly recommend!!
I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own,
Daring is my second read of the Shining Knight Protectors series. It was nice to revisit characters and story themes from the other book. As always these stories are fast pace from the first chapter. I really enjoyed finding out how Jessie came to be a part of the Shining Knight organization. She is a feisty, small packet with a huge heart. Elijah sees her as the one that got away. I really like how the author brought her and Elijah together. This is definitely a second chance trop meets opposites attract with all the good feels. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Jessie & Elijah made a sweet couple. I enjoyed the shared history which made their meet after all the time apart exciting. I enjoyed how Elijah handled the meet & the sass from Jessie. So many moments where lots of deep meaning & life lessons were embedded. The team with their bond, banter & love made it so very enjoyable as they sloved the investigation. Madison has given another brilliant addition to this series you no doubt will enjoy.

There is non-stop action, witty banter between all the characters, heart melting reconciliation between the main characters, family bonding, twist and turns you won't see coming, and daring escapes filling every page of this book.
I stayed up far later than was good for me, and only put the book down because I dropped my ereader on my face. Then I woke early to finish the last 3 chapters before the day really started. This book is a 'must read' from Madison Love.
I received a free advance copy of this story from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to share my review.
Another fantastic sequel in the Shining Knight Protector series!!! This one had me guessing and second guessing who was the villain! Twists at every turn! Completely enthralling!
A sweet quote that shows what an outstanding hero Elijah is . . . “I’m confident about many things in life, Jessie. You accepting an invitation to go out with me isn’t one of them. I know I hurt you with my actions in the past and don’t deserve a second chance to make it up to you, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting one.”

This series is so good! This is Jessie's story. Jessie is a firecracker. She is small but mighty. When she is reunited with her one and only love it isn't under the best of circumstances. Shining Knight Protectors is asked to join an investigation in Seattle of a drug ring using kids. As Jessie was once a part of the same kind of thing as a young girl she is the perfect girl to send in to help out. Elijah is the lead Detective on the case and is thrilled to have another chance with his one and only love, Jessie. There are several twists and turns in this book that makes it an exciting read.
I really enjoyed this book. Elijah and Jessie were given a second chance after fear and pride disrupted their road to a happy ending. Bothe characters had strong personalities and I loved that they talked to each other - even though it took 14 years - rather than assume. I enjoyed getting another glimpse and some of the other characters from previous books and I look forward to the next book. I am assuming it will be a romance between Roger and Harper :)
