345 books673 followersNancy A. Collins (born 10 September 1959) is a United States horror fiction writer best known for her series of vampire novels featuring her character Sonja Blue. Collins has also written for comic books, including the Swamp Thing series, Jason Vs. Leatherface, Predator: Hell Come A Walkin and her own one-shot Dhampire: Stillborn.
Collins was born in McGehee, Arkansas, United States. She lived in New Orleans, Louisiana in the 1980s; after time in New York City and Atlanta, Georgia she settled in Wilmington, North Carolina in the late 2000s.
Collins has written twenty novels since 1989, many of which refer to and directly include races of creatures the author calls Pretenders, monsters from myth and legend passing as human to better hunt their prey.
Collins has also written a number of highly acclaimed Southern Gothic short stories and novellas, most of which are set in Seven Devils, Arkansas, a highly fictionalized version of her hometown.
Most recently, she has focused her attention onto the Golgotham urban fantasy series,published by Penguin. Golgotham is the 'supernatural' ghetto of New York City, where creatures from myth and folklore--including witches,shapeshifters,leprechauns and centaurs--live and work in uneasy alliance with mankind.

Collection of Sonja Blue stories with a new one - still the best kick ass Vampire hunter. Was thrilled to find I had only read one of the stories before.
Introduction says in 8/24 it will have been 35 years since Sunglasses After Dark, makes me feel old but that was the first Vampire story I enjoyed.
If you new to the Sonja Blue world this is a good intro which will make you want to go read the Novels.
Enjoy, just understand this is not the sparkly pretty Vampire as good guy/girl. She is a predator and acts the part.

Sonja Blue is very much like the iconic figure of an early Batman dealing with the deadly vampires she chooses to hunt. She comes in with shades hiding her tell tale eyes chasing down blood drinkers. I've read the novels and now the short stories which are just as impressive. She is action and darkness. Hers is also a life of pain and regrets. Her movements are swift and murderous yet tinged with compassion. Having read a lot of vampiric lit in my life Nancy Collins has stayed in my brain as a series that excels. Sonja Blue forever, guys!

God, how I've missed Sonja Blue. It's been too long since I've been reminded why Nancy A. Collins is one of the best vampire authors I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Sonja's tragedies and triumphs, the pain and suffering that drive her, and the paranormal universe in which she dwells, all of it expertly crafted and executed by a true horror master.
