This engaging novel is telling a story between the two girls Nola and Marnie. The issues of friends and enermies are greatly revealed in the story by discussing the meaning of IN or OUT in the circle. Everything changes when Marnie broke up with Dane, and now Marnie is out of the circle while Nola is totally in the circle. Dane is a handsome, attractive, and gorgeous guy among the boys. After he broke up with Marnie, he caught Nola's attention and they had little chemistry going on. And now, the famous quote took a significant role in the book. "Friends close, enemies closer." Personally, I think this quote means that we should treat our friends good and be kind to them as always. Also, we should pull our enemies closer as a way to protect ourselves. Someone said pulling enemies closer to oneself is like putting a time bomb on our body, but it's a great way to learn all the enemies' characteristics, strengths and weakness by putting them right next to you. When they send signal to hurt you, you can take revenge immediately.

My friend leant me this book back when I was in year 6 and I remember loving it.
Can’t really say too much about it since it was over 10 years ago now but thought I would add it to my “read” pile since this is one particular book I remember reading back in the day.

With Homecoming just around the corner, Marnie and Nola have to get their problems solved in order to have a decent night.

After a whirlwind of events, the ex-best friends' roles are totally reversed.

Once Marnie was confronted by Lizette at the secret password party about her "relationship" with Sawyer, the majors dropped her in a heartbeat. Not only the majors but also Dane, who, although he says he doesn't believe what Lizette said, finds that it is better to keep his reputation intact then to stay with Marnie. Things get even worse when Marnie's perfect sister, Erin, comes home and finds the Fitzpatrick name is ruined -- all because of her little sister. Even Erin can't find it in herself to defend Marnie.

For Nola, on the other hand, things are looking a lot brighter. Matt is starting to open up with her about his mom and they seem to be getting a lot closer, especially since Riley isn't near them to get in Nola's way. Not only that, but Dane is still setting his eyes on Nola, which only makes the other cute guys at school want Nola, too. This could just possibly mean that Nola is in, except she might not want to be.

With Homecoming closing in on the girls, the crown is up for grabs, secret relationships will be revealed, and the chase is on for the perfect date, since you need someone to watch your back when everyone is aiming at you.

With what seems to be the last novel in the IN OR OUT series, Claudia Gabel wraps it up nicely, tying up all of the loose ends and helping us see what true friends are all about. Just remember, being out is always better then being in.

Well, unless you're on Project Runway.

Main characters were Marnie,Nola,Lizette,Sawyer, and Matt. The setting was in Poughkeepsie, at a Highschool called Poughkeepsie central. There were previous books and in those previous books, Nola and Marnie got into a fight which lead to Marnie being friends with Lizette, the most popular girl in the school. But brynne told Lizette that Marnie was hitting on her boyfriend, Sawyer. so they were no longer friends. Marnie is left with almost no friends at all. Lizette is being super mean to her, and Marnie has to deal with Lizette and her possie being mean. An internal conflict was with Nola. She wanted to go t Marnie and talk t her to wrok it ou tand be friends again, but she wanted Marnie to go first, so she wasnt sure she should go. An external conflict is when Lizette comes to Marnie mad because she ahd someone tell the truth in front of the whole school, which was the best friend of Lizette.
Text to self. In my old school we had a dance, and the week of the dance we got into a fight. But the night of the dance we made up and just ended up having a good time together, but we still were awkward around eachother, so we just needed time to get comfortable with eachother. In the book Marnie and Nola became friends again the night of their scshool prom. Because of all that happened they werent yet sure if they could still trust eachother or not, but they still had a good time hanging out with eachother and catching up with everything that they had missed.
I gave this book a 4 because, it was really cool that after everything that happened Marnie got over Lizette, and went back to Nola. I personally didnt like Lizette.

This book is a continuation on the last book. In this book Marnie learns who her real friends are. Marnie tries to be friend with Lizette, but Lizette keep on hurting her. She don't know what to do. Her sister tell her different ways to get back with her, but then a guy name sawyer tell her that she should really know who is her real friend. I think this book is okay. I agree with sawyer if your ex- friend is treating you so bad, why do you still want to be with her. Marnie should find a better friend who treat her nice and kind. Real friends don't just stop being your friend to hangout with popular people.

This book was very interesting. I enjoyed reading it because it had morals, even though there were a lot of drama. The characters, Marnie, Lizette, Nola and many more were all friends until they had a fight. There was a lot going on between them and Marnie tried to find a way to make it all better, even though everyone always blamed her for what happened. They eventually made up during their homecoming dance and te ending was a bit surprising.

I read this awhile back when I was in eighth grade. That was during my stages of fashion, drama, and friendship books. I remember the ending quite vividly. I remember tearing up because of their vicious friendship and their on-and-off love-lives. If I reread the series now, I guess I would probably give it a 4, but based on my memories and emotions when I read the book, I really loved it.

This book is very good also. It goes to show that you shouldn't judge by popularity but should look inside and then judge.
