A chance meeting between Emma White, a wanna be actress, and Gavin Phillips, Private Detective and secret Billionaire, leads to an instant and undeniable attraction. But Emma's past throws her life in a different direction.
This is a journey of two people through their personal and professional lives, and seeing where the sparks fly as they collide with each other in unimaginable ways.
Earlier Called as Betrayal, Re-Edited for the grammar issues.
This was a DNF for me, and in all fairness because I didn't finish, I won't rate this book. However, I do want to explain why this was a no go for me. Within the first few chapters I knew I was going to have a problem with the book. The couple meets and the hero takes the heroine for a drink. During the time they are in the bar, the reader gets a description of how hot he thinks she is..then all of a sudden; the chapter ends and the next chapter they are in a secluded cabin where they begin to screw each other. Uh...hello?? What did I miss??? And that is exactly what went through my head. There was no getting to know each other at the bar. For that matter, they didn't even say much in the cabin..So, we have two strangers basically going at it, and they don't even say "Hey, how you doin!!" LOL To make matters even worse...Emma starts to have these major feelings of love towards this dude..By that point..I had to stop..I am sorry..I usually am not able to NOT finish a book; but this one absolutely needs more depth to it. I know it is meant to be a serial series; but there are plenty out there that are able to get plenty of information across in a short story. This was just way too rushed, and really confusing.
Received an ARC from author in exchange for an honest review.
DNF - This book has far too many errors to read. The conversations between the two characters, Gavin and Emma is stilted and awkward. So many sentences that just do not make sense, "I asked you for drinks, not you." What???? This book needs to be edited.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book had so much promise and potentially but just didn't work as a whole for me. It took me forever to finish reading it although it's relatively a short book. The storyline didn't really work for me and I needed more character development. Emma comes off as being this sheltered, innocent and naive girl that's really never experienced what the world has to offer yet she was in college before coming to LA. Example who hasn't ever had Italian food especially at the age of 20? The conversations between Emma and Tristan, Holly and or Gavin seemed very stilted and awkward. The book wasn't edited properly and their are tons of mistakes throughout the book.
I received an ARC for my honest review. I wanted this story to be something it wasn’t. I wanted it to be awesome and I know it has potential to. At the start of the book it took me a couple of attempts to read it to actually understand what was happening between Gavin and Emma in the bar. Throughout the book everything happens way too quickly and I don’t think it flowed as great as it could have. The conversation between the characters was slightly boring and most of it was consumed with thanking each other which did get on my nerves. Throughout the story I noticed quite a few mistakes with spaces between letters, full stops in the wrong places and with speech marks not where they should be. I think the author should re-read what they have written to correct the mistakes. However, I did like the storyline. I liked how there is a mystery behind Emma which is revealed within the story of why she doesn’t want to take things further with Gavin. The ending was left of a cliff-hanger which was good and always exciting for the next part of the story.
**ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review**
It was really hard to finish this book, but since I promised to review it, I felt I had to. The idea behind the story was okay, but it was executed very poorly. As a writer, I really try not to edit books as I read them. But it was impossible here. There were so many errors that it was actually confusing; it took rereading a sentence or scene a few times to figure out what was actually going on. And even then, some things just didn't make sense.
In several places it felt like a scene or part of a scene was chopped out, and vital information that was removed wasn't inserted elsewhere. For example, they walk into a bar and on the next page she's pretty much naked. Are they still in the middle of a bar? What?
It all just felt very forced. Nothing about this book felt like real people talking and living their lives. The conversations were stiff and I just didn't feel any real chemistry. I don't even understand why it's called Betrayal, because even the big twist/cliffhanger didn't really involve anyone being betrayed.
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
This book captured my attention right away, but I was left wanting so much more from it. I guess that is to be expected with a book of this length and I am hoping the next book answers some of my questions.
Emma is a bit of a mystery when we first meet her and her encounter with Gavin leaves you hanging. She moves to begin a new stage in her life and luck brings Gavin back into her world. Once we learning about her past brings her character comes full circle and the draw these two experience is primal. What pissed me off the most was that things seemed rushed and could have been given more details to explain. I did enjoy reading from both Emma and Gavin's POV, as that is always a nice treat.
I hope book 2 picks up with the major cliffhanger we are thrown at the end of their first real date!!
I just finished the book and started it late last night, I could not put it down. I loved how the book flowed and could not put it down until it was done. I loved how the characters and cannot wait till the next book comes out. Emma is a college student who wants to be a actress.Gavin is a Private Investigator who is a billionaire. They met each other at a party and than she leaves. They dont see each other for a year but they cant stop thinking about each other. they found each other and things are going great. she opens up to him about her past and family and than the bomb falls. Love can be a tricky thing. I truly recommend this book it is a great read.
I received an ARC for a honest review of this book.
DNF @ chapter 4
I feel so bad reviewing it so low, but I couldn't do it. I know it takes a lot of courage, effort and time to write a book and share it with the world. However, I have to say that I've never disliked a book so quickly and I've never quit that early in. The book is not even that long, I just could not force myself to keep reading. I felt like I read those first 3 chapters 3 times to try and make sense about what the hell just happened.
Honestly, (and I know I'm not the only one bothered but this), how did they go from stopping for a drink one page to almost having sex on a couch in that bar the next page?!?! I don't understand. Literally. I probably switched back and forth between those two pages ten times to try to figure out if I missed something in there to help me figure it out. You just met this man very briefly, you leave in a taxi and something about him draws you in so you go back? Okay, fine. But minutes later you're stripping off your clothes in the corner of a packed bar and receiving oral sex? We're not talking discreet hand in skirt here people, it said her tits were out and his mouth was on her core.
Example of one of the more creepy scenes I read in the three chapters I survived:
“Are you ok, baby? Are you ready for it?" his deep male voice echoed in my ears. "For what?" I asked dreamily. He looked at me with hesitation. "Don't tell me you are below eighteen?" "nope, I turned nineteen last month." He relaxed on his seat."Thank God." "Why?" "I was asking you about the sex. I said are you ready for it?”
Huh? "Below eighteen" and "asking you about the sex". WTF?
I don't want to be mean, but I feel like the person who wrote this does not speak English as their first language. I seriously have no problem with that, but if that's he case, pay an editor. Do that even if it is your first language. It needs editing so badly, so very badly. I hope for the writers sake, they get an editor before they release this book.
The main character, Emma, has a heated encounter with an unknown stranger after a night of pure adrenaline. Did I say VERY HEATED? But oh too soon, she runs out and never sees him again, leaving neither knowing much of the other.
The story then develops as we learn more about the life of the main character. While I enjoyed learning about the character, I felt anxious to hear more about the strange man. Patiently waiting until he appears again, a year later.
As they meet again in a another chance encounter, things become heated again...except the story now moves very fast and we see the courtship begin.
I love Gavin, the male lead. He's romantic and honest, a bit of dangerous, yet gentle and caring... Plus he's hot too! I couldn't help but wanting to hear more of him. And just when you are hooked, and are unable to put this book down...a creative twist stops you dead in your tracks.
I would recommend this book. Honestly, I can't wait for book two. There are a few grammatical corrections needed but it's a story that will hook you. I did think the beginning started strong, the middle lingered a bit too much - with so much going on - but then it hooks you once more. Though it felt like it ended too soon.
With that said, I can't wait to read book two and I am enticed to read more from this author.

and yet after one year, they meet again...if there's anything, their attraction, passion grew stronger..oh man, Gavin is so sweet. so damn sweet. Seing her happy, all that matters. It scares him. She was his first date. Real date. my contemporary knight in shining armor ❣❣❣

Truly can't wait to get my hands on book 2 (Passion #2). This sure is one of my top favorite books!♡
I really enjoyed this book. I was pulled in from page one, & once I started reading, I didn't want to put it down. Ms. Jones does a wonderful job of introducing us to the characters; explaining their backgrounds in such a way that you can feel the emotions that they (the characters) are experiencing. The book has lots of romance ranging from soft, tender sweet moments to OOOHHHHLALA HOT, HOT PASSIONATE romance, along w/action, humor, "Passion" ( she named it well!!) & surprises. Speaking of surprises, I did not see the ending coming. It left me w/my mouth hanging open, & wishing I had the second book in the series so I could get started on it. (Sleep? Who needs sleep?). I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Definitely a great read. If you haven't done so already, & you like your romance STEAMING, do yourself a favor & buy it!!! Definitely worth it!!!
Two strangers meet while at a club that is being raided. The attraction is instant and they spend one night of passion after which Emma runs out on Gavin. A year later when Emma goes to LA to go to school she runs into Gavin again. The attraction is still alive and well along with intense heat. After a few date Emma shares a dark secret with Gavin that makes being intimate difficult for her. Gavin has secrets of his own he hasn't shared. But you can't hide things to long or they will find a way to reveal themselves. This story has a lot of dark details and is told from both characters point of view. I found myself unable to put this book down.....it took me less than a day to complete. I can't wait for the second book to continue where this one left off.
I got an ARC of this book in exchange of a review. This a story of second chances.Emma has a explosive encounter with Gavin , but when the things become hotter, she decided to stop, and she never see him again, and until today she regret her decision. After one year , Emma left for LA to complete her studies, what she doesn't expect is to met Gavin again. And when they see each other is as if time had not passed, their chemistry is palpable . The difference is that this time, Emma is not gonna pass the opportunity. But Gavin is hidden things about him which can finish any chance with Emma. Is he gonna tell her or he is gonna take his chances? This book is HOT! Can't wait for the next one.
I struggled with this book a lot. The entire book needs editing badly. The dialogue is terrible and often just drags. It really wasn't an enjoyable read for me.
I still can't figure out why it's called Betrayal. I don't feel like we are given enough context to the situations severity beyond Sarah being left at the alter. I'd have liked more details in that department.
Also I felt that the "secrets" were pretty contrived. Emma's at least seemed out of place. Emma just annoyed me but then again her quirky I've never had Italian food thing seemed incredibly weird and not very plausible.
Perhaps a trigger warning for some people would be appropriate as well.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I never like to give a bad review but I just did not like this book. The story could have had potential but the editing is non existant. I am not even sure why it's called Betrayal. Who was betrayed??? There is no chemistry between the characters and while I did read the entire book nothing sticks with me not even the characters names. This just needs alot of work.
Received an ARC for review...I was disappointed with this one. I believe it had a good storyline but the characters didn't have enough chemistry to pull it through. The editing needs attention badly.
It was fast paced and was left with many questions. I finished reading to write an honest review but wouldn't have otherwise.
ARC for honest review….. I do have to be honest….I didn't care for this book. I couldn't connect with the characters and felt like the story just didn't flow. The dialogue between the characters lacked spark, heat, something…..! And the editing errors……..drove me crazy. Sorry I couldn't give this a good review. Thank you for the opportunity to review.
I loved this book. I could not put it down. This is the beginning of Emma and Gavin's story. I can not wait to read the next book. This book does have a cliffhanger. I want to thank P.A. Jones for the ARC of this book. I need to know what happens with Emma and Gavin after Emma learns who Gavin really is.
Was luCky to get this book early. Great behind story going on in her head. Great that she was able to make her mind up about him. Looking forward to the nxt one, maybe we will see more of gavin behind story in this one!!!
This book would have been so much better had the errors been corrected, the characters had better development. It felt rushed like if it did not get put down on paper than the story would not be told. I liked how the story was developing but a little more time and effort may have made this book better.
This book takes you places that you only think about. The characters are interesting just as much as the background. Get ready for some twists and turns that just might surprise you. Don't forget to get the next one also, it's a series!
Emma White was at an illegal drug club with her date William. She did not know it was illegal, but all the thick hazy smoke hit her in the face when she tripped over someone, made her think that this was no ordinary tobacco smoke. That someone she tripped over was Gavin Phillips and his first impression of her was, she does not belong here. She was so upset that her date would dare bring her to something illegal that she told him she was leaving. As she walked towards the door, the police started entering to raid the club. She sat down on the floor with her head in her hands with despair coming over her in waves. How was she to explain her being in jail to her mom? Gavin seeing her so dejected held out his hand and offered a way out. She took it and escaped the club. A few blocks later Emma thanks Gavin after refusing his offer for a drink, calls a cab and leaves him. Gavin was desolate. No other woman had ever affected him like this and he was so sorry she left. As he was walking around, a cab pulled up and Emma got out. (How did she know where to find him if he had been walking around with no direction) She changed her mind and decided to have that drink as a thank you and took him to a neighborhood student pub. The pub was full of students and music. Gavin finds a table in the corner and the next thing dear readers he was pressing Emma against the wall, pulled down her top and pulled up her skirt and gave her a gigantic orgasm. This is where I pause. I think the author left something out here. They were in a public place, full of students and he practically got her naked, all against a wall with NO ONE noticing. Excuse me, something is definitely off here. After this orgasm they walk out and she leaves him again. One year later, Emma is leaving to go to Los Angeles. She just received a drama and acting scholarship to a University there. Her sister Sarah is hysterical and does not want Emma to leave her. Sarah is still emotional and despondent over 1) a broken marriage 2) a broken wedding or 3) jilted at the altar, to a billionaire by the name of Adam. Take your pick; all three were attributed to her state of stress. As Sarah takes Emma to the airport the histrionics continue. In my opinion this is way, way beyond normal, maybe the family is a little dysfunctional? When Emma arrives in LA, her roomie Holly arrives to pick her up and takes her to Holly’s house where she will be renting for the next 2 years. Her boyhood friend, Tristan calls her to take her to dinner and sites see Hollywood. Tristan looks really good and he is doing well as a MMA fighter. Later Holly bullies Emma into going to a hot new club that night. In fact it was so hot, no one can get in without an invitation. Emma, Holly and her boyfriend arrive. Holly and Emma go to the door, but are refused entrance. Emma hears a voice behind her that says, “I can get you in”. As she turns to look at the man that went with the voice, she is speechless to see it is Gavin. Gavin gets them in, attends to his business appointment and whisk Emma out of there and to dinner. This starts the wooing of Emma by Gavin. He takes her out to wonderfully expensive places, buys her extravagant gifts and Emma keeps telling him not to spend so much of his money on her because he surely cannot afford this lifestyle on a Private Investigators salary. How she knows he is a private investigator I have no idea, I could not find that conversation anywhere in the book. He tells her continuously, that he gets all this for free because his clients owe him. Doesn’t she get a little suspicious of the fact that everything is a freebie from his clients? The book spins a lovely tale of romance and love until the very end when some shocking truths are discovered and Emma falls to the floor devastated. To be continued. Major cliffhanger. I will buy the next book because I am a sucker for cliffhangers. I received my ARC for an honest review. In the body of the review, I have stated where some parts just did not flow cohesively or did not make sense. The story is choppy in places and interesting in others. I hope P A Jones edits these parts before final printing.
Ok at first I was a little worried I could not get into this book, I figured it was the same ol'....innocent girl in a bad situation and the BAM prince charming comes in for the saving. WRONG!! I was hooked after the first chapter. Intimating emotions churned through my veins. He owned me completely. -Emma.
Emma has a girl who has been through something truly traumatizing, and it's that fear, that has her in a standstill with her pervious relationships. When her blind date turns sour she is forced to leave and gets help form a gorgeous man named Gavin. A year later Emma finds herself in Los Angeles to attend school, when her friend convinces her to go out and runs into Gavin again. Their attraction is just as intense as it was a year ago. suddenly my heart stopped. face from my passed just walked past me. Emma? It couldn't be. -Gavin. My heart was burning with desire to wrap my arms around her. My lips dried up in anticipation of kissing her. -Gavin. Gavin, this guys is seriously sweet. Once he learns of her passed he becomes protective of her, but Emma is ever cautious but then throws even more caution to the wind. It gets intense and the freaking drama bomb that gets dropped is enough to have even the readers mouth hanging open like No. Freaking. Way! the cliffhanger is epic, in the way you want to one click and get the next one right then and there. Just wow. Anger burst in my veins and I moved forward... -Emma "You have got to be kidding me!" I yelled, my voice raised in anger I never imagined I could have. -Emma. Yeah, under that meek girls is a woman who is livid... go and grab this baby up, it's a relatively short read but it's not what you would expect in its few pages it packs a punch. So in saying that happy reading! **Reviewed as part of Fun Fab and Tantalizing Reads**
Emma met Gavin after a blind date gone horribly wrong. They have an intense attraction but when things have the possibility to become more Emma get scared and runs. Now a year later and in a new city she runs into him again and the attraction there before is undeniable now, but her past still haunts her can Gavin help her through it?
The one girl he could never forget and the only one to ever deny him he wants Emma, but the secrets he holds could ruin everything. This is the first part in series that will continue their story.
Gavin is sweet and understanding while still be an alpha male with desires. He sees Emma's innocence and even though he feels he's not good for her he can't help but go after her and he takes care of her in such a good way that you can't help but fall for him.
Emma is niaive but she knows what she wants and goes after it even with the insecurities of her past. She's living her dream and no matter how scared she is she works so hard to not let it define her future that you can't help but admire her.
So the basic story line is very interesting it's the way the story is layed out that leaves something to be desired. The way it is written is so formal making it hard to get into what you're reading and there are a inconsistencies and things overlooked that leave you wanting. I am curious to see how the story evolves, even if I am a bit put off by the writing style.
My very first ARC. I'm going to give my honest review. But first of all, my English is not really good. So if your heart is too fragile to see my bad grammar, better don't read it LOL
Emma and Gavin are 2 strangers that 'accidentally' met in a club that is being raided. Gavin 'saved' her and the two of them become attracted to each other, but then when Gavin asked her to have sex with him in that first night, she refused it and went away instead.
A year later, Emma moved from Santa Ana to LA to attend college. Emma has a sister who has a broken marriage with a playboy billionaire. That's why her family become so sensitive toward billionaires. After few days in LA, she met Gavin again, in a club, and accidentally. And they start over again. One day after they had a date and were about to have sex, again, Emma suddenly went away and left Gavin because of her bad experience about sex in the past. But she apologized to Gavin and ended up told him all of her past.
Finally they could start their official date smoothly until a secret about Gavin revealed and ruined everything.
I can't say I dislike this book, but I can't say this book is my fav either. I did like the plot. But everything was just went too quickly. I expect more than this actually. And there are a few grammatical corrections needed. But I'm curious about the next book already.

Okay, I hate to write this review but I really have to.
This book has a great potential but a lot of work has to be done for that to happen. I know that our dear author has worked so hard to came up with this book but the story needs a lot of editing from the grammatical errors and the flow of the story. Gavin & Emma are wonderful characters but I guess, their characters should be developed more, with their backstories and the emotional pull that could draw the readers into their story. At first I found it intriguing but the further I get into the story, the more confused I became. The dialogues are brief and like too generic for me, not being able to convey strong emotions. But I loved the plot, 2 strangers who shared a passionate night but got separated and then fate intervened that they met again. A heroine who has scarred past that allowed her to shut herself from men in general, afraid of discovering her darkest secrets. A hero who can be liked easily despite his manwhore reputation but with his protective and romantic streak, can get any woman on her knees.
I didn't like how this story was written but if given a thorough editing, this will have a better potential. I hope that the author can look into that.
