Because of the pandemic of 2019 and the need for social distancing, elopements surged in popularity. Adventurous couples took it one step further and defined it as a way to get married in nature, to incorporate shared passions and adventures with amazing landscapes (glaciers, waterfalls, mountains) as their wedding backdrop. I’ve written ELOPE to satisfy this niche as “adventure elopements” popularity rises.

Adventure elopement provides freedom without rules to curate a “perfect day.” I believe that the wedding industry has engrained in us the belief that to have a successful wedding, couples must stick to a template and pay $30k+. This is completely out of reach with this upcoming generation who are looking to buck tradition and save money - and I’m looking to change the narrative.

So, I wrote a book about adventure eloping for non-traditional brides and couples. The book is divided into three parts:

Part 1: Adventure Elopement - what it is (including an inspirational and dreamy introduction), who it’s for, why an adventurous couple should consider it, and planning from A to Z. It discusses everything from setting a budget to how to choose vendors that will adventure with them, and how to break the news to the family.

Part 2: Inspiration for off-the-beaten-path destinations and unique stays (luxury yurts, A-frames, Airstreams, treehouses, and catamarans and vans) around the world to help couples think outside the box

Part 3: profiles of 12 flight attendants who have eloped, where they went, how they incorporated their own passions and shared adventures into their day, including all of their vendors. If a reader/bride wants to copy their itinerary, it’s done for them! (Gen Z’s love this!) It includes beautiful elopement photography, including some of my own, and is a beautiful book.

I am an international flight attendant for a major airline. I have traveled to over 55 countries, and you can find me repelling down waterfalls or lounging on a catamaran during my layovers. I am also an adventure elopement photographer, and eloped myself in 2013 to St Croix, USVI, which is included as one of the flight attendant profiles in the book.

Elope is an intriguing and insightful book that explores the modern approach and guide specifically addressing the free- spirited and adventurous souls who reject the 'traditional wedding ideas" and welcome a spirit of exploration and discovery of new destinations and places.

First thing first, the book is segmented into three parts whichs the overall landscape and viewpoint of the adventure elopement. With the foundational pillars of strategic planning like budget, financial aspects, selecting an expert photographer, date, dress to vastly exploration of various elopement ideas, locations and destinations, everything that the author writes about will ultimately help in decision making process and smooth navigation through it all.

The author also shares some glimpses of her own life and the emotions that play a pivotal role in it. I think this book will be perfect for all those couples who wants to try out an unique way of getting married, the elopement adventure will open up roads, routes and pathways of exploration and peacefully navigation instead of a hustle and bustle stressed marathons of unendless frustrations and what ifs that usually ruins your perfect special day.

Recognition of various positive and plus aspects of elopement adventure, the book has provided ample insights on the subjects that reflect on couples desires of travel to breathtaking and stunning landscapes, destinations and locations which lets them embrace the beauty and bliss of their important day. The book also contains questionnaires that will help to become attune to what you and your partner wishes to have on your noteworthy occasion. Beautiful pictures also grace this lovely book with an ingenious and unique thought which will set out a new, refreshed and mutual understanding of the journey.

"Take a deep breath, and remember: no matter how much you spend, you don't have to sacrifice the romance of a traditional wedding. If anything, eloping offers a few extra perks, like witnessing a stunning sunset over an active volcano!"

- An excerpt from the book.

So, perfect for couples, this book will enrich their travel experiences and exploration on their day to remember.

I actually came across this as we were making the decision to elope and honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I was worried it could be a bit too “Instagram bride” or diluted, but in reality this guide is very detailed, straightforward, and more practical than I thought.

No kidding…the author knows what she is talking about (not just because she helped other people plan their elopement but as a flight attendant, lived out of her suitcase)! She definitely seems like she has been through the ringer and gets how things work. My most favorite part, though, is that it wasn't selling me a dream elopement in a cool destination but was helping me get to the bottom of what actually matters to us and how we could keep that at the forefront.

Including sample budgets, planning timelines, choosing a photographer advice and real talk on whether an elopement is the correct type of nuptials that align with your individual personality. And a ton of real examples from other couples which made all the ideas seem so much more attainable and not just magazine fantasy.

If you want an unconventional wedding that still has meaning, this will likely be catnip for you. It made me feel a lot less overloaded, and in fact eager to begin planning which is not what I was expecting.

Highly recommend for anyone even considering eloping – especially if you are planning on doing something outdoors or having a travel aspect.

📚My Review:- ELOPE: A Modern Elopement Guide for the Free-Spirited and Adventurous: Planning Itineraries, Destinations, and Inspiration.. Divided into three parts, Sherry Martin Peters shares a beautiful guide to plan an elopement not just to escape from a big wedding but to experience numerous unforgettable adventures. An adventure elopement is a non-traditional & intimate way for couples to exchange vows, usually against a breathtaking landscape with or without the presence of family. The book gives insights about how to plan your adventure elopement,, it's finances and budget. The author has explained things in an elaborated manner making it easy for the readers to understand.. It's a complete planner which reminds the readers to pinpoint the location where you want to elope,, fix your wedding date, fix a team & photographer to make your day go smooth.. The content was something unique. Highly recommended. Overall, I would definitely love to explore more of the author's work..

A Definite Need if You Are Looking to Elope!!

I bought this book to look for adventures for a vow renewal for our 35th wedding anniversary. The book was so informative and helpful with the authors personal experience of her elopement in St Croix. I loved all the advice and the sample itineraries. Excellent !!
