Thoreau Jones, 15, has had a terrible life since his older brother left Gray Shadows. His parents constantly remind him that it's his fault Emerson took off, just like it's his fault for being "retarded." If only his brain wasn't so broken, Mommy Daddy wouldn't have to "fix" him every day or keep him locked in a cage in the attic.
When his parents finally give up on him, they ship him off to Five Fangs with the warning that Emerson will either keep him or kill him. Thoreau knows his brother won't want him and can only hope that his death will be quick. However, it isn't death that awaits the sweet boy at Five Fangs, and the Moon Goddess has more blessings in store for him than he could have ever imagined…
Neurodivergent, Not Broken His autism isn’t a flaw; it’s part of what makes him precious. Boy Love This werewolf pack accepts you just as you are. Overcoming the Past They survived, but now they have to learn to live with the trauma. FamilyReunited Their parents failed them in every way possible. Now the two brothers have found each other again. Friends to Lovers/Why Choose? What will happen when he turns 18? He’s already in love! Safe RomanceNo betrayal, cheating, other man/woman, or love triangles. Just green flag main characters with a happily ever after.
I absolutely loved this book and Thoreau is so sweet I just wanna protect him from everything 😭😭
This book has shifters-magic is a slow burn book with multiple pov's. I Was a bit lost at the beginning because of all the characters thrown in the book, but then I checked and theres a series before this one and I regret not reading that one but once you learn who is who is all good.
The book is about Thoreau a werewolf shifter who has learning disabilities/ might be on the spectrum as well ? Nothing is mentioned in the book about it but you can see some behaviors that are the same. Anyways he has suffered so much at such a short age. I am so happy he found his real family. The romance in the whole series is very slow paced since Thoreau is 15 years old in this first book and then 18+ towards the end.
I read all 4 books in a go cuz I was hooked and I loved them all. I liked seeing the happy endings of the other characters and Thoreaus' own happy ending with his loved ones.
How anyone could hurt such a gentle little thing no less his parents, blows my mind.
Reau is very direct and my gosh he comes out with the funniest one liners ever! I have so many highlights in this book from his little lines that made me laugh so much!
You need to read Posy to understand who the characters are but you will not be disappointed! These books are so easy to read and as someone who struggles reading long books let alone series, I found I didnt have that problem reading these books. I usually read so much then get bored and read another book, constantly going from book to book until they are finished but I was able to read these without being bored and changing books.
Finding Him is one of those books that grabs you by the heart from the very first page and refuses to let go. Thoreau Jones isn’t just a character — he’s a child you want to wrap your arms around and protect from every terrible thing he’s ever endured. His life in Gray Shadows is so cruel, so isolating, so twisted by the lies his parents fed him, that you feel every bruise on his spirit. Being told he’s “broken,” being locked in a cage, being blamed for his brother’s escape — it’s the kind of trauma that could crush anyone. But Thoreau? He survives. And that survival is what makes him extraordinary.
When his parents finally ship him off to Five Fangs with that sick warning — that Emerson will either keep him or kill him — you feel the weight of how deeply they’ve damaged him. Thoreau truly believes he’s unwanted. He truly believes death is the best he can hope for. And that’s what makes his arrival at Five Fangs so powerful. Because instead of death, he finds something he never imagined he deserved: safety. Care. Love. A future.
The moment Emerson sees him again is emotional in a way that hits straight in the chest. Two brothers, both hurt in different ways, finally reunited after years of pain. Emerson doesn’t see a burden. He doesn’t see a problem. He sees his baby brother — the one he never stopped loving. And that moment alone is enough to make the whole book worth reading.
But the real magic is watching Thoreau slowly realize he isn’t “retarded,” he isn’t broken, he isn’t something to be fixed. His autism is part of who he is — precious, unique, and worthy of love. Five Fangs doesn’t just accept him; they cherish him. They meet him where he is. They learn him. They protect him. And they give him space to grow into himself without fear.
The boy‑love element is handled with such softness. It’s innocent, tender, and age‑appropriate — a slow‑burn sweetness that feels more like emotional safety than romance. Thoreau already knows who he loves, even if he’s too young to understand what that means yet. And the pack lets him have that. No shame. No pressure. Just acceptance.
The trauma doesn’t magically disappear. The book doesn’t pretend healing is easy. But it shows Thoreau learning how to live instead of just survive. It shows Emerson learning how to be a brother again. It shows a pack choosing kindness over cruelty, patience over frustration, and love over fear.
And the promise of what happens when Thoreau turns eighteen? It’s a soft thread woven through the story — a future waiting for him, a love that’s already blooming, a happily‑ever‑after that feels earned instead of forced.
I recently read all four books in the Thoreau series. These books are based alongside the original Five Fangs story, which I have already read multiple times having absolutely loved them! The Thoreau series is a werewolf-based story with multiple points of view, including chapters from the wolves' perspectives.
The books cover sensitive topics such as ASD, learning difficulties, childhood abuse, bullying, the death of a wolf, and the LGBTQI community.
The writing is incredibly well-done, and I couldn't put the books down, finishing them all within just two days. It was heartwarming to see the development of relationships between Thoreau and his best buddies, as well as witnessing Thoreau's transition into adulthood and seeing his feelings and love grow.
I highly recommend the entire series, but I recommend starting with the original Five Fangs series as it provides important background information that is further developed in the Thoreau books. In my opinion, this is a 5-star series for anyone who enjoys stories with fated mates and complex backgrounds.
I re read the Posy/Five Fangs books and again, at the end I wanted to know how Thoreau’s story ended. So imagine my surprise to find these four books! I cannot wait.
To be fair, this covers the book(s) of Thoreau’s introduction- I’m glad we didn’t have to see too much of his time with Mommy Daddy and to find out about Ms. Marriott, a literal angel. I’m happy to have so many POVs like the original books and getting to see how the story looks from another angle.
If you liked the Posy books, these are almost exactly the same just new and more POVs from the secondary characters and one from Mason’s POV.
Mary Ann Weir is truly a one of a kind author. The minute I seen their was a book about Thoreau I really started crying from my soul bc that beautiful brilliant loving boy and both his wolves have been threw so much words can't even tough it. I'm so excited to see him grow and I just know fall in love ❤️ . If you haven't read poseys stories where we first meet reau please do so. On to the next book!! Thank you to Weir for writing stories about characters that make u feel so much!!!
I left five stars, but now is my review. I fell more in love with these 3 guys. After reading all of Lines story, I knew I wanted to read Thoreau story. This book was hard to read not because it was bad, But because you know that somewhere in the world this is actually happening. What Thoreau goes through in his early years is heart breaking but also shows how strong he actually is.
This one definitely starts out on the heavier side, but I really enjoyed watching Reau slowly find his place and realize that maybe not everyone is going to let him down. The found family aspect was probably my favorite part. Reau is easy to root for, and I liked the mix of sweet, funny, and emotional moments without the story feeling completely weighed down by everything he’s been through. Basically, give Reau all the good things. He’s earned them.
I have read posey’s story many times and I saw that Thoreau has his own I was very excited. There’s no many details that I wondered about that I finally have my answer. I really connect with the characters and they’re individual stories. I look forward to book 2.
I absolutely adore Reau. He is such a phenomenal character and he definitely deserved his own series. Eventhough I knew much of what happened in book one from reading Posy's series, it still felt new because of all the new perspectives of the story. I am looking forward to continuing Reau's journey.
This story had you having feelings for everything, anger for Reau, sadness, laughter, and the laugh out loud scenes that made you fall in love with Reau over and over! It took me a while to want to read this novel, because I knew that my emotions would be present! But I’m so glad I started! Now on to book 2!
I love this book almost the same as I love Posy. Mary Ann Weir is one amazing and very talented author, always leaving her readers to wonder what’s next and wanting more. Thoreau is a marvelous book with an amazing story!!! I highly recommend this book!
I love everything this author has published. I somehow missed that she released Thoreau series. Let me tell you I jumped on this so fast. This first book was great. I can wait to read the rest of the series.
Its amazing seeing different pov from characters. This author books are really amazing, I am very excited for more. It is beautiful written and can t wait to see what else she will do
Absolutely fantastic, i would recommend this author and her books/series, I'm so glad we have a follow on series from Posey and her mates , I found both series by accident but haven't been disappointed and hope people will give these books a read too.....
Wonderful to see things from thoreau's point of view and his side of the Five Fangs Story line. As anticipated this book is just as great as the Posy series in the Five Fangs Novel series. 1000/10 will recommend.
This book coincides Luna Posy’s story and over laps other characters thoughts! Can’t wait to start the next one! It is so fun to learn more about Reau and watch him grow and be happy!
I think this has become my favorite series. Reau is so sweet, so funny I'm excited for the next book. I love all the characters and their POVs. Yes these series are now definitely my favorites.💗
I’m so glad Reau got his own books to tell his story as I loved him as a character in Posys book. I really enjoyed the story and although Reaus beginnings are sad I loved watching him come into himself once he was safe. I would highly recommend giving this book a read.
I love Thoreau, he is so sweet and funny. Although, it was sad what he had to endure. I love having all the points of view, especially the animals. Always great to see how the characters interact with each other.
So glad there is a series on Thoreau! I couldn't put this book down once I started, highly recommended but make sure you read the Posy series first! So excited to read book two to see where his story goes!
Omg I love Reau. So sweet and innocent. I read Posy a million times and still love it. So I had to read this too. I'm glad i did. Can't wait to read Laser 2
