The Nash Brothers #2

Wedding the Wide Receiver

Rate this book
A steamy Football, Marriage of Convenience, Sister’s Ex romance from Amazon Top Ten Bestselling author Lisa Suzanne.

I’m not really sure how I ended up married to my sister’s pro football player ex-fiancé, but my vicious hangover might have something to do with it.

It slowly comes back to me.

My family vineyard. A secret clause in my grandmother’s will. An allergic reaction. Benadryl. Way too much tequila.

And a wedding gown meant for someone else to wear in just a few days.

If I can get him to stay married to me for the next year, the vineyard will be mine, and my backstabbing sister will get exactly what she deserves…absolutely nothing. After that, we can go our separate ways and never speak of this drunken mistake again.

Except for me, wedding the wide receiver might be the best mistake I’ve ever made. Now I just need to get him on the same page so we can rush toward our happily ever after.

Wedding the Wide Receiver by Lisa Suzanne

3.5/5 stars

Wedding the Wide Receiver is another great book in the Nash Brother's series. I was really looking forward to this one and it was a fun one to read.

The book starts with Spencer Nash and Grace Newman waking up completely hungover in his hotel room. Wedding clothes are scattered around and when they find a wedding certificate they realize they got hitched. But neither of them remembers a thing about the previous night.

Then we have a small time skip into the past. 3.5 months ago Spencer was engaged with Amelia, Grace's sister. She treats him like crap. And it hurts Grace to see them being in such a dysfunctional relationship. Grace always had a thing for Spencer but always has been scared to act upon it.

When Grace catches Amelia cheating on Spencer things change quickly. The reason Amelia wanted to marry him is so she would inherit the family winery. Their nana made some rules about who would inherit it. If you are married for two years you will inherit the place. And if the marriage produces a child you would get another big plot of land.

Both sisters forge a plan. And Grace proposes Spencer to marry her partly in order to get revenge on Amelia. He doesn't really answer. But when they consume a huge amount of tequila and benadryl they both black out and get married. And that kickstarts the story.

I loved that they didn't lie about his marriage. They instantly tell their families the truth about how the marriage came to be. And didn't make it one big secret.

Even though I really enjoyed this book. This one is unfortunately the weakest book in the Nash Brother's series. Even though I absolutely love the premise, Spencer and Grace didn't have any chemistry. The book starts off as a slow burn. And while Grace liked him. She only mentioned his abs at first and that felt a little shallow. Spencer doesn't even notice her sexually until after the marriage. And then they are very careful and hesitant towards each other. When they do finally sleep together I just didn't feel their connection in my bones.

The book also heavily focuses on who will inherit the winery. I really missed scenes between the two main characters where their relationship grows and evolves.

Don't get me wrong. It's still a fun book. But it doesn't have that all consuming chemistry that the other brothers do have.

I loved the humor in this book. Their shared allergy and the jokes they played on each other brought a huge smile upon my face.
I also loved their love for the same hobby.

The writing style was the same fun and easy-going style as the previous books. So 3.5 big stars from me for this beauty!

Solid 3.5 stars- maybe even 3.75. I enjoyed learning more about the shocking twist at the end of book 1 where Grayson got the call that his brother's wedding was off. I liked Spencer and Grace. I liked their background. Their slow burn for each other that would have never come to fruition if things hadn't happened in their favor. What I had a hard time with was the drawn-out plot involving Grace and her sister Amelia, who is also Spencer's ex fiancé. That was hard for me to connect to and that made the third act breakup even harder for me. I did like the way that the fake scenario for Gracie and Spencer turned real pretty fast. I also enjoyed the several extra spicy scenes- especially the tied up one. I had to fan myself a little bit there. I liked Spencer's family and how these characters had help recognizing who they were to each other since they were up in their heads for a minute.

Grace has kind of been pining over her sister's now ex fiance for forever. She was the one who was supposed to meet Spencer at the bar that fated night forever ago, but of course he ended up going home with Amelia, her sister. The louder of the two of them. The one who seems to always get what she wants now matter the consequences. Well it seems those consequences have caught up to her because Spencer is single and Grace doesn't know what to do with new information she has. She decides to be impulsive and flies out to Vegas to talk to Spencer in person. One thing leads to another and they walk up married. The agreed they would do this for one year so that Grace can become owner of her family's vineyard. What they did not agree to was making their fake relationship real but things start shifting pretty quickly. Grace starts realizing that she could get used to Spencer in her bed on a regular basis. She could get used to the way he worships her body. She could get used to the way he looks at her. But her life is in Minnesota, and he was just moved to San Diego. And now that Amelia knows that they are married, all bets are off. Will Grace and Spencer stand the test of time and distance? Adding in the elements of the paparazzi getting wind of their story- will they be able to hang on to the love that they feel for each other? Or will it truly only last one year like they originally agreed?

Spencer is at a weird point in his life. He broke off his engagement and is now finding out how big of a psycho his ex is. He has been let go from his team of 8 years and is now moving to San Diego where he knows no one. His careful plan is crumbling. It crumbles further when he wakes up married to Grace, his ex's sister. The one whose friendship he has always cherished. He never really thought of more with her but now that they are in this situation he finds himself unable to think of anything else. He wants to explore this thing that is growing between them. He knows that there will be trials coming up. I mean they don't even live in the same city but now that they have both declared their feelings for each other all will be well. Or will it? Add in a crazy ex, the press and his teammates and the pressure he is now feeling is tremendous. He also is not recognizing his wife because of how much she is caving under her circumstances. Maybe it would be best if they just end after the year they agreed. But then why does that thought alone crush him?

I liked the pacing in this book. I found myself REALLY rooting for Grace and Spencer to work while also screaming for something terrible to happen to Amelia (kind of kidding but not at the same time). I am enjoying this series so far and am looking forward to see who snagged Archer's attention??

Thank you to Valentine PR and Lisa for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Book 2 in the Nash brothers series we get to meet Spencer and the adorable Grace.

As soon as I saw the blurb and tropes for this book I knew I needed to read it as it had so many of my favourite Tropes.

Spencer and Grace are friends as Spencer is engaged to Grace’s sister Amelia but she is not a nice person as you can guest Spencer doesn’t stay with Amelia as there is a wedding in Vegas and that it’s self had me lol at what these two get up to.

The journey the Lisa takes us on is one with sister rivalry and love that grows between the main characters

Lisa has written both Spencer and Grace’s characters so well I love it when when the MMC who is sports personality but also show his loving and caring side and the FMC can stand on her own two feet and be strong and independent.

For me it’s a 5🌟 can’t wait for Ashers book 😁

Spencer Nash is my new favorite book hero and the best Nash brother period!! I am obsessed with Spencer and Grace! I loved this book so much that I couldn’t put it down and want more! Their relationship is what love is about, even the messy parts!

I love the way this story was written. I like that we got a taste of the predicament and then we got to see how it all started and what became of everything after the “fall out”! Lisa writes such easy to follow and thoroughly enjoyable stories. The plot runs smoothly and you’re apart of everything. You feel this attachment to the characters and can’t help but love them!

I love that Spencer is so opposite of his brothers but their bond and closeness is there because they are family. Even when they are mad, at the end of the day they are there for each other and I love the family aspect of this story! You could feel the bond and how effortlessly Grace and Spencer fit in each other’s lives, but can they make it all work when one is in a whole other state?

I love Grace and how wholeheartedly she loved. She was not hesitant to take the lead when needed and was not scared to go after what she wanted. She was the perfect compliment to Spencer’s nerd. I love an athlete who’s more than his muscles in my books and Spencer is so much more than a Wide Receiver !

This was another new to me author, and this is the second book in the Nash brother Series, and this time we follow Spencer and Grace, and I love a drunk in Vegas, let get married trope so I was super excited to pick it up.

ִ Grace has spent most of her life wanting to run her families vineyard and has hope and dreams of continuing her family legency, but she has one little problem and it’s her big sister, who wants the vineyard for a completing different reason.

Spencer is Amelia( Grace sister) fiancée, however Grace has always had a crush on him, but she put her families to the side and they grown a genuine friendship.. Spencer also is at a point in his life that a lot of things are changing and he has some really important decisions to make.

Ok so while overall I really enjoyed this book, and I found myself laughing at a lot of parts.I wish the sister rivalry wrapped up a little sooner so we got more of Spencer and Graces relationship.. honestly even with all her foolishness I just wanted way less Amelia.

I truly loved Spencer and Grace growth in the book, Spencer basically started a whole new life all while trying to balance a practically new relationship.. I appreciated that the author showed Grace and the cons to being in a relationship with a sports star while also trying figure out her own career. And adores the entire Nash family and I am impatiently waiting for Asher’s book.. it’s always the youngest sibling that steals my heart lol

I needed an easy to read, sweet and funny romance novel that would totally take my mind off the world’s events. This novel filled that need for me. And I really enjoyed it.

The story has one of my favorite tropes - married in Vegas. It’s the story of Spencer and Grace. How they get married in Vegas in borrowed wedding gear. How Spencer is freshly broken up with Grace’s sister, Amelia, who he was engaged to.

Then there’s the matter of the family vineyard that Grace and Amelia are set to inherit. It’s hijinks, Spencer & Grace actually falling in love and infidelity.

Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited and will be reading the rest of the books in the series.

First of all, thanks so much to Valentine PR, author Lisa Suzanne, and producer Podium Audio for sending me an Advanced Listener Copy of this new audiobook.

This book was so good! I knew from the first chapter that it had all the right ingredients: Vegas wedding, professional athlete MMC, ex-fiancée’s sister FMC, and more. And this story really delivered. I was captivated by their relationship development, up in arms about the sister’s underhanded tactics, and on the edge of my seat wondering who would get the winery in the end.

There were some great twists I didn’t see coming, which I always appreciate. Both main characters have interesting and lovable family members for side characters. I haven’t read the other Nash brother books, but I definitely want to now!

The audiobook was pretty good. I like when books with dual-POV are recorded with 2 narrators. I feel it really gives life to the two main characters. My only issue with the audio was that I didn’t love the male narrator’s voice for the FMC. Partly because it was so different from how the female narrator sounded. I didn’t feel as big a difference in the voice the female narrator did for the MMC. But that’s not a big deal for me and I loved the book anyway.

My only issue with the story was that I felt it underplayed the danger and severity of an allergic reaction that requires an epipen. Much of my family has life threatening food allergies and carry epipens, myself included. If it’s a severe enough reaction to need an epipen, you should always go to the hospital, not just use an epipen and take Benadryl. That’s dangerous, as reactions can flare up again hours later. I felt it misinformed the public, perpetuating the misconception that an epipen ‘fixes’ an allergic reaction in a ‘one and done’ way, rather than subduing a reaction to allow people enough time to get to a hospital. Sprinkling someone’s allergen on their food is not just a fireable offense, they should have called the cops on him once they found out.

Anyway, that’s still a relatively minor complaint. Not even worth reducing my review to four stars.

Really adorable love story, I couldn’t put it down!

Favorite quote, especially since I work in Human Resources, is the MMC’s use of the phrase “Serious as a W2”. Love that, made me laugh!

Highly recommend this book if you like romance novels, and this audiobook if you like listening to books!

Standalone in the Nash Brothers series

Off all the Nash brothers I was most excited for Spencer's story. I love quiet and reserved MMCs, but unfortunately I was disappointed. I loved the story until I didn't.

Grace has been tormented her whole life by her sister (Amelia). Grace is used to taking the high road, even when Amelia took the guy meant for Grace, but when Grace is at risk of losing the family vineyard, she decides to fight back.

Spencer is the calm, quiet, & reserved Nash brother. He likes his routines and plans for every aspect of his life. But getting drunk and marrying his ex's sister definitely wasn't in the plan.

I honestly loved this story until about the 60% mark. It was hilarious, the slow burn, family dynamic of the Nashs, the support Grace & Spencer had for was top notch. I loved that both Grace & Spencer actually had feelings for each other since the first time they met, but didn't act upon their feelings until they were both able to do so. But after their love confessions things went down hill.

I found it weird that even though they both were interested, they couldn't realize it the first time they met and Spencer just ended up with the sister that seemed "more interested"

In other books Spencer was the smart & logical brother, but in this book he just seemed whiny. The paparazzis, the locker room jokes were things that he should have been able to get over if he really wanted to be with Grace. I understand he was feeling vulnerable due to his parents divorce, but he used any excuse possible to end his relationship with Grace. Especially him feeling like he came in second to the vineyard for Grace.

The part I hated the most of this story was Grace having to "give up" the vineyard for Spencer. Sometimes relationships have to take the back burner in order to prosper in other aspects. I think trying to win a 4 generation vineyard business warrants putting your relationship second for a year. Especially when the husband himself is busy with football for the next 3 years.

Spencer's retirement plan was to retire and work on the vineyard along side his wife (first Amelie, now Grace). If Grace puts Spencer first and loses the vineyard, then were does that leave Grace, who's worked her whole life at this vineyard & put her heart and soul into it? Or Spencer after retirement? Yes, everything worked out in the end, but I found putting Grace in this position completely unnecessary and unfair.

I'm a person that believes sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, so I didn't think Grace did anything wrong when she finally started fighting back at her sister. Yes, it was snooping down to Amelia's level, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

I am very excited for Asher's book! It's the wildest of the Nash brothers and I know his story is going to be a good one!

Spencer Nash should’ve been hers, but her wicked sister got in there and beat her to him, so Gracie Newman had to settle for friendship, until Spencer finally saw through Amelia and dumped her, round about the same time he was dumped by his team. Somehow, Gracie ends up in Vegas where she meets up with Spencer only to find that mustard + Benadryl + tequila = a quickie wedding. Yep, Spencer and Gracie wake up married and since being married for a year would benefit Gracie, gentleman Spencer volunteers to stay her husband.

Wedding the Wide Receiver was an easy read with fantastic characters and a strong storyline as two friends found themselves married for the all the wrong reasons but gradually fell in love after agreeing to give things a go despite the many obstacles in their path like living in different states and not forgetting the bride’s troll of a sister who was determined to split them up by any means possible so that she could steal the family vineyard away from Gracie. This leads to them taking sibling rivalry to a new level but in doing so Gracie didn’t see that her actions were pushing Spencer away. She couldn’t see that he wanted to know he came first to her so does the only thing he can think of to protect his heart and pushes her away. I loved the development of Spencer and Gracie’s relationship. They were already friends, so it was easy for them to slide into love but harder for them to work at it especially when Gracie had tunnel vision when it came to the vineyard but as she found out sometimes you have to lose something to make you realise just how much you value it.

First thought: I was a bit unsure of the whole Vegas wedding trope but man on man I how I loved this one! You will be cheering Gracie on as she battles against her sister for her rightful spot in the family business. If you like a little family rivalry, football, swoon worthy moments, and spice this one’s for you!

Spencer and Gracie just woke up in Vegas married and they are tying to figure out what went down. All they remember is a mustard allergy lead to taking some benadryl which probably shouldn’t have been mixed with tequila because apparently it causes blackouts.

Gracie has liked Spencer along time, she finally got the chance to meet him and her older sister swooped in and stole him out from under her. The last few years she had to watch their romance implode because her sister is a manipulative person. Spencer finally called it off and that was both good and bad for Gracie cause now he’s no longer a part of her life.

The last thing Gracie remembers before the blackout wedding was her plan to fly to Vegas where she hoped to run into Spencer and convince him to work with her to get revenge on her sister. It was all to ensure she gained control of the family winery she has dedicated her life to running, but waking up next to Spencer with wedding bands may not have been her exact plan…..

Literally Themes you’ll find:

* Blackout Vegas Wedding
* Sister’s Ex Fiancé
* Battle of the Sisters
* Marriage of Convenience
* Cinnamon Roll MMC
* Long Distance Marriage
* Sports Romance 🏈
* Dual POV
* Spice🔥

✨Thoughts✨
After experiencing an allergic reaction and consuming an excessive amount of Benadryl and tequila, Grace and Nash found themselves married in Las Vegas. Motivated by their shared desire for vengeance against Grace's sister, they agreed to a marriage of convenience. Little did they know that this arrangement had the potential to evolve into something genuine.

♥︎ Grace and Nash had a unique bond that stood out amidst the chaos. Grace's sister's interference injected some good drama into the narrative. While Grace struggled to keep up with her sister's schemes, Nash remained a steadfast presence, maintaining his cool in the face of adversity. They were well-suited for one another, balancing each other out. However, as they began to buckle under pressure, I anxiously bit my nails, hoping they would find a way to prioritize their relationship. It was quite the emotional ride.

🎧The cherry on top was the dual amazing narration by Kelsey Navarro Foster and Tor Thom. They flawlessly breathed life into these characters. Their voices added depth to the story, creating an enjoyable audio experience.

✧Overall, this audiobook offered an entertaining escape. If you are a fan of marriage of convenience stories, this audiobook is certainly worth your time!

I’m so sad… Every book I’ve read by Lisa Suzanne I have loved but I really struggled to get through this one. Normally I can devour a book within a day but I put it down a fair few times in the last week and all up it took at least a week and a half to get through. In saying this, I’m not saying it’s a bad book. Far from it actually, because I have loved every other book she has written. But I really struggled with this one.

I read/listened for about 5 hours and by that point, I knew this book wasn’t for me so I put it down and picked it up again earlier today and managed to get through the rest of the book, however, I skimmed most of it. I just hope and think if I come back to it in the near future, I’ll probably enjoy it like the rest. My mood reader brain is strong at the moment.

There’s really not much more I can say about this book. I’m not the type to belittle an author's work because I didn’t like it or I wasn’t feeling it at the time… Because I’m a firm believer that we all like different things and one thing that doesn’t work for me, may work for someone else!
Let’s hope when I revisit I connect to the story and characters better!!

3.5 Stars!

This was a fun sports romance with an accidental marriage. I wasn't sure if I'd like how the accidental marriage played out prior to reading it, but I loved how Lisa wrote it! I am sure that the same plot has happened to people in Vegas.

Grace wakes up in Vegas after a whirlwind of a night and finds herself married to her sister's ex. I was honestly giggling when they came to the realization of what they've done. The chemistry between Grace and Spencer was noticeable from the beginning. I loved that Spencer was down for Grace immediately. They go on through several obstacles during their one-year agreement, and the entire time I was hoping it would become their HEA.

Wedding the Wide Receiver has:
- Accidental marriage
- Siblings ex
- Sports romance
- Vegas
- Betrayal

What didn't work for me was how much Grace let her sister get in between them. The first couple of times I was like sure because well that is her ex. But I found that the story line was dragged out more than it needed to be. Also, I didn't really agree with some of the stipulations her grandma set.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Lisa Suzanne for this ARC!

Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧

Can I just say I love when a girl can be a petty Betty? 😂😂 This book was full of so much back and forth pettiness between the two sisters, with the ultimate blow by our FMC who scored the man. Grace flew to Vegas shortly after finding out Spencer had broken off his engagement to her sister and she had learned that her sister had been cheating on him in an effort to see if he would marry her so she could inherit her family vineyard. After an allergic reaction, some Benadryl, and a lot of tequila, that Elvis chapel was sounding more and more like a good idea. Grace and Spencer woke up the next morning without any recollection of what they did, but they’ve got the license, the rings, and the photos to prove they got married and now they’ve got to convince everyone it wasn’t a sham in order to inherit the vineyard, all while Spencer starts up a new season playing football in San Diego after being released by Minnesota.

Tor and Kelsey did such a great job on this narration. I love how they brought Spencer and Grace to life.

The Ultimate Nash Bros

These Nash men all have it going for them and this time we have Spencer’s story. You would think you would hate a guy who ditches his fiancé for her sister but not in this case. Amelia was the conniving sister who always had a thing against her sister, Grace. Grace has worked hard her whole life and loved working on her family’s vineyard.

With stipulations and ultimatums Spencer and Grace try to find a way to make their “fake” marriage work while Grace tries to get her Grandmother’s blessing of inheriting the vineyard.

I absolutely love this author’s writing style and it showed when I finished this book in no time. I was so drawn into the story that it was over before I knew it. I can’t wait for Asher’s story to come next. You can’t go wrong reading all of the Nash Brothers’ books!!

Wedding the Wide Receiver is the second book in the Nash Brothers series. This one is Spencer and Grace's story. It works well as a stand alone. I did ultimately end up really loving this book. I loved how the friendship between Grace and Spencer grew into love. I didn't mind that he was her sister's ex. Amelia clearly did not deserve someone like Spencer. Grace and Spencer were perfect for each other. I loved spending time with Nash's family. The only thing I didn't love was the details of Nana's will. It was a little much and convoluted. The ending was great and I can't wait to see more of the Nash family.

This story truly dove into the depths of relationships, not only between Spencer and Grace, but their family dynamics. To say you get swept up and invested is not even the half of it.

Perfect amount of spicy, sexy and romance. You feel how the depth of love these two radiate.

You will not be disappointed! Devoured this stellar read in a day!
....can't wait for our last Nash Brother to fall! The Easter egg left in the final chapters has me eagerly awaiting!

Wedding The Wide Receiver, book 2 of The Nash Brothers series by Lisa Suzanne @authorlisasuzanne. Lisa is one of my absolute favorite authors.

Well, dang! I don't know how Lisa does it, but I am always in love with her MMCs after I finish the latest book & always think this is it, they can't get any better! And then they do! I absolutely adored this book about Spencer & Grace. If you like MF, sister’s ex-fiance, a drunken blackout wedding, long-distance marriage & falling in love long distance with the paparazzi? This is for you!

Love the Nash brothers but didn't really know what to expect with Spencer...the quiet Nash brother!! How he ended up with nasty Amelia is anyone's guess but Grace is her total opposite. My heart broke for him with his feelings of rejection and his decisions around that. Love the catching up with Lincoln and Grayson and seeing more of Asher...and thankfully less if their father!! Lovely read.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I was instantly hooked in this book from the first chapters. The whole revenge plot and Vegas adventure was wildly entertaining. I stayed for the drama that unfolded and the love story that slowly began!! I found myself slowly falling for Grace and Spencer as the slow burn continued. Spencer is such a perfect cinnamon roll mmc.

This audiobook was so fun to listen to!! The narration by Kelsey Navarro Foster and Tor Thom were the best voices for Grace and Spencer.

The Nash brothers are a wonderful group of men😏 Every story gets better!!! I love that Spencer knew just in his heart how much Gracie meant to him. Gracie is such a wonderful person. Being in the shadow of her sister always made her feel less, but she was always more. Great 5 star must read!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Cute pro football romance

3.5⭐️ 1.5🌶️

This was a cute read but not as good as the other Nash brothers series books. I felt like something was missing - a stronger connection between the two main characters, Spencer and Grace. I didn’t get that emotional pull towards them. Almost like I was rooting for them but I didn’t feel compelled to root for them (if that makes sense?).

Grace has been friends and crushing on her sister's ex for awhile. After learning that her family's winery will go to whoever is married first..... Grace gets drunk and marries her sister's ex in a Vegas wedding in someone else's wedding dress! And with most Vegas weddings and marriages of convenience, the marriage only brings about more complications.
This was a fantastic story brought to life by Tor Thom and Kelsey Navarro Foster.
