First I have to say is that if you haven't read this series, you need to get your hands on them now. This series hasn't let me down, this is book number 8, and it doesn't disappoint. Jess and Dan both have been hunting for this serial killer named Eric Spears aka: The Player. In the meantime Jess and Dan are having conflict in their daily lives, because of the very evil Eric Spears. Because they are afraid that Eric Spears will do anything and everything to hurt the people that they love. I would recommend this series, because it will keep you on a roller coaster with lots of twist and turns. If you haven't started reading this series you need to stop now and get them, because Debra Webb, will not let you down.
After reading the ARC of Vile, it is my favorite book so far in the Faces of Evil Series by Debra Webb. Deputy Chief Jess Harris is still trying to take down the Player, aka, Eric Spears. The Player has gained a following of psychos who are eager to please him and gain his favor. His newest fan in this story is going to impact Jess’ life in many ways. Besides chasing down this new murderer, finding dead bodies and worrying about the women Spears has already taken, Jess is worrying about Dan’s reputation and job. Who is trying to take Dan down by planting evidence and saying things that aren’t true and why? Could it be Eric Spears or the good mayor of Birmingham? The stress level is rising and so are the tensions within the department. Don’t miss out on a great story by a very talented author! Enjoy!
Oh it's great to be back in Birmingham with Debra Webb's latest Faces of Evil book, Vile. Eric Spears is still going at it and making Jess and Dan's life a mess. Every Faces of Evil book I read just gets better and better. I have to say with all the writers out there, not a lot can weave a story like this author. She is a storyteller and a great one at that. If you haven't started this series and like suspense with a little romance thrown in, read the first book Obsession now and go through them to date. You won't be sorry. If you've already discovered the Faces of Evil series, you will not be disappointed with Vile. Excellent book!!!!
Debra Webb has definately done it again. Vile is following in its predecessors wake. The drama and wickedness just rolls through the book from start to finish. Your appetite for the next installment keeps growing with each page you read. Another great job Deb, now on to the next.
All I can say is Webb has done it again. Another superb instalment in The Face of Evil series that leaves you clamouring for more and begging for her to write faster. I must suggest that you read the books in order because the all fit together and for me I do not really see them as stand alone books because so much back story is needed to understand what is going on but this is one series worth reading from the start. Now for this book I am not one to give spoilers bit all I can say is darn Mrs Webb where did this twist come from? You must have spent some time thinking up this Vile person and how to incorporate them into Jess and Dan's life you evil evil lady. I loved it. I also loved how the story is progressing among the characters. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens because this one ended faster then the others. I was like OMG is that it? Great book.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. Vicious is the best one yet in the Faces of Evil series, I didn't want the book to end. Vile keep my attention from the beginning to the very end. It graps your attention from the beginning and carries you away until the end. You are left wanting more. This installment continues with the story of Jess and Dan trying to catch the serial killer, Eric Spears, while their personal lives are in conflict. The storyline is well-thought out and has a great plot.I reread it again and felt the same way about it the second time. Very suspenseful, lots of twists and turns to keep your attention. A must read book of 2014 in my opinion!!Can't wait to read Heinous to continue the story. I am hooked on this series and eagerly await each addition.
Vile is Book # 8 is the Faces of Evil series, and I'm just as addicted to this series as I was in the beginning. They just keep getting better! This book had me turning pages faster than ever before. Jess has her plate full with a baby on the way, trying to save Dan from being set up for murder, an obsessed serial killer taunting her, and a new case that reaches new heights. Who is this little girl that seems to take to Jess right away? I got the privilege to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
omg, deb has done it yet again, im telling you if you have not gotten into this series yet you need to!! its hard for any author to keep a story going for so long, but.. debra webb is just that amazing let me tell ya i had finished this in less then 2 hrs, and it kept me on the edge of my seat every second. and longing for more!!
Received complimentary copy for an unbiased opinion. Debra Webb strikes gold with the 8th book in her series. This book is so full of action and suspense that I could never find a place to set it down to sleep and eat. There are new people and situations added throughout the book. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Vile is available in paperback and ebook exclusively from Amazon.
This series is a must read for me. I am blessed to be able to read an ARC for honest reviews.
The journey of Jess & Dan while dealing with the crazed psycho Spears is a wild ride. Spears is weaving and trying to deteriorate every aspect of there lives now. As they both, with the help of there friends and colleagues try to find and stop him the journey is heart stopping and scream at your kindle at times...GREAT!!!
This book left me on the edge of my seat, I literally kept trying to turn the page and yelled when I realized I have to wait for Heinous.
The latest book in the Faces Of Evil Series does not disappoint!!! Spears is still causing havoc, and he is enlisting followers to help him. Followers just as sick and evil as he is. Jess has a secret she is afraid Spears will discover and use against her. Dan is under fire from the higher ups trying to force him out of his job. There is a twist at the end of the book that comes out of the blue!! You won't go wrong with this or any of the books in the series!!! Can't wait for the next book in the series!!
Debra Webb continues to keep us intrigued with her Faces of Evil series in her latest book, Vile. Jess Harris is drawn to a young girl with Jess’s same hair and eye coloring that is left alone on the sidewalk with a note to call the Deputy Chief. After the murder of a man in a homeless shelter and little girl's grandmother turns up murdered Jess is again faced with the evil of Eric Spears. Just when we thought we had the characters all figured out, she adds new twists and turns that keep us waiting impatiently for the next installment.
With each book, the stakes raise, the risks increase, the paranoia multiplies, and, well, Vile was intense. I couldn't relax while reading this book; there was so much tension caused by waiting for each move made by The Player. The lone bright spot in the sea of evil is that Jess and Dan are on solid ground and complete happiness seems to be within reach. I really like how all the characters seem to be hiding something. I have no idea how it's all going to turn out, but I am definitely enjoying the ride of this series.
I am like everyone else who is a fan of Deputy Chief Jess Harris, have looked forward to the release of, "FACES OF EVIL SERIES BOOK 8 - VILE." The book was to released on the 21st. Once I started reading this installment I had to read it from page one to the end. I started reading 'VILE" Friday evening and finished it on Saturday the 22nd.
If a book catches my interest as all of the "FACES OF EVIL SERIES" have done, I like to read the book a second time before writing a review. Upfront I will tell you, I don't believe in spoilers so you will have to buy or borrow a book to find all of the twisted things Spears "The Player"has done to those people around Jess and Dan. Jess and Dan are first an foremost concerned about the baby Jess is carrying. Everything they do focus on how Spears can twist so much misinformation about Jess and Dan.
The trauma the Jess is facing is made more difficult with the attack on Dan's reputation. Both Dan and Jess feel there is someone feeding information to Spears, but they haven't a clue who it might be. The one thing that is certain is Jess and her team, and Dan are fighting for their families and working to solve the murders. The biggest goal is to stop Eric Spears and put him out of action. Debra creates a fast paced story and makes all of the characters come alive. You find you will love the mystery, but you will hate the fact you have to wait for answers to your questions.
What Debra Webb has done is deliver another great book that is part of a series that still has 4 more installments. As a long time fan of all of Webb's books, I can tell you I have started my countdown clock telling me how long I have to wait until we see #8. If you are a fan of suspense, mystery, and thrills, "FACES OF EVIL -VILE #8, is the book for you. VILE, will also leave you wanting more. You will want another fix of Jess and Dan. This book is a must read, and I have no problem giving is a 5 star rating.
This whole series continues to show how great a story teller Debra Webb is. The underlying theme of Eric Speer's a seriel killer fixated on Jess Harris continues to be woven throughout the books and I cannot wait to see how it will come to a head. This book continues from where book 7 ends. Jess get's drawn into a new case as she deals with her pregnancy and tries to keep it a secret so Speer's will not find out. The case that is being built against Dan shows how much politics plays in more then you would think. The new character introduced in this book (Amanda) gives you an even greater glimpse into Jess's past. This book definitely left me wanting more and cannot wait for the next installment.. Heinous.
Have you read a book series where you can pretty much tell what path the author follows and how the story will play out?
Well get off that series and start reading the Faces of Evil series by Debra Webb. This twisting, turning story is like a spiderweb. From far away it looks pretty simple, close up you can't even begin to fathom the intricate design.
Jess finds Evil and Evil finds Jess. Who will win, is anybody's guess. Read this series to find out how a real author spins a story.
Love this series by Debra Webb. Jess is still being stalked by The Player, but she has more at stake since she is pregnant. A great read with a "family" twist that will keep you in suspense. Great beach read for summer!
Another page turner that I finished in 2 sittings - the only negative thing is that by the end of this book the main characters' lives are falling to pieces and the serial killer, Player, is still in the wind! So now we have to wait till the next book is launched...
Wow, This is one intense book! This story flies off the pages! I could not put it down! I can't wait for #9 now! Thanks Debra Webb, I just LOVE this series!
This book is #8 in the ongoing Faces of Evil series and it does not disappoint. I received an ARC of this book for an unbiased review. Jess is a detective who has been hunting a serial killer named Eric Spears for quite a while. Now she believes he's hunting her as much as she is him. Jess's boyfriend Dan, the chief of police, is having problems of his own as he is being set up by someone in the town and harassed by the town elders and mayor. Both Jess and Dan have a secret they are afraid Eric has somehow found out about and they are both fighting throughout this book to keep everyone they know and love as safe as they can from a serial killer who will use anyone and anything to meet his goals. This book is fast moving, scary and will take you for quite the ride! Don't miss it!
I was gifted a copy of this book and omg i love it Debra Webb has done it again oh how evil some can be if u havent read this series u are missing out u have love hate murder justice all rolled into one i am a huge fan of Debra Webb and i gottta say she knocked it out of the park with this one and i cant wait for the next book. :)
And now that I'm not submitting this book for review in other places, I can amend my earlier comment. By a lot.
The Faces of Evil series by Debra Webb is one of the most engrossing, addicting series of romantic thrillers I have ever read. I received the first four novels at once, for review, and devoured them in something like three weeks. I was hooked long before I received books five and six in the mail.
As with every book in this series, Vile picks up immediately where Vicious left off. Meaning, each and every novel so far has ended in an ‘holy guacamole you did not just stop right there’ sort of way. Although cliffhangers like these can be extremely difficult to deal with, it makes picking up the next in line so much easier to do. There’s no set up, no gentle easing into the story – nope – you’re grabbed by one arm and drug right back into the middle of the action. Vile isn’t any exception.
Vile is, to date, the most intense installment in this series. Not only does Jess have her usual issues to deal with – internal strife at work, dead bodies, her family, etc. – but also an entirely new set of issues arise in the form of a pregnancy, someone trying to frame Dan, and oh, yeah: Eric Spears’ newfound following of nuts. Vile finally starts to bring together some of the bits and pieces Ms. Webb planted in earlier novels, helping to draw the strings just a bit tighter.
I’ve mentioned this in other reviews, but truly the thing that makes these books so readable is the big bad: Eric Spears. Why? I’m not entirely certain, but my theory is this: he seems so normal. Not like the crazies you see on Criminal Minds or other shows like that, the kind that you can see coming a mile away. No, The Player is handsome, he’s smart, he’s charming and he’s rich. He’s that reclusive businessman that no one gives a second thought to because he’s ‘just a little eccentric’. Oops – we mean he’s a serial killer, sorry.
I know that in the end, Jess, Dan, and the Birmingham Police Department are going to bring him down, and I’ll be sad when it happens. Partly because some tiny bit of me wants to see him thumb his nose at the world, but the biggest part of me screams, “There’ll be no more books once they do!”
On the flip side, book nine – Heinous – releases on my birthday.
Disclaimer: I bought and paid for this e-book with my own hard-earned money because I’m a tiny bit addicted to this series. And maybe Eric Spears, too. Just a little though.
Another Winner!!! Vile is a great addition to the Faces of Evil Series. I have read every book in this series and they just keep getting better and better.
Vile is Book 8 of the Faces of Evil series. It picks up where Book 7, Vicious, leaves off. Jess Harris is Deputy Chief and her boyfriend Dan is Chief of Police in Birmingham, Alabama. Jess is former FBI, and has been searching for Eric Spears, a serial killer who first eluded her while she was with the Bureau. Since the beginning Spears has been fighting back, taunting her and actively interfering in her life and career. He becomes more dangerous and clever with each installment. It is a hard task for an author to keep a villain operating at such a high level over a long series, so it is very much to Debra Webb’s credit that she has managed to increase his cunning to an almost exasperating level in this book.
Add in that Dan is the subject of a political intrigue designed to push him out of office and possibly into jail, a little girl found alone on the street, and that Jess is pregnant, and the stage is set for this potboiler of an adventure.
I could not stop reading this book. Webb keeps it fresh with a number of plot twists, and if I say any more I will be giving the story away (SPOILERS!!!!) Read this book – the drama and tension did not fade in this eighth book of the series, but continued to increase. I can’t wait to get started on the next book, Heinous, to see where it will take me
What can I say, Debra Webb is an awesome author. She keeps me on the edge of my seat with the Faces of Evil series and Vile is no different. As soon as I pick up the story, I can't put it down until the end. I love the suspense, the thrill of the chase, the heart of every story she weaves and every character she portrays. There will always be horrific stories to tell, but there will always be heroes like Jess to take them down.
What's to say. You did it again. I started Vile at 4 in the afternoon and finished it really early in the morning. This series is by far one of the best I've read. I'll be on pins and needles waiting for the next. Enjoy reading this book. By the way Debra Webb asked me to go on another site to post and rate. The site would not let me because I didn't buy the book there.
That was great! Things are definitely ramping up for Jess! And poor Dan! Honestly, I feel nauseous every time Jess eats one of Mr. Louis's offerings….cant wait for HEINOUS: The Faces of Evil Series Book 9! This was the best in the series so far!
