In fact, the bakery is hosting a pumpkin pie-eating contest to kick off the festivities. And let’s not forget the huge book signing taking place on night one, featuring Harmony Honeycutt’s new book on how to manifest your dreams.

So when my next hit ends up face down in a pie I served up, I’m not only shocked—I’m also a little curious as to who beat me to the killer punch. And wouldn’t you know it? That dead guy just so happens to be Harmony Honeycutt’s ex. It makes me wonder if she’s just manifested herself a murder.

Harmony might be at the top of my suspect list, but I’m at the top of Cooper’s.

Now I’ve got to find the killer before I end up behind bars for committing a homicide I had nothing to do with.

Loved it!

What a hoot! She's an assassin -- not a very good one --for one mob family. He's a cop from another mob family. And the families are rivals. So when a guy on her hit list ends up dead before she can off him, she must help find the actual culprit before she's arrested for a crime she didn't commit.

"Turkey Trots and Target Shots" offers a delightful and quirky cozy mystery set during Thanksgiving in the small town of Honey Hollow, where nothing is as sweet as it seems. Effie Canelli, our mob-connected, witty amateur sleuth, is back, and this time she's juggling more than just pumpkin pies. As a killer prowls the streets, Effie finds herself in the middle of another murder mystery, complete with a hit gone wrong, a turkey trot event, and the ever-complicated "Cooper Knox debacle."

Effie’s unique backstory, as a reluctant assassin with a talent for solving crimes (even if she misses a few shots), adds a humorous twist to the cozy mystery genre. Her banter, paired with the lighthearted but sharp narrative, makes the story engaging and easy to dive into. The Thanksgiving backdrop, with a side of family drama and the Gobble and Grab Turkey Trot festivities, gives the book a festive yet suspenseful vibe that’s perfect for holiday reading.

The pie-eating contest and the ensuing murder—complete with the victim’s face landing in one of the pies—was a brilliantly absurd moment that had me chuckling. Effie's investigation leads to a list of suspects, with Harmony Honeycutt, the manifest-your-dreams author, at the top of it. I enjoyed how Effie balanced her duties as a hitwoman with her sleuthing, all while dodging Cooper's suspicions.

Addison Moore does an excellent job of blending humor with mystery, and the crossover with the Murder in the Mix series was a fun bonus. And let’s not forget the recipe at the end, which ties the cozy theme together perfectly.

If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries with an edge of sass, a sprinkle of mob intrigue, and laugh-out-loud moments, this book is an absolute treat. Effie’s sharp wit and the small-town charm of Honey Hollow make this a perfect addition to your holiday reading list.

Has Cooper figured out that Effie is moonlighting as an assassin for Uncle Jimmy? Ever since she saw her picture on his murder board, she’s been running scared. But her relationship with Cooper is the only thing keeping him off of Jimmy’s hit list. With Thanksgiving approaching, she needs to manifest a harmonious connection with Cooper. Too bad Uncle Jimmy has given her more targets. When someone else gets to them first, Effie must find the killer before Cooper hauls her in.

Nonstop food and fun not to mention killer thrills in book 3 of Addison Moore’s Pain in the Assassin series. All of our favorite Honey Hollow characters are on board for this holiday extravaganza. Aunt Cat and Carlotta are up to their usual shenanigans, and Watson steals every scene he’s in. Effie’s track record of being the most inept hit woman that gets results remains intact. Nona’s Thanksgiving dinner surprise is a real treat and I can’t wait to see what else she has planned for Effie and Cooper.

Love this series!

Addison Moore really outdoes herself sometimes with these cute cozy mysteries! This is the 3rd book in the Pain in the Assassin Mysteries series, and I am loving it. I love Effie’s character and how she has a sorta romance with Cooper, who is not only a detective but also from a rival “family”.

In this book, Effie has been avoiding Cooper after discovering his string board of her pseudo-crimes with her picture right in the center. Not only that, but there is another murder in this sleepy little Vermont town after a man dies during the Pumpkin eating contest. Except its no ordinary death, his pie was laced with peanuts which he was deathly allergic to. She has to work quick to clear her name, keep Cooper from putting handcuffs on her for the other stuff, and find the murderer. Stat.

Loved this story and loved the ending! Can’t wait to see what’s up next for Effie and Cooper.

Effie, Lottie and Lily work at a bakery. One that lets them eat all the treats they want. Ms. Moore describes the sweets where I felt like I gained ten pounds! She has a secret, one that she is afraid her boyfriend is about to uncover. He is a detective and just like Romeo and Juliette, their families are warring mob clans. She is a hit woman and has kept it secret. She does not kill, but shoots at and the result is the subject pays up to her Uncle. A Thanksgiving food fest brings many into town. The bakery has a pumpkin pie eating contest. One mysterious man, enters the contest and mid pie, drops dead. Effie has to solve this murder because she had a hit on him. Even her family thinks she put poison into the pie. She has to solve it before Cooper digs deep enough to uncover her secret, after all she is about to wind up number one suspect.

Effie's world collides in this story. She's an assassin who never killed yet all her victims end up dead. She loves a cop yet she is the perp he should be looking at or is she. She's a detective in her own right helping solve the case. Yet, she is in such a tough spot it is hard to see things working out for her. All the while, we cheer for her because her heart seems to be in the right place.
I've enjoyed this series and am keeping my fingers crossed that she is able to find her happiness without loosing herself.

Effie and the girls are preparing for Thanksgiving holiday fun when one of the contestants in their pie eating contest falls flat on his face dead. The problem is that he was also on of the contracts her uncle gave her to knock off, except she didn't get a chance to fulfill the contract. Someone else is doing her dirty work and she's about to rise to suspect number one if she can't figure out what's going on in Honey Hollow. This is a fun, cozy mystery with twisted family relationships and a complicated dating relationship.

We are back with Effie a hit woman but not a good one but her Uncle keeps sending her more jobs to do. When one of the guys on her hit list ends up dead Effie and Cooper have to find the killer before she gets accused of murder. This is a murder mystery with a mob twist. The storyline takes some crazy but funny turns and it held my attention from the first page until the last. Great writing, a page turning story, and humor make this a great addition to the Pain in the Assassin Cozy Mysteries series and I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next for Effie and Cooper. Effie is a hit woman for her uncle who is in the mob who, as luck would have it, hasn't had to kill anyone yet. Mostly because they end up dead before she can figure out how to do them in or convince them to pay back what they owe her uncle. In this book there are two hits as she tries to find out who is actually killing while avoiding her hunky "it's complicated". This is a fun series and each book can be read as a standalone. I think this one was my favorite so far and not because I felt like I gained 10 pounds with all of the talk of food throughout the cozy.

I love the new Effie and Coop story. They are a fun couple/not a couple. We don't know as of yet. Of course, Effie is a hitman for her uncle and Coop is a cop. They are on opposite sides of the law, making their life more interesting than you would think. Seems like they seem to be running into dead bodies and than solving the cases.

You will love this series as much as any other book by Addison Moore.

I really enjoyed this fun lighthearted cozy murder mystery staring Effie and Cooper. Both are from the two rivaling mob families. They have decided not to divulge or inquire too much about the strange coincidences surrounding the murder mysteries. The story is fast paced, humorous with lots of interesting characters. I recommend this entertaining book and the series.

fun and lethal crossover characters in Honey Hollow

lots of transmundane action going on - and there really are a lot of things people think that you don't want to hear.

Thanksgiving us a time for festivities, all kinds of friends and family, and lethal thoughts and deeds.

guilt and innocence can be relative, in more ways than one.

Humor, crazy mixed up families, romance and drama.

This is book three in the Pain in the Assassin Cozy Mysteries series. It's a wonderful addition to an already amazing series. It's humorous, has a lot of interesting characters and the storyline is fantastic. I'm enjoying this series and definitely recommend reading. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Who is the mystery person in chapter 1? What was due to take place at the bookstore raised my eyebrow. The speaker, the book signing, the pie-eating contest, and the dead man bring an air of intrigue to the book. Cat and Carlotta almost came to blows. Who and what is harmony? Who is the woman in orange? None of Joe's comments at the end were cryptic. This series keeps getting more entertaining! I love how Effie keeps getting praised for a job well done without actually doing the job!

This series is full of fun, furry and feisty mystery that keeps you guessing and holds your attention throughout. I love reading the antics that the characters find themselves in, and it is always entertaining to read as they try to find their way out, while solving the mystery, of course. I had a great time reading this story and look forward to whatever comes next.

This book and series goes in with the murder in the mix series. Utilizing lottie and her bakery and family. As well as some of the characters are also from that book series in this book series. So it's familiar and like coming home to a friend. Hope you enjoy it.

What a fun mob filled Thanksgiving mystery! Poor Effie keeps finding the bodies of her marks…what’s an assassin supposed to do? I am curious about the coincidence that the two marks she is given wind up dead not long after she gets the assignment. This was a fun book and I enjoyed reading it!
