Daniel Carson lives in Nebraska with his wife and their perfect adoring children who have never ever misbehaved. Not once. Honest.
His days are a mixture of... teaching, cooking, driving, cleaning, more cooking, lots more driving, cleaning and more driving. So much driving. When the children finally go to bed, Daniel writes stories.
The Hope Walker Mysteries is a cozy mystery series with action, humor, and just a bit of romance. A Hopeless Murder is the first book in the series.
The Baking School Mysteries is a culinary cozy mystery series where the food is a delicious, the people are nosy but lovable, and murder is always on the menu. Fudge Frosting Murder is the first book in the series.
I liked the rodeo setting of this and I loved Harley! Honestly, I was hoping that Roy would do something for Harley to allow her to be in her own age competition that was as big as the rest. Harley rules! Dominic rules!
Lots of action and wonder as to what was coming next. Loved it!
Next is A Hopeless Celebration - release date is February 1, 2025 along with another Hope book on the same day.
My next read that was published only a few weeks back is by Annabel Chase. It is called “Flowering Inferno” from the Bloomin’ Psychics series.
Like any ongoing series that ran a will-they / won't they for a long time, the Hopeless books (not on 13.5) have to deal with getting their couple together. In this case there are revelations of old girlfriends, and a past as a rodeo rider for the Sheriff, which initially seems like a re-run of the disapproving sister in the last book, but then the Sheriff gets shot (FYI the deputy remains fine). Perhaps wary of the amount of murders that have taken place in this small town in the previous nine months, this is the still serious crime that Hope needs to solve. On the ongoing soapy bits, no progress is made on the missing mother. On the comic relief, Katy and her kids (and her always peripheral craft beer making husband) get to run Granny's bar for a week with hilarity ensuing.
The rodeo came to Hopeless, and I now I want to watch America's finest in tight jeans, I mean, watch a rodeo.
Luckily, Hope was there to get some brisket and report back to the rest of America about where the action was.
This was a fun read with plenty of action, singing, and joking around, plus a strip tease by grandma. Not to be missed. The book I mean.
If you like thrills, chills, and spills... er, no chills, it's exciting but not a scary thriller. More like a scary Rollercoaster where you know you'll come out alive, but you're not really sure how.
I really love this series and was so excited to read this. I couldn't put it down, it grabbed me and held on to me until the last page. I am a long time rodeo fan and enjoyed those parts quite a bit. The rest of the story had me on the edge of my seat, and the ending was extremely satisfying. December is a long time to wait, but I can't wait to see how recovery goes. ❤
I am completely invested in the series. It's always a question of what did you do this time? And not just Alex and Hope. It's Katie, Chris and the kids as well. I live the way Carson interweaves humor, tense moments, vivid mind pictures and just good old fashioned story telling-from a woman's point of view. How a male pulls off the woman's point of view is just amazing.
A rodeo is coming to Hopeless and Hope is going to the rodeo with Alex, who happens to have been a former star. Nanna is taking a vacation in Mexico so her friend Katie and family running the Library while she is gone. During the first night of the rodeo Alex subs for an old friend and is shot. After getting Alex settled in at the hospital Hope starts the investigation. Gemima makes an appearance and comes into the hospital and lip locks with Alex. Great reading with ever changing leads.
This was the best Hope Walker book yet! Intrigue and confusion, love and hate, misdirection....it has it all! I generally guess the bad guy by the middle of the story but this time? Not a clue! Talk about a surprise ending! Highly recommended!
This is such a great series and keeps getting better. The story line is great. The characters are so loveable...I mean I wish I had Katie as my bff. The dialogue is second to none. You laugh, you cry and you cheer, but you don't put the book down.
Daniel Carson’s Hopeless Books are very delightful. I like how your emotions can change from heart stopping fear to flat out laughter. Can’t wait to settle in with another Hope Walker Adventure
I have loved these books since the first installment. They are simple, funny, and full of heartfelt moments. So glad Daniel Carson decided to quit teaching and write full time!!
I have read the whole series so far. The characters are believable and it is written humour. The plots are intriguing and ingenious. I look forward to you continuing the series
I so enjoy these books. I like to go back and visit with the same people when I read the next book. Each one brings humor to the story but also a sweetness that makes it a fun read. Make sure you read all of the books in this series. Each gets better and better.
I have read the first 12 of the Hope Walker Mystery series and I Can honestly say I have enjoyed every one of them. They are funny, serious, best friend silly and just a all together good read. Can't wait to read the next one.
Daniel Carson spins a doozy this time! I love that the familiar format never overshadows the good storytelling. Rodeo life came to life and colored more of the Hopeless culture for me!
This series is so amazing. The characters are funny, sassy, and enjoyable. They truly feel like friends and family. The murders keep me guessing, the stories are true page turners, and the ending is always a surprise. I am so glad I found this series.
These are such fun books! I love the relationship between Hope & Katie & of course Granny and then there is Alex! There is always something to think about & while there is some suspense, it is not overdone!
Daniel, Congrats on transitioning to full time writing! Can't wait to see what is next!
I just binged read books 1-12!!! It’s the first time reading a mystery that I actually laughed out loud and was constantly changing who I thought was the murder!!! The characters are fabulous! I can’t wait for more to follow!!!!
No! No! No! This series came to an end without the final denouement! Not fair! After all those thoughts of praise for this writer and his skill in weaving fun stories. How much longer must we wait?
A rodeo, Hopes sheriff gets shot! After false leads and granny in a string Bikini (you have to read the story to understand) the Assassin is really a surprise,
