Mairi Mackinnon has lived in England, Scotland, France, Italy and Spain, and worked as a teacher, translator and tour manager before joining Usborne. Over the years she has written and edited Usborne books in sixteen languages, from Arabic to Welsh. She lives in a house full of teenagers, books and curious musical instruments.

Awalnya, saya tertarik membeli dan membaca buku ini karena kesulitan menjelaskan apa yang terjadi di tanah Palestina pada K. Jujur saja, buku ini, meski umum, cukup menjadi modal saya bicara pada K (anak saya) bahwa saat ini di beberapa belahan dunia, terjadi hal yang tidak menyenangkan. Pembahasan mengenai perang menjadi titik awal saya untuk mengajak K menunjukkan keberpihakan. Beberapa lagi usaha yang dilakukan setelahnya adalah dengan boikot atau memilah produk-produk yang keluarga konsumsi. Suatu tema yang tentunya akan K pahami pelan-pelan.
