I have the ebook version but it produced the same result. I passed my CCNA exam yesterday with a score of 900/1000. The author does a great job explaining the concepts, using figures and diagrams. The additional resources that are available through my cisco press account were also extremely helpful.
Along with Vol 2 of the same title, this book was used as a text book for a post graduate university subject.
It is by far *the best* text book I've ever read. The author does an excellent job of explaining every concept clearly using plain language with plenty of diagrams and examples, which help tremendously to understand the complex and confusing topics especially for a novice like me in the subject of internetworking.
I don't plan to take the CCNA certification exam, but if I did I would be quite confident of passing it.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and this will be my go-to reference book on the subject for many years to come. 10 stars out of 5!
Perfect to learn networking huge details but smooth way in book learning the one should every networker have to be a reference thankx cisco
Very well written, and even the densest material is made to easy to understand. He repeats main idea and stays very specific and transparent in the book, not leaving the reader with assumptions that are not verified. Highly recommend as a study guide!
and im into networks so dry good information but you cant rely on this book alone. why are we made to suffer just to get paid less then what a security guard makes.
If I pass the test this is supposed to prepare me for it will be an absolute miracle. The book itself is about as solid and thorough a study resource can be. It’s just that the material in this two book set is incredibly dense.
The book is worth 90+ points, no "but" or "yet" in this review!
I do not read the whole book. I only use it as my reference book for topics that I need to have better understanding or clarity.
Don't just read it. Please test the knowledge that you've learned from the book in your labs. I highly recommend that you watch a CCNA video series besides reading the book!
I used these books to study for the CCNA and passed on the first try. The text is very in depth and some times to a fault, but if you know the material, you will pass. I would also recommend following the study techniques listed at the beginning of Vol 1. I took about 3 months to study, with some OSI model knowledge beforehand. Happy Studying!
