When all other dating apps fail, download Elf Date
Rhett Freeman had a lot going for him. Rhett had a respectable job, a nice apartment, his health, and above-average looks. He only had one problem; he couldn’t find a girlfriend. No matter how many dating sites he subscribed to, Rhett just couldn’t find the one.
That all changed when his best friend secretly downloaded a new app on his phone. Elf Date. The bio page alone was unlike anything Rhett had ever seen. He didn’t have to fill out his information, because the app knew everything about him, including his height, job, and why his first dates bombed miserably. Not only that, but the app laid out an attribute sheet like a video game, applying such stats as charm, fun, and even his bed rating. Rhett was apprehensive until his first contact came through, whisking him to a pub with a half-orc bartender to go on a date with a gorgeous elf woman.
Elf Date is a mysterious, semi-isekai LitRPG series that revolves around fantasy dating. Expect to find stats, loot, and spicy adult scenarios that are inappropriate for young readers.
I'm a fan of the author, Warden Locke, but this book just wasn't that great. The whole "Elf Date" app is kind of weird, and so far the MC isn't really hitting it off with anyone by the one slave he rescued.
Much of the failure to hit is the MC. He takes the whole "White Hat" thing to the extremes. He doesn't read social cues well, and has spent the past several months mooning over some woman he had a single date with, and then ghosted him.
While the author often writes haremlit, this isn't that. While the MC gets laid some (while often appearing to be trying to NOT get laid), he hasn't formed an attachment to anyone but the rescued slave. And he doesn't "read" her well, either.
I already have book 2 downloaded, so I'll read it, but this was been subpar for the author.
It's fairly meat and potatoes, guy not having luck finds app that is like VR dating. MC is a nice guy... "too nice" allegedly. More like he just kept shooting for women not worth his time.
Smut is decent. End of the day though I like to be able to picture what the characters look like, and there's such little description I'm left rather disappointed. You don't have to fill a page like Jordan but more than basic hair/skin color and maybe one other feature. Not sure if I'll continue or not.
The MC in this story from the.start is so negative about himself its impossible to.even imagine him with any girl on a long term basis . I mean this mc as written is a total.loser . Not the way to.convince readers this is a good.story. At times I have no understanding why Authors always write an MC as a total loss because the story has to be fantasy to hook the mc up with a girl This guy is a 100 % negative character
Rhett is looking to settle down marriage kid's all of it just to find the right lasting one .
Rhett works long hours 50 hours weeks no time for finding romance or partnership . So he tries app dating instead . Even though he tries he has no success they all fail . Half the time he's stood up no shows or instead they just get up an leave him in the middle of their date even though he didn't do anything wrong but try to know them or show interest in them . His buddy Josh shows him an unknown app that nobody ever heard of the Elf Date app . That changes his perspective on dating entirely dating actual elf's . All beautiful elf's breathtaking he wonders why so many are single .recommend reading excellent book .
I'm glad the story has a consistent but mild sprinkling of the video game stat element ... But ... While the commentary on the nature of dating apps is fairly accurate, the portrayal of the best friend Josh leaves a lot to be desired. There is a lot of juvenile comments in here and way too many cliches and stereotype assumptions but ... When it came to "game play" the writing wasn't half bad. Overall, descent but juvenile and inconsistent world building. New rules are introduced again and again showing a poor level of writing maturity on the author's part.
You will enjoy this, well written, do not even remember a typo, great action, unusual mixture of gaining points and building characters! For the most part points building is not the goal but the main character's growth and personal development are. I really enjoyed this!
Definitely different from what I got from the description
I didn't expect what the book actually was. Not saying it wasn't good or the description was wrong, just that it went in a different way than I expected it to. Personally I don't know if I liked it enough to read the sequels but it was a decent read.
Definitely a different premise for an isekai/ dungeon-like story
The MC is a tall nerd who has much trouble getting dates. His buddy turns him on to an app that acts like a dungeon setting up scenarios that he can use to level as well as have erotic adventures. A very creative twist on dating apps in an increasingly on-line digital world.
Writing was decent, premise is interesting, but I get so tired of these weak willed simp MCs in this genre that are just irritating in how unbelievably estrogen ridden they are. Its so hard to find a good harem lit about a man and not some weak, self-hating, estrogen ridden, pathetic simpathetic male.
Interesting plot, good characters, and good personality development. Given an office worker with a poor love-life, a buddy trying to help him, and a secret elf dating site. Put them together and you have a fun read.
Rhett was very surprised at the new dating app that his friend sent him! It was an ED app that he gains points on his statistics as he dated women on the site. Oh well on to book two!
Goes from a sweet dream to nightmare. I have to agree with the book title, a spicy couple of great dates and wonderful self control followed by a game of winner takes all.
I liked the story line a good deal. The actions in the other world took a bit to get used to. This is a D-N-D tournament meeting behind the green door.
